Finding value on Day 3 of the draft is difficult, but new GM Joe Hortiz was able to find several players who could make an impact in year one. The Chargers addressed big needs in the later rounds finding a run stuffing D lineman while double-dipping at cornerback and triple dipping at wide receiver. Dan and David break down each of the Chargers day 3 draft picks including Justin Eboigbe who has some injury concerns but brings alluring toughness in the trenches. The Chargers went back-to-back in the fifth round at cornerback with Tarheeb Still who brings rare physicality and Cam Hart that has irresistible traits. Los Angeles also added some juice to the RB room with Troy's Kimani Vidal who is a sleeper that could really pay off. The Chargers also struck gold in round 7 grabbing two receivers that should have been taken much sooner Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Real Forno Show with your host, Tyler Forness! In this episode, we are taking an in-depth look at the Day 2 happenings at the highly anticipated 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. The day was filled with some unexpected surprises and standout performances, and we're here to break it all down for you. Our main focus for today's discussion will be the on-field testing of the second day groups, consisting of defensive backs (corner backs and safeties) and tight ends. First up, we'll delve into the performance of this year's DB group. Were they the fastest we've seen in recent memory? We'll analyze their speed and agility, comparing it with the performances of past years. Then, we'll pivot to discuss the unfortunate injuries that have marred testing for some top prospects. How might these injuries impact their draft stock? We'll discuss this and more. Our next topic of conversation will be Cam Hart and Khyree Jackson's exceptional runs. Given their size, their performance was nothing short of impressive. We'll take a closer look at their technique and discuss what this could mean for their future in the NFL. A key question we'll be answering in this episode is - how did Brock Bowers test? Does he have what it takes to be a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft? We'll break down his performance and weigh in on the debate surrounding his draft position. Finally, in a group that many have labeled as weak, were there any other tight ends who managed to stand out? We'll discuss who managed to defy expectations and potentially improve their draft stock. This episode promises to be an informative and engaging discussion of the latest happenings at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. We start Rapid Fire by discussing Notre Dame cornerback Cam Hart's confidence in being a "first-round cornerback". * What's our confidence level that Chicago defensive lineman Justin Scott will commit to Notre Dame? * The academic prowess and commitment of Sam Assaf, who was a walk-on for both the Irish football team as well as the lacrosse team. * We predict Michigan's record for the 2023 season. * NFL owners tabled the Philadelphia Eagles' proposal to create a 4th-and-20 alternative to the onside kick. It wasn't voted down but further discussion is needed. Would you stick with the onside kick or would you favor the 4th and 20 alternative? * Golfer Michael Block's improbable weekend at the PGA Championship. * Some people are calling for a ball/strike challenge system for Major League Baseball where a team would possibly get three challenges and if you get a challenge correct you retain the challenge. Notre Dame's late-season surge came to a halt on Saturday night in LA, with the Irish unable to slow down Heisman front-runner Caleb Williams and USC. The Irish had their chances in the game, but critical mistakes doomed their chances. In the aftermath, we reflected on the realities of the Irish roster and where it stands today. The lack of production at the linebacker position against USC and most of the season Notre Dame's abundance of good players, lack of game wreckers Drew Pyne's near-perfect performance ruined by two brutal mistakes How big the loss of Cam Hart and Tariq Bracy was The continued rise of Deion Colzie Assessing the assistant coaches on the season Lots of portal speculation Coffee preferences and turkey leftover ideas Lots of Q&A from Twitter Note: this was recorded before news broke of Cam Hart's return to Notre Dame for the 2023 season.

Shake Down the Numbers: Notre Dame Football Stats and Analytics
It's game week! Cooper and Eric preview the showdown with the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe. (0:00) 3rd and Gold, our pledge drive partnered with Brady Quinn's 3rd and Goal Foundation, is back! Pledge your preferred amount for Irish players or team milestones, all proceeds from these pledges will be donated to the 3rd and Goal Foundation to help veterans with disabilities and to provide education to veterans. Link below! (2:10) Ohio State's offensive preview. The Buckeyes are an elite unit despite losing two first round WR (Wilson, Olave) and two veteran OL (Petite-Frere, Munford) to the NFL draft. Led by Heisman favorite CJ Stroud, likely Biletnikoff finalist Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Doak Walker watch list member TreVeyon Henderson, the Buckeyes have the talent to lead the P5 in scoring. Marvin Harrison Jr, Julian Fleming and Emeka Egbuka will present matchup problems for the Irish secondary and LB. (9:50) Notre Dame offense discussion. The Irish have a recent history of being boat-raced offensively by elite offenses, most notably future national champions 2018 Clemson and 2020 Alabama. With this OSU team looking to be at the level of those programs, how can Notre Dame maximize their roster talent to overcome the wider talent deficit? The guys also discuss what first-year starter Tyler Buchner brings to the table. (17:15) Notre Dame defense preview. The Irish boast a formidable front 7, with a defensive line that is among the top in the country and an experienced and talented LB corps. The Irish have a number of ballhawk safeties, but the corner room leaves a lot to be desired after Cam Hart. Tariq Bracy has had a fantastic summer, and the Irish need the presumptive Nickel to shine. Clarence Lewis has hit moments, but inconsistency plagued his 2021 season, most notably in the Fiesta Bowl. With the scoring ability of this OSU defense, the Irish will need to generate pressure and likely turnovers if they want to limit the Buckeye scoring machine enough to give the offense a shot to win. (20:55) Game predictions. Cooper and Eric give their score predictions and discuss the outlook for what different outcomes likely mean for the Irish this year. This also leads into a wider discussion of talent disparity in College Football and how Maruc Freeman is moving the envelope in that regard for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame's secondary is a bit interesting this year. The Irish have a pair of standouts in Cam Hart and Brandon Joseph, but a lot of questions after that. How well the players opposite that duo play will go a long way towards determining how good Notre Dame's defense will play in 2022, especially against Ohio State. Learn more about your ad choices. Corner from Notre Dame - Cam Hart
After a long hiatus, the boys are back to podding on Single High. WIth spring practice fully underway and recruiting heating up, there was not a shortage of topics for the lads to discuss. Spring Access - Less video and access seems to be happening while access to playeres and coaches has done a reversal from the BK era Linebackers - Where does everyone fit in, how will reps be split, and will the group look a lot different this year? Kyle Hamilton draft destinations - Please just let it be anywhere by the NY Giants for my own sanity Secondary - Which young corners step up this spring with Cam Hart out and Notre Dame in need of more playmakers Quarterbacks - because is it even a Notre Dame podcast right now if you're not talking about the quarterbacks Notre Dame & NIL - Is Notre Dame doing enough - or anything really - to keep up with the NIL arms race Breakout Players - Greg is on the verge of a bold prediction for an offensive player Under the Radar Players - Look for Mitchell Evans to have a big role this year even though he's not talked about a lot right now Plenty of Q&A

Shake Down the Numbers: Notre Dame Football Stats and Analytics
Shake Down The Numbers is back for the 2021 season, breaking down the Cincinnati loss and where the Irish go from here. Cooper is back and hosting the show, and he is joined by former president of the Notre Dame Sports Analytics club Kevin Murray and former Notre Dame Football Recruiting Analyst Eric Thomas. (2:05) The group discusses the playcalling and offensive structure, notably early down offense and the inefficiency Notre Dame has shown getting ahead of the chains. (10:10) The group goes through the biggest question surrounding Notre Dame Football: The Quarterback position. Coan and Pyne were both inconsistent vs Cincinnati, with the Buchner package failing altogether to generate positive plays. The Irish seem poised to move onto Drew Pyne as the starter, and the guys talk through what that transition may look like. (18:00) Tyler Buchner talk! Buchner is a dynamic player who dominated in a small sample size in high school, missing two of the past three seasons. His ability to impact the offense positively has become limited with him not operating as a passing threat, and the guys talk options for a more impactful freshman season from Buchner. Also discussed is the importance of play action and motion for creating efficient offense. (24:10) The group wraps up, evaluating the Notre Dame defense and how they have progressed since the FSU game. There have been notable improvements for Freeman's squad since the opener, from the dominance of the defensive line unit to the improved play of DB's Cam Hart and DJ Brown. At (27:45) Eric accidently says Cam Hart when referencing Clarence Lewis. (29:23) The guys go over projections for ND's final record and what to watch for as the Irish go through the final seven games.

Notre Dame took care of business again this weekend with a 41-13 beatdown of Wisconsin that wasn't always pretty but got the job done on the road against a top-25 team. The Irish now sit at 4-0 even though many in the media picked Wisconsin to win the game and Vegas had the Badgers as 6.5 favorites. Cam Hart's huge day Is Wisconsin forcing the bit with Graham Mertz just because he was highly rated? Concerns on the offensive side of the ball rear their ugly heads What to make of the quarterback position for Notre Dame The Freeman Factor starting to show as the season progresses Who is to blame for all of the sacks? Brian Kelly's big accomplishment and well earned penalty That and Frank tries a new 10.2% ABV stout all for the sake of the pod.
