TAKEAWAYSCry out to the Lord in your distress and He will be faithful to youSelf-harm shouldn't be a silent struggleSelf-harm is not merely an external problem, it is indicative of a deeper problemSelf-harm may be defined as a sort of unhealthy “self-soothing” behavior
Sometimes the most helpless feeling in the world is watching someone you love suffer, but thankfully, there are many ways we can minister to them in times of need and show the love of Christ. Christine Chappell has a lot of experience in this area. As a survivor of self-harm and other severe emotionally painful issues, she is now a Biblical counselor who encourages those who are suffering to engage with God amid emotional pain. Christine's struggles began during her senior year of high school when she was in a major car accident and her world turned upside down. She talks about the intrinsic importance of having friends and family who are there and sympathize rather than condemn or distance. Just addressing self-harm is not enough - parents must engage their children in loving conversation and create open lines of communication. TAKEAWAYS Cry out to the Lord in your distress and He will be faithful to you Self-harm shouldn't be a silent struggle Self-harm is not merely an external problem, it is indicative of a deeper problem Self-harm may be defined as a sort of unhealthy “self-soothing” behavior
On this day in 1943, 48 Japanese prisoners of war and one New Zealand guard were killed at the POW Camp just outside the Wairarapa town of Featherston.

Welcome back to It Was What It Was, the football history podcast. In last week's episode, we told the story of the rise of the Busby Babes, their brilliance, and their final match before tragedy struck. Donald Trump and his MAGA Nation continue to pursue a strategy of recharacterizing what happened on J-6 2021 as an act of patriotism with isolated acts of violence. With no fanfare or announcement, the Harris campaign signaled that she supports the proposed tax increases that were part of Biden's 2025 budget proposal this week. The ambitious tax increases, if passed, would mark a major change in U.S. tax policy, but Harris, whom Republicans have worked to tie to the more unpopular Biden, has not discussed the tax agenda. Source: washingtonexaminer.com Kamala Harris Goes Full Globalist at DNC, Attacks Trump's Populist Tariffs Vice President Kamala Harris attacked the idea of placing United States tariffs on foreign imports to favor domestic producers during her speech at the Democrat National Convention (DNC). “And all the while, he intends to enact what is in effect a national sales tax — call it a ‘Trump tax' — that would raise prices on middle class families by almost $4,000 a year,” Harris said. Harris's attacks on U.S. tariffs also come with a high risk as leading Democrats in Congress such as Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), as well as labor unions and many Democrat voters, support some of Trump's tariffs that have been left in place by President Joe Biden and want a future president to expand those tariffs. The United Auto Workers (UAW), for instance, is hoping to get U.S. tariffs increased on foreign cars to protect American auto jobs and wages. A recent YouGov poll found that almost 6-in-10 Democrat voters want current U.S. tariffs kept in place or increased altogether. This week's guest is former sportscaster Garry Gupton. At one time he had what most men would consider a dream job - covering local and national sports on a popular TV station. But as he explains to Kurt and Chad, "I didn't have my dream job - my dream job had me." In what seemed like the worst day of his professional career, Garry was asked to leave the company. What do you do when the carpet gets pulled out from underneath you? Garry has learned that what feels like the darkest of days can actually be the beginning of incredible blessing, whether it's personally or professionally. (This is a repeat episode - enjoy!)

A lot of strange things that have happened throughout history, there is no doubt about that. Some of them we know well but others rarely get talked about…..and one of those is the story of the Frank Lloyd Wright's Massacre At The Taliesin House - The Famed Architects Darkest Day.

In early March of 1969, the single worst disaster in the history of American motorsports took place at a small, virtually unknown drag strip in rural Georgia. Yellow River Drag Strip was the scene of horror as a funny car flew off the racing surface and into the unprotected crowd. A dozen people died and scores were injured. In this episode of the Dork-O-Motive podcast, we tell the story in every way possible. The history of the track, the history of the poeple involved, the immediate aftermath of the incident, how it changed motorsports in America, and so much more. This is a bleak day for racing and one that carried with it very, very significant consequences.
