The Inspired Grownups with Alana Banana podcast is an absolute gem in the world of podcasts. From the moment I started listening, I was captivated by Alana's conversations and her genuine desire to learn about people and their lives. It's refreshing to hear someone who truly values the stories and experiences of others. Whether you're a mama, mama-to-be, or even if you're not a parent at all, this podcast is a must-listen. The subject matters are insightful and relatable, ensuring that there's something for everyone.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the beautifully navigated conversations with guests and individual mini episodes. Alana has a knack for creating a safe space where her guests feel comfortable sharing their stories and insights. Her authenticity shines through in every episode, making it incredibly easy to connect with her as a listener. Additionally, I love how Alana incorporates personal anecdotes and her own perspective on life into each conversation. It's inspiring to hear how she lifts herself up every day and encourages others to do the same.
Another highlight of The Inspired Grownups with Alana Banana podcast is Alana's storytelling abilities. Her ability to guide her guests through their own stories is captivating, and it really allows listeners to get to know both Alana and her guests on a deep level. After listening to just one episode, I was eager to explore more of Alana's work, including her music and YouTube videos. She truly is a creative force.
As for drawbacks, it's hard to find any major faults with this podcast. One minor criticism could be the occasional length of some episodes, which may feel too short for listeners who are craving more in-depth conversations or too long for those looking for quick snippets of inspiration. However, this is purely subjective and doesn't detract from the overall quality of the podcast.
In conclusion, The Inspired Grownups with Alana Banana podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking meaningful and inspiring conversations about life. Alana's natural and authentic hosting style, combined with the diverse range of guests and subjects, make for a truly enjoyable and uplifting listening experience. Whether you're looking for motivation, connection, or simply a warm hug in podcast form, this show has it all. Give it a listen and be prepared to feel inspired.
I'm back with a solo episode about all the feels... how our feelings are the essential guideposts in our lives. Before I recorded this episode I thought about calling it "Feeling Fabulous this Fall" but the truth is that we don't always feel that way, right? So I share a little personal story around this. It starts with what are we focused on? How does that make us feel? How do we want to feel and moving forward from there. If you want some insight or inspiration around this, take a listen. I also give you an update on the future of Inspired Grownups and what I'm excited to create in 2025 for kids in the podcast world. There's definitely a part of being human that requires some scheduling; work, school, appointments, etc. But, what would it look like if we surrendered the (over)scheduling this summer? What new, possibly very exciting, things could we end up making room for? Take a listen for some inspiration around this and to hear a short impromtu song! We usually think about celebrating our lives when it's our birthday or celebrating the life of someone we love who has passed on. Why not do something everyday to celebrate our life, big or small, by doing an activity or simply having a mental reframe or change of perspective on a current circumstance. This is what I'm talking about today in this solo episode. Today I'm talking with co-founder of August Uncommon Tea, Gina Zupsich. This conversation is more than a discussion around tea, we talk about travel, being open to the magic of life, how great things can happen after misfortune, staring a new business and allowing things to come to you. Whether you're a tea drinker or not, you'll be inspired by this conversation. Gina Zupsich leads culinary development and brand voice at August. She has always favored her senses of smell and taste. Her nomadic childhood allowed her to explore scent and flavor across the American landscape. Her first visit to France at age 16 was a culinary and cultural revelation which led her to earn an MA in French Cultural Studies from Columbia University and a PhD in French Literature from UC Berkeley. During her research in France, she alternated long hours at the library with adventures in fashion, perfume and food. In 2013 the lure of a more sensuous life led her to leave academia to co-found August Uncommon Tea, in which her fantasy of becoming a chef, perfumer, chemist, and novelist collide. She spends her free time writing poetry, comedy bits and gardening. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband/business partner, their daughter and their dog. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is so important for all of us, especially young kids and adding music into the equation makes it more fun, engaging and memorable. I love the music that my guests today are sharing with kids, teachers, parents and caretakers. “Acoustic Kindie Rock band “Narwhals and Waterfalls” consists of Singer-Songwriters Paige Bell and Adrien Palmer. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, they have both taught music to children ages 0 to 5th grade. In 2018, they connected over their passion to write creative, original songs for kids, that would be enjoyable for both kids and grown-ups alike. N&W strives to write simple SEL that align with children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. So whether you're a professional educator, a stay-at-home parent, a family friend or any other kind of teacher, N&W's music promotes learning and movement, and will enhance your “student's” life.In this conversation we talk about how Paige & Adrien met, what got them into making Children's music, how being a parent has changed how they create and teach and how they're helping other parents and educators through their music and SEL resources. This week I'm sharing a short solo episode about a topic that's been on my mind recently. One way to help us live happier, more peaceful lives is to focus on the things we love about someone instead of what bugs or annoys us. Nobody is perfect and we all have things we're working on, right? Usually when we judge others, we're also judging ourselves. A benefit of focusing on the good in someone is that it ultimately helps us to feel better and can aid in any relationship. Take a listen to hear more. Today I'm talking with an incredible woman, musician, mom and fellow kid's artist, Molly Whuppie. We discuss how she got her name, exposing kids to all the emotions through music and stories, how she got into music, being a mom and more. Molly is a children's music performer in Hawai'i. She has a special place in her heart for traditional folk songs and many of the songs she shares are from her own childhood growing up in Canada. She is fascinated with folk song history and often shares unusual folk and novelty instruments in her live and online performances, such as the musical saw or the jaw harp. She also incorporates folk toys, such as wooden spoon dolls and jig dolls, into her songs. Sometimes she plays a paper bag to demonstrate that music is everywhere if you look for it. Families resonate with her gentle and playful approach to community music.Over the past few years Molly has amassed over 875,000 social media followers by uploading daily videos featuring nostalgic and historical children's songs. She has transcended the "children's music" genre into a sort of " of memories" for all ages. In the comments sections, people share how they play her videos to connect with memory-loss patients, as calming sleep aids, and as tools for managing anxiety attacks. In regards to being a children's music performer, she says, "Children are hardwired to respond to music. You don't need a lot of bells and whistles to earn their attention; you just need to be kind and sing good songs. Some of these kids are going to remember these songs for the rest of their lives, so I have a responsibility to choose the songs wisely.” She has released three singles this past year, all in preparation for her upcoming album releases planned for this fall.Connect with Molly on IG@mollywhuppiemusic ; TikTok ; Facebook ; YouTubeListen on Spotify www.MollyWhuppie.comTo connect with me, Alana Banana, follow on IG @TheAlanaBananaShow or join the Inspired Grownups Private FB Group. I believe we're all creative and are here to create. We're being creative everyday in how we go about living our day to day lives. For the next 6 weeks I'll be breaking down the word CREATE and talk about what each letter represents to me and how we can all use it to uplift our own lives.Today's episode is about CLARITY. Yes, it's important to get clear on what we want in life but even more important is to get clear on how we want to FEEL. Usually we want material things in life because of the way they'll make us feel once we have them. How do you want to feel? If you have a toddler or preschooler this episode is for you. I brought back my friend Dinuka Ranasinghe to talk about how we can help our kids through their separation anxiety or even our own! There are so many great take aways from this conversation. Dinuka is first and foremost the mother of 2 amazing boys ages 14 and 12. They have been her true teachers on this path of Conscious Parenting.Having been admitted to the New York Bar in 2008 as an attorney she decided to follow her calling to work with children. She jumped right in and bought a Preschool, Kid Works Children's Center. In search of more wisdom, she completed and graduated from the Conscious Coaching Institute of Dr. Shefali Tsabary and received her Conscious Parenting Method Certification in 2019, prior to which she certified in the Emotion Code Energy Healing Modality by Dr. Bradley Nelson, where the core Inner Child healing occurs and Generational Patterns are released.Dinuka is also the CEO of The Parenting Evolution as a conscious living coach helping with parenting and partnering. In this fourth Mama Tribe episode I was inspired to have a conversation about fostering independence in our kids since it's being released on America's Independence Day, July 4th (which also happens to be my sister's birthday!) I'm sharing this conversation with my friend's Rachael Blair and Dinuka Ranasinghe who are mama's of different aged kids & who have both been on previous episodes of the show. I initially brought to the table the topic of how to help our children become independent during different stages of their lives while moving away from dependence on us. The conversation then became about "connection" and how it's all about us connecting with them which in turn brings about more independence and confidence in their lives. Rachael Blair is a wife, mother of 3 and a nurse. By focusing on mind-body-heart awareness, how we create with our thoughts and using emotions as a feedback mechanism, she's teaching parents and children how to connect to their inner voice. When we align with that voice, we are able to follow our curiosity, passion, and find so much joy. She hopes to uplift and inspire families to bring more imagination, creativity and playfulness into every home. To connect with Rachael listen to her podcast Raising Vibrant Kids HERE. How often do you follow your intuition or intuitive nudges? I loved diving deep with Orly in our conversation around all things intuition, how to follow it and strengthen our connection to it and then merging into talking about communicating with loved one's from the other side. We met at an event here in LA and immediately connected over the loss of our father's and how we now communicate with them even though they're not in their physical bodies anymore, the inspiring messages that come through and following what brings us joy. Orly Altaras is a psychic medium currently living in los Angeles. She is the owner of Lara & Lou, an online shop providing goods and services for your spirit and home and is a wife & mom of two adorable children. Three things that light her up are her family, everything under the spiritual realm and personal growth.Orly offers classes on how to tap into intuition, receive divine guidance and create your heart's desires. My guest today, Karen Stoteraux, took a big leap of faith when she moved across country with her 3 year old after a divorce. We talked about how she found the courage to make the move and then create a community and space for new parents after her twins were born. Karen is the owner, founder, and CEO of The Family Room. Her passion for supporting women is tied to her own experience as a mother to three girls. After the birth of her twins, Karen was shocked by the lack of comprehensive support in her local community for women and families entering parenthood. She decided the best way to help families was to create a space just for parents and bring the most experienced birth, postpartum, and infant and child development professionals in the community under one roof. In 2014, Karen created what she wished existed. Today, The Family Room has two locations in the Los Angeles- area. Karen lives in Pasadena with her husband and children. In today's solo episode I'm talking about the power of our imagination and how we're already using it everyday for either our benefit or detriment. I believe that no matter what, at any time of day, we can use our imagination to help us feel into anything we want! When we use it for our benefit, it becomes the most fun thing we can play around it no matter what is going on around us.
