New York Jets wide receivers coach Miles Austin has been suspended by the NFL for a minimum of one year for violating the league's gambling policy. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed the suspension, which Austin is appealing. McCarthy added the league would have no further comment until the appeal is resolved. The former NFL wide receiver did not coach in the Jets' 19-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Austin's attorney and agent William P. Deni, Jr. said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press that Austin did not gamble on football. “The NFL suspended Miles Austin for wagering from a legal mobile account on table games and non-NFL professional sports,” Deni said. “Miles did not wager on any NFL game in violation of the gambling policy for NFL personnel. He has been fully cooperative with the NFL's investigation. He is appealing his suspension.” Per the NFL's gambling policy for personnel, wagering on sports — even if not NFL games — is a violation. NFL Network and ESPN first reported Austin's suspension by the league. Austin is in his second season coaching Robert Saleh's staff with the Jets. The two were also on San Francisco's staff together in 2019, when Saleh was the defensive coordinator and Austin an offensive quality control coach. The 38-year-old Austin also served as a pro and college scouting intern for Dallas during the 2017 and ‘18 seasons. Austin caught 361 passes for 5,273 yards and 37 touchdowns during a 10-year NFL playing career. Signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth in 2006, Austin played his first eight seasons in Dallas and made the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2010. He finished his playing career with one-year stints in Cleveland (2014) and Philadelphia (2015) before retiring and pursuing coaching. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

When we are burnt-out, our brain is in survival mode and primarily is run by the primitive part of our brain, which views most interactions as negative. Our primitive brain can be an asshole sometimes. This is the part of our brain that keeps us safe and alive. It is constantly scanning the horizon for danger. You know, lions and tigers and bears and stuff. It doesn't know we live in a world of Whole Foods and WiFi now....so it can get a little confused. It's also the part of our brain that gives us the urge to do things.... Like punch someone in the face when they make a rude comment. Luckily, as humans, we have evolved to have a prefrontal cortex to make our rational decisions...and to tell our primitive brain that punching someone in the face isn't typically a great idea. When our primitive brains offer us the solution of punching someone in the face, we choose not to listen to it. So when it offers that everything is awful and we are not ok, we don't have to listen either. With the chronic daily stress we have as OB/GYN's plus a pandemic, our primitive brain may be in overdrive telling us that we should run back to the cave to escape the lion. This often shows up as anxiety and fear of the unknown and BURNOUT. Of course our primitive brains are worried. Of course they are. We've never been through a pandemic. But it doesn't mean we aren't ok. Right now, in the moment, nothing has gone wrong for most of us. Sometimes it helps to remind our primitive brain that we aren't being chased by a lion. Some of my favorite thoughts to practice when my primitive brain is in overdrive: "Of course you're worried brain, but it's OK. We are safe." "Things ARE hard right now brain, but we will figure it out. " "Thanks, no thanks brain. I've got this." "Everything is figure-out-able." Borrow one of mine or find your own. But tell your primitive brain to chill out. You've got this. ❤️/Coach Miles I'm always here to help on Instagram ( CoachMilesMD ) or on my website Coach-Miles.com !

In this super-sized episode, our brave host enters the lion's den, barely surviving an hours long interview between Co-Champions Chris Erichsen and Christopher Coffey. In Act I, Coffey uses misdirection, interruption, and head-shaking belly laughs to thwart Erichsen's every effort to relay a coherent narrative of his life as an elite runner. Despite Coffey's malicious attempts to derail the conversation, Erichsen manages to convey his early years running in SmallTown, Minnesota, slowly building a team of five guys into a regional powerhouse. In Act II, Erichsen tells about his years working under the tutelage of Coach Miles--not rigorously training perse, but gaining life-affirming skills nonetheless on the SJU trails and track with a snow blower and hedge clippers. In the wee minutes, Erichsen spills the details on his Olympic Trials debut and tells how a runner of his magnitude ended up on a team of such ill repute.
