2018 Truck Series champion and Iowa native Brett Moffitt joins Davey Segal this week (5:45) ahead of his return to the Xfinity Series and return to Joe Gibbs Racing at his home track of Iowa Speedway. Moffitt explains the excitement surrounding the opportunity to race in competitive equipment at his home track, what it'll be like having friends and family in attendance, how the partial repave will level out the playing field on a track he's won at multiple times and what it's been like getting re-acclimated to JGR after more than a decade away. Moffitt also dives into getting to know his crew chief for the weekend, Seth Chavka, his partial NCTS schedule with TRICON Garage and why his lack of rhythm has been hindering him during races thus far. He also reminisces on his 2018 championship with Hattori Racing Enterprises and Scott Zipadelli (and Davey shares a funny (and intimate?) story from that night), his time in the Cup Series and why it was a struggle, whether or not he'd like to get back there one day, working as a simulation driver for Hendrick Motorsports, how his time with AM Racing came to an end at the end of 2023 and more, including what it's like now being a father of two, his realistic expectations for Iowa this weekend and some must-dos for those visiting Newton for the first time. Papa Segal also pays homage to the late Parnelli Jones while Davey recaps Kyle Larson's Sonoma victory and looks ahead to the Cup Series' first trip to the land of corn.

Phil and Josh return for another episode of the GSP to cover the carnage that is Talladega with Young Ryan Blaney earning a third photo finish victory over Kevin Harvick (prior to his DQ).  The guys get into the race which saw plenty of Ford's lead with Joey Logano leading the most laps and Blaney and Keselowski winning the stages.  The fans saw 70 lead changes among 24 drivers plus the usual wrecking with Keselowski causing the big one.  Brad and Ross are among the drivers stressed going into the Roval at Charlotte with the points cutoff.  For the Trucks, Brett Moffitt in a one-off won for Front Row Motorsports but the defending series champion Zane Smith will be in a must-win situation heading to Homestead. Nick Sanchez and Parker Kligerman won the stages but Sanchez ended up in the news after a big wreck with Matt Crafton, after the three-time series champion sucker punched the rookie post race.  The crew goes over the points heading to Homestead and the story of KBM being sold to Spire Motorsports.   In the NFL, Phil and Josh have mixed fortunes with their actual teams while the fantasy football side is providing varying results.  The guys discuss their favorites and the players that are good/bad for them in real and fantasy sports.  The GSP Roundup looks at MotoGP/Moto2, WSBK, NHRA, Supercars at the Bathurst 1000 and Andretti Global being approved as the 11th team for Formula 1.  Speaking of F1, Phil and Josh preview who will finish behind Fish Lips at the Qatar Grand Prix after he gets a second title, along with previews and picks for the Charlotte Roval and who advances before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.

They discuss what sets Heim apart from the countless other drivers Zipadelli has worked with in the past, the adjustment of working with a significantly younger driver, the pressure that comes with performing at such a high level every single week and if he likes entering the postseason as one of the favorites for the championship. Our spotting trio of T.J. Majors, Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft returns from the Daytona International Speedway road course to breakdown the wild weekend of road racing. The second race weekend of the year produced not one but two first-time winners. Saturday’s Xfinity Series victor Ty Gibbs joins the show after winning in his first start. He describes the intense run to the finish, what he did to hold onto the lead, and the meaning behind his emotional celebration. Plus, the 18-year-old addresses the reputation he’s building. Christopher Bell chased down Joey Logano in the closing laps, evaded the No. 22’s block attempts and drove to Victory Lane for the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career. Majors discusses another win slipping away late for the No. 22 team. A.J Allmendinger impressed in his part-time Cup effort for Kaulig Racing on Sunday. His spotter Brett Griffin talks about their day and what proved insurmountable to overcome in the race. Plus, Griffin responds to what Clint Bowyer said about him on the broadcast. The controversial late race caution for rain is addressed, including Kyle Busch’s comments about why the yellow flag was displayed. Hear whether the guys thought a caution was necessary and how it changed the race. Chaos then ensued on the following restarts. They react to Chase Elliott’s epic saves and his tangle with Corey LaJoie, plus all the drama that the finish produced. Saturday’s Xfinity Series race did not disappoint and the gang covers Allmendinger and Austin Cindric wrecking while battling for the Stage 1 victory. Truck Series drama is brewing between former champion Brett Moffitt and his former team GMS Racing. Hear what went down in the race and whether Moffitt should be picking this fight. In Reaction Theatre, everyone sucks and Brett gets cussed out – what’s new? A new segment debuts that has everyone pointing fingers.   Well. It was an interesting day from Iowa Speedway today as Ross Chastain went to victory lane in the Gander Outdoor Truck Series event only to become the first driver ever to be disqualified under NASCAR’s new system. What does it mean for Chastain? Brett Moffitt was credited with the win.  Also, controversy arose when Austin Hill and Johnny Sauter got together on track. Hill hit Sauter, sending Sauter into the outside wall, virtually ending his day. Sauter then retaliated and went after Hill on track, slamming his truck into Hill’s. Hill continued but Sauter was parked for his actions by NASCAR. Questions remain as to whether or not Sauter will be suspended for his actions. We’ll give our thoughts on the deal.  Plus, a nice win by Christopher Bell on Sunday night gave him another XFINITY Series win. It wasn't his most dominant win of his career but it got the job done. Kyle Busch took the checkered flag in Sunday's Can-Am 500 at ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday. It's Busch's 51st career victory and his 8th of the 2018 season. He held off a hard charging Brad Keselowski for victory.  It was a race that featured a lot of attrition including a major wreck late in the event involving playoff drivers Kurt Busch & Chase Elliott. The accident almost sealed the deal for Kevin Harvick, who had one of the fastest cars early in the going until spinning after a flat tire. After the incident, Harvick salvaged a decent day out of it but the car had lost its speed. He finished 7th but did advance into the championship four along with Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr.  Christopher Bell took the victory in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series race at ISM Raceway. Bell needed to win after back to back tough breaks at Kansas and Texas. He proved that he is the man to beat this year with a stellar drive through the field to win his 7th race this season. Bell held off Daniel Hemric for victory. Hemric and Bell advanced to the championship four along with Tyler Reddick and Cole Custer. We'll talk about who we think will be the 2018 NASCAR XFINITY Series champion.  We'll do the same with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
