Doing Divorce Different A Podcast Guide to Doing Divorce Differently
Today we are joined by Rhonda Noordyk who is a financial strategist for women going through a divorce. Rhonda is an incredible resource for women who are thinking about moving forward with divorce or who are in the trenches of their divorce journey. During the episode we discuss the biggest challenge for women who are going through the separation process, how women can become more confident, and then Rhonda summarizes her signature program. Tune in today as there is so many incredible nuggets Rhonda shares with us! In this episode: [3:02] Rhonda tells us why she became a financial strategist for divorce. [5:52] What does Rhonda see as the biggest challenge for women facing divorce? [7:00] How does Rhonda help people decide whether it's time to stay or go? [10:59] How can women become more confident through the divorce process? [13:30] Rhonda gives us an example of how she gained experience in an unknown area. [18:32] What is Rhonda's signature process for helping women financially through a divorce? Key Takeaways: The first step before even looking at the budget is working through the fear and the things holding you back. With the right team in place, the finances can be manageable, but believing in yourself and finding your courage are the first steps to making the divorce experience smoother. The budget previews the current and future but also helps with negotiations. Pretty much any question that is asked pretty much goes back to the budget. Knowledge + Experience = Confidence. If we know without experience, it's just theory. If we have just experience but not knowledge, it's just trial and error, but those two things working together are really powerful. Quote: “Look at all the things you've done to get to this point. You are capable; you're smart; you're able to make big, great decisions. Not saying we don't need input, but we have to limit the amount of noise that we have in our mind and start reacquainting ourselves with our own brilliance and ability to make decisions” - Rhonda Noordyk Guest Bio: Rhonda Noordyk, CDFA® | CDS 5 Unspoken Truths about Money & Divorce7 Secrets to Winning Divorce Negotiations3 Key Chess Strategies that Apply to Divorce What is THE question you often get? It brings people together and don’t we all want that for our children, our families, our community, and the world? Try to be kind to others to try and make a difference in the world, and also practice to try and make a difference in your own life as well. Face your fear of failing The fear of failing can be immobilizing – it can cause us to do nothing, and therefore resist moving forward. But when we allow fear to stop our forward progress in life, we're likely to miss some great opportunities along the way. what makes us fearless is not the fact that we do not experience fear, but that we are confident that we can deal with the consequences of our actions. Instead of talking yourself out of the fear by hoping that nothing negative would happen, focus on building confidence to deal with the consequences. Randi Levin, founder & CEO, Randi Levin Coaching – is a nationally recognized transitional life strategist, Fortune 500 keynote, author, & reinvention expert. Randi supports women in becoming legends in their own lives through redefining legacy as a power tool for change and redirection TODAY. You may have seen her featured in Thrive Global, HuffPost, Better After 50, Reader’s Digest, Working Mother Magazine, American Express Open Forum, or The WSJ. Randi is also contributing author in Get RESULTS! Playing Small Moment Randi was convinced that she had to choose one thing or another in life. She thought her kids would be her legacy, until she realized that her legacy wasn’t just what she was leaving behind, but what she could create in the current moment. Once Randi embraced the use of and instead of or, her life changed. Style of Leadership Randi leads by example. Once she commits to something, she is all in, and wants others to do the same. What Are You Excited About? Randi is thrilled to be hosting her first retreat in April 2019 that will take 10 women on a personal and cultural journey in Italy. Current Business Challenge Randi will be downsizing her home and relocating. She plans to document this journey to provide relatable content for her audience that may help someone in the same situation. Leadership Practice When Randi was just starting out, she was told to “Just start.” So, she goes through life saying yes now, and figuring out all the details later. Randi believes there is no one right way, but you have to take that path forward to the thing you want without overthinking it. Advice For Younger Self Randi would tell her younger self, “Believe in yourself.” Success is a three letter word, and that word is now. You’ve got this. If this doesn’t work out, there will be something else, but don’t hold yourself. Be curious about the things you most want. Inspirational Quote “We tend to think of our legacy as something we leave behind at the end of our lives, but what would you do differently today if you believed that you had the choice to carve out exactly what you wanted that legacy to be in real time? Manifest that concept and magically you do have that choice. You are your own GPS in your life. Start by having a voice. Say yes by listening to that voice. What’s next? Now is your new next.” Links Website: https://randilevincoaching.com/Email: randi@randilevincoaching.comFree giveaway: https://randilevincoaching.com/balance Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RandiLevinCoaching Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/randilevincoachLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/randiclevin/Twitter: https://twitter.com/randilevincoachYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9GYtxz1RRqAl5g39kuXJ-Q Thank You to Our Sponsors Zebralove Web Solutions: Your website tells a story about your business! Calling all those who have ever felt busy, stressed or food obsessed – this podcast is for you! Today I'm speaking with Health & Lifestyle Coach and author of the award winning book, “Busy, Stressed, and Food Obsessed!” - Lisa Lewtan. She shares wonderful insight into the correlation between being busy and stressed and how it can impact our eating habits. We discuss the importance of recognizing and understanding some of the emotional triggers and habits that lead us to food for pleasure as well as the ability to work past these feelings through meditation and thought control. Through private coaching, online courses, workshops, and retreats, Lisa helps highly successful hungry go-getters to slow down, chill-out, develop a better relationship with food and stress, look good, and feel great. She has been featured in numerous publications including The Boston Globe, The Huffington Post, MindbodyGreen, and Better After 50, and has been a speaker at companies such as Canyon Ranch and Google. “We're using “busyness” to hide other things about ourselves. We tend to define ourselves by the things we are doing rather than just who we are.” – Lisa Lewtan On Today's Episode of A Healthy Curiosity: Are we wearing our “busyness” as a badge of honor? Being aware of the language around the word busy. Balancing the “have-tos,” the “wanna-dos” and the “shoulds.” How the stress of being busy can lead to food obsession. In a fight or flight situation, where do we flee to mentally? Do we really know what it feels like to be biologically hungry? The process and benefits of interrupting habits. How does stress, worry and self-doubt relate to self-love? Key Takeaway: So many times when we think we're hungry, we're really not – we're just not present with where we are. Why are we so busy? Do we have to be busy? Do we want to be busy? Do we feel like we should be busy? We all heard that Laughing is the best medicine. Vikki is with us today to teach us how we can laugh away our problems. You can listen to the show at http://rockyourretirement.libsyn.com/laughing-with-parkinsons-episode-26 Vikki is an international best-selling author, humor blogger, and inspirational public speaker. She wrote the book, “Shake, Rattle, and Roll with It – Living and Laughing with Parkinson's“. Since my father has Parkinson's Disease, I had to get her on the show! She did not disappoint! We talked about her book, her life, and our ailments, including my dystonia. Shake, Rattle, and Roll with It- Living and Laughing with Parkinson's: A few weeks after her first book, “Shake, Rattle, & Roll With It, Living & Laughing with Parkinson’s”’ came out, she received an email from a woman who said, “My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s ten years ago. Since then, no one in the house has ever been allowed to talk about it, or even mention the word ‘Parkinson’s.” This created a lot of stress for the family as we all tried to pretend she wasn’t shaking or stumbling. Any reference to her condition was immediately shut down. I bought her your book and set it on her nightstand. She read the whole thing in one sitting that night. The next morning, she came down for breakfast and began talking about her Parkinson’s like it was the weather. She now talks about it and even laughs about it easily. The elephant in the room is gone. Thank you, thank you. Thank you.” We wanted to bring Vikki's award-winning humor to our audience, considering that many of us have parents and loved once with Parkinson's Disease (including myself). I wanted to find out how she is laughing with Parkinson's, and she sure let us know! After all, her name has “laugh” in it! Vikki gives us a glimpse into what it's like to have the disease, and how anyone can kick their troubles in the butt by continuing to laugh, regardless of your circumstances. She had to work five jobs just to get back on her feet again. One day Lee burst into tears thinking she was never going to get to walk on the path she was on before everything hit the fan. The Wake Up Call One of Lee’s aha moments was when she was at a marketing session for teachers. The keynote speaker sought her out at the break and told her she should be speaking professionally. Little by little she started connecting with like-minded people. She realized at that moment that she was fully back to life again. Lee dusted her self off and got back on the path. She hasn’t stopped writing since. Style of Leadership Lee’s style of leadership is relationship oriented. She relates to people and always empowers them. Lee never takes anything or anyone for granted. She also uses humor as a helpful breaking point for tension. What Are You Excited About? Lee has a story in the book called Feisty After 45: The Best Blogs of Mid-life Women. She is also being featured on a website called Next Act for Women, and is also doing a mini re-launch of her book, My Pineapples Went to Houston, by giving a 21st century spin on it. Leadership Practice Assessing herself honestly and taking inventory is Lee’s leadership practice. She has learned to outsource as she realized her time is better spent on her core strengths. Different does not mean ‘less than’. Book to Develop Leadership You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay Advice For Younger Self Don’t hold yourself back! Lee would do this to make sure she wasn’t outshining others. Distinguishing your light doesn’t help them light theirs. Inspirational Quote “What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.” ~ T.S. Learning to have a healthier relationship with food is learning to better understand yourself and find the right balance that works for you. The problem with an all-or-nothing approach to healthy eating is that it's not sustainable. The goal is to feel good and to appropriately deal with stress. Rather than labeling foods as good or bad, think about them as “more often” and “less often.” Putting a negative connotation on our food choices only fuels the fire of self-judgment and keeps us in that awful stress mode. Tell yourself: Success is not about perfection; it's about how many times I get back on track after falling off.
