In PlanningxChange Episode 72, Jess Noonan and Peter Jewell interview Peta Charles the principal of Brisbane Town Planning (BTP). Peta has introduced many innovative features into her practice. She has produced and appeared in 100's of YouTube videos explaining different planning and design issues. It has become a significant information resource for the general public and clients. BTP applies a fresh and exciting approach as evident on their website (www.brisbanetp.com.au) which includes: "We may have a big name and crazy big ideas, however, our passion lies in working with the "little guys" like us. As it is where we feel we can make the biggest difference and hence, where we get the greatest satisfaction." The website includes 'Charlie' which is described as: “BTP’s own virtual town planner, “Charlie” is the face of all all our automation magic! She handles all of the boring back-office administration "stuff". Things like gathering property information for an enquiry, setting up jobs in our project management system/drafting invoices when an agreement is accepted ... you get the idea.” Peta is described on the website as: "Professional on the outside and slightly loco on the inside … which means she is serious when she needs to be and lighthearted when she doesn’t. Peta is obsessed with innovation/automation and has a strong distaste for bureaucratic red tape (the time/energy waste drives her bonkers). She also LOVES to challenge expectations. Most importantly though, she is driven by the saying "knowledge is power". This means that she is passionate about being transparent/honest and educating people about the inner workings of the town planning process … so they don't end up going down a path that isn't right for them. " The podcast interview covers a broad range of issues including the use of technology, client relations, learning and communication. Peta brings a down to earth yet enlivening approach to the issues. Surely one of the most interesting and innovative town planners in Australia. Darren and Ray start off chatting about Ray's return from the Czech Republic calling the World Juniors and the phenomenal Gold Medal game. Then they hit on a number of the week's top headlines: Tampa Bay's turnaround and current winning streak, the troubles that lead to the Pred's coaching change, McDavid's goal of the year candidate, whether Ovie can eclipse Gretzky in goals with the pace he is on, and wrap-up chatting on the Habs dismal play with key players out. 'The Great One' Wayne Gretzky joined the guys for a fun conversation. He broke down McDavid's amazing goal as only 99 could, as Wayne got to witness it live. Gretzky told the story about how he never changed his style as a player until he was told to study Bobby Clarke's game and he learned how to use the space behind the net as an asset like Bobby did. Wayne talked about his Dad's impact on his decision to go to California - as opposed to where he originally wants to go, Detroit - and the resulting growth of the game in the US and how the timing couldn't have worked out better. This week's edition of #ThroatPunch Ray nominates the penalty song 'Charlie' from the Juniors, and gives a secondary #TP to Corey Perry for his outdoor game elbowing incident. Darren nominates anyone who doesn't want to see extended 3 on 3. In 'Between the Benches' the guys chat on Columbus and how Torts has managed to turnaround their season, how Tocchet and the Yotes are still winning despite playing their 3rd goalie, and how the NHL still needs it's players to be more willing to put their personalities on display to help build the overall brand. 'Ask Ray & Dregs' sees questions on how the Leafs match lines defensively, how the Juniors could get more popular in the US, and why Ray decided to get into broadcasting instead of working in a NHL front office gig either in coaching or management, and how Darren ended up being a broadcaster. Why many French people continue to support strikes against changes to the pension system, freedom of expression in France five years after the Charlie Hebdo killings, and the blind teenager who invented braille. France is in the throes of its longest continuous transport stoppage for decades, forcing commuters in Paris and other large cities to walk hours to get to work. Yet despite the chaos, a majority of the French still support train and metro workers who are striking against a massive overhaul of the pension system. Everyone will be affected and the government says it will be fairer. But many are sceptical. We hear from people who are worried or indifferent but above all confused over the proposed changes and we speak to economist Anne Eydoux about why the reform raises so many concerns. (Listen @0'00) Five years ago, on 7 January 2015, Islamist extremists attacked the offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people, including 8 journalists. The attacks shook France to its core and in the following days millions of people joined solidarity rallies, coining the phrase 'I am Charlie'. We look back at that time and reflect on what remains of the solidarity and the freedom of speech the terrorists tried to kill. (Listen @18'06) And the remarkable story of child genius Louis Braille whose six-dot reading and writing invention changed the lives of blind people the world over. (Listen @13'57)
Although it has a slightly reckless budget of $100 million, 'Ford v Ferrari' surpassed all industry expectations while opening at number one at the box office. The racing film stops the bleeding for Fox (Disney), who has had a rough go of it financially in 2019. Elsewhere, Collin and Nick make their bids for America to want a spoiler pod of 'The Good Liar' because it is THAT wild. And, in other news, 'Charlie's Angels' is a movie. However, the headliner of the weekend was Disney's launch of Disney+, which has undoubtedly changed the streaming landscape. Collin and Nick break down the initial buzz, and the questions they still have moving forward. All this and more on this week's episode of The MovieBabble Podcast! "Andy Gutman is a songwriter, children's book author and businessman in the metro-Detroit area. His love of books, reading and writing began early on. He'll tell you he's not a musician, but he has a passion for songwriting. When he was young he would jot down lyrics in journals and then set the journal aside, not certain what, if anything, he would do with them. As they sat collecting dust, he pursued a career in finance and commercial real estate. Although he puts in long hours on the job, he's never lost sight of his creative dreams. Since that time, Gutman worked with various artists who sang and produced the more than 300 songs he's penned, because "nobody wants to hear [him] sing." Recently he turned his creative visions into four children's books, which all began as songs. His books are written in a lyrical style amidst vibrant illustrations. His most recent book, Charlie the Caterpillar: What Can I Be Today?, is a 38-page story, conceived by Gutman and his daughter Riley, that focuses on the dreams that all kids have about what they can be when they grow up." Check out his song 'Charlie the Caterpillar' at the end of the show! Continue reading Episode #213 – Andy Gutman on the site.

"Sometimes we need to spend time doing nothing – just stare into space. We need that fallow time," says Lauren Child, when journalist and author Nicolette Jones poses the question "how do you come up with your ideas?" This, and many more thoughts about creativity, from the 'Charlie and Lola' author and Waterstones Children's Laureate, in this inspiring talk from the RA's Festival of Ideas.

Panelet: Søs Egelind, Hans Pilgaard, Ulla Terkelsen og Jens Gaardbo.
