Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss Cuba's alleged drone threat to the U.S., Trump's response to the latest inflation numbers and the quote Democrats will hammer him with, the passing of the $70 billion ICE funding bill, and the Congressional Baseball Game. First, Jim and Greg react to recent intelligence reports of Cuba acquiring over 300 drones from Russia and Iran, posing a risk to U.S. sites. Jim questions whether the U.S. should tackle another regime change abroad. Next, they address President Trump's “I love inflation” response to reporters after the 4.2 percent inflation rate was released. Ahead of midterm elections in November, Democrats are hoping to capitalize on Trump's comment. But Jim stresses that inflation will only get worse if Democrats control Congress. Then, they break down the recent $70 billion Secure America Act signed Wednesday by President Trump after months of resistance from Democrats. Jim and Greg point out Republicans only have a few more months before midterms until the next fight for funding. Finally, they highlight Wednesday's Congressional Baseball Game, and how the media rarely mention the 2017 shooting at a GOP practice that nearly killed Rep. Steve Scalise. Please visit our great sponsers:IncogniTake control of your digital footprint today. Florida Representative Greg Steube discusses the Congressional Baseball Game, a historic tradition where Republicans and Democrats compete to raise millions for local charities. As the winning pitcher, Steube highlights the event's massive popularity and its emotional significance, noting how the team continues to honor Steve Scalise following the 2017 practice shooting. The conversation then shifts to national security concerns, specifically the escalating tensions with Iran and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz. Drawing on his military background, Steube advocates for decisive action to protect global energy interests and ensure the safety of American service members abroad. Learn more about your ad choices. The topic of this episode is, “Does the Congressional Baseball Game increase collaboration in Congress?”Each June, members of our national legislature play ball. Democrats and Republicans from the House of Representatives each field a team, practice, and then play a game. The 2026 Congressional Baseball Game is on Wednesday, June 10, at 7:05 pm EDT at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. This tradition goes back to 1909, and the proceeds are contributed to charities.More than a few Americans have scoffed at this event and groused that elected officials should be inside the Capitol doing their jobs. And sadly, the Congressional Baseball Game has been targeted by political extremists. Environmental activists ran onto the field during the 2024 game in hopes of drawing attention to their cause. They got booed, rightly. And one far left kook shot Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and four other individuals at a practice for the game.My guest is SoRelle Wyckoff Gaynor. She is an assistant professor at the University of Virginia's Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. She is also a faculty affiliate at the Center for Effective Lawmaking, which produces studies that entail who in Congress gets things done—and who doesn't. SoRelle recently coauthored an article on the Congressional Baseball Game titled “Playing Ball: Collaboration in the U.S. Congress.”And I would be remiss if I did not mention that Professor Gaynor is the coauthor of Congress Explained: Representation and Lawmaking in the First Branch (CQ Press) and the author of the forthcoming book, Echo Chambers: How Partisan Communication Took Over Congress (University of Chicago Press).Read the full transcript here.

In this episode of the Chuck ToddCast, Chuck sits down with Reese Gorman and Kate Nocera of NOTUS for a deep dive into what it means to build a truly nonpartisan newsroom in today’s hyperpolarized media landscape. Reese and Kate explain how NOTUS approaches journalism without playing to partisan expectations—or to social media algorithms—and why being outside the legacy-media universe gives their reporters a unique advantage. They discuss Washington’s shifting culture, from the decline in local DC reporting to the increasingly strained relationship between the press and Congress, where competition for scoops is fierce, norms have evaporated in Trump’s second term, and newer members often lack any memory of a functional legislature. The conversation then turns to the political tensions shaping Capitol Hill, including Steve Scalise’s quiet maneuvering for the speakership, Trump’s latest approval dip, and the surprising lack of Trump fatigue among GOP lawmakers. Reese and Kate also outline the Democratic Party’s mix of opportunity and dysfunction heading into the midterms: strong messaging on affordability and bullish vibes contrasted with an inability to clear primary fields and a continued failure to operate as a true national party. From the dire mood on the Hill to which unknown members could soon be household names, this episode offers a sharp, insider look at journalism, politics, and power in Washington today. On today’s ToddCast, Chuck Todd breaks down Donald Trump’s sudden decision to fully engage on the economy—and why his proposals reveal both political vulnerability and economic incoherence. From promising $2.6 trillion in tariff revenue when only a fraction has ever been collected, to floating the idea of replacing income taxes with wildly regressive consumption taxes that would spike prices severalfold, Trump appears more focused on short-term optics than long-term consequences. Chuck also digs into Congress’ scramble to extend ACA subsidies—an issue so politically toxic for Republicans that even Trump may be forced to back the plan—and how the 2026 economic mood will shape the midterms. Plus, he examines the rise of Democratic “fighters” like Jasmine Crockett, the visibility boost for Gavin Newsom and Mark Kelly after their clashes with Trump, and why a politics obsessed with combat over substance leaves both parties drifting away from meaningful policy debates. Then, Chuck sits down with Reese Gorman and Kate Nocera of NOTUS for a deep dive into what it means to build a truly nonpartisan newsroom in today’s hyperpolarized media landscape. It's day 21 of the government shutdown, and Joe Pags is fired up! Pags lays out the truth about who's really to blame — and why Democrats seem more focused on fundraising than fixing the mess. He highlights Rep. Steve Scalise's fiery takedown of John Ossoff, who's under fire for raking in campaign donations while millions of Americans feel the effects of the shutdown. Then, Pags delivers a much-needed civics lesson for 2025, breaking down the fight over the continuing resolution: conservatives want to spend less, liberals want to spend more — plain and simple. It's classic Pags: blunt, bold, and full of the facts the mainstream won't touch. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

If you enjoy these shows, please check out "Celebrity Trials".Reid Carter examines the assassination attempts that failed and what they cost America in freedom. From the two women who tried to kill Gerald Ford in three weeks to Reagan taking a bullet and joking about it, every failed attempt brought more security, more restrictions, more walls between us and democracy. The Congressional baseball shooting that nearly killed Steve Scalise. The Trump golf course attempt just last year. Each failure didn't just traumatize victims - it transformed America into a security state where politicians hide behind bulletproof glass and democracy happens at a distance. Sunday proves surviving assassination might be worse than dying.Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Shark Media! Get all our shows on any player you love, hassle free! Simon Conway's interview with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Iowa Congressman Zach Nunn live from the Iowa State Fair during Tuesday's second hour.
We're all so shocked that Elon Musk's AI went full Fuhrer. An X user threatened to sue the social media platform after it's AI, Grok, told people how to break into his house. Linda Yaccarino, CEO X, resigned over Grok's praise of Hitler. Trump White House thugs sanctioned a UN official for making negative remarks about Israel. Podcast and scholar Scott Galloway perfectly summed up Elon Musk leaving verbose Piers Morgan speechless. Former second string FOX host and Sec Def, Pete Hegseth didn't tell President Diaper Rash he was halting defensive aid to Ukraine. MAGAT comic Roseanne Barr reminded the orange rapist how much his followers care about the Epstein files. In good news, USAID state department employees let go by Shitler are plotting against him. GOP load Steve Scalise actually did something good by demanding an Iranian's release from ICE.
Steve Scalise, himself a survivor of a 2017 assassination attempt, says Trump's personal style in dealing with Governor Walz does not equate to a lack of support for those murdered in Minnesota last month
On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, there is this Marxist-Islamist movement infiltrating U.S. institutions, especially the Democratic Party. ‘On Power' is a unique educational tool on these threats and it explores the ideological threats of Marxism and Islamism to American liberty, rights, sovereignty, and faith. It delves into the historical, philosophical, and political contexts of these issues, contrasting the Judeo-Christian belief system with Marxist-Islamist ideologies. Later, Zahran Mamdani urges progressives to hold firm to their convictions, advocating for policies like student debt cancellation and Medicare for All, alongside radical goals like BDS and seizing the means of production. Mamdani is a Stalinist who's agenda threatens property rights and liberty. He is masking authoritarian intentions with ‘appealing' promises. In addition, Asra Nomani joins the program to explain that socialist Muslims have strategically infiltrated the Democratic Party over two decades, leveraging identity politics and progressive alliances to gain influence. This agenda aligns with socialist policies and critiques of capitalism, reshaping the party's direction. Also, David Trulio, President and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute calls in to announce Mark's ‘On Power' book signing, lecture and dinner on August 17, 2025 at the Reagan Library. Finally, Steve Scalise to discuss the big, beautiful bill that passed in the Senate. It will prevent a major tax hike, eliminating taxes on tips and overtime for workers like servers, and funding border security with wall construction and advanced tech for Border Patrol. It boosts energy production in ANWR and the Gulf, cuts $1.5 trillion in waste, and promotes economic growth. The House must now pass the bill and send it to Trump's desk. It's hump day and as it so happens technical hiccup day. But don't worry, we got some scotch tape and paperclips and have McGyvered this thing for now. Republicans in Congress are doing what they can to push their massive tax cut through reconciliation, and you'll never get who's gonna benefit from that (it's rich people). To make it happen, Republicans are now trying to sneak in cuts to Medicare. We talk first to Singrid Steinmetz, an ICU nurse and a member of the California Nurses Association, which represents nearly 2,200 at Long Beach Medical Center who will be striking tomorrow. Here's the contact info for LBMC in case you want to tell management there to support it's nurses: https://www.memorialcare.org/locations/long-beach-medical-center After that, we hear from The Guardian U.S. investigative reporter George Joseph about his stunning new piece out today about how United Health Care has secretly paid nursing homes that helped it gain Medicare enrollees and reduced hospitalizations: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/21/unitedhealth-nursing-homes-payments-hospital-transfers In the Fun Half, Emma, Sam and Matt respond to Skelator look-alike Rick Scott trying to make the case for making cuts to Medicaid by arguing that if you want health care in America you should have to work for it. Steve Scalise is singing the same tune. Bernie went on Andrew Schulz's show and managed to get him and his bros to acknowledge the problem of inequality and the absurdity of being the only industrialized country in the world without guaranteed health care. Also, Andrew Cuomo talks to Bari Weiss about what's ailing Democratic-run cities and states (hint, he blames the left) and he seems to be pushing an Abundance™ style agenda. From February 22, 2024: As a new report on the intimidation of state and local officeholders from the Brennan Center for Justice points out, “The January 6 insurrection at the Capitol seemed to mark a new peak in extremist intimidation targeting public officials. But it was hardly the only act of political violence to break the period of relative stability that followed the assassinations of the 1960s.” Citing the 2017 shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise, last year's hammer attack on Paul Pelosi, and many other cases, the report paints a troubling picture of today's climate of political violence in America. To talk through the report and its implications, Lawfare Senior Editor Quinta Jurecic and Lawfare Managing Editor Tyler McBrien sat down with Maya Kornberg, a Research Fellow at the Brennan Center's Elections and Government Program and one of the report's authors. They discussed how Maya and her team surveyed so many state and local officials across a number of jurisdictions, the pervasive risks and threats those officeholders face, and how these threats are distorting U.S. democracy as a whole. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare.
