In our final installment of the "Everything Is Possible" series, we investigate something that is often overlooked when we look at the impossible becoming possible...our character. Today we look at how God's grace is more than sufficient for us, but that often our lack of integrity and character can cause distance between us and God.
In part 2 of our "Everything Is Possible" series, Josh Phillips unpacks the idea that oftentimes our faith plays a role in our prayers being answered by God.
Jesus told us that "with God all things are possible". So why is it that it seems we don't see more impossible things happening to a greater degree in our time? In today's message, Pastor Chad takes us through Mark chapter 9 where we find that part of the answer may be in the way that we approach prayer.
From the responsorial psalm: "The LORD is king, in splendor robed; robed is the LORD and girt about with strength. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.”A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark (9:14-29, today's readings)Jesus said to him, “‘If you can!' Everything is possible to one who has faith.” Then the boy's father cried out, “I do believe, help my unbelief!”Taking place immediately after the Transfiguration as Jesus comes down from the mountain with Peter, James, John and meets the other disciples, today's Gospel describes Jesus' encounter with a man whose son is possessed. In an argument with some scribes after attempting to drive out the demon, the disciples face the lack of faith of the father and the scribes. That is why Jesus says to them, "O faithless generation, how long will I be with you?" Jesus then asks them to bring the boy to him, whose spirit throws him to the ground in convulsions. The father asks for Jesus compassion and help, saying "if you can do anything." Jesus redirects the father's attention to everything that is possible through faith in God. In response, his profession of faith is a prayer for all who have faith in the Lord: "I do believe, help my unbelief." God, help me trust that you can do the impossible, especially in circumstances that appear to have no solution. Just as the father asks for help on behalf of the son, let me come to you with firm conviction in faith that you alone can restore us to your image. Daily life seems to produce abundant barriers to the realization of hope sought through continual prayer. Yet, through Jesus Christ your Son, you transfigure human dignity in a way that accomplishes your plan for salvation while respecting free will. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts," you say through Isaiah, "neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD." Lord, strengthen my faith!Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Whether you lead many or just yourself we all need to realize most things are impossible on our own, however, with God all things are possible! We must understand our finite self has very little power but with the infinite God in our lives we can do anything! God can do more in a moment than we as humans can do in a lifetime! Listen and share this with everyone you know!
In today's message, we look at the amazing story of God answering Joshua's prayer to hold the sun and the moon still so that the Israelite armies could overtake the Amorites in battle. Why is it that God answered this bold prayer from Joshua? We look at this in today's episode.

Fighting propagandistic lies with more lies rarely works and runs the risk of eroding trust in your credibility and undermining your cause. However, there is a role for so-called Black disinformation in wartime. This deliberate dissemination of false or misleading information can be highly effective as part of a military operation. Information campaigns with the intent to deceive, manipulate, or undermine an adversary during warfare or conflicts is a tactic used to gain strategic advantages by sowing confusion and destabilizing the enemy. Classic examples of this weaponised subterfuge played an important role in Britain's victory in WWII and can help to save many lives and shorten conflicts. ---------- Peter Pomerantsev is a Soviet-born British journalist, author, and TV producer. He has written two books about Russian disinformation and propaganda: Nothing Is True, and Everything Is Possible (2014) and This Is Not Propaganda (2019). Peter was born into a Russian speaking Jewish family in Kyiv, in 1977. In 1978, he moved with his parents to West Germany, after his father, broadcaster, and poet Igor Pomerantsev, was arrested by the KGB for proliferating anti-Soviet literature. They later moved to Munich and then London where Igor Pomerantsev worked for the BBC World Service. ---------- BOOKS: Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: Adventures in Modern Russia (2014) This Is Not Propaganda: Adventures in the War Against Reality (2019) Ukraine in Histories and Stories: Essays by Ukrainian Intellectuals (Ukrainian Voices) by Volodymyr Yermolenko with Foreword by Peter Pomerantsev (2020) Black Earth City: A Year in the Heart of Russia (Charlotte Hobson and Peter Pomerantsev 2017) How to Win an Information War: The Propagandist Who Outwitted Hitler (2024) ---------- ARTICLES: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/mar/02/the-man-who-tricked-nazi-germany-lessons-from-the-past-on-how-to-beat-disinformation ---------- SUPPORT THE CHANNEL: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain https://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain ---------- TRUSTED CHARITIES ON THE GROUND: Save Ukraine https://www.saveukraineua.org/ Superhumans - Hospital for war traumas https://superhumans.com/en/ UNBROKEN - Treatment. One of the great benefits we have with emunah is that no matter what it may seem, we know there's always a possibility of us getting what we need because we have Hashem and He is unlimited. Without emunah, if someone sees a big obstacle in the way of what He wants and it seems almost impossible to overcome, he'll most likely just give up. But with emunah, the person will try to think of ways in which he can access Heavenly mercy, whether it's tefila or Tehillim or any other good deeds. I read a few stories in a hashgacha peratit journal from people whose salvations seemed very unrealistic, but after their tefilot , they became very realistic. I'll share a couple of them. The first was about two friends who we'll call Yosef and Binyamin. They both owned apartments in Beitar, but their Rebbe lived in Yerushalayim and they preferred to live next to him. So they both rented out their apartments in Beitar and used the rent money to rent apartments for themselves in Yerushalayim . As their families grew, their rental apartments became too small and they knew they had to move. They wanted to buy suitable apartments in Yerushalayim , but the prices were way too high for them. Yosef told Binyamin, “Anything is possible, let's pray for each other to find affordable apartments that will fit our needs.” Besides for praying, they chose perek 77 in Tehillim to say every day because it speaks about living in Israel. They prayed every day with a lot of kavanah over a period of six months. Yosef was not able to find anything that worked, but then suddenly an idea hit him. The apartment he was renting was owned by the neighbor who lived right next door. If he would be able to combine both apartments, they would definitely fit his family. He spoke to the owner about it, who was actually willing to sell. The price, however, was way too high for him. The owner wanted 2.6 million shekel. Yosef told him he could sell his apartment in Beitar and add some more funds from his own money, but it would not come close to that number. The owner then said he does not live a life of Torah and mitzvot and neither do his children. He was worried about not having merits for the World to Come. He said, “I know you're very religious and you'll use these apartments to do an abundance of mitzvot. This could be my zechut . I will sell you both for 1.4.” With that, they closed the deal. Yosef told Binyamin about his amazing yeshua and that gave Binyamin chizuk to keep trying himself. A short time after that, he went to look at an apartment and saw a large picture of a great tzaddik hanging on one of the walls. It was his wife's grandfather. While he and his wife were admiring the picture, the elderly woman who owned the apartment asked them if they knew him. They replied yes, they were his grandchildren. The woman then said she was very connected to that tzaddik . When her husband passed away twenty years before, he was the one who advised her to move to Israel. Now, she had to move back to America. She said it would be such a zechut for her if his grandchildren would purchase the apartment. She mentioned it was worth more than 2.5 million shekel, but she would accept less from them. They said they could afford 1.6 and right away she said okay. With tefila and Tehillim , these men were able to fulfill their dream of owning apartments in Yerushalayim , even though it seemed very unrealistic. One other story about an apartment in Israel. A man told that in the building in which he lived, there was a very nice apartment that was vacant. For years, it had been rented out, but after the last tenant moved on, it remained empty. Many people wanted to buy it, but the owner wouldn't hear of it. He would always tell them, “This apartment is for rent, not for sale.” People offered high sums, but it was always rejected. Among those who wanted the apartment was a precious avrech who was looking for an apartment in that area. This one was perfect for him and his family in so many ways. But of course, the owner told them the same thing, “It's not for sale.” He decided he was going to talk to the Real Owner about it. He said the entire Tehillim and then prayed from the depths of his heart for Hashem to enable him to buy it. The next time he called the owner, he explained to him why it would make more sense for him to sell than to rent, especially since he was no longer a young man. For the first time, he said he would ask his lawyer. The lawyer agreed and he told the avrech he would sell it to him. Amazingly, his offer was accepted for much less than others had offered previously. When people found out the apartment was being sold, they immediately called the owner and offered more money, but he refused, saying he already gave someone else his word. With Hashem involved, everything is possible.
Do you believe that anything is possible, or are you stuck in your stories of lack and limitation? In today's episode of Choice, Change and Action, Simone Milasas talks about dropping your story, losing your limitations, and embracing possibilities through inviting the acoustical wavelength into your being and your body so that you can explore what else is possible here on planet earth! When you function from an acoustical wavelength there is no judgement. There is just choice. You don't have this positive or negative. You don't have the limitation. You are not looking for a result. You are not concluding what is going on. You have this space; the space of possibility. You have the greatness of you. And, when you are being that greatness of you, you change the world. If you are an acoustical wavelength in your being and your body, you have the ability to choose anything at any time; and, not judge when you are choosing to change it. The world really is your oyster; anything and everything is possible. Keys to success Embrace Where You Live What If You Looked From A Different Perspective? This is a special mini episode, driven by the immediacy of the horrors happening right now in the Gaza Strip.Mia Khalifa, controversial public figure and Lebanese ex-porn star, was publicly reprimanded and fired last week by Playboy for her "disgusting actions"—a.k.a. voicing solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation against settler colonial apartheid and genocide. Obvious contradictions arise here that can be extrapolated to better understand the entire structure of how easily signs are twisted and power is inverted to justify the horrors of imperialist and colonial power, as well as how our marginalized identities are used against us in an attempt to turn us against the most marginalized for the lie of our own meager benefit. It's no mistake that “terrorism” is only used to describe violence committed by politically disenfranchised actors in the absence of state sanctioned power. State power commits much more violence, but naturalizes and invisibilizes it as necessary and normal. Only resistance to the state is terrorism, which is why terrorism is such a powerful idea in order to confound where power actually lies—it seems as if it is suddenly the disenfranchised who inflict the greatest horrors, the oppressed made oppressor and the oppressor made oppressed. If you don't believe in violence, instead of condemning the disenfranchised you should be steadfastly in solidarity with oppressed peoples in their struggle for liberation from the tyranny of state power, which constructs, commits, and excuses the vast majority of violence. If saying you don't believe in violence leads you to be on the side of colonial and imperialist power, all you really believe in is the comfort, stability, and privilege of the status quo.Free Palestine Get access to full bonus episodes, an exclusive RSS feed, and more by subscribing our Patreon! Gentlemen, we are privileged to have not one but TWO incredible human beings with us today. My guests are an inspirational father-son duo, Travis Macy, and his father, Mark "Mace" Macy. For those that don't know, Travis and Mark are legendary endurance athletes. Travis has finished more than 130 ultra-endurance events in 17 countries. And his Dad, Mace, spent thirty years competing in Colorado and around the world in ultra-endurance competitions and is one of the few who have finished all eight Eco-Challenge events. Their secret? The Ultra Mindset - a relentless determination that refuses to bow to any obstacle. When Mark was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Travis and his Dad decided to take on the challenge of Eco-Challenge Fiji together - a grueling seven-day, 400-mile marathon of trekking, climbing, biking, and paddling through the jungle - for one final race together, to prove that anything is possible with family by your side. In their new book, A Mile at a Time, Travis and Mace weave together excerpts from Mace's passionate personal journals alongside a first-person narrative by Travis, telling the story of their incredible journey and what they learned along the way. Their story is one of courage, determination, and above all, love. It's a reminder that in the face of adversity, the ties that bind us give us strength and much more. In our conversation, you'll learn: Strategies for fostering resilience and mental fortitude. How to cultivate a sense of unity and teamwork within your family. How the “Ultra Mindset” can help as you juggle between training, family, and mental health. Some of my favorite moments of the conversation: The deep bond between Travis and Mark and their shared love for endurance racing. Choosing love, happiness, and hope. How to fight for your family's future and enjoy quality time in the present. The benefits of exercise and being in nature has on your mental health. Embracing adversity as a catalyst to greater resilience and self-assuredness. Mace's mantra, “It's all good training.” Insights for those dealing with Alzheimer's. The comfort of having someone besides you who'll always have your back. I was honored to be interviewed by Angie Peacock (of Medicating Normal documentary, and also one of our other LIVE recorded calls). Please take a moment to check out this conversation! Lots of great gems! There is Hope! With health, anything is possible. EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. 100% of the time, when you improve your health, you improve how you feel. Challenges and Trauma as Allies. Look at your challenges and trauma as allies in your journey. They can be the catalyst for positive health changes, they give you skepticism, and they make you ask questions. How to Make Health Change. Vision for self and health. Connect with a vision for yourself and health. What changes do you want to experience? What is possible? List out the options. What are the things that you could work on to move in that direction? What are the things you know you need to work on? Start simple. Then start with just 1 thing. Something simple. That you can do most days if not every day. Here's the Good News: You WILL experience changes. Look for them to show up. Then you know you're on the right track. Once you start to notice the results, for most of these health habits, they may be subtle, but they are CUMULATIVE OVER TIME. Consistency is Key. PR TIP: Focus on your current habits, not your current results. Small habits over time add up to big changes. PR TIP: You get what you do consistently. Avoid Perfectionist Mindset! Avoid thinking you have to go to extremes, or go “all or nothing.” Keep it simple and doable. Simple Things to do with Nutrition Learn how to read labels. Embrace animal foods and protein. Protein is the most satiating of all the macro nutrients, and the most nutritious. Get your first meal of the day spot on! That will give you momentum. Simple Things you can do with Fitness Start with a walk in the morning. Habit stack it with getting some natural light and fresh air. This is GREAT for some "own mind time." Add a walk in the evening when you're ready. Add movement breaks throughout the day. Simple things you can do for Sleep Get early morning natural light into your eyes, without sunglasses. Get brightness throughout the day. Minimize your exposure to brightness at night. How to focus on brain health: Exercise! Walks are powerful. Train your body to be metabolically flexible and use fat for fuel. Do this by eating real food keeping carbohydrates relatively smaller compared to other things allowing natural space between your meals with no snacking. Get natural light every day = great for mitochondria. Prioritize your sleep. Take a quality creatine monohydrate. Buy this creatine, https://amzn.to/3LJ1ehB. Here's a great article on creatine https://chrismasterjohnphd.com/tools/2017/12/20/consuming-creatine-in-foods-and-supplements Get choline! Eat animal foods and egg yolks. Minimize TV. DO build social connections and play games. Why work with a coach? A good coach can be a shortcut to health. A good coach supports you. A good coach helps you hold yourself accountable. How to find a good coach: It has to feel right. It has to make sense. The coach has to seem to care. A good coach gives you autonomy and doesn't just tell you what to do.
When Sarah Imenu was told by who she thought were three wayfarers that she was going to have a baby at the age of 90, the Ramban says Hashem expected her to fully believe that it could happen, because he writes, it is an obligation for every believer in Hashem to believe that He could do anything, no matter how unrealistic it seems. It is with that in mind that Chazal have taught us that even if a person has a sharp sword on his neck, he should still hope to Hashem for salvation. There is no such thing as impossible and we have seen with our own eyes countless examples of Hashem's amazing yeshuot . A woman told me she had two babies eleven months apart right after she got married. Then, two months after her second baby was born, she discovered she was expecting a third. Her first two pregnancies were very difficult, not to mention her hands were full with two little ones at home. And so, she couldn't imagine going through it again, but she strengthened herself and prepared to do whatever job Hashem was asking her to do. At the five-month sonogram, the doctor discovered an enormous mass on the baby's neck. He said the mass was the size of the entire head. He told the woman the best-case scenario, which sounded very grim. His professional advice to her was to terminate the pregnancy immediately. She consulted with rabbis and then, heroically, decided she was ready to do whatever Hashem wanted and if this is what He wanted, she was going to continue with it. When they did a sonogram in the eighth month, it showed that the mass became so large, it was as big as the baby's entire body. Her doctor told her the chances of the baby's survival were very slim and if she wanted to continue the pregnancy, it would have to be with the special children's hospital that he recommended. She called the rabbi who was guiding her and told him of the new information. The rabbi told her she was going to see yeshuot . And she should continue with happiness and, if need be, go to whatever hospital this doctor was suggesting. She went there a few weeks later, already in the beginning of her ninth month. They did a full day's worth of testing on her, and, at the end of the day, a team of doctors came into her room, asking if she knew of the baby's status. She told them she knew about the large mass and that when the baby would be born, they would have to put a trachea, followed by a surgery to remove the mass. They told her that was no longer a possibility. Unfortunately, it got much worse. The mass got so big, it started eating away at the baby's head. At this point, the baby had only one eye and no nose and a portion of the head was missing. They told her they needed to schedule an emergency C-section and there was no longer any chance for the baby's survival. The only goal in the C-section was to save the mother, but they would not deal with the baby at all. She said, “What if the baby looks like it could survive?” The doctors said, “It's impossible. We're not treating it.” She said, “I have hope. Could you please try to save him?” The doctor said, “My nickname is Hope. They call me Dr. Hope. I'm telling you, there is no hope.” With that, they scheduled the C-section for two days later. For the next two days, she cried over and over to Hashem, asking Him to please show everyone that there is a G-d in the world. The woman called the rabbi in tears and the rabbi, once again, reassured her that everything was going to be okay and gave her chizuk to continue on with strength. He said, “Don't give up on Hashem now. It doesn't matter what the doctors say, it's all Him. אין עוד מלבדו .” She went in two days later for the C-section. And when they took the baby out, they just threw it on the mother without cleaning it or caring for it. She held her newborn and looked at it and saw a beautiful baby with two eyes and a nose and a mouth. She said, “Look! He has a face.” But the entire team just stood there with their arms folded saying, “There is nothing we can do, he's not going to make it.” Then a nurse approached holding a large needle to give the baby morphine to put him to sleep. “Please don't touch my baby!” She yelled. “Please, Hashem, save my son!” She said Shema Yisrael out loud and then she said, “ ה' הוא האלוקים !” And then, “ אין עוד מלבדו !” And then she said out loud, “There is a G-d in this world! Please, Hashem, show them who You are!” Everyone just stood there in silence. Meanwhile, the baby was breathing on his own now already for ten minutes, despite the enormous mass coming out of his neck. They kept telling her, any minute the breathing is going to stop, and he is going to pass. Then the baby opened his eyes and she yelled, “Please help!” But they all had strict orders not to touch the baby. Then the baby started making noises and cried and they realized there was potential for survival. They quickly called in the surgeon who was utterly shocked. He said he never saw a teratoma of that size before. And he couldn't believe the baby was breathing. Babies with teratoma's a quarter of that size generally don't make it, and this baby was still breathing on his own. He said, “I am proud to say that I was wrong and now we are going to do everything in our power to save him.” They performed a surgery a few days later and successfully removed the mass. Baruch Hashem, they eventually released this baby from the hospital, who is now at home with his family. Everything is possible because Hashem runs the world and nothing is beyond Him. It is up to us to always believe in His salvations.
This week, an antiwar protester interrupted a Moscow broadcast with a sign in Russian reading: “Stop the war. Don't believe the propaganda. They are lying to you here.” With the Russian government promoting propaganda on news channels and most recently passing a law to punish people spreading “false information” about the Ukraine invasion, it's been hard to distill what is actually going on in both Russia and Ukraine right now. The confusion has resulted in what Masha Gessen recently described as parallel realities transpiring in Russia and an outright denial of war in Ukraine. So how can you make sense of what is true in our world of information, especially when anyone can use propaganda not only to change your mind but also to overwhelm you?Jane Coaston talks to the Soviet-born British journalist Peter Pomerantsev to talk about propaganda and how those in power — and the everyday person — use it to undermine the fabric of society and our collective understanding. Pomerantsev is a senior fellow at Johns Hopkins University and the author of the 2019 book “This Is Not Propaganda.” He talks to Jane about Vladimir Putin's mythmaking and propaganda machine and how we as information consumers can make sense of what we know as truth.Mentioned in this episode:“Ukrainians Find That Relatives in Russia Don't Believe It's a War” by Valerie Hopkins in The New York Times“Putin No Longer Seems Like a Master of Disinformation” by Farhad Manjoo in The New York Times“This Is Not Propaganda” by Peter Pomerantsev“Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible” by Peter Pomerantsev“The Mass Ornament: Weimar Essays” by Siegfried Kracauer(A full transcript of the episode will be available midday on the Times website.)
“Americans and Europeans were guided through the new century by a tale about ‘the end of history,' by what I will call the politics of inevitability, a sense that the future is just more of the present, that the laws of progress are known, that there are no alternatives, and therefore nothing really to be done,” writes the Yale historian Timothy Snyder in his 2018 book, “The Road to Unfreedom.”The central thesis of “The Road to Unfreedom” is that different understandings of the past, its myths, histories and memories create radically different politics. Snyder wrote the book as a way of understanding Vladimir Putin's 2014 invasion of Crimea and the West's response, but its argument has become only more salient in recent weeks. You can't understand Putin's recent invasion of Ukraine without understanding his metaphysical attachment to the era of empire, his mythological telling of Russian-Ukrainian history, and his semi-mystical construction of what constitutes the Russian nation. But Snyder's more radical argument is that the West is also operating under its own mythological understanding of time — one that is so deeply ingrained in our collective psyche that it masquerades as common sense. And that understanding the influence of the “politics of inevitability” is essential to make sense of everything from the West's misreading of Putin's motivations to the internal fracturing of the European Union to the decline of liberal democracy across the globe. So that's where we start: with the central myths at the heart of the modern Western project — and the blind spots they have created. But Snyder is also a renowned historian of European great-power conflict who has written six books entirely or partly about Ukraine. So we also discuss the chasm between the radicalness of European integration and the tedium of European governance, why Snyder thinks Putin's invasion is fundamentally the product of a Russian identity crisis, Ukraine's unique history as a battleground for a great-power war, how Ukrainian identity transcends ethnicity and language, why Western leaders and analysts consistently fail to decipher Putin's intentions, the huge difference between a Russian nation premised on myth and a Ukrainian nation forged by collective action, how Ukrainian resistance could inspire a Western vision for the future and more.Mentioned:“Bloodlands” by Timothy Snyder“On the History Unity of Russians and Ukrainians” by Vladimir PutinBook recommendations:“Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible” by Peter Pomerantsev“The Origins of Totalitarianism” by Hannah Arendt“The Gates of Europe” by Serhii PlokhyThoughts? Jen Bricker-Bauer is an aerialist, motivational speaker, and New York Times, bestselling author. Born without legs, Jen's biological parents left her at the hospital, destined for a life of hardship. However, the hand of God brought her an amazing adoptive family, who taught her that everything is possible. As a child, Jen was obsessed with gymnastics, and her idol was gold medalist Dominique Moceanu. In fact, watching Dominique on TV, helped inspire Jen to start competing herself. Seemingly against all odds, Jen competed against able-bodied athletes and became a State Champion in power tumbling. As part of her fantastic story and a twist of fate, Jen later learned that her childhood gymnastics idol, Dominique Moceanu, was actually her biological sister. John R. Miles sits down with Jen Bricker-Bauer to talk about why she never says the word "can't" and how she has come to believe that everything is possible if you set your mind to it. You learn that you can achieve everything you've dreamed of when you unlock your purpose and create an intentional life. Jen discusses why she is doing everything she can to spread inspiration and joy throughout the world and is following her calling to teach others they can do anything they put their minds to achieving.
