Traveling to Canada? Know what to pack, what to declare, and what to expect at customs. Smart travel starts here! What to Know Before Flying to Canada Traveling internationally—especially to Canada—requires a bit more preparation than domestic trips. Whether it's your first time or you're a seasoned traveler, here's what you should know before you board. Entry Requirements and Canadian Customs Tips Valid Passport: Make sure your passport is current and valid for the entire duration of your stay. U.S. travelers don't need a visa for visits under six months. ArriveCAN App: Travelers are encouraged to use the ArriveCAN app to provide customs and immigration information ahead of time. What to Declare: Be honest—declare all food, alcohol, and goods. Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) takes violations seriously. Duties and Limits: Know your duty-free allowances. Canadians returning home have specific exemptions for goods and alcohol, which vary by time spent abroad. What to Pack for a Smooth Trip Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Canada's weather can vary dramatically. Layers are key! Travel Documents: Keep your passport, boarding pass, and ArriveCAN receipt handy with an electronic copy on your phone. Remember to file your “Customs Declaration” within 72 hours of departure on airlines for faster customs processing. Electronics & Adapters: Canada uses 120V (same as the U.S.), so most electronics are compatible. Health & Insurance Info: It's smart to travel with proof of insurance and any necessary prescriptions. It is highly recommended that prescriptions are in original bottles from the pharmacy. If those bottles are large, advise the pharmacy of international travel and ask for smaller labelled bottles with enough for the “planned” trip as well as an extra week's supply incase of an emergency. Stay Connected on the Go Cellular Carrier: When flying internationally even if just over the border it is extremely important to contact your cell phone carrier (Example: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint) to verify if your plan covers all of the countries that will be visited. Roaming fees are expensive. If your plan does NOT cover, for example Canada, ask for a “Travel Pass” to be added to your cell phone or data plan which are typically significantly cheaper than roaming fees. Consider a Canadian SIM card or an international roaming plan to stay in touch during your trip. Wi-Fi & Internet: Free Wi-Fi is common in airports, cafes, and hotels, but rural areas may have limited service. To avoid “Roaming Charges” always place the phone on “Airplane Mode”, connect to the available Wi-Fi, and change the final setting to enable “Wi-Fi Calling.” No Roaming Fees: To be absolutely sure that you are not on roaming data, after putting phone / tablet on “Airplane Mode” with “Wi-Fi” connect. Consider using apps such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Facetime or Google Meet to stay connected with others. OUTDOORS FIELD REPORTS & COMMENTS We want to hear from you! As we wrap up our series, Airplane Mode, Pastor Tammy beautifully illustrates how God designed us for community, drawing from personal experiences and the story of the woman at the well to show that vulnerability and connection lead to transformation. She challenges us to embrace God's plan for our lives by stepping out of isolation and into relationships that multiply joy and healing. Before takeoff and shortly before landing, flight attendants ask passengers to switch their electronic devices to flight mode. However, far from everyone complies because we just don't understand how our small smartphones can interfere with the operation of a high-tech aircraft. This seemingly simple command leaves us with the questions “Why?” and “What will happen if I don't?” And some of us, particularly the brave and rebellious types, choose to leave our gadgets. So, why do we have to turn off our phones for takeoff and landing? Get ready to find out the answer to this inquiry and many others. In the third week of our Airplane Mode series, Pastor Dustin dives into the importance of Sabbath. He explains that Sabbath is both a command and a gift from God, designed to provide rest, renewal, and spiritual refueling. In the midst of our busy lives, taking intentional time to stop, play, and pray allows us to restore our souls and align with God's design for our well-being. How to charge your phone fast? How many times have you been heading out the door only to notice that your phone battery is about to die? Then comes the mad dash to find your charger and plug it in ASAP. But you don't have time to wait for it to charge all the way! So, what can you do to get a fast charge? It turns out many phones start to charge faster and more effectively if you take off the case. When you keep certain types of cases on while charging your phone, this can cause your device to overheat. That's why if you feel that your smartphone tends to get too hot while it's on the charger, try removing the case. If you wanna know what other mistakes you make when charging your smartphone, watch the video! TIMESTAMPS: Not charging your smartphone from a wall socket 0:41 Not charging your portable charger 1:30 Using an improper USB adaptor 2:16 Constantly checking your battery charge level 3:04 Not switching off features you don't need at the moment 3:42 Not turning on Airplane Mode 4:12 Not using Battery-saving mode 5:00 Not removing the case 5:40 Letting your phone get hot 6:15 Using wireless charging 7:03 Not maintaining your battery 7:35 Believing popular hacks that promise to charge your phone in 10 seconds 8:12 #chargingphonefast #smartphonebattery Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: Charging a smartphone from a laptop with the help of a USB cord is undoubtedly super convenient. But it'll take as much as one hour longer than when you use a wall socket. If you don't have a portable power bank, consider getting one because it's a great investment. You need to get an adaptor that puts out exactly as much power as your phone can handle. Some smartphones have their own wall adaptors but you can also use other models that have similar features. Lighting up your smartphone's screen kills the battery almost as fast as using the Internet does. So when you constantly check your battery level as your phone's charging, you're only slowing down the whole process. If you're in a hurry, it may slip your mind to check if you have some unnecessary apps open and running on your smartphone. Things like Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth just drain your phone's battery power and slow down the charging process. When your smartphone is switched on, it needs a lot of energy to function. If you think that turning the display off means your cell phone doesn't expend energy anymore, that's just not true. Battery-saving mode can really come in handy when you need to make your phone last for as long as possible. But few people know that switching this mode on can also make charging much faster. Remove the cover from your smartphone before you plug it in to charge. You shouldn't let your device become too hot when it's charging. Try to charge it in a cool place. Wireless charging is certainly very convenient. At the same time, wireless chargers still can't fill your phone's battery as fast as usual wired chargers can. If you do regular battery maintenance, you'll prolong the lifespan of your phone's battery. On top of that, you won't have any problems with the speed at which it charges. And this widely-advertised method of charging your phone in 10 seconds is nothing but a myth. We are living in a Fortean reality with apocalyptic sights and sounds on an increase and that permeate the senses of those receptive to such synchromystic phenomenon; especially, within the aviation and UFO realm. It is like superposition or Deja vu where we see two or more unexplained events happen at the same time –or repeat themselves which triggers other anomalous events. In the final week of "Airplane Mode," we explored the necessity of a Christ-centered community. We looked at how deep, meaningful fellowship goes beyond socializing and fulfills a God-given longing for connection. Unlike shallow connections, true fellowship is both consistent and life-sustaining, and it's foundational for growing in faith.Need Prayer?
I'm a historic guy. They could put me in a museum. I went to college when tuition was $71/quarter so we didn't have to ask our parents for money so we got to go into the arts. There were no laptops, no iPhones, no Airplane Mode. I regaled the Lovelanders with stories about the Fifties, back when Minnesota winters were ferocious. I lived through the bitter winter of 1948 when the temp got down to minus 70 and many of us Minnesotans became comatose, our metabolism stopped, there was no neurological response, and a month later I awoke in a narrow wooden box wearing makeup, which I'd never worn before. It was interesting. I should've dressed more warmly but as someone said, “Good judgment comes from experience and much experience comes from bad judgment.” And thanks to my mistake I have experienced the afterlife and I told them about it in Loveland. Someday I'll come to your town and tell you. This is a public episode. In a secular world, it is the job of Christians to unify and come together in harmony. As we engage in society, we should be In It, Not Of It. In this week's message, Pastor Todd Doxzon teaches from John 17 and encourages us to stay true to the Lord. As we unite in love and purpose, so we can help people experience God's best for their lives!

Summer is a time when many Americans are taking off from work and setting their sights on far-off vacation destinations: tropical beaches, fairy-tale cities, sun-drenched countrysides. But in her book Airplane Mode, the reluctant travel writer Shahnaz Habib warns of recklessly embracing what she calls "passport privilege," — and how that can skew peoples' images of what the world is and who it belongs to.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
