This episode aired before the death of one of coon hunting's most successful and most colorful ambassadors. I hope you enjoy this replay from November of 2022. This episode takes us to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas to visit with coon hunting legend Junior Lasseter. At 73 years of age, Junior had amazing recall of events that led him from the Ozark hills to the major stages of competitive coon hunting, in the woods and on the bench. At one time in coon hunting history, there were many commercial coonhound and combination dog kennels operating out of the Ozarks. Ads appeared in the classified sections of not only the tree dog publications but in major outdoor magazines as well. Writers like Wilson Rawls created a narrative that the Ozarks were the cradle of coon hunting in America. Lasseter's stories emanate from the same root and place him as the perfect visitant to the Gone To The Dogs microphone. Lasseter has owned National Champions on the bench in both the UKC, PKC and ACHA registries and has a final four appearance in the UKC World Championship to his credit. He's the first, and perhaps only handler to win a pickup truck showing hounds. Lasseter's hounds like Table Rock Flying Hawk, Table Rock Mundo, Jr., Biggerstaff's Little Buck, and Morgan's Tree Jamming Mundar fill the conversations in this episode. Lasseter was known far and wide in the 80's when Steve began his career at the UKC registry. This episode is smothered with Ozark flavor, like cathead biscuits under a blanket of fried squirrel gravy. You'll enjoy Junior's stories. You'll want to follow them to the source, and you will, where mountain music echoes off the ridges and swells up from the cold stream hollers of tree dog country. The 50 Commands of Jesus: To Know and Obey (TKO) by JD BiggerstaffDid you know that Jesus gave 50 commands to his followers and disciples as recorded in the four Gospels? Many Christians claim Jesus is their LORD and SAVIOR. Most trust him as SAVIOR to keep them out of Hell, but fewer have truly made him LORD of their lives because they do not know his commands and obey them. This book lists Jesus' 50 commands and it explains how to apply them in modern living - i.e. what to know and do. It comes with a practical method of self-assessment to rate one's own obedience to Jesus' commands with the goal of improving one's Christian walk. if one is truly faithful and obedient, blessings will supernaturally begin to flow.JD Biggerstaff defines his purpose as "helping people learn how to live a truly blessed life."He believes strongly in the spiritual principles like sowing and reaping that govern and influence our lives and also in man's desperate need for God in the fallen world in which we live. His writings, both fiction and non-fiction, emphasize the need for knowledge of spiritual truths plus the courage to take bold action to positively impact our world.JD and his wife Lisa live in Denton, Texas , where he served the last 23 years of his career as a vice president of human resources for a large international retail chain. He voluntarily serves on the board of directors for a non-profit that feeds the hungry and shelters the homeless. He has a special interest in developing servant leaders who can bring out the best in the people they lead.https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-50-commands-of-jesus-jd-biggerstaff/1143947665?ean=9798890911438https://www.jdbiggerstaff.com/http://www.ReadersMagnet.com http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/51624tba.mp3

Join us as we welcome, Ben Biggerstaff to the podcast. Ben's most recent athletic pursuits have him logging big miles in the foothills of Boise, but his path to ultra trail running didn't stem from a history of running. Rather it was the desire to find something to manage his time with his growing family, and a desire to see what he was capable of, that encouraged his first steps. THE POX and PUSS PODCAST : An Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker Experience
We were so lucky to have Gordon Biggerstaff on our show this week!Pox caught 2014 Northbound Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker Gordon right before he left for his home in Scotland. We sat down at the Friends of the Smokies offices in Severirville, TN. Gordan was working the night shift when he listened to Bill Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods", and from there the inspiration began. There's a discussion of bears, ice cream, how surprisingly cold Georgia can be sometimes, lazy Rattlesnakes, and Nation Building. Gordon was also raising money for two separate charities as he hiked, one in the US and one in the UK US: http://www.ultimatehike.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1102602&lis=1&kntae1102602=E56FB158E34040719D0569153D0C2B8E&supId=401296454UK: https://www.justgiving.com/Gordon-Biggerstaff/ We also congratulate This week's Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers!
