Book a podcast strategy call https://podcastprofitsunleashed.com/appointment    In this episode of her podcast, Karen Roberts delves into the essentials of podcasting productivity, sharing strategies to beat procrastination and stay organized. Karen begins by highlighting the critical role of commitment, emphasizing that 80% of success in podcasting comes from consistently showing up and trusting the process. Drawing from her experience as an entrepreneur and a podcaster, she discusses her personal challenges with organization, particularly in light of her self-diagnosed hyper-focused ADHD. This condition, she explains, has significantly influenced her work habits and productivity, making it imperative for her to find effective organizational strategies.   Karen shares how her background in the fitness industry, where she worked as a freelance instructor, laid the groundwork for her organizational skills. In this role, she had to adhere to a strict schedule and maintain high levels of accountability, which included being punctual and prepared for early morning classes. This structured environment suited her ADHD, as it left little room for decision-making and procrastination. However, transitioning to working alone as an entrepreneur presented new challenges. Without the external accountability she once had, Karen found herself struggling with procrastination and burnout, often leaving tasks to the last minute and working excessively to meet deadlines.   To address these challenges, Karen adopted the Pomodoro Technique, a time management method that involves working in focused 25-minute intervals followed by 5-minute breaks. She has customized this technique to fit her lifestyle, using the breaks to engage in micro workouts or other quick activities that help her stay energized. This approach prevents burnout and keeps her productivity levels high. She emphasizes the importance of having specific times booked in her calendar for various tasks, treating them as non-negotiable appointments. This level of organization allows her to manage her time effectively and ensures that important tasks get done without being overwhelming.   Karen also discusses the significance of task management, advising against having a long, daunting to-do list. Instead, she recommends focusing on a few key tasks each day, which makes it easier to stay on track and provides a sense of accomplishment. This method is particularly beneficial for those with ADHD, as it helps reduce feelings of overwhelm and confusion.   In terms of practical podcasting tips, Karen outlines a comprehensive process for managing the different aspects of podcast production. This includes preparing content, booking guests, handling post-production tasks, and engaging with the audience. She advises podcasters to mix solo episodes with interviews featuring clients or experts in their niche, and to be clear about the structure and expectations for each episode. Efficient post-production involves editing the episodes, creating graphics and show notes, and promoting the episodes through various channels. Karen highlights the importance of having a well-organized system for these tasks, using tools like calendars and project management software to keep everything on track.   Audience engagement is another crucial area Karen addresses. She suggests using newsletters and social media to consistently connect with listeners and promote new episodes. Regular content updates and interactions help grow and maintain the audience, which is essential for the podcast's success. Additionally, Karen touches on monetization strategies, encouraging podcasters to frequently promote their offers and services through their content.   To illustrate the importance of consistent action, Karen points out that simply launching a podcast is not enough; ongoing effort is required to drive leads and sales. By breaking tasks into manageable chunks and incorporating them into a daily routine, podcasters can avoid burnout and achieve long-term success. She underscores the necessity of clear processes and strategies, which help streamline the workflow and make daily tasks more manageable.   Looking ahead, Karen teases the next episode, where she will host Nicole Christina to discuss how to make memorable podcast appearances. She invites listeners to tune in and also encourages those interested in more personalized guidance to book a podcast strategy call through her website, Podcast Profits Unleashed. Karen concludes by thanking her audience and reminding them of the importance of persistence and organization in achieving podcasting success.

Today I'm talking about eating disorders with Nicole Christina, a psychotherapist with 30 years of specializing in eating disorders. And specifically we're going to talk about eating disorders in middle age. Nicole's own podcast, Zestful Aging, covers topics related to healthy aging and acknowledging that eating disorders don't just affect adolescents and teenagers is something we don't discuss enough. But we will remedy that lack of discussion today! I'm very excited to have Nicole with me because even though this a very serious topic, she has such lovely energy and our conversation was very engaging. I do want to caution all you listeners that we will talk very openly about eating disorders and that can be triggering for many of us. If it's triggering for you, take care of your needs and get some support before you dive into this episode.Nicole says that when clients come to her about depression or anxiety, issues that are not specifically food-related, she will ask them about their eating behaviors because so often there is a rigidity or distress mirrored in their relationship with food as well. When we make food restrictions, regulation, and disordered eating our focus, intentionally or not, we rob ourselves of living in a lot of ways. Because food is everywhere! We are surrounded by events that involve food and to constantly assess and measure in our minds takes away from enjoyment in other parts of life. Nicole and I talk extensively about the energy we put into calculating food intake, why we are fixated on controlling food, and how happiness really stems from health which isn't the same thing as restriction. Our conversation is very honest, about struggles and about how we work to overcome them in middle age. I enjoyed having Nicole on the show so much and I hope you get as much insight from her as I did.About Nicole ChristinaNicole Christina is the host of the multi-award winning Zestful Aging Podcast, an interview show heard in 106 countries. About 30 million Americans have an eating disorder. But when you think about anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating, you probably picture adolescent girls or young adults. That's because eating disorders tend to appear early in life and are more frequent in females than males. But it's estimated that about 13 percent of women over age 50 are living with an eating disorder.Eating disorder treatment centers like the Renfrew Center report a 42% increase over the last decade in women over age 35 seeking help. And because older women may not recognize the symptoms or are reluctant to admit it, the problem may be bigger than we realize. So today we are joined by Nicole Christina to talk about why we're seeing this trend increase in older women. Nicole Christina has been a psychotherapist for 30 years. She specializes in eating disorders and more recently has taken an interest in the challenges and joys of aging. Healthy women (all ages) and healthy men 65 and older: No more than 3 drinks in one day and no more than 7 drinks per week. One drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor. So remember that a mixed drink or full glass of wine are probably more than one drink. Abstinence from alcohol Abstinence from alcohol is the best choice for people who take medication(s) that interact with alcohol, have health conditions that could be exacerbated by alcohol (e.g. liver disease), are pregnant or may become pregnant or have had a problem with alcohol or another substance in the past. Benefits of “low-risk” drinking Following these guidelines reduces the risk of health problems such as cancer, liver disease, reduced immunity, ulcers, sleep problems, complications of existing conditions, and more. It also reduces the risk of depression, social problems, and difficulties at school or work.   This week on the podcast we continue in our series "Alcohol &" with a conversation about "Alcohol & Bingeing".  My guest is Nicole Christina, a pyschotherapist who has specialized in eating disorders and binge eating for the past 30 years. Our conversation today focuses on how bingeing is rooted in emotional immaturity and how we can uncover thoughts that are creating feelings that we want to escape from.  Distorted thinking can lead to bingeing behavior and whether it's drinking or eating, addressing the underlying thoughts and feelings is key to changing the behavior.  Our conversation shares some of the characteristics of bingeing and how they overlap with alcohol.   Binge drinking is the most common, costly, and deadly pattern of excessive alcohol use in the United States.1,2,3 Binge drinking is defined as a pattern of drinking that brings a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to 0.08 g/dl or above. This typically happens when men consume 5 or more drinks or women consume 4 or more drinks in about 2 hours. Learn more about Nicole Christina here.

I learned that kindness, with regard to the body, (and pretty much everything else), is essential; that the habit of judgment can be softened; that there is no such a thing as perfection; and that regardless of our shapes or sizes, our bodies, and ourselves, without exception, are worthy of our respect, kindness, and Love. Episode 15 In this episode psychotherapist and Zestful Aging Podcast Host talks about her reasons for getting outside and how she helps her clients to take an "aesthetic walk" outside. Nicole says by taking outside breaks you are respecting and resting your brain -- so you can feel better mentally and physically. Nicole Christina is the host of Zestful Aging Podcast, an interview show heard in 92 countries. She’s also a psychotherapist of 30 years, specializing in eating disorders. Find out more at ZestfulAging.com.Nicole Christina practices in Syracuse, NY, in the Syracuse University area. She specializes in food and body issues, mindfulness, and positive aging. I love her Podcast Zesful Aging, so much so that I asked Nicole if I could be on her podcast before I started mine. There we learned how much we both loved and needed nature. I will link to that podcast on my website Treesmendus.comNicole Christina in addition to being a podcaster, you are a psychotherapist. How does nature and your outside mindset figure into the way you treat clients? I have an example of a client I had yesterday. He was struggling like many people are these days, feeling very isolated. They were not able to do the things he normally does well – getting together with people, doing the hobbies that they normally do. Our lives are all up ended now. I asked him what has he been doing in terms of getting outside. I am not talking about a fitbit, 10,000 step walk, I talking about what I call “an aesthetic walk” which is just walking around for the value of being outside. And a lot of the value I learned from your book, but a lot of the value I don’t think we truly understand. But we know that we are outdoor creatures, that we evolved to be outside, and that not getting sunlight, not getting near trees, grasses… and just being in your apartment is going to cause trouble. It is going to make feeling bad even worse. So one of the prescriptions I gave him, and this is just a first session - and this is a guy who is pretty athletic - “I just want you to go on an aesthetic walk, you are not trying to increase your cardiovascular level, the whole point is to go outside to feel good: your body, your spirit, and of course we know it helps mood, anxiety, and emotional regulation. So that is sort of a basic prescription that I use for people who come to me and say “ I feel terrible; I am anxious.” It is not to say a walk around the block is going to cure everything. It is not going to cure Covid, worry about starting college, being scared, or solve the economic crisis, but it sure helps. And it is free, and we know it works. So that is something that is a go-to for me when I am evaluating someone, one of the questions I ask them is "how often do you get outside?" That is a long winded answer, but some of these things are basic. And I have been in practice for a long time, so I know to start with the fundamentals. I also ask how much coffee are you drinking? If the answer is I drink 12 cups and I am anxious, well maybe we should start there. Or I stay in my apartment, or I stay up until 2 in the morning watching Netflix…I mean there are certain things that we know our body needs – fresh air, fresh water, a decent diet, and limiting a lot of the toxins that come in (and that is literal and metaphorical). We need to be outside. Nobody comes back from a walk and says I wish I had not taken a walk. For a complete transcript of this episode please visit my website Treesmendus.com

Zestful Aging tours Purpose Farm, in Upstate New York, which is a unique nonprofit, hosting a free youth program for traumatized children and rescued animals. Children who have emotional trauma from abuse, neglect or being bullied, interact with animals from similar backgrounds. The Farm offers the children hope, joy, empathy and confidence. Animal mentors include horses, pigs, goats, donkeys, a variety of birds, alpacas and a camel. The bonds that form are nothing short of magical. Sheryl DiStefano is a OB/GYN PA who retired from clinical practice 7 years ago. She was introduced to Purpose Farm at a goat yoga class, which she begrudgingly attended. After class she toured the farm, and became a volunteer.
