All Disney networks, including ESPN, went dark on Charter's Spectrum cable systems on Aug. 31, affecting close to15 million subscribers. Pod hosts Andrew Marchand and John Ourand discuss how ESPN and Charter got to this point and predict what should happen next. The outcome of this deal has tentacles well beyond just ESPN and Charter. It has big ramifications for the entire sports business. Just a couple of days before the start of the NFL's regular season, Marchand and Ourand identify the NFL media story lines they will be following most closely this season. And they discuss Chris Fowler's Instagram video explaining why he made several mistakes announcing a recent college football game. Fox Sports' top NFL broadcast booth of Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen join the pod as The Big Get this week. The duo tell stories from last season when they replaced Joe Buck and Troy Aikman as the top crew. And they talk about the specter of another season calling games with Tom Brady waiting in the wings to take over as Fox's top NFL analyst for the 2024-25 season. Marchand brings out his Brady Meter for this conversation. Burkhardt and Olsen also discuss some of the biggest sports media stories, including the current state of college athletics. Jackie Haxthausen is the owner and photographer behind LeeKay Photography. This episode we discuss how she listened to her heart and made the leap from Pediatric cardiology doing heart ultrasounds, to capturing people's heart through her photography. We also discuss how she manages to get such beautiful light, creative composites and we even discuss how her business is named for her two girls, Liora Elizabeth and Emmeline Kay. LEEKay. Sorry for the spoiler there. But you must follow Jackie on Instagram for incredible use of light, color and a little bit of pure magic! We asked Jackie for her top 5 cinematic influences, and being the over achiever she is, she gave us SIX.1. Wes Anderson The Royal Tennanbaums and Grand Budapest Hotel 2. The Sound of Music, for so many reasons, the era, the set and location, the music and the gorgeous colors all shot on film3. All Disney animated musicals. Just can’t narrow that down. But maybe Sleeping Beauty is one of the most impressive to me when I see all those hand painted scenes 4. Pride and Predjuce 2005 - the use of light, the soundtrack, and it’s just one of the best stories ever. Name another sunrise scene that’s better, can’t. And I love all things Victorian 5. Moulin Rouge colors, music, sets all of it. Saw it 5 times in the theater 6. Little Women 1994 and the 2019. I thought the brilliant use of color grading in the new one to show a flashback was so impactful to tell the story in a new way. And those costumes. Welcome to Deep in the Plus, where each week, we go deep into some of the gems in the Disney+ vault. So this week, we have a really overlooked movie – Tall Tale. Released in 1995, Tall Tale is a movie where legendary American folk heroes come to life! 12-year-old Daniel Hackett (played by Nick Stahl) embarks on a quest to save his father's farm from a greedy land baron (played by Scott Glenn). As Daniel struggles to help his dad, he encounters storybook characters such as the tornado-roping Pecos Bill (played by Patrick Swayze) and hammer-wielding John Henry (played by Roger Aaron Brown), as well as gun-toting Calamity Jane (played by Catherine O'Hara) and ax-hauling Paul Bunyan (played Oliver Platt) with his loyal blue ox, Babe. So, join us as we spin some tall tales of our own, and take you... deep in the plus! Disney's Tall Tale Tall Tales, in general, are a fundamental element of American folk literature. It's our version of mythology, and are based in our own history. These characters were likely based on real people, but as the stories were passed from one to another, they became exaggerated and then... legendary! Disney did an amazing job weaving some of the biggest heroes of the genre into an entertaining and cohesive film. This movie is most definitely a forgotten gem in Disney history. It was basically a box office failure and didn't receive great reviews when it came out, so it's very likely you missed this one the first time around. With a good story and an incredible cast, Tall Tale is part western, part action, part family and ALL Disney! But let us know what YOU think! And don't forget, in every episode of Deep in the Plus, you'll get bonus recommendations as we present our "Pick of the Week." This is where we offer suggestions on even more gems from the Disney+ vault. Don't miss it! Our review of Tall Tale is the 10th episode of Deep in the Plus! Just mention that you heard about ConciEARS from DLWeekly at booking!News:On Saturday, March 14th, Disneyland took an unprecedented step and closed its gates until at least the end of March, but probably much longer. The state of California had given Disneyland an exemption to the mandate of no more than 250 people in one location, but Disney decided to close the park anyway. As of this recording, all Disney parks around the world are closed. Currently, the plan is to keep them closed until the end of the month, but the Centers for Disease Control have recommended no large gatherings for the next 8 weeks. That would put us at the week of May 3rd. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/03/12/news-disneyland-to-temporarily-close-this-saturday-due-to-coronavirus-concerns/ and https://www.micechat.com/254305-new-cdc-recommendations-hint-at-delay-in-disney-parks-reopening/With the closure of the parks, there was a lot of food on hand that would have gone bad. Disney has donated the excess food to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. This includes dairy, fruit, vegetables, packaged goods, and banquet meals. Last year, Disney donated over 20,000 meals to Second Harvest. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/03/13/news-disneyland-will-be-donating-its-excess-food-during-coronavirus-closure/For Annual Passholders, the closure brings up additional questions. If you paid for 365 days of access, but the park is closed, how is the resort handling that? Disneyland has stated that valid annual passholders will have their passes expiration date extended based on the pass type and level of access due to impacts of the closure. What about monthly payments? Disneyland will still collect the monthly payment as scheduled. Payment will not be required for the extended period. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/03/14/updates-for-disneyland-resort-annual-passholders-during-coronavirus-closure/The Disney College Program, which employed thousands of college students at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, was suspended on March 15th, with all participants required to leave the housing provided by Disney by March 18th. Participants will be paid through the end of the month and not be charged for housing. They will receive a completion certificate, allowing them to work for the company again in the future. Disneyland has approximately 4-500 students, while Disney World has 3-4,000 students. – https://www.micechat.com/254103-disney-suspends-college-program-due-to-park-closures/For those guests that stuck it out in the rain, Disneyland gave a touching farewell. A lot of characters, music, and cast, along with Disneyland Resort President Rebecca Campbell, gathered at the Main Street Train Station to say goodbye for now. The Disneyland Resort Ambassadors posted a video of the event that we have linked in the show notes. – https://www.micechat.com/254297-disneyland-news-update-the-unthinkable-happens/ and https://www.facebook.com/disneylandambassador/videos/1813447722119647/On the last day of operation for the resort before the closure, crowds were light. Part of the reason for this was the rain. Everytime it rains, the resort has lower crowd levels. Based on this, it is hard to tell how much lower the guest turnout was based on COVID-19 alone. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/03/13/photos-see-what-crowds-are-like-at-disneyland-the-day-before-park-closure-due-to-coronavirus-concerns/With the parks closed, Disneyland has wasted no time in starting on a number of projects. Refurbishments of attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean have been started, pavement on Main Street has been torn up, and, of course, deep cleaning is happening all over the resort. However, come Monday, all that work has been halted and only a skeleton crew is on site in the parks. – https://www.micechat.com/254297-disneyland-news-update-the-unthinkable-happens/ and https://www.micechat.com/254394-disneyland-update-part-2-tragic-happens/Downtown Disney has adjusted operating hours from it’s usual 7am to 1am, now operating from 10am to 10pm. All Disney owned locations will be closed. – https://www.facebook.com/DisneylandToday/photos/a.415645595174359/3601635533242000/?type=3&theater and https://www.ocregister.com/2020/03/16/disney-closes-company-operated-stores-in-downtown-disney-amid-coronavirus-outbreak/Salt and Straw in Downtown Disney has changed it’s hours from 10am to midnite, to 1pm-11pm until further notice. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/03/15/salt-and-straw-temporarily-changes-its-hours-in-downtown-disney/The Founder of the Walt Disney Archives is currently scheduled to get a window on Main Street on June 22nd. Dave Smith founded the archives 50 years ago on June 22nd. – https://www.micechat.com/254394-disneyland-update-part-2-tragic-happens/Discussion Topic:The Disneyland Resort has posted a great guide on their website that we have linked directly in the show notes, on refunds and cancellations. They recommend trying to cancel reservations online as they are experiencing heavy call volume at this time. One day theme parks tickets that are unused are valid through December 30, 2021. Multi-Day tickets are valid through January 12, 2022. Promotional tickets vary by ticket type, see the link in the show notes for specific details. Hotel reservations for the duration of the closure can be cancelled and receive a full refund. Vacation packages booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company can receive a full refund. Dining, and other activity reservations will also be fully refunded. Special event tickets like Villains Nite will be automatically refunded within 30 days and do not require any guest interaction. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/travel-information/

Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
**Headphones suggested** Join myself and Superdry as we make our way through the streets of Hong Kong and onto the metro system headed to Sunny Bay Station which connects to the Hong Kong Disneyland line. The one and only stop, of course, is Hong Kong Disneyland. Afterwards, I make my exciting steps onto property thus marking the end to my Disney Park World Tour. Looking back, I visited all 11 of the Disney Parks across the world in under a years time. Here is a run down of that busy year of travel: May 08 - Disneyland (2 parks) July 08 - Tokyo Disney (2 Parks) Sept 08 - WDW (4 Parks) Oct 08 - Disneyland Paris (2 Parks) Dec 08 - WDW Jan 09 - WDW April 09 - Tokyo Disney / *Hong Kong Disneyland* So there you have it. All Disney parks on Earth in less than 12 months. It's far from an impossible feat but, dare I say, a dream come true for a Disney park fan *cough* dork. Hong Kong Disneyland is a small park which most would consider a "half day" park attraction wise. What it lacks in the realm of attractions, it makes things up with some of the most beautifully landscaped grounds and surroundings. The spit and polish witnessed at the park itself is just as impressive as the Tokyo Disney Resort. However, the "newness" of this park mixed with the culture leaves things feeling a little sterile, empty, and there is much room (literally) for improvement. During this podcast you will experience most of the park's attractions with us, STORIES ABOUT HOOKERS, an edited portion of their daytime parade called Disney on Parade, and various other Meanderings. It's most interesting to spend an entire day Meandering with us at this somewhat odd Disney Park. It was an interesting experience which left a handful of things to be desired. Overall, I do have high hopes for this Disney destination in the future. It's a promising Disney park located in one of the most amazing destinations in the East. Got ya wondering about the hookers, don't I? LOL podcast@meanderingmouse.com Flickr: flickr.com/photos/meanderingmouse twitter: meanderingmouse plurk: meanderingmouse Have fun and Enjoy!
