Beethoven has been quoted as saying, “Music is like a dream. One that I cannot hear.” He was right, of course, but there's more to it than that. Music can also be a dream. So many musicians, famous or not, have created songs or symphonies inspired by their dreams. Sometimes they heard the notes in their dreams, sometimes the words, sometimes both. My guest on this episode, Craig Sim Webb wrote the book about this: The Dreams Behind the Music: Learn Creative Dreaming as 100+ Top Artists Reveal their Breakthrough Inspirations. Craig is a musician and dreamer himself and he reveals here:· What Beatles songs came from dreams· The famous riff that Keith Richards dreamed and how it almost didn't make it on record· The music he created from his dreams· How you can hear music in your dreams· How to record your dreams· Do two people ever simultaneously dream the same dream· What you can create through lucid dreaming Music adds so much to our lives. Whether you want to create music from your dreams or just hear the stories of the musicians who've done it, don't miss this tuneful episode of Dream Power Radio. Craig Sim Webb is a dream and consciousness author/researcher, a physicist and inventor, and a professional educator and performing artist. His life path was set in motion 3 decades ago when he nearly drowned on a white-water rafting trip and suddenly began recalling many dreams a day, and having lucid dreams and verifiable visions of the future. Since then, he's graduated from McGill University, participated in pioneering lucid dreaming research at Stanford University and at Montreal's Sacre-Coeur Hospital. He has also designed electronic mind development, biofeedback, and educational tools with worldwide distribution, and helped found and produce Making Contact (an international radio show airing on 150-250 stations for over 25 years). His book The Dreams Behind the Music: Learn Creative Dreaming as 100+ top Artists Reveal their Breakthrough Inspirations details high profile artists from the Beatles to Beyoncé who acted on (nighttime) dreams for significant real-life success. “You need those relationships. You need Joe at the lumberyard to help you because you were either bad at ordering or you forgot to order things. And meanwhile, Joe at the lumberyard needs Hank at the manufacturing site. Relationships are absolutely vital.” Craig Webb, Webb Analytics Like so many other facets of life, construction works best when we invest in our relationships. As materials form a building, from manufacturer to distributor, to dealer, contractor, and homeowner, a good working relationship elevates all parties. Analyst Craig Webb spent most of his working life in journalism, but as a convert to construction, he quickly realized that relationships are fundamental to success. As technology and innovation realize new processes, opportunities, and ideas, a handshake and practical knowledge are eternally relevant. The past few years were a crucible for change, uprooting traditional views on work, availability, services, and production. But, as we hurtle towards the future, grounded, reliable people with expert opinions will always be valuable. Topics discussed in this interview:- Craig's background and transition to construction- His business model explained- Repercussions from the last few years of rapid change- Continuing change in construction- Greater access through technology- Why relationships still matter- Why does construction struggle to find workers?- Applying offsite construction- Rapid-fire questions Visit Craig's site, webb-analytics.com, or reach out on LinkedIn or Twitter. For more Construction Disruption, listen on Apple Podcasts or YouTubeConnect with us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedInThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrpChartable - https://chartable.com/privacy
Those working in and observing the building materials and construction industry have been through a rollercoaster ride. In 2020, plants and job sites shut down completely. Then, upon reopening, a surge in demand for new builds and remodels collided with shortages in many of the products necessary to satisfy it. Prices thus soared in 2022 but look to be on their way down as a potential recession lurks. Few follow the sector closer than Craig Webb, president of Webb Analytics and longtime industry journalist. Craig came on the show to help us make sense of the past three years, his expectations for various construction markets in 2023, and what companies need to be doing now to get ahead of the next economic shift. Craig Webb is registered as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and an acupuncturist in the Province of B.C. He has worked on the Lower Mainland in general and specialized medical practices for nearly three decades. Dr. Webb has a broad range of experience and has treated elite athletes, including triathletes and skiers, and members of the B.C. Lions and Vancouver Canucks franchises. He has worked in hospitals and workplace environments. He can accommodate home visits as well as treatments at his private practice. What has impressed him the most in his observations with recovery, is that given the right environment and process, our bodies can overcome many seemingly challenging obstacles to facilitate impressive improvement from illness, injury, acute, and chronic pain. He's a great communicator and listens to the concerns of his patients, offering assurance and solutions. What greatly aids Craig in his understanding of his patients is that he has himself, experienced a long journey of recovery from a serious car accident and other injuries in his past. Craig currently splits his time working in his private clinic in North Vancouver near Lions Gate Hospital and as the lead acupuncturist at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction for Provincial Health Services. @DR.CRAIGTCM
