In this episode, we revisit the riveting tale of Jessica McClure Morales, famously known as "Baby Jessica," who, at just 18 months old, fell into a well in Midland, Texas, in 1987. Over 56 tense hours, rescuers battled to free Jessica from the 8-inch well casing, employing innovative waterjet cutting technology. Amid drilling, the world listened as Jessica sang "Winnie the Pooh" from her precarious position. Media frenzy ensued, with CNN covering the global outpouring of support. President Ronald Reagan even declared the nation as Jessica's collective godparents. Photographer Scott Shaw received a Pulitzer for the iconic image capturing her rescue. The aftermath revealed Jessica's resilience, facing potential amputation but emerging with only a toe lost. Yet, the impact lingered, with paramedic Robert O'Donnell tragically succumbing to PTSD. This brief episode encapsulates the highs and lows, from the triumphant rescue to the personal struggles faced by those involved. This week, it's icebergs and Icelandic monsters!First, Felicia discusses the Titan submarine incident that's been sinking the news recently. In case you live under a rock (or an actual iceberg) and haven't seen the headlines, a small submersible carrying 5 people (including the founder of the company that operates the vessel) to explore the wreckage of the Titanic went mysteriously missing, thus giving us this generation's “Baby Jessica in the well.” But with all of our modern technology, how can something like this happen?! *For the record, we recorded this episode prior to recent findings from the international recovery team that discovered debris from the submarine, confirming a catastrophic imploding of the vessel on its descent. All five people onboard are now believed to have been instantly killed in the incident.  Our hearts will go on…Next, Lauren tells us about the Draugr - an undead creature from Nordic folklore / Scandinavian saga literature and folktales! The Draugr may have similarities to other creatures we know - zombies, ghosts, or even vampires…but it's their magical abilities set them apart. We're talking shape-shifting, seeing the future, cursing victims, creating temporary darkness in the day, possessing superhuman strength, entering the dreams of the living, being immune to all weapons…even controlling the weather! If this sounds like something out of a J.R.R Tolkien novel, you're right on the "barrow-wight.”PS: If you have requests for future episodes or just want to hang out, follow us on Instagram @sinistersisterspodcast

Since starting the podcast, I have often discussed how the mind and body are closely intertwined and how during our grief, one affects the other. Grief doesn't just make us sad. It impacts every aspect of our lives including our bodies. Just a few weeks ago, Gwen and I did an entire episode focusing on how our bodies are affected by grief. As we were preparing for that episode, Gwen suggested talking with today's guest, Cindi, due to her expertise in the area. Unfortunately, numerous scheduling difficulties made that impossible, but after talking with Cindi, I now understand why Gwen felt so strongly about having Cindi on the podcast. Cindi is a nurse by training so knew a lot about the functioning of the body. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as a teen so knew the medical system long before her nursing training even started. I think all of us instinctively know that there is a body-mind connection, but it is not something that is really taught in Western medicine. We learn a disease model and are taught which medications or procedures to use in order to cure the disease state.  When Cindi's newborn daughter, Jessica, died during childbirth, Cindi really began to see just how much grief and stress impacted her physical health. She was living in chronic stress and although the body is amazingly resilient in many ways, it can only adapt and compensate so much. For Cindi, the chronic stress eventually led to liver failure which forced her to stop taking her arthritis meds. No arthritis medication meant that even getting out of bed was almost impossible. On the advice of a trainer, Cindi turned to functional medicine for answers and it completely changed her life. Now, Cindi's body and mind are both healthy, and she truly feels like she has an understanding of how grief and other life stresses affect the body. She works with individuals and their doctors to help them find a way to help their bodies find a state of wellness. To learn more, join Cindi's Wellness Warriors Facebook group or email her at cindiraymond@onpurposeLLC.org.

Pastor Steve Perez | November 29, 2022 The Fountain Apostolic Church House of Prayer (2022) Learn more at tfachurch.com/plus Sermon Notes: Prophetic (Isaiah 9:6) Fulfillment (John 3:16) Christians the world over celebrate Christmas in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Various Christmas traditions have been associated with the celebration of Christmas, and different cultures celebrate different ways. The unifying factor is the historical fact that Jesus was born. Luke 2:10-11 We celebrate Christmas because, as the angel said, the birth of Jesus Christ is “good news.” Good news is meant to be celebrated. In fact, the angel said the news of Jesus' birth would cause “great joy” and would be “for all the people”—the joyful celebration would be universal. People around the globe would be glad for this occasion. We celebrate Christmas because, as the angel said, “A Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” The three titles the angel applies to Jesus are important. Jesus is the Savior who delivers us from sin and death. Matthew 1:21 He is the human Messiah (or Christ) who fulfills the Law and the Prophets, showing that God is faithful. Matthew 5:17 And He is the divine Lord who has entered our world: the Almighty has taken on human flesh; God and man have been fused together in an indivisible, eternal bond; God is truly with us. Matthew 1:23 In celebrating Christmas, we celebrate the Savior, because we needed deliverance. We celebrate the Christ in whom all of God's promises are “Yes” and “Amen” 2 Corinthians 1:20 We celebrate the Lord who in humility took on “the very nature of a servant” for our sake. Philippians 2:6–8 We celebrate Christmas with gift-giving because of the “indescribable gift” that God gave to us 2 Corinthians 9:15 Perfect Gift (James 1:17) In celebrating Christmas, we celebrate the love of God. In Texas in 1987, a toddler by the name of Jessica McClure fell into an eight-inch well casing. Down she went, becoming stuck twenty-two feet below ground. Once people discovered that “Baby Jessica” was in the well, they took immediate action. They didn't tell her to find a way to climb back up, and they didn't just shout happy thoughts to encourage her. No, they went down to where she was and got her. They did whatever it took. Rescuers worked nonstop for fifty-eight hours to free her. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve fell. Down they went, dragging all humanity with them into the darkness and death of sin. And what did God do? He did not tell us to find our own way out of the mess we were in, and He did more than shout down happy thoughts to us from heaven. No, He came down to where we were and got us. Savior (Philippians 2:6-8) That's what Christmas is all about—God's coming down to rescue us, to do whatever it took to deliver us from sure death. When even one person is in a life-threatening situation, we understand what has to be done. When God looked down at our sinful planet, He saw a whole world of people in mortal danger. We celebrate Christmas because it was at His birth that the Rescuer of all mankind came to save us from the hopeless situation we were in. God did not stay in heaven; He came down to where we are.

What's new, ya spoopy buncha pumpkin chuckers! Mike, Andrew and Alissa are hot on the trail of the precocious pampered princess Madelina Castlevanders, and although she's slippery much like... I'm trying to think of a simile here... KY? I mean I guess that works but it's not exactly as artful as I'd like to be.  Anyway, this sneaky little Daria wannabe straight up ran away from home to do who knows what! I saw a thing on the local new that said teens are 'blumping.' Apparently, it's when you collect your little cousin's urine in a mason jar and hide it behind the fridge. I guess it gets you high and we should all be worried.  But tbh I don't even trust the news anymore. Also, Dalton's married! Yay, Dalton! We truly worried he was incapable of intimacy, but he proved us so wrong! He's straight up married now! Didn't invite any of us, because he "just wanted to keep it to family and that's it." But we're not bitter or anything. This reminds me of a story. It must have been junior year of college. Dalton had a birthday party where the theme was himself. Called it "Dalt-a-palooza." Him and a bunch of us theatre kids went to his family's lima bean farm (I know! Lame right? But apparently, lima beans make you ungodly stinking rich... Go figure!) So all and all, the party is going pretty good! Dalton and a bunch-a-freegin' dorks are doing arhythmic, elbow-y white kid dancing in a barn that I'm sure was haunted by antebellum plantation owners, and everyone's drinking Avengers themed drinks they found on Pinterest like virginal little nerds. A few hours later, Dalton is done frenching his life-sized, black & white portrait of himself (a thing he actually owned and displayed), and his liver almost exploded. So since everyone was too drunk to drive, they had to call the ambulance to take him to the emergency room so he could get his stomach pumped. Also, pretty sure he pooped himself.  Anyway, I forgot where that was going, but congrats again, Dalton! Hope you make use of the Vitamix. Back to the story! Since this is a stealth mission, our gang has to tiptoe carefully so as not to tip off this teen that she's being tactfully tailed, but something's rotten in the state of Waterdeep. Our moody mark is exhibiting some mysterious behaviors... and our heroes will all to quickly find this rabbit hole goes all the way down. Where does the thread end when the sweater unravels? Will our ragtag group of merry adventurers be able to steal away in the shadows long enough to find what Madelina is up to? And can horses truly feel what it means to love?? Tune in to find out what these goons get into in this week's DUNGEON RADIO HOUURRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;Our DM is Dalton RiddleOur Players are Andrew Gehrlein, Michael Adair & Alissa AdairEditing by Alissa, Michael, and AndrewTheme song (both old and new!!) by Dustin Hook (so talented)Please check out our Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok @dungeonradiohour to keep up with the latest DRH news! bye for now~
