Clare County Council has submitted a funding application under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) for the delivery of significant new public realm regeneration and enhancement projects in Crusheen and Killaloe-Ballina. The proposed multi-million-euro schemes include the reopening of Crusheen Railway Station and the development of a multi-purpose community enterprise hub and crèche in the village, as well as revitalising the public realm in Killaloe-Ballina town centres and transforming the vacant Killaloe Courthouse into a cultural and musical venue. To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Senior Planner and Killaloe MD Coordinator for Clare County Council, Brian McCarthy. Killaloe Municipal District is "quietly confident" its efforts to secure State funding for two major projects in East Clare will prove successful. It comes as Clare County Council has submitted a funding application for what are being described as "transformational" public realm regeneration and enhancement projects in Crusheen and Killaloe-Ballina. Funds are being sought for the reopening of Crusheen Railway Station as well as the development of a multi-purpose community enterprise hub and creche in the village. Additionally, an application has been submitted for public realm revitalisation in Killaloe-Ballina town centres including the transformation of the vacant Killaloe Courthouse into a cultural and musical venue. The applications have been made under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund which can make up to €1 million available to a local authority for the purpose of feasibility and project development works. As Killaloe-Ballina straddles the Clare-Tipperary border however, the application is a joint effort from both local authorities, meaning up to €2 million can be awarded for this project. Senior Coordinator of Killaloe Municipal District, Brian McCarthy believes they have a strong case. The Department of Rural and Community Development is expected to announce successful RRDF applicants by September of this year. After this point, should the East Clare projects be successful, further funding can be applied for to deliver the works. Killaloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O'Brien says the investment would allow his hometown to become a more "sustainable community".

Market Proof Marketing · Ep 377 - 2025 Builders Show Wrap Up The 2025 International Builders' Show (IBS) was a compelling experience for the entire Do You Convert team! It was a memorable event filled with many highlights, including presentations from our very own Julie Jarnagin, Karla Tuten and Kevin Oakley! In this episode, the team discusses their biggest takeaways from IBS. Topics covered include: AI Aids in Interior DesignStorytelling & Data in MarketingA Call for More Diverse PerspectivesPractical AI & Feedback LoopsOnline Sales and Marketing Collaboration& Much More!Below, team members expand upon their key takeaways:Karla Tuten: A whirlwind of inspiration and education is how I would define this past week. The familiar faces of our builder partners is particularly refreshing. With notebooks full of ideas, my biggest takeaway is that there is a real cost to inaction. But on that same note, to be successful at anything is a process, not a product. Kevin Oakley: Even though the full spring market hasn't appeared yet, the vibe of the show was overwhelmingly positive. Also interesting was that although the overall show attendance was one of the highest in years, the sales and marketing attendance felt lower than in years past (I could be wrong -- but many of the encore sessions were more lightly attended than in prior years). On the other hand, I also spoke to more first-time attendees than perhaps any other year I can remember, and all had good things to say about their experience. Of course, this year had more than enough conversation about AI, but it felt like nuance was back a bit more in most sessions. It wasn't as much "adopt A.I. or die" as "be thoughtful and strategic in your limited adoption for now, and pay attention to the future." Finally, I spoke with a few different stock analysts who cover the housing market, and they were mostly aligned that the second half of this year may end up being stronger than the first half - similar to the pattern of 2023's market. Mike Lyon: It's all about the hall. I'm always able to pick something up from the education sessions but a lot of the learning comes from the direct conversations in the hallways. As long as you are talking to the right people... and there is a high concentration of the right people at the show. Jen Barkan: This was one of my favorite years. I really enjoyed being able to support colleagues, industry friends and builder partners as they shined on stage. Highlights from my time at the show include:Karla's session on brand consistency (commit to the bit!).Julie's session on marketing mistakes (make sure you're looking at the RIGHT data!).Haley Naebig with NoviHome's session on customer experience, and her quote, "Scared money don't make money!" We even had some of our partners spread the good word of online sales and speak on the importance of handoff and collaborating with onsite sales! Speaking of shining, congrats to our online sales specialists who won awards at the Nationals event, too! Jackie Lipinski: Magic and inspiration happens in those small moments of togetherness, and this year at the show it was no exception. The power of storytelling with marketing was the name of the game, and everyone must embody the brand and communicate it authentically. My other favorite thought-provoking moments was from a presentation from Steve Shoemaker with Ideal Homes, where he emphasized testing ideas with small "bullets" before committing to the big "cannonballs," along with Brian McCarthy with Abrazo and RIoT Technology's survivorship based analogy, which reminds us to challenge assumptions and look for the missing data before making decisions. Beth Russell: As the Builders' Show came to a close, I found myself gathered with a group of industry leading women in Sales Central, reflecting on the week and our industry as a whole. Our conversations centered around leadership, support, and the importance of creating space - for ourselves, others, and new ideas. What makes the show so special is that there's room for everyone and their unique perspectives and experiences. By sharing our journeys, we help others grow, learn, and feel empowered to step outside their comfort zones. Some of my favorite moments include:Steve Shoemaker's honest take on mistakes he made, risks he took, and lessons he learned. Chip Bell's endless charisma on stage, passionately discussing the view from the customer. The Marketing Leadership Collective Dinner at my all-time favorite, China Polblano. Brian McCarthy's natural storytelling ability.Craig Neal and Taylor Humphry throwing paper airplanes at us. All. Of. The. Hugs. Julie Jarnagin:What an amazing week with some amazing people! My favorite part of IBS 2025 was spending time with the Do You Convert team and all of our builder partners. Our very own Karla Tuten had an excellent presentation on brand consistency, reminding us just how important it is to reinforce your brand at every single touchpoint. I also heard a fascinating presentation on how AI is being used in the design space on time-consuming tasks and providing designers more time on the creative aspects of their work. Brian McCarthy founded innovative urban farming project Cork Rooftop Farm during the first covid lockdown in March 2020. Situated on a rooftop in Cork city centre, the farm started off as a personal project to grow fruit and vegetables. But Brian started to see the potential for something much bigger and, today, Cork Rooftop Farm is a thriving business and a poster child for how urban farming can play a major role in addressing food security, sustainability, and community healthIn this episode of Food Matters, Brian shares his inspiring journey from a tech career to becoming one of Ireland's leading urban farmers. In conversation with Mick Kelly of GIY, Brian talks about the challenges and successes of transforming a rooftop into a farm, the importance of urban agriculture, and its potential to shape the future of food.
What if your copywriting felt fun, effortless, and true to who you are? That is what's possible for you when you embrace the right copywriting mindset. But let's be honest—it is easy for fear, stress, and perfectionism to creep in during the writing process. Which can be both frustrating and exhausting. That's when we overthink every word, second-guess our instincts, and lose sight of what really matters. In this episode, we're getting to the root of the problem with mindset coach Brian McCarthy. He helps six-figure business owners release the subconscious fears holding them back. Brian's take on the copywriting mindset will change how you approach your writing. Because doing this first accelerates all of the other pieces of the process. It's not just about techniques or templates; it's about connecting with yourself first. Shovels will enter the ground for a highly anticipated regeneration project in East Clare at the beginning of next year. The Killaloe Municipal District has confirmed that construction for the Scariff Town Regeneration Project will begin in January of 2025, with the development of a greenfield site as a car park to be the first aspect of the project to get underway. Following the car park's completion, work will begin on the renovation of the vacant Merriman Tavern as a Community and Enterprise Hub, as well as public realm enhancements in Market Square, with the €11 million project to conclude construction in mid to late 2027. Senior Planner with Clare County Council and Co-ordinator of the Killaloe Municipal District, Brian McCarthy, says the car park should be up-and-running within a year.
66% of US plan to shop on Black Friday while projections indicate that consumers plan to spend an average of $650 per person this year, up 15% from last year. I. Most will be using creative financing to make many of their purchases. Brian McCarthy, principal of Deloitte Consulting says this about the Deloitte report. This year we have a shorter holiday shopping season w/ Thanksgiving coming late. That combined with a deal focused consumer, means we expect holiday shoppers to spend big during Black Friday through Cyber Monday promotions.
Brian highlighted significant concerns about the Chinese economy, emphasising that its investment-led growth model is collapsing, with a real estate crisis leading to multi-trillion-dollar losses and debt deflation risks. He expressed scepticism about the effectiveness of anticipated stimulus measures, noting that while they may provide temporary support, they are unlikely to fundamentally change the economic trajectory. Brian pointed out structural issues such as unsustainable debt levels, reliance on central planning, and weak profit growth, making Chinese equities unattractive. He concluded that without meaningful policy changes or abandoning the currency peg, China faces prolonged economic stagnation, akin to Japan's deflationary period, and recommended caution in investing in Chinese markets.

Over time the number of people producing vegetables in Ireland has grown smaller and smaller. So it is not often you hear of a young person getting into commercial vegetable growing, like Brian McCarthy, who started with just a small roof top garden before moving to a much larger space.
A campaign group that has long advocated for the reopening of the Western Rail Corridor has expressed hope that Crusheen Railway Station will come back into use sooner rather than later. It comes as the findings of an extensive investigation into the potential for the defunct railway stop to be reinstated have been presented to the public. Once a consistent component of the village's soundtrack, the sound of a train stopping in Crusheen hasn't been heard for several decades. Now however, the prospect of commuters being able to avail of rail transport in the North Clare settlement seems closer than ever. Crusheen Railway Station was first built in 1869 and served the area for over 100 years before being closed to passenger traffic in 1976, and to freight traffic in the 1990s. The line subsequently reopened in 2010, as part of the Western Corridor rail project, but the station remained closed. Hopes were reiginited in 2013 when Irish Rail secured planning permission for the station's reopening, with plans drawn up for a new 90-metre platform, but no progress was made. In March of this year, Clare County Council commissioned Repucon Consulting to undertake an independent socio-economic appraisal of the benefits of reopening the station and rail stop. As part of this effort, the local authority has purchased lands to provide a publicly-owned strategic landbank to be used for a platform, passenger bridge and any other necessary infrastructure. Executive Director of Repucon Consulting, Mark O'Connell, says the station would be a "phenomenal service for County Clare". A local resident survey taken as part of the socio-economic analysis yielded 1,244 responses, 1,029 of which were incorporated into the report, as the remaining 115 were from respondents living outside the immediate catchment area. Of those whose responses were factored into the analysis, 92% were "very strongly" in support of the station's reopening and 53% of commuters said they were "very likely" to use the local rail service. The estimated current commuter market audience for the station is between 1,100 and 1,700. Senior Planner with the Killaloe Municipal District, Brian McCarthy says the level of engagement from the general public shows how important having a railway station would be to Crusheen. The report states that reopening the station would cost roughly €4.5 million. With its 15-year employment income impact estimated at €25.5 million, the return on investment would be €5.65 for every €1 spent on bringing it back into use. Colmán Ó Raghallaigh from community-based campaign group West on Track believes in light of the evidence presented, reopening the station is an inevitability.
This week on Organic Matters, we meet Brian McCarthy from Cork Rooftop Farm. With a background in the wholesale flower business, Brian started experimenting with vegetable growing during the pandemic on a small rooftop space and has now taken on a long-term lease on a former 60-acre dairy farm growing vegetables organically just outside Cork city. Now in his first year of organic conversion, he talks about his keen interest in building a business that grows organic vegetables at scale, selling into a range of different markets from direct sales to supplying into supermarkets and supporting local employment. Brian also speaks to presenter Hannah Quinn-Mulligan about the steep learning curve of engaging in organic vegetable production from dealing with soil type and difficult field conditions this season to operating a solar-powered seeder and weeder as well as his plans for the future.
It's claimed the redevelopment of an East Clare courthouse would revitalise the town. It comes as Clare County Council has opened consultation on plans for the renovation of the Old Killaloe Courthouse - with the public invited to visit the courthouse on Wednesday from 2-4pm or on Thursday from 6-8pm to share their views. A feasibility study was conducted as part of the Killaloe-Ballina Town Enhancement and Mobility Strategy which identified the necessity to renovate the building with the aim of increasing visitors to the town. Senior Planner and Killaloe Municipal District Co-ordinator, Brian McCarthy, says there is great potential for what the building can be used for.

Air travel in Australia ground to a halt Thursday after all 1,600 pilots flying for the country's three major airlines resigned in a wage dispute and a government airlift failed to get off the ground. The airlift, the largest ever attempted in Australia during peacetime, was bogged down in red tape and bureaucratic bungling that left tens of thousands of passengers stranded throughout the country. The civilian pilots began a series of rolling strikes last week to back their demands for a 30 percent pay raise in the face of a government-ordered 6 percent ceiling on wage increases. The country's three major domestic carriers suspended the pilots Wednesday and then announced plans for the emergency airlift. On Thursday, the President of the Australian Federation of Air Pilots, Capt. Brian McCarthy, announced all 1,600 commercial pilots employed by the domestic carriers had resigned in protest, setting the stage for what could be a long and crippling work stoppage. The grounding of the domestic fleet caused airport chaos, disrupted internal tourist flights and crippled business. Aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force had been mustered to help international carriers ease the problem, but the RAAF was unable to get off the ground because of what was described as 'bureaucratic red tape.'

Through candid discussions and personal anecdotes, listeners gain valuable insights into effective leadership strategies and sales performance optimization.KEY TAKEAWAYS[00:00:29] Intuition in Decision-Making: Brian discusses the significance of listening to one's gut instincts alongside analyzing data when making critical decisions.[00:02:11] Ego and Decision-Making: The importance of separating ego from decisions, being open to course correction based on new data, and avoiding ego-driven attachment to decisions.[00:03:33] Integrating Data and Intuition: Brian highlights the importance of considering both data-driven insights and gut instincts, along with input from key individuals, to make informed decisions and drive organizational success.HIGHLIGHT QUOTES[00:00:49] "They give me the data and I just, I hear them. Sounds like there's a logical solution, but my gut just is something in my stomach... I just don't feel like I want to make the decision now."[00:02:30] "Get your ego out of the way and just change [the decision]... I've always found it's okay to make a decision based upon the data that you have."[00:03:54] "If you're really listening, you're listening to what the data tells you, you're listening to what your eyes are telling you, what your gut tells you... and then quickly execute."Listen to the full episode with Brian McCarthy through this link:https://revenue-builders.simplecast.com/episodes/what-the-best-sales-leaders-do-with-brian-mccarthyCheck out John McMahon's book here:Amazon Link: https://a.co/d/1K7DDC4Check out Force Management's Ascender platform here: https://my.ascender.co/Ascender/

Welcome back to THE Sports Law Podcast! This is your one-stop-shop for all things sports law. For this episode, the production team Mike Lawson (@Mike_sonof_Law), Justin Mader (@MaderLaw), and Zach Bryson (@ZacharySBryson) take the lead to give you the biggest sports law stories. Jalen Carter returned to the NFL combine after returning to Georgia to answer for the arrest warrant in connection with a deadly car crash that occurred back in January 2023. (3:07) The warrant was out for Carter for reckless driving and racing, a misdemeanor that can carry up to 12 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. It is unsure whether this will have an affect on Carter's draft stock which puts him as high as the number one pick in this years NFL draft. A Texas appeals court reinstated a case against Jerry Jones after it found that the district court abused its discretion in dismissing the case. (12:58) The appeals court found that the plaintiff, J.G., acted in good faith to amend part of her pleadings to fit with a court order. J.G. claims Jones “kissed her on the mouth and forcibly grabbed her without her consent.” The suit also includes the Cowboy organization as she claims that team officials “knew or should have known of Jones's misconduct.” A former NFL Films employee, Victoria Russell, has brought an employee discrimination case against the company. (17:53) She alleges that she was denied a dedicated workspace, pay raises, and advancement opportunities that white, male employees enjoyed. The suit also drops a bombshell allegation that NFL Films keeps a database of clips with timestamps and labels such as “cheerleaders buttocks,” “cheerleaders rear end,” “female fan in bikini top,” “naughty camera work,” “close up of cheerleader's breasts; cleavage shot,” “shot of endowed woman” and “random woman, cleavage shot.” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy has released a statement denying both the discrimination claims and the claims about the video labels. He stated that these video frames are simply labeled as 'sensitive' so that they will be removed from circulation. Judge Caproni of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York released a decision allowing for some of Brian Flores' claims to proceed to court rather than arbitration through the NFL. (24:19) Judge Caproni concluded that Flores' claims against the Denver Broncos, the New York Giants and the Houston Texans do not fall within the NFL's arbitration clause. Judge Caproni also noted that she will retain authority to review the commissioner's decision if he is the arbitrator. This review will undoubtedly look for bias in the NFL's decision. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com. If you're an entrepreneur or freelancer, this episode will be a major shift in mindset for blasting past mental hurdles and getting more done.
There are coaches that fluff you up. There are coaches that leave you feeling deflated… then there's Brian. His approach is all about building the muscle of trusting yourself. And as a client of his, I can tell you first hand his shit works! We all have greatness inside us, is it time to tap into yours? Listen now. Can't-Miss Moments From This Episode:Many of us become entrepreneurs to escape the corporate cage… yet put ourselves back behind the bars with our own biz. Brian kicks off this episode by reminding you WHY you left in the first place, and how to build a business true to YOU Are you ready? Or are you getting ready to get ready? Brian and I have both been there and we see it pop up consistently with our coaching clients. If that's you, we can help you move from dreaming to doing (even if you don't feel “ready”) It ain't bragging if it's true! Brian and I dig into struggles with talking about how awesome you are and owning all your achievements. We'll show you how tooting your own horn is not only essential for attracting business, but also creating the mindset for growth. Why the myth of the “lone wolf” in business is not only crap, but could be holding you back. (hint: you're not a robot, so stop acting like one!) Humans have lives, and life has a way of disrupting the best-laid plans. Brian and I have each broken down in business masterminds and the lesson was life-changing. There's a lot of pressure to be “unique” and “different” in biz… but that doesn't mean you have to invent something the world has never seen before. We share a different spin on “unique” that's a lot simpler (and more doable than pressuring yourself to be a “world changer”)This one is jam-packed full of advice. It's an all new That Real Blind Tech show. Brian and Ed welcome in friend of the podcast David Goldstein to the podcast. David just popped in to NYC to join Brian and Ed at Laugh For Sight at Gotham Comedy Club on October 24th, so we thought we would have David on to help us recap the long awaited return of Laugh For Sight. This year's benefit was absolutely epic and featured Legendary Comedian Robert Klein, Aaron Berg, Ophira Eisenberg, Joe Derosa, Andy Fiori, Boris Khaykin, along with Host and Friend of the podcast Brian Mccarthy. Oh yeah, and our pal Jim Gaffigan popped in to do a set. This year's benefit was also the Inaugural What the F*ck Have the Blind Ever Done For Me Laugh For Sight Lifetime Appreciation Awards. Recipients included Robert Klein, Chris Mazzilli Owner Gotham Comedy Club, Gilbert Gottfried, and Larry Goldberg. The idea of the award is to merge the comedy world with blind tech, and who better to do that then friend of the podcast, Larry Goldberg. After many mentions on this show during a specific segment of the show, Apple is finally redesigning iCloud.com. The beta which you can now visit is surprisingly off to a much improved start. We continue on the positive with a fantastic story about a developer that gets accessibility. The streaming wars are here, and prices are going up everywhere. Will you continue to stream or cut the stream? We discuss which services we are subscribed to, and mass confusion sets in. We then speculate on how the Netflix password crackdown will work as it will kicking in come January. Even though it was announced over a week ago, we briefly discuss the new iPads launched by apple because we are a blind tech show after all. Next we discuss Mac OS Ventura and how it is currently working, or not working with VoiceOver. And finally it is on to our thoughts about iOS 16.1. The iPhone 14 just came out, so it's the perfect time for iPhone 15 rumors. You are not alone if you think you have been seeing just a few ads for gambling in the App Store. And you thought political ads were annoying enough, could you soon be seeing gambling on political race ads? And has Apple finally turned in to Robert deNiro from Goodfellas with their new in app purchase ad policy? We then discuss the JackPocket app, a app to buy lottery tickets, which is surprisingly fully accessible with VoiceOver. With the end of the year creeping up on us, we figured it would be a good time to go around and check out what all of our go to devices and apps were at the end of 2022. You will laugh, you will cry, you will learn, ok, so maybe there will be no crying, but we can guarantee a few laughs along this stroll down memory lane. The clip show starts off with Brian babbling on about what the new show will be, then Ed pops in as Brian quickly realized he is better with Ed then without him. Our first few guests you hear include David Kingsbury author of several books helping the blind with PC production, Karen Kramer an O and M specialist with pandemic living advice, Kisiah Timmons from the Yahoo Fantasy accessibility team, and Jeanine Stanley from Aira and eventually also from That Real Blind Tech show. The next few guests on the show included Dr. Cal Roberts, CEO of the Lighthouse Guild in NYC, our Trailblazers series kicked off with Holly Anderson and Darcy Bernard, and we welcomed in at the end of 2020, our very good friend Brian McCarthy to close out the year, and wrap up the first five months of That Real Blind Tech show. In part two of the Horrific Murder of Katy Hawelka we pick right back up where we left off with Brian McCarthy, a complete and utter waste of space, sitting at the police department wasting everyone's time with made up stories about what happened the night Katy was attacked. Luckily by the end of his interrogation Brian was arrested and confessed. The rest of the episode covers the incredible determination Katy's family had throughout the legal process and a glimpse into exactly why they should not have to suffer through parole hearings for this monster every two years. It was August 1986 when Katherine “Katy” Hawelka started her second year at Clarkson University. She was 19 years old and looking forward to the start of classes and reuniting with her college pals.
