Phil and Josh return for a jam packed E186 of the GSP to discuss the IndyCar Series finale at Laguna Seca, which saw Scott Dixon close his 2023 season with his first win at the track while Alex Palou officially received his second series title in three years. The guys talk about the carnage filled race, restart issues, the pace car running out of gas and Silly Season updates leading to the longest off-season in motorsports. NASCAR continues their 2023 playoff with a triple-header at Kansas Speedway, where Tyler Reddick continued the 23XI domination of the track with his second win of the season along with advancing to the Round of 12. Phil and Josh go over the atrocious restart Reddick's team co-owner Denny Hamlin had along with other key players in the race leading into the cutoff at Bristol. The XFinity Series finished their regular season at Kansas with the status quo of John Hunter Nemechek winning for the sixth time in 2023 while Austin Hill won the regular season title. Parker Kligerman overtook Riley Herbst to get the last playoff spot while Bruckshot Jones tried to save his season but fell one spot short. Christian Eckes used a last lap three-wide pass on Corey Heim and Zane Smith to advance into the Round of 8, while Nick Sanchez and Carson Hocevar took the stage wins. DiBenedetto and Matt Crafton saw their 2023 championship chances end, even with Matty D finishing third in the race. Phil and Josh get into all things NFL with a Week 1 recap for their teams along with a fantasy team review before the GSP Roundup. Phil reviews MotoGP/Moto2, WEC, Indy NXT, WSBK (where Garrett Gerloff had a breakthrough round), WRC, SuperMotocross, NHRA, Extreme E, IMSA and Supercars. The crew comes back together to preview the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix and who will finish behind Fish Lips, before looking at the triple-header at Bristol and who will advance to the Round of 12 in Cup, start the XFinity playoff on a high and who will start the Round of 8 in Trucks with a win. Josh lets us know all things going on in the world of gaming in his Sim Segment prior to Show Close.

If you're a fan of motorcycle road racing then it's likely you've heard of the 27 year old Texan by the name of Garrett Gerloff but it's also likely you don't really know him. The two time MotoAmerica Supersport Champion and multi-race Superbike winner left the USA at the end of 2019 with a goal to make it to the top of the sport. Garrett recently made a switch from Yamaha to BMW for the 2023 season which begins a new chapter for him after facing some very high & low points over the course of his first two seasons - ranging from WSBK podiums to MotoGP wildcards, and even his share of international drama. We talk through his career thus far, some of the pivotal moments, and especially where he is at now in life on and away from the race track. We hope you enjoy getting to know Garrett as much as we did. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pipe-dreams/support
New year, new beginning: Off Track With Carruthers And Bice is back after a short break and they are joined in the first episode of 2023 by everyone's favorite World Superbike racer, Garrett Gerloff. Gerloff is fresh off a very wet preseason test at Jerez in Spain as he begins a new phase of his career with a switch from the GRT Yamaha squad to the Bonovo BMW team for the coming season. Gerloff fills us in on a bit of everything, from that first test on the BMW, to working hard in the gym, to life as a World Superbike racer, and everything in between.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/garrettgerloff/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/garrettgerloffYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@GarrettGerloff31/featuredSupport the show
Former MotoAmerica Superbike rider and multi-time race winner Garrett Gerloff is now in his third year of racing in the FIM Superbike World Championship and with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. After an impressive 2020 rookie season, 2021 was a sophomore struggle for Gerloff. The Texan has also had more than his fair share of adversity in 2022, but he loves his team, and he maintains a hopeful outlook on his future in the World Championship, while constantly training, working on his nutrition, and keeping his body and mind sharp. As Paul and Sean present their 200th episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice, Gerloff, who has the distinction of being their most popular guest to date, joins the celebration. Burning questions are asked, some are answered, and a lot of laughs are had by all. Garrett Gerloff is back in Texas after a difficult season in the 2021 World Superbike Championship, a season he'd probably like to do-over. Although he finished seventh in the World Championship in his sophomore season in the series, Gerloff's year was marred by the incidents he was involved in along the way, namely the crash at Assen where he cleaned out Yamaha's Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the championship leader at the time and the man who would ultimately go on to win the World Superbike title. We caught up with Gerloff for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice and he spoke openly about his 2021 woes and the good memories as well while he champs at the bit to get started with a clean slate in 2022.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/garrettgerloff/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005367167364Support the show (http://motoamerica.com)

Not many can say they are "living their best life" in 2020, but Garrett Gerloff most certainly is. The Texan ended up 11th in his debut season of World Superbike racing, scoring three podiums near the end of the season - including a second-place finish in Portugal. If that wasn't enough, Gerloff got the call to go ride Valentino Rossi's Yamaha M1 for a day at the Valencia circuit in Spain when Rossi tested positive for COVID-19. And he made the best of that with an impressive outing in the rain in the first session and an even more impressive outing on a drying track in the afternoon session. Although he didn't get to race, everybody in the MotoGP paddock now knows who Garrett Gerloff is and that could pay dividends in the years to come. We interrupted Gerloff's cycling for some insight into his season on this episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Twitter: https://twitter.com/garrettgerloffInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/garrettgerloff/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005367167364Support the show (http://motoamerica.com)

Phil and Josh return for another episode of the GSP talking about the atrocious Kansas Cup race which saw Joey Logano win over Kevin Harvick and lock himself into the final four. The "BAS" was emphasized along with other keys for why a faster car couldn't pass for 42 laps. Chase Briscoe wins his 9th XFinity race of 2020 and also gets announced as the driver of the 14 Cup car, bringing relief to one of of the hosts. Brett Moffitt battles teammate Zane Smith late to get his first Truck Series win of 2020 and lock himself into Phoenix. In the GSP Roundup, Phil talks about SVG and Tander taking down the Bathurst 1000 in Holden's last official run on the mountain. NHRA at Dallas sees points tighten in some of the pro categories while Petit Le Mans had argy bargy at the end. Garrett Gerloff shines (for the most part) at Estoril in WSBK while Joe Roberts scores points at Aragon. Phil and Josh preview the IndyCar championship decider at St. Petersburg and whether Scott Dixon or Josef Newgarden will add to their championship tallies. Keys for both are discussed along with other people who could stand in the way. Formula 1 goes to Portugal for the first time since Jacques Villeneuve won in 1996 at Estoril with Lewis Hamilton trying to get win 92 and stand alone at the winningest F1 driver ever. NASCAR races at Texas and its not going to be good...but we made picks anyway.
Greg Haines and Julian Ryder digest a sensational weekend of World Superbikes at Magny-Cours. There’s Rea milestones, Redding’s recovery and BMW fury at Garrett Gerloff, complete with interviews… but do they all mean what they say? BSB doesn’t go unnoticed, either, as five competitors stand a chance of the title on finals day! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Phil and Josh come back for another episode of the GSP to discuss His Airness coming to NASCAR as a team owner with Denny Hamlin and hiring Darrell "Bubba" Wallace as his driver. What should we expect from this team and what does this mean for Hamlin and Wallace long-term? Ross Chastain gets the 42 ride for 2021 and is it the start of a transition within CGR's NASCAR program? Can Ross's style (similar to Ernie Irvan in his early days) sustain in Cup? Finally Texas Motor Speedway loses a points race to Circuit of the Americas but somehow gets the All-Star Race. Phil loses it on TMS and Josh provides perspective on what to expect for that particular race. Kevin Harvick defeats Kyle Busch for his 9th win of 2020 at the Bristol Night Race and continues a season that brings comparisons to Jeff Gordon's 1998 campaign. Phil and Josh discuss the post-race comments by Busch as well as who advanced/got eliminated after round one. Chase Briscoe gets his 7th win of 2020 in XFinity and ties Austin Cindric in points as they start their playoff battle at LV. Sam Mayer gets an "upset" win at Bristol for his first Truck win and promptly jumps in an ARCA car and wins after that. Phil and Josh go over the good, bad and ugly on the Truck playoff opener. Supercars at The Bend Pt.2, Moto GP/Moto 2/Moto 3 at Catalunya and IMSA at Mid-Ohio with some notable absences due to COVID-19.

This episode is a great chat with MotoAmerica racer Kaleb De Keyrel who joins me to discuss his recent back to back wins in Twins Cup races 1 and 2 at the opening round of the MotoAmerica season that was held two weekends ago at Road America in Wisconsin. We talk about the race weekend and the activities leading up to his victories as well as how he got himself and his Yamaha FZ07 ready for racing this year, including with some help and coaching from this year’s World SBK rookie, and previous MotoAmerica racer, Garrett Gerloff. We also talk about the unusual circumstances of being at motorcycle races held under the restrictions required because of the current COVID-19 pandemic. And we talk about Kaleb’s prior racing experiences, his recovery from a serious crash at an AFM race event at Thunderhill Raceway Park in 2019, and also the YouTube channel and videos that he and his girlfriend produce together to help promote motorcycle road racing and MotoAmerica. We're back and not much has changed since we last recorded. The 2019 MotoGP championship is sealed with Marquez finishing in front of Dovisiozo. Fabio Quatararo almost won that race just like Kev almost didn't mini-rant this episode. But the real meat and potatoes of this podcast is two points:1.
