Starship performs their 6th Test Flight a month after their 5th - and it was.....BANANAS! That's right we are breaking down IFT6, with our (almost) LIVE reaction to the launch! We started recording during Starship's Reentry, so you catch our reaction live to that. It was a great day for data! The Starship team's have pulled off the practically impossible and soft landed both the Super Heavy Booster & Starship. We're not quite sure what survived, but that's space development! The world's most powerful rocket took another big step forward - expect more of these launches soon! We also share our thoughts on the Space Economy, Lowering the cost to Access Space, Space Progress, and Heat Tile Protection required for the insanity of atmospheric reentry for spacecraft with human crew. We'd love to hear about your reaction to Starship IFT6 - email us at todayinspacepodcast@gmail.com or DM us on social media! Otter.AI's Summary of the episode: "The Starship IFT6 test flight successfully lifted off at 5 PM Central Time, with all 33 Raptor engines functioning. The booster performed a boost-back burn and landed offshore due to a tower issue. The starship, carrying a zero-G banana and a Starlink Pez dispenser, re-entered at 26,700 km/h, testing aggressive angles of attack. Despite some flap charring, the landing was soft. The flight marked SpaceX's second successful full lift-off and booster recovery. The test underscored the importance of rapid iteration and data gathering for future human spaceflight missions, including the Artemis III moon landing and potential Mars missions by 2026." "I know you are in there. I wonder if you can hear my voice or feel my presence, my touch. You might not even look like a human being yet. I once saw pictures in a biology book and I know that a human fetus looks pretty much the same as a piglet for a long time. But those look cute when they come out. Nothing like a baby, with its big head, all blue and squishy, covered in yellowish paste. I have seen it before, a long time ago, and the images have never left me. You will most likely be even more ugly. Being evil leaves its marks..."In this episode, Erin O'Loughlin, Sharon Mertins and special guest Rebecca Rukeyser talk about dystopias, dark stories, and why we love grim narratives so much!REBECCA RUKEYSER is the recipient of a 2018 Grant for Non-German Literature, awarded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe. She holds an MFA (Fiction) from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and has taught creative writing at the University of Iowa and Heinrich-Heine-Universität, Düsseldorf. She's a member of the guest faculty at Bard College Berlin, where she teaches fiction writing. Welcome everyone! A little shopkeeping before we start. What are you doing at the end of October this year?I highly recommend that you attend the International Horseshoeing Competition and the British and Blacksmith's Associations Focus Convention at Stonleigh Park. As I am sure you've heard me brag about before I attended this event last year and had a fantastic time. What more could a farrier want in an event? You have the world's best competing as teams. You have the convention full of world-class speakers and every vendor represented that you could think of, as well as live shoeing demos by some of the best in the world. I realize that October seems quite a ways off right now, but plan ahead. Get yourself a ticket and hopefully, I'll see you over there. For more information, go to www.forgeandfarrier.co.uk I'm also excited to announce the release of Chris Gregory's second installment in his series of memoirs titled For the Want of a Shoe, the Horse was Lost. This book covers his time growing up as a child on his family's ranch in New Mexico and his time voluntarily spent at military school. That's right. He wasn't sent there. He asked to go. Anyway, as with his previous book, this one is full of anecdotal stories and humorous misadventures that all accumulate into the legendary man that we all know today. The book is available on Amazon or through the school's website. As well, if you'd like to hear some more from Chris. He started his own podcast and the first two episodes are out now. Have a listen. It's called Final Approach with Chris Gregory, and it's available where all fine podcasts can be found. There have been a lot of listeners who kind of poke fun at the way that I talk. My Canadian accent is apparently more prevalent than I think but today's guest is going to top that. His Canadianness is next level, and I imagine that he'd be pretty proud to hear that. I met Brad down in Puerto Vallarta with the rest of Vern Powell's crew, and we got to know each other quite well during that trip. As a podcast first, this interview was recorded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean while we were on a deep sea fishing excursion. Brad is humorous, humble, and handy, all attributes of many of the greats of our trade. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Welcome to my first episode of Final Approach with Chris Gregory. My first guest has become one of the most famous farriers in the business. From his contagious passion for our great trade and his distinctive, dare I say, sexy voice, Brian Mullins CJF, ASF is a longtime friend, a Heartlander, a fantastic farrier, a podcasting superstar, and one of the most amazing men I know. Since he is my inspiration for stepping out into this podcasting arena, it is my honor to welcome him as my first guest. We are cleared for takeoff. Welcome to Final Approach with Chris Gregory. I am a philomath, who is somebody who loves to learn things. One of the things that I've learned is that everyone has a tale to tell and a lesson to teach. From pilots to farriers, musicians to authors and creators. I'm going to explore my interests while introducing you to some amazing people. Pre-flight is complete and we have clearance, so let's kick the tires and start the fires.
It's alway humbling when we reach out to people within the waterfowl world and ask to join us on the show. Mario Friendy from Final Approach takes time from his busy schedule, he left for Alberta the next day, to record an episode, and the best thing about this is that Damien didn't have too much talking to do. As always, sit back and enjoy another episode of The Union 0430. Looking for new products? Visit Canadian Waterfowl Supplies: https://www.canadianwaterfowlsupplies... Looking for some Punisher Swag?
