Episode 38 of the Fire Safety Matters Podcast includes Mark chatting with James Pecz, head of global business development at Ramtech Electronics, the Nottingham-based developer of wireless electronic solutions. James focuses his attentions on fire safety regulations in the UK, a comparison of standards on home shores versus the rest of the world, the overriding requirement for early detection systems in tandem with emergency evacuation and the steps that can be taken to improve fire safety regimes on construction sites. Once again, Brian and Mark analyse the key stories emerging from the industry at present. On this occasion, there's an assessment of Warringtonfire's new £24 million Birchwood Park testing facility that has been recognised with a Considerate Constructors Bronze Award in partnership with main contractor Tilbury Douglas. Also, there's a focus on AXA Commercial's advice for businesses in the capital to review their fire risk assessments and staff training in the wake of the London Fire Brigade announcing that it will no longer respond to daytime activations of automatic fire alarms in most non-residential buildings from October. Further, Mark and Brian examine the launch of the Institution of Fire Engineers' Early Careers Networking Group and look back on the Fire & Security Matters Awards 2024, which ran at the CBS Arena in Coventry on 12 June, drawing a record number of entries and attendees.

Our roving reporter Myles Cadden speaks with the fans pre match against Norwich City
After our heroics at the CBS Arena on Saturday we try our best to dissect our 4-3 victory against Coventry City in the FA Cup. For all new fans to the game we have Lessons with Siân as she tries to learn something new about football each week. We also look ahead to our league game against Bromley on Tuesday night and our trip to Altrincham for the FA Trophy 4th round game on Friday.
In our first podcast of 2023 we discuss our win against Solihull Moors, Ryan Reynolds following us on Twitter and our upcoming trip to the CBS Arena to face Coventry in FA Cup. We also look at the transfer window and what lies ahead for 2023.
Two successive away draws at quite difficult venues is no mean feat but it has to be looked at in the context of the fact that we've now won only 3 of our last 18 and this us why we are in a perilous position towards the foot of the table. There are many positives to draw from the 1-1 draw at the CBS Arena, not least the fact that Zak Vyner is looking an accomplished Championship defender alongside Rob Atkinson who has responded positively to the "tough love" comments of his manager. Throw in the improving form of Cam Pring and increasing confidence of Max O'Leary and you have evidence of a defence that is at last coming together as a unit. It is elsewhere on the field that City's problems lie and whilst Semenyo looks to be returning to his best with strong running and a tidy finish for his 4th of the season it is Andi Weimann's lack of sharpness in front of goal that is concerning and reflects that perhaps last season's form was a one off. Midfield too appears to be lacking in terms of creativity and maybe Alex Scott should be given a rest as he doesn't look right now the player we know he can be. Ian, Mark & DaveP review the action and what might happen in the transfer window now that it's open. Today's intro music is because I was reminded of 70s group Tavares when Coventry brought on one of their subs who had the same name!!
Jonny Drury and Lewis Cox bring you the latest episode of the Baggies Broadcast sponsored by the Kettle & Toaster Man. After five wins on the bounce Albion hit a bump in the road with defeat at Coventry City on Wednesday night. They also discuss the emerging news of Albion informing majority shareholders of plans to take out a loan from a private equity company to help with running costs - which has caused more financial concern among the Baggies fanbase. They answer your burning questions, reflect on the start under Carlos Corberan and look ahead to a busy festive period.

Episode 23 of the Fire Safety Matters Podcast features Brian and Mark reflecting on 2021, focusing in particular on the many achievements realised by the magazine across the last 12 months (among them the launch of Fire Safety Matters Live in November, four nominations at the PPA Independent Publisher Awards and the publication of the first-ever edition of the Fire Industry Association's annual Guide to the UK Fire Safety Industry). As always, we feature a round-up of the latest industry news. Here, there's discussion around the Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry, the professional indemnity insurance crisis currently impacting fire risk assessors, developments for BAFE's ‘Don't Just Specify, Verify!' campaign and current moves signalled by the Government in terms of smoke alarms for the nation's housing stock. Further, Brian and Mark concentrate their attentions on the content of Fire Safety Matters' December print edition before looking ahead to the magazine's features programme for 2022. The New Year, in fact, witnesses the inaugural running of the Fire and Security Matters Awards (at the CBS Arena on 28 April) and the Fire Safety Matters Golf and Networking Day (which takes place at the Celtic Manor Resort on 14 June).
