Abhay Parasnis is founder and CEO of Typeface, is former CTO/CPO at Adobe, and sits on the board of Dropbox and Schneider Electric. He joined Ben Casnocha, co-founder and partner at Village Global, for a live masterclass for Village Global founders.Takeaways:If you can break into the top tier of the enterprise market, it's hard to dislodge you.Big platforms like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI are eager to prove their tech's power. If you position your startup as a prime showcase for their platform, you become a strategic asset. When selling to enterprise, understand the company's macro strategy in the market, but also know what the on-the-ground person needs to close deals. With the rise of agents and agentic automation, even the workflow layer isn't safe. As these systems gain richer context, they'll redefine automation in SaaS. Just like today's platform vs. app debate, tomorrow's battle will be legacy workflows vs. agents.Success in AI isn't just about top-tier products—it's about being a consultative partner to help them with change management. There's a common fear about embracing a custom data training strategy — it's expensive, complex, and feels like the domain of big players. But starting narrow and accumulating distinct data early is key. It drives real AI differentiation and builds critical internal muscle in engineering and product.Value-based pricing means customers are less price-sensitive because it ties directly to their top-line business, unlike commodity pricing, which faces constant cost pressure. Instead of charging per word, image, or seat—models that AI disrupts—pricing should align with outcomes, ensuring long-term sustainability. Thanks for listening — if you like what you hear, please review us on your favorite podcast platform.Check us out on the web at www.villageglobal.vc or get in touch with us on Twitter @villageglobal.Want to get updates from us? The quirky, rounded, nominally sans-serif font of Comic Sans became a cultural phenomenon when it first burst onto the scene as a free option in Windows 95. Used in memes, kindergarten classrooms and sometimes even official signage, it's become “the font everyone loves to hate.” So says Simon Garfield, author of a new biography of Comic Sans. And over its 30 years, the font became recommended by dyslexia organizations and can be used to chart a micro-history of online irony, comedy and backlash cycles. Garfield joins us to share why “no other font gets people so worked up” and how Comic Sans says a lot about how we express ourselves, online and off. Welcome to the Marketing Technology Podcast, hosted by Elias Crum (digital strategist and owner of Marketing Guys). In this insightful episode of the Marketing Technology Podcast, Elias Crum hosts Arushi Jain, the innovative Marketing Director at Typeface. This dialogue navigates the transformative role of AI in marketing, exploring its myriad opportunities, potential threats, and its undeniable impact on the future of creative professions. This discussion, rich in depth and scope, provides a lens through which CMOs and B2B marketing professionals can view the evolving landscape of digital marketing.  Arushi, fresh from joining the AI revolution at Typeface, shares her seasoned insights into how artificial intelligence is reshaping the field of marketing. As a precursor to a thought-provoking session, the conversation delves into the utility of AI for marketers, discussing not just the tools at their disposal but the broader implications of adopting such technologies in strategy formulation and execution. **AI: Threat or Opportunity for Marketers?** Arushi offers a balanced perspective on the duality of AI as both a potential disruptor and an unparalleled advantage for marketers. The heart of the matter, as Jain illustrates, is how marketers choose to adapt to and adopt AI. Far from being a harbinger of obsolescence for marketing professionals, Arushi posits AI as a catalyst that can elevate the strategic aspects of marketing, automating the mundane to allow for an increased focus on creative and strategic planning. It's about harnessing AI to enhance human ingenuity, not replace it. **Joining the AI Revolution** Arushi's enthusiasm for joining the AI revolution at Typeface encapsulates the momentum gathering in the sector. Her narrative underscores AI's power to transform product marketing and partnerships. She draws from her experiences, illustrating how AI solutions like Typeface's offerings can drive efficiency, creativity, and personalized marketing at scale. Arushi emphasizes the necessity for marketers to become adept in leveraging AI for content creation, audience targeting, and analytics to remain competitive in the digital era. **Standing Out in Content** The discussion then transitions to one of the modern marketer's greatest challenges: standing out in an era of content abundance. Here, Arushi offers a treasure trove of insights on leveraging AI to create content that not only resonates with target audiences but also aligns perfectly with brand narratives. The emphasis is on the intelligent use of AI to generate unique, engaging content that breaks through the noise. AI, as Arushi articulates, is a powerful tool for identifying and leveraging nuances that make content distinct and compelling. **Why Demand for Creatives Will Surge** Perhaps one of the most fascinating parts of the conversation revolves around the future of creatives in the AI era. Contrary to the narrative of displacement, Arushi forecasts a surge in demand for creative professionals. In her view, the infusion of AI in marketing workflows will amplify the need for human creativity. AI excels in efficiency and personalization, but the imaginative, emotional depth that humans bring to storytelling and brand building remains unparalleled. The future, as envisioned by Jain, is one where AI and human creativity coalesce, opening new vistas of marketing innovation. **Engaging Insights for B2B CMOs** For CMOs in the B2B space, Arushi's message is clear: the time to integrate AI into marketing strategies is now. Beyond the technological integration, she emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning within organizations. This approach ensures teams are not only proficient in using AI tools but are also able to think critically about how these technologies can be applied to solve complex marketing challenges uniquely. **Conclusion** As the episode wraps up, listeners are left with a deep understanding of AI's pivotal role in marketing's future. Arushi Jain, with her insightful contributions, makes a compelling case for the strategic integration of AI in marketing. Her perspectives offer much-needed clarity on navigating the complexities of digital marketing, ensuring CMOs and marketing professionals are well-equipped to leverage AI for creating meaningful, impactful marketing strategies.  For those looking to connect with Arushi and delve deeper into her insights, her LinkedIn profile offers a gateway to further discussion: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jain-arushi/ **Engagement and Continuing the Conversation** Elias Crum's conversation with Arushi Jain on the Marketing Technology Podcast is not just a standalone episode but a springboard for ongoing dialogue in the marketing community. Episode 319 of The VentureFizz Podcast features Peter Berg, Managing Partner at M12, Microsoft's venture capital fund. I've had lots of investors as guests on the podcast, but I was excited to interview Peter because I've never interviewed an investor from a CVC or a Corporate Venture Capital fund. I'm not sure what the number is today, but according to a 2023 report about CVCs, it counts 1,100 active CVCs. Based on this scale, it is a very meaningful opportunity for entrepreneurs in terms of raising capital. Thus, Peter and I pretty much get right into the details towards the beginning of our conversation about the world of CVCs… from what they are, differentiators, strategic advantages of raising capital from a CVC, how to evaluate a CVC, and other topics. As previously stated, M12 is Microsoft's VC fund. The firm invests in Seed, Series A, and Series B rounds of funding across different categories like Cloud Infrastructure, AI, Cybersecurity, Web 3 & Gaming, Vertical SaaS, and Developer Tools. In this episode of our podcast, we cover: * How Peter landed a first name @peter handle on Twitter / X.com. * A walk through Peter's career including his investment into Square and the creation of Visa Ventures which scaled to a global organization and went on to invest in Stripe, LoopPay (a Boston startup that was acquired by Samsung), and many other companies. * All the details on Peter's area of focus at M12 and what he is targeting for investments. * M12 portfolio company examples like Inworld and Typeface. * His thoughts and opinions on the current state of the market for raising capital. * And so much more.

“The characteristics of jazz help. Its sense of improvisation, individualism, sound, and rhythm are all present and important in graphic design, too.” - Niklaus Troxler, who have been improvising with letterforms like Jazz Musicians since 1960s. In my opinion, a Poster is a mix of typeface and graphics communicating something. In here, typeface matters a lot. To discuss this and more, today we have Sarang Kulkarni with us. Sarang is a type designer and co-founder of Ektype. He also has his own agency called as The White Crow where he does branding and typography work. This Audiogyan will be in English and Marathi. Questions What according to you is Type / Akshar? Massimo Vignelli said that he is comfortable with half a dozen typefaces lasting a lifetime. Rest all is visual pollution. What's the need for more typefaces? What triggers a need for new typefaces? Medium, Language, Expression, Enhancement, Technology, Content? Are there ways to systematically study and distinguish between an improvisation of a typeface versus a different typeface? For eg, Mukta and Modak have different anatomy, so we can say that they are 2 different fonts. But can we say that Inter is an improvised version of Helvetica? You deal with a lot of abstract forms as well. At letterbox, for eg: “k” (Marathi) can be identified if one looks at the flow or series of iterations of representing ‘k'. Can a letter form be identified in isolation? What's the extent of improvisation? How abstract one can go and still make it palatable? When can one start improvising on a typeface? When the base font is registered in everyone's mind. For eg: Can we improvise on a newly launched font set? Does improvisation in a typeface done only as an experiment can transform into the usage of mass communication? What's going on with 365 days of type and more such practices and movements? Are those improvisations? How easy or hard is it today to experiment and improvise on open-source fonts? When does the author know that the improvisation is done? In this episode, Madrona Managing Director Soma Somasegar talks with Typeface Founder and CEO Abhay Parasnis. Typeface combines generative AI platforms with its own brand-personalized AI, so all businesses can create content that is multimodal and on-brand. Typeface just announced $100 million in new funding, and Madrona couldn't have been happier to participate in the round. Abhay and Soma have known each other for almost 20 years from their time at Microsoft. But In 2022, Abhay left Adobe, where he was CTO and CPO, because he saw an inflection point coming that he wanted to be a part of. This was, of course, before ChatGPT and all the other popular GenAI tools that we've all been playing with this year even came out. Typeface has made waves quickly, attracting Fortune 500 customers and partnering with Salesforce and Google Cloud. In this week's episode, Abhay shares about the need to balance your passion and recklessness for going after a dream with a product that you know will resonate with customers. He explains that people relationships are the real currency when launching a new company, and how advisers are just as important as what he calls the flag planters and road builders that founders need to seek out, to help them on their startup journey. These two industry veterans share all of this and so much more.

I had Laura Worthington on today and it became one of the most interesting podcasts I've ever had because I know so little about this field, even though it's an art form. Laura makes fonts.  She comes from a calligraphy background and it's so unique because at a very young age, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. She was focused and completely obsessed with the written word.Laura is one of probably 1500 people in the world that actually makes their entire living from designing fonts. It turns out that she's done fonts for everything. In fact, in my gallery, one of the fonts on the wall for Shonot Begay's work is one of hers. The movie 'Joker' with Joaquin Phoenix has some of her fonts in it as well. You can almost go down just about any road and see her fonts, either on billboards or on your newspaper and so it's a fascinating world she lives in. It's technical too, but that's the interesting part - trying to understand (for me, somebody who is really a neophyte with all of this) what you do to curate and create fonts and just the technology and the language of what it is to be somebody who does this for a living.I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did. She's very dynamic and I would recommend watching this on YouTube if you can because she is very animated and that just adds to the whole joy of the podcast. So Laura Worthington on episode 238 of Art Dealer Diaries Podcast.
