To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word. That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. Colossians 2:10 says, And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power. When God says that those who repent of their sin and embrace Jesus Christ as Lord are complete, He means complete. Jesus Christ is called The Author and Finisher of our faith. Because Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form, that means that those who are born again are complete in Christ because of the composite work of the Godhead: Father, Son, and Spirit, in the life of every single believer. We will see in our study today that every false religious system or teacher insists that there is something else that needs to be done in addition to faith is Jesus Christ in order to be saved. Let me put it this way, whatever that something else is, let's call it an “ism”: Legalism, Ceremonialism, Ritualism, Mysticism, or Asceticism. When any “ism” is insisted upon in order to be made complete in Jesus Christ, whatever that “ism” is, is saying that Jesus Christ is not enough. Not all “isms” are bad in and of themselves, and there are many Christian “isms” that are used to define a certain theology or belief system. It can be Calvinism, Arminianism, Pentecostalism, Dispensationalism, or Cessationalism. In many cases, the “ism” can become our identity and necessary in order to understand the gospel clearly.Beloved, let us never forget that whatever “ism” you and I may choose to embrace as a follower of Jesus Christ, the believers identity is found in who they are in Christ, and Jesus Christ Himself IS The Gospel. Remember beloved, you are complete in Him, and no “ism” was ever meant to “fill the void” and that only Jesus can pay the debt of our sin and fill the spiritual void within the sinners soul. No “ism” is sitting on the throne of glory. No “ism” is the Head of The church. No “ism” created and maintains the universe. No “ism” can save your soul.Rev 5:12 Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever. Amen. SELAH
John 3:1-21,Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God. I have prayed over this morning, this message, these verses because I believe some of you came in needing to feel loved by God again. I know some of you need to feel loved again. You don't feel loved right now, at least not in your worst moments. You might know that you're loved, but you struggle to know it — and even more to feel it. There's something clouding God's love for you — different clouds in different stories. The cloud might be a relationship. Maybe a parent has been especially overbearing — or especially absent. Maybe a child has changed and started responding in ways that are confusing and painful. Maybe a spouse has grown distant, or distracted, or irritated, or worse. Maybe you're a young family battling sickness — and I mean battling, going to absolute war with the flu or RSV for weeks on end. Maybe you're in a job you hate, but you feel stuck. Maybe you're in a job you love but might lose. Maybe you'd love to have any job at all. Maybe you feel stuck in a cycle of sin that you have tried to break, maybe for years. Maybe someone keeps sinning against you. I have my clouds this week. . . . I have needed to be reminded that the God of heaven, the Maker of mountains and oceans, sunsets and freezing temperatures, the final Judge of every human soul, the most powerful, most holy, most valuable being in this or any universe loves me (loves you). Do you know that? Not just in your mind, but in your heart — in every bone and muscle in your body. I want you to know this love like that.I want you to feel how loved you are. And to do that, I'm going to take you to the most familiar verse in all the world: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” You know these words by heart, but I've prayed that you might have ears to hear them this morning as if you've never heard them before. I want the love of God to wash over you and give you strength to endure whatever makes you feel loved any less. Four Loves in One VerseWith these next 30 minutes, I want to show you four loves in John 3:16 (and by extension, John 3:1–21). I see four loves in this one verse, and I think this verse can help us make some sense of the other 20 verses in this passage. 1. God Loves the UnlovelyOkay, so four loves in one verse. First love: God loves the unlovely. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son. . . .”When you hear Jesus say that word “world,” I wonder what you hear. Do you hear “world,” and immediately think of places like Kenya, Japan, and Brazil? Or do you hear “world,” and think darkness, wickedness?“For God so loved [sinners], that he gave his only Son. . . .”The former is certainly and beautifully true — God does love and has redeemed people from all tribes, tongues, peoples, and languages (Revelation 5). And it was provocative, in Israel, for John to say that God loves the world, and not just Israel. But I don't think that's the main point here. No, the main point here is that God loves the unlovely. He loves sinners. He loves the world who despised and rejected him. This “world” is the world immersed, drowning in sin, the entirety of humanity — today, 8.062 billion people, every single one of them perishing apart from faith in Jesus. And we see that when we keep reading, verse 17:For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world (sinners), but in order that the world (sinners) might be saved through him.Why would Jesus have to clarify that: God didn't send me to condemn the world? Because the world deserved condemnation. We deserved condemnation. Romans 3:23, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”We all have sinned and do sin, and that sin deserves condemnation, punishment, death. The wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23) — and not just death, but a never-ending, always-dying death.See how ugly this world really is, next verse — how ugly, unlovely we were apart from Christ:Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. . . .We didn't just do bad things; we loved bad things. That's the world Jesus sought out. That's the world God loved. We were evil people — plotting evil, doing evil, savoring evil, and hiding in shadows — and yet God loved us, even while we laid in the dark. He didn't wait for us to come out of the darkness looking for him; no, he sent his Son, the Light of the world, into the awful, wicked shadows to find us and save us. God loves the unlovely. We named our son “Sorin Pierce” because of verses like these. Sorin means “sun” in Romanian. I'm not Romanian (Faye's certainly not Romanian), but we went looking for something that meant light (preferably two syllables, and starting with S). And we wanted to see that light pierce the darkness — the darkness in us, the darkness in our son and other children, and the darkness in the world. We named him Sorin Pierce because our God has a heart for those in darkness, because he loves the unlovely.2. God Loves BelieversSecond, God loves believers. Where do I see that in verse 16?“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Now, this verse would be enough to say that God loves believers simply because it says he saves us from perishing and gives us eternal life. Like I just said, we deserved death — the worst death, a death in which we die and die and die forever — and he gave us the opposite, the very best life imaginable, a life so good, for so long, we can hardly believe it's true. God loves believers. But there's more to this love in these verses. How does God love believers? Does he send his Son into the world and then wait around for someone to believe? This is how I used to think about salvation. God sends his good news out into the world, the gospel, and then he loves those who choose to love and believe in him. There's more to this love, though. And this gets us into the first fifteen verses of our passage. Verse 1:“Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, ‘Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.'”Jesus was turning water into wine, healing the blind and sick, seeing people's minds, and the religious leaders were taking notice. Clearly something supernatural's happening here, but it's not happening in the ways they expected. So Nicodemus comes looking for an explanation. He comes in secret, at night, and essentially says, “Help me understand what I'm seeing.” Jesus answers, verse 3:“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Say what? . . . Nicodemus is even more confused and so he asks, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”Jesus has this pharisee so turned around that he asks if an adult man has to climb back into his mother's womb. It sounds a little like the kinds of crazy questions a curious 5 or 6-year-old might ask. Jesus answers,“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.'”He's not talking about a womb birth. We had two babies born into our community group in the last couple months, two different families — Ambrose and Annie. He's not talking about that — but he's using that to talk about something else. He's talking about a spiritual birth, a birth of faith. He's pointing to the miracle of physical birth to describe something even more miraculous that has to happen in us in order for us to believe. Anyone can be amazed by a man healing blindness, or turning water to wine, or reading people's minds — whoa that's pretty cool. Something profound, something spiritual, has to happen in our eyes for someone to see those same signs and worship. Or, in the words of John 3, to see what Jesus was doing and saying and believe. Believe what? Believe that this man, born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, is the Son of God, the Messiah, and that he came to die in order to save sinners. That's where Jesus goes, verses 13–15:“the Son of Man (must) be lifted up [we know now, lifted up on the cross], that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”So, for someone to believe in Jesus, they have to see the kingdom of God. And to see the kingdom of God, we must be born again by the Spirit. How does that happen? Jesus explains, verse 8:“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”Translation: We don't know. How is someone born of the Spirit? We don't know. You can't predict, much less control, the Spirit. It's like trying to herd the wind. No, God gives life to whoever he chooses, that's the point. This love doesn't wait for a response. This love goes into the darkness and brings sight to the blind. This love brings the dead to life, a new and second and greater birth. So when I say, “God loves believers,” I don't just mean he loves those who love him. I mean he actually gives the love we have for him. If you know Faye and I's story, you know that it took me a long time to convince her to date me. We met at a wedding. She lived in Los Angeles. So I called and called and called to try and win her. She actually came out to Minnesota to visit her family here. We hung out during her trip. I thought everything was going well, and so I told her how I felt and asked her to be my girlfriend. She said (and I quote), “You're a really nice human being. And I enjoy our conversations. But when I think about a relationship, my heart is cold.”I said, “Like ice cold or lukewarm?”She said, “Cold.” She went back to California. And so I called and called and called and asked, and then called and called and called and asked. She was still colder than a Dairy Queen. Later that year, I was in LA for work, and she was willing to hang out again. I thought it was going well (you're learning some things about your new pastor here), and so I told her how I felt (again), and asked her to be my girlfriend (again). She paused for a second, and then said (and I quote), “Sure.” I was obviously over the moon with sure. And here we are, ten years of marriage, and three beautiful children.I share that story here because that's not the picture of love we get in John 3:1–21. We might imagine a lovesick God who desperately calls and calls and calls and asks, and then calls and calls and calls and asks, just waiting, hoping, begging for a “Sure.” No, this love reaches into the darkness, into the grave, and he pulls his lifeless bride out, breathes life into her body; washes her from head to toe so that she is clean, radiant, beautiful; replaces her heart of stone with a beating heart of flesh; and then performs supernatural surgery on her eyes so that she can see — and when she does see him, in the face of Jesus Christ, she loves him. Of course she loves him! She can't help but love him. We can't help but love him, right? Because his love, by his Spirit, awakens love.I think the whole conversation with Nicodemus is a window into who believes in verse 16. No one can see the kingdom of God — that is, see, believe, and worship — unless he is born again by the Spirit. This God not only loves sinners, but he sends his Spirit to awaken sinners. If you look at Jesus and see your Lord and Savior and Treasure, God's done that in you. You are born again. You're not the same person anymore. God loves those who believe — everyone who believes — with a life-resurrecting, eyesight-restoring, love-awakening love.3. God Loves His SonOkay, God loves the unlovely (he loves sinners), and he loves believers (he awakens us and enables us to see). Now, the third love in John 3:16. I wonder if you see it. This third love is the love on which the others hang. There would be no love in this verse, in this Gospel, in the universe without this third love.Third love, God loves his Son.“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”The sentence doesn't make sense unless the Father really, really, really loves his Son. This is how much God loved us — he gave the Son whom he loved. And this love (of the Father, for the Son) is going to come up again and again in this Gospel. Just a few verses later, Jesus says, verse 35: “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.”In John 15, in his final words to his friends, his disciples, he says,“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”We have never seen nor experienced a love like this one. And this love — from eternity past, long before the foundation of the world — was so sweet, so intense, so pure, that it spilled over in a world, a universe. God made the world in order to share the love they enjoyed within the Godhead — Father, Son, and Spirit. That's what Jesus prays in John 17:24:“Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. . . .26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”God has always loved his Son, and will always love his Son.And yet to really show the height and width and depth and glory of this love, the Son had to die. If sinners were going to not perish but have eternal life, someone had to die for our sin. And that someone had to be perfect, infinitely lovely, spotless, blameless, pure, holy. That someone was the Son of God, the Son we meet in Jesus, fully God (God enough to make galaxies and move mountains) and fully man (man enough to sweat and bleed and die, really die).In John 10:17, in maybe the most surprising verse of all about this love, Jesus says, “For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.”We might think the Father would love the Son less because he sent him to die (we might think a father hates his son because he gave him up like this), but the Son himself says just the opposite. The Father loves the Son precisely because —“for this reason” — the Son laid down his life and then took it back up again. God loves his Son. He so loves his Son, more than we can put into words. Certainly more than I can put into a few hundred words in this sermon. And yet as much as he loved him — infinite, immeasurable love — he gave that Son, that Treasure, his very Heart, for you. And that brings me to the fourth love in John 3:16.4. God Loves YouGod loves the unlovely. God loves believers. God loves his Son. And finally, God loves you. And I don't mean all of you; I mean each of you. God so loved you that he gave his only Son, so that if you would just believe, you will not perish — you don't have to die that death — but have eternal life.As John relives this conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, and as he hears Jesus say to this confused and curious pharisee, “. . . the Son of Man [must] be lifted up, so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life,” John can't help but jump in and say, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” You can almost see him turning from Jesus and Nicodemus to us and asking, “So do you believe? Do you see? Will you relent from your sin and step under the waterfall of this love?” Like Nicodemus, I suspect someone's hiding in here this morning. He came at night, in secret. You're here in broad daylight, but you're still hiding. You're going through your Sunday morning motions, because someone might ask questions or give you a hard time if you didn't. But you're not sure what to think about Jesus. You're quietly anxious, you're miserable, you're looking for answers and you don't want anyone to know. But you're here hoping something might finally click and make sense of all your questions and longings and heartaches. And so I want to look you in the eye, or as many of you as I can anyway, and tell you: God loves you. God loves you. He really loves you.If you believe, all four of these loves are yours. Are you weighed down by your sin, wondering if anyone (much less God) could love someone like you? The holy God loves unholy people, he loves the unlovely and undeserving. He loves sinners, even you. Do you believe?Do you look at Jesus and see the Son of God? Do you believe he is who he said he was, that he died for your sins so that you don't have to and that he rose from the dead so that you might live with him forever? Do you love him? The love of God gave you those eyes, that heart, that love. Do you see how much he loves his one and only Son? Do you see the holy, happy love that made the universe? God gave that precious Son for you, on the cross. The TableThat's what we rehearse each week at this table. Jesus's body was broken for you. His blood was spilled for you. The wrath that was meant for you fell on him. What more does God have to do to prove his love for you? Does he have to heal that sickness? Does he need to send a husband or a wife, or a child? Does he need to give you that job? Does he need to change your parent or child or spouse? Faye and I are praying all of those prayers for someone we love right now, and we want God to do all those things. We really do. But I want you to hear this morning (I want myself to hear this again): God doesn't have to answer that prayer to prove he loves you. He doesn't. In Jesus, he's already proved it. Behind all the clouds that keep you from feeling loved by God, there's a blazing, irresistible, unstoppable love — bigger and hotter than the sun. He loves you. He loves you. He really loves you.

Have you ever seen a fairytale that depicts a 2 headed dragon? In most of the story lines this makes for a dysfunctional beast, not capable of making the best decisions, rendering it vulnerable to attack by the right opponent. Just like the dragon, an organization doesn't function using the "2 headed" plan. There is an ordering in society and the family. Even the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) has an order. As you saw the Son (Jesus) during His earthly ministry, He submitted to the will of the Father. They were coequal in glory, majesty, power, and as members of the Trinity, but Jesus submitted to His Father. Today Pastor Rich will discuss what order looks like in a Christian home, and how our homes can best represent Him. Colossians 3:18-4:1
One of the things that I've noticed is that I don't have the strength, or the power in my own right to live the life that God wants me to. Have you noticed that too? We try … and we fail. What we need, is power. Power from high. Fortunately that's exactly what Jesus has in mind. POWER FROM ON HIGH Great to be with you again this week and today we're continuing in this series of messages called Walking In The Spirit. You know, I often think about this – it's kind of strange to me how God sets things up. He Himself is Spirit: we can't actually see Him or touch Him or hear Him here in the physical dimension where you and I live. Now of course at one time in history He stepped into the physical dimension when Jesus came and dwelt among us but that was two thousand years ago. And whilst we can read about who Jesus is, and what He has to say, and what He does, we can't experience God in the physical dimension in the same way as those people did way back then. So now we have something of a dilemma. God lives in a dimension that is spiritual and you and I, we live in a dimension that's physical. How do we communicate with God? How do we know not just about Him but how do we know Him? Well fortunately that's something that God thought about, and to do that He sent us His Holy Spirit, one of the three person of the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in us. See, this problem happened the moment Jesus was set to depart from this world, the physical God departing leaving what? Well fortunately leaving behind the Holy Spirit. And this is the promise Jesus made to His Disciples, the ones who were to become the Apostles who would spread His good news throughout the known world. John chapter 14 beginning at verse 15. He said: If you love me you'll keep my commandments and I'll ask the Father and He will give you another advocate to be with you forever. This is the spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him or knows him but you know him because he abides with you and he will be in you. So Jesus promised to send His Holy Spirit to those who believed in Him with their lives and in fact in those final days and hours before He was crucified it's something that He promised again and again. That through the Spirit of God the Father and the Son would come to make their home in us. Now you and I, we have a body, we have a soul, our mind, our will, our emotions and deep down we have a spirit and it's at this level that the Holy Spirit connects with us. So after Jesus was risen again and just before He ascends into heaven and leaves His disciples behind He gives them this instruction, Acts chapter 1 beginning at verse 4. He ordered them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the promise of the Father. This, he said, is what you have heard from me. For John baptised you with water but you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Now the disciples, as it turned out, thought that was fine but that wasn't the most important thing on their minds. You see, Jesus was the Messiah, and to a Jew in the first century that meant something like a warrior king, like David of old, to boot out the Romans from occupying the land and to restore the king of Israel. The Disciples, despite three and a half years with Jesus, were more interested in what was going to happen in the physical dimension of their lives rather than the spiritual dimension. Have a listen to the exchange between them and Jesus, between the physical concerns of the disciples and the spiritual priorities of Jesus. Acts chapter 1 beginning at verse 6: So when they'd come together they asked him, ‘Lord is this the time when you will restore the kingdom of Israel?' And he replied, ‘it's not for you to know the times or the periods that the Father has set by his own authority but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.' When he said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight. Do you see that? See they were interested in perhaps the most important thing from their perspective. So when is God finally going to restore the kingdom of Israel? And Jesus brushes them off because He didn't come to restore the kingdom of Israel, He came to usher in the Kingdom of God and that's spiritual not physical. Again have a listen to what Jesus had said earlier on this subject. Luke chapter 17 beginning at verse 20: Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisee's when the Kingdom of God was coming and he answered, ‘The Kingdom of God isn't coming with things that can be seen nor will they say, ‘Look here it is' or ‘There it is'. For in fact the Kingdom of God is among you. No Jesus, in the very last thing that He said to them before He left them and ascended into heaven, He wasn't so much interested in the physical dimension, His priority for them, these men who would go on to found the Church, His real concern is that they should have spiritual power from God in them. Acts chapter 1 verse 8: You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Why is that? Why is this Jesus' greatest concern? Because He knew that without the power of God, without the witness and communication and encouragement and guidance of the Holy Spirit these men simply wouldn't be able to do the things that they were called to do. You read the Book of Acts of the Apostles (which in my view should really be called The Acts of the Holy Spirit through the Apostles) and what you see is that these men came across horrendous opposition. They were called on to do mighty things and many of those things were miraculous. They went way beyond the ability of eleven men and Jesus knew that if these men had power from on high, if they were filled with the Spirit of God they could do whatever God needed them to do and then some. And friend, that's how it is with us. We think sometimes it's all up to me, my gifts, my abilities, my hard work – and hey, I'm not knocking any of that – but even as I sit here and share these things of God with you I know, I mean I know beyond any shadow of any doubt, that I couldn't do what I'm doing if it weren't for the power of the Holy Spirit. See part of walking in the Spirit is being filled to over-flowing with the Holy Spirit so that we have the power to do what God has called us to do. The power to resist the evil one, the power to overcome temptation, the power to love those who abuse us, the power to die to self, the power to take up our cross every day and follow Jesus. Friend, those things take power. They take power that is way beyond any of us and it's for that reason that God sent His Spirit to dwell in us. Now after the break we're going to see how the Spirit of God, even before He came upon these men in power, guided them in the physical dimension. That's the exciting thing. The spiritual and the physical dimensions aren't two separate things, as the Holy Spirit dwells in us He gives us the guidance and the power that we need to operate for Gods glory right here in this physical world in which you and I live. See that's the exciting bit. PRACTICAL GUIDANCE FROM ABOVE Now, it's kind of fine to talk about walking in the Spirit, it's fine to talk about having power, and a little later we're going to see how the Spirit was poured out, but what about the rubber hits the road stuff? What about the next step, the next decision you and I have to make? How does the Holy Spirit guide us? How can we know what the Holy Spirit wants us to do? How can we seek Him out and discover God's good and perfect will for us? Well that's what we're going to look at right now. We saw earlier how Jesus ordered the disciples to stay in Jerusalem and to wait for the power that God would pour out upon them. At that point He ascended into heaven. So there they were over the coming days waiting in Jerusalem and it occurred to them that they were now down to eleven disciples as a result of the exit of Judas Iscariot and they had to do something about that. So here's how it unfolds, if you have a Bible grab it, we're going to read from Acts chapter 1 beginning at verse 15: In those days Peter stood up amongst the believers together with a crowd numbered about one hundred and twenty people and he said, ‘friends the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus for he was numbered among us and was allotted his share of the ministry. Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness and falling head long he burst open in the middle of all his bowels gushed out. This became know to all the residents of Jerusalem so that the field was called, in their language, Akeldama which means field of blood. For it is written in the Book of Psalms, ‘let his homestead become desolate and let there be no one to live in it and let another take his position of overseer'. So one of the men who had accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out of among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us to his resurrection. So they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabbas who was also known as Justus and Matthias. Then they prayed and said, ‘Lord you know everyone's heart, show us which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this ministry an apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go his own way'. And they cast lots for them and the lot fell on Matthias and he was added to the eleven apostles. Can I tell you something? This is a passage of Scripture that I have struggled with for a long time because me, I've always been taught if I want to know Gods will, well the place to discover that is in God's Word, the Bible. And that's true, I mean that's what they did, they went back to the Psalm and read that they had to replace Judas. But many is the time when I've been facing a particular challenge or dilemma and surprise, surprise in the very next chapter of whatever Book of the Bible I happen to be reading at the time, in the very next bit something leaps out at me and the Holy Spirit speaks to me and I just know what God wants me to do. I'm sure if you believe in Jesus and you're someone who listens to Him through His Word that that's something that's happened to you on more than one occasion because God speaks to us first and foremost through His Word. And right here, smack bang in the middle of His Word the eleven Apostles – the guys who've spent three and a half years at the Jesus school of discipleship, the best theological seminary anyone will ever go to – these guys to make a decision cast lots! How did they do that? Well we don't know, maybe they flipped a coin, heads Joseph wins, tails Matthias wins and hey presto it came up tails so Matthias becomes Apostle number twelve. Now friend doesn't that strike you as a bit odd? I mean, why didn't they go to the Scriptures to decide between the two? No, they flipped a coin to make one of the most important decisions in the history of the Church. A coin? Give me a break! Why didn't they take a vote amongst the hundred and twenty or so Jesus followers who were in that room at the time? That's probably what most Churches would do today. No, no. They cast lots. Well doesn't that just take the cake! What's God trying to say to you and me through this? Because all Scripture is inspired by God, it's used for teaching, for proof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that's what 2 Timothy chapter 3, verse 16 says. Well here's what this Scripture has done for me. It's opened my mind to the creativity of the Holy Spirit in speaking to me and guiding me and making His will known in my life. I remember being convicted of sin one day when I was watching a family movie. God spoke so powerfully to me through what one character was doing. It's like God held a mirror up to my face and said, ‘Berni, that's you'. And over the years I've discovered that the Spirit nudges us and guides us and encourages us and convicts us in so many different ways. I am doing what I'm doing right now, sharing the love of Christ with many people across the globe, because one man came up to me at a conference and spoke some words to me. And without any shadow of a doubt I know that I know that I know that God was speaking to me through this humble gentle man. Is the Bible my absolute authority for truth? Absolutely. Do I need to discern experiences and things people say to me and impressions I have from this or from that? For sure. “Test all things” the Bible says. But friend, as we journey along our path, walking in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit is with us every moment of every day, He is with us and if we'll open our hearts and our minds and our eyes and our ears to Him He will speak to us. Am I suggesting we discern Gods will by flipping a coin? Probably not. But hey, it's in the Bible so the last thing I'm going to do is tell God what's appropriate and what's not. THE SPIRIT POURED OUT Okay, God's guidance doesn't always happen the way we expect. And speaking of the unexpected, right now I'd like to spend some time sharing with you the story of when, as Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit was first poured out on the believers. Again can I say in our experience, especially can I say for those who like me have something like a conventionally spiritually narrow western mind set, this is pretty way out there too? So join me as we have a listen to what God is up to on the day of Pentecost. If you have a Bible grab it, we're going to read from Acts chapter 2 beginning at verse 1: Now when the day of Pentecost had come they were all together in one place and suddenly from heaven became a sound like the rush of a violent wind and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues as a fire appeared among them and a tongue rested on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them the ability. Now there were devout Jews there from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem and at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered because each one of them heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished they asked, “are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear each one of us in our own native language?” Parthians, Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene and visitors from Rome both Jews and proselytes, Cretens and Arabs in our own language we hear them speaking about Gods deeds of power. All were amazed and perplexed saying to one another, “what does this mean?” but others sneered and said, “they're filled with new wine” but Peter standing with the eleven raised his voice and addressed them. “Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let it be known to you and listen to what I say. Indeed these men aren't drunk as you suppose, it's only 9 o'clock in the morning. No this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel. In the last days it will be, God declares, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves both men and women in those days I shall pour out my spirit and they'll prophecy and I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and smoky mist, the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the Lords great and glorious day. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Now this is quite an event. I mean I've had a few really powerful encounters with the Holy Spirit but never anything quite like this. A powerful sound like a rushing wind and then these flames of fire resting on everyone and all of them, all of them speaking in foreign languages and all the different nationalities there could understand the good news of Jesus in their own language. And of course the first thing, the very first thing that happens when God does something powerful and unusual like this is that everyone else has to poke fun and to criticise what's going on. They must be drunk. Well sorry buddy I know they perhaps looked a little intoxicated but they were all Galileans speaking in different languages. Being drunk certainly doesn't explain that, I mean it doesn't right? So what do we do with this? Well the Apostle Peter gets up to explain what's going on. He explains to the Jews assembled, ‘hey this is exactly what God promises in the Old Testament.' That all of these powerful things would happen and in fact if you were to read on you discover that after he finished speaking many of the people there gave their lives to Christ. Many of the very same people who only weeks before were crying out to Pontius Pilate ‘crucify Him'. See there's a clash here between the conventional, what normally happens in the physical dimension and the spiritual, the super natural. And it was a surprise to everyone. I mean if you've been around the Church for any length of time you'll know that there are some who say, ‘Okay, what happened there back there two thousand years ago on the day of Pentecost, it was absolutely a one off. It was the first time God poured His Spirit out, fair enough He did something powerful'. And then there are some others of so called charismatic and Pentecostal persuasions who claim that God is still doing mighty powerful things like this today. What do you make of it? Well God's Word is clear. If we don't have the Spirit of Christ then we don't belong to Him, Romans chapter 8, verse 9 and yet at the same time there are plenty of people who have the Spirit but where the Spirit hasn't been unleashed in power in their lives. See these Apostles are uneducated bumpkins; most of them went on to do the most amazing things for Christ. They had so much opposition, they preached the Gospel, so many people came to Jesus through them and in fact the Church around the globe, a few billion people, are Christ-followers today because of the start that the Church got from these Disciples. And most of them, they ended up dying for Him in the end because the power was unleashed in their lives by the Holy Spirit on that day. They did what they did, they could only do what they do because they were filled to overflowing with the Spirit and the presence and the power of God. Jesus promised to baptise us in the Holy Spirit. He did. And the wonderful thing is that this baptism, this drenching in the Spirit happens in different ways in different people's lives. God knows we're different. God knows that you and I are totally different people. God is going to touch you and fill you with His Spirit in a way that He knows will work for you and that way maybe totally different to the way that God deals with me. You know something, I don't have a problem with that. I mean God's God. God gets to decide what He does, how He does it, when He does it and I am not going to sit there and point fingers at other people and say, ‘Well God did it differently over there, they must be wrong'. It's not how God does it, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that in fact we are filled with the Spirit. The important thing is that the power of God is unleashed in our lives so that we can live a life that brings glory to Him: a life that bears fruit, a life that has an eternal impact in the lives of other people. Don't you reckon that's the most important thing? It's what God's Word says and God's heart is to see His power and His might unleashed in you and unleashed in me as His Spirit drenches us and utterly transforms us and unleashes the power of God through us in a lost and hurting world.
This is episode two of What Is Sound Doctrine with transcription? Now I will share with you 1-12, the importance and necessities of Biblical and Scriptural Sound Doctrine (1) Sound Biblical and Scriptural doctrine is necessary for maintaining biblical truth and for rebuking errors. (2) Christian ministry and Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine go hand in hand. (3) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine is the very essential discernment of the Christian faith. (4) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine is both relevant to and practical for Christian living. (5) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine allows no compromise. (6) Sound Biblical and Scriptural doctrine is not a choice for one who belongs to Christ, it is a necessity to guard them from deception. (7) Neglecting Sound and Biblical Doctrine brings grave danger to believers to be lead astray. (8) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine will expose false teachers and their teachings (9) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine will expose heretical teachings, half-truths, and unsound doctrine. (10) Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine will expose false gospels, cults, false religions, legalism, self-righteousness, exploitation of God's Grace, and a different Jesus from the Bible. (11) Secondary issues that do not jeopardize or conflict with Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine should not be entertained, exhausted, or welcomed among believers because it only causes discord, division, and turmoil. (12) Enduring Sound Biblical and Scriptural Doctrine mission is to expose false, erroneous, heretical, and anti-doctrines that is adversarial to the Authentic Gospel Message Of The Holy Scriptures that is Inspired by the unity of the Godhead (FATHER, SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT. #sounddoctrine #reformedtheology #theology #reformed #doctrine #theologymatters #bible #biblicaltruth #calvinism #solascriptura #christian #solideogloria #charlesspurgeon #christianity #faithalone #biblequote #johncalvin #bibleverses #calvinist #god #biblescripture #jesuschrist #spurgeon #scripture #rcsproul #paulwasher #gospelcentered #biblestudy #grace #bibleverse --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblequestionsandanswers/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblequestionsandanswers/support
Elohim is the Hebrew word used over 2500 times to describe the sovereign God of creation. It implies the all-powerful nature of God, who is self-existing outside of time and space. Elohim implies a plurality of majesty, which is the triune nature of God. It does not imply that there are multiple gods, but one God, with a triune Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. All of creation reflects the image of the triune nature of Elohim. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…”—Romans 1:20 Elohim made Adam's race to bear His triune image. He has redeemed us to have a relationship with Him. Join Pastor Phil as he unpacks the triune nature of Elohim and how we can be His image-bearers on earth! New series on the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John 17.
Modern LDS Mormon resources claim that Mormons are just another denomination of Christians, sharing a common belief in the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) with Catholics and Protestants and Orthodox. But is that true? In this two-part series, Joe will take a closer look at what the LDS Church REALLY teaches about the Trinity, and about the Father, Son, and Spirit… as well as claims of other divine beings. Speaker 1: You’re listening to Shameless Popery with Joe Heschmeyer, a production of Catholic Answers. Joe Heschmeyer: Welcome back to Shameless Popery. I have almost …
In Christian theology, the Bible reveals there is one God who exists as three distinct Persons within the Trinity (Gen 1:26; 11:6-7; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14; 1 Pet 1:2): God the Father (Gal 1:1; Eph 6:23; Phil 2:11), God the Son (John 1:1, 14, 18; 8:58; 20:28; Col 2:9; Heb 1:8), and God the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Cor 2:11-12; 2 Cor 13:14). God is three in Person, but one in essence, sharing the same attributes. The use of the Hebrew numeral echad (אֶחָד) reveals, in some contexts, the idea of a complex one, which supports the doctrine of the Trinity (Deut 6:4; cf., Gen 2:24; Ezra 3:1; Ezek 37:17). All three are co-equal, co-infinite, co-eternal, and worthy of all praise and service. According to John Walvoord: In contrast to the polytheism of the heathen world with its many gods and idols, the Christian faith centers in one God. This God, however, is revealed to be a Trinity, including the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. As such, we distinguish the Father from the Son and both of them from the Holy Spirit…All students of scriptural truth labor to understand the doctrine of the Trinity, but it eludes them because it is beyond anything that they experience in this life…Accordingly, the best procedure is to accept the Bible as true and accept the fact that there is one God who exists in three persons and leave the explanation of this to the life after this.[1] The three Persons of the God-head are one in essence (Deut 6:4; Isa 43:10; 44:6; 45:5-6), and share the same divine attributes. The attributes of God consist of intrinsic characteristics that are equally representative of the God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God's attributes are revealed in Scripture, which means they are objective and can be learned by God's people. Furthermore, the attributes of God explain His actions. And we cannot separate or elevate one attribute above another. The Bible reveals God is: Living, which means “He is the living God and the everlasting King” (Jer 10:10), He “has life in Himself” (John 5:26; cf. Psa 42:2; 84:2; Matt 16:16; John 1:4) and is the ultimate source of life. Paul states, “for in Him we live and move and exist” (Acts 17:28). This attribute takes priority, for if God is not living, none of the other attributes are possible. Self-existent (aseity), which means His existence depends on nothing outside of Himself (Ex 3:14). Moses said, “from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psa 90:2). There is no prior cause that brought God into existence, He will never cease to be, and He depends on nothing outside of Himself. Holy (Lev 11:44; Psa 99:9; Isa 45:5-19), which means God is morally perfect and separate from all that is sinful. Spirit (John 4:24; 2 Cor 3:17), which means the nature of God's being is spirit, not material. Sovereign (Psa 115:3; Isa 46:9-11; Dan 4:35; Acts 17:24-28), which means God acts freely as He pleases, always as He pleases, and only as He pleases. Immutable (Psa 102:26-27; Mal 3:6), which means God's essential nature does not change. Eternal (Deut 33:27; 1 Tim 1:17), which means God has always existed, does exist, and forever will exist. Infinite (1 Ki 8:27; Jer 23:24), which means God exists in space and beyond space. Omniscient (Psa 139:1-4; Matt 6:31-33), which means God knows all things and is infinite in knowledge. Omnipresent (Psa 139:7-10; Jer 23:24), which means He is equally and fully everywhere present. Omnipotent (Job 42:2; Isa 40:28), which means God is all-powerful and able to accomplish all He desires. Righteous (Psa 11:7; 119:137), which refers to His intrinsic moral perfection, from which He commands all things in heaven and earth, and declares as good that which conforms to His righteousness and as evil that which deviates. Just (Psa 9:7-8; 19:9), which refers to the outworking of His righteousness in which He justifies or condemns, blesses or curses, that which does or does not conform to His righteous character. True (Jer 10:10; John 17:3), which means He is genuine, in contrast to false idols. This means He truthful (2 Sam 7:28; John 17:17). His knowledge and declarations define reality and help us make sense of what is. Love (Jer 31:3; 1 John 4:7-8), which means He is committed to us, desires our best, and acts for our benefit. Good (Psa 100:5; 145:9; Nah 1:7; Jam 1:17), which means all He does is good, and that He is the ultimate source of all that is good. Faithful (Deut 7:9; Lam 3:21-23), which means He is reliable in all He says and does, always keeping His Word. Merciful (Psa 86:15; Tit 3:5), which means He is kind toward us and does not judge us as we deserve. Gracious (Psa 111:4; 116:5), which means He treats us better than we deserve. All three Persons of the Godhead are involved in providing salvation. Our salvation is said to be planned and initiated by God the Father, agreed upon and executed by God the Son, and imparted to each person by God the Holy Spirit. According to Lewis Chafer: [It] is essential to recognize that the “salvation [which] is of Jehovah” includes the three Persons of the Godhead as actively engaged in the realization of this stupendous undertaking…In every aspect of saving grace the three Persons are concurring. Even when hanging on the cross, the Son was not alone in His vast achievement. It was God who was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself; the Father was offering His Lamb; and that sacrifice was offered through the eternal Spirit (Heb 9:14).[3] Robert Lightner states: Evangelical Christians, in harmony with the historic orthodox Christian faith, worship God who is one in three and three in one, one in essence and three in person. The entire Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is involved in the salvation of the sinner. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for sinners. He is the Savior! It is customary in evangelical circles to put such emphasis on the second person's part in our salvation that the roles of the Father and the Spirit are often slighted…Even though it is not always expressed in the same way, evangelicals agree that man's salvation is the product of the Holy Trinity.[4] Warren Wiersbe adds: You will note that all three Persons in the Godhead are involved in our salvation (see also 1 Peter 1:3). As far as God the Father is concerned, you were saved when He chose you in Christ in eternity past. But that alone did not save you. As far as God the Son is concerned, you were saved when He died for you on the cross. As far as God the Spirit is concerned, you were saved when you yielded to His conviction and received Christ as your Savior. What began in eternity past was fulfilled in time present, and will continue for all eternity![5] In the following lessons, special attention will be given to the specific members of the Trinity and their work in salvation. Walking in the steps of the Holy Spirit. Oneness in the Godhead - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless life and took our place on the cross. Today is the day to surrender to Jesus, if you have not already done so. Everything Jesus did on planet earth was with the Holy Spirit in him. Can you get by without the Holy Spirit in your life. Sin and disobeying God does not mix with the Holy Spirit.
The CreationGENESIS 1:1-5;1 In the beginning God ([a]Elohim) [b]created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was [c]formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, [d]“Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good (pleasing, useful) and [e]He affirmed and sustained it; and God separated the light [distinguishing it] from the darkness. 5 And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was [f]evening and there was [g]morning, one day. This is the very first name given to God found in the very first verse of Genesis. This name shows that God is the majestic ruler over all. Elohim is actually a plural word and it's use as the first name of God and sets him high above all other gods. It also foreshadows the later revelation of the triune Godhead – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.(goole.com) TALK: TALKINGPOETRY PIECE (TPOETRYP) 3/29/23 TALKING POETRY PIECE (TPOETRYP) WAS CREATED AS A WEEKLY SEGMENT, TO SPOTLIGHT CHRISTIAN POETS IN POEMS AND SPOKEN WORD, IN POETRY! 3/30/23 THE CREATION OF THE TALKING POETRY PIECE (TPOETRYP) QUESTIONAIRE 1. Welcome to the Full Dig Podcast. Today, we continue the current sermon series Promises from the Upper Room. Today, Pastors Kirk Sexton and Bruce Johnson discuss the promise of the advocate or the Holy Spirit. The permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit brings us comfort of God's continuing presence. The presence of the Holy Spirt means that all the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit is with us. Join us as we discuss the implications of this presence in our lives and the mystery of the Holy Spirit.
In, God, we are alike but not the same. God created us all after his image and likeness and therefore his attributes as loving diety is being a triune-Godhead(Father, son, and Holy Spirit)(God thinks it, Jesus says it and the Holy Spirit moves and does it everything changes) he loves us and wants us to mirror him in our actions and our love but he didn't want robots. Therefore he created reflections of himself and through his power, which is the Holy Spirit uses willing vessels to work on earth on his behalf. The earth is God's foot stool and we are his people, his children, his flock. He created a place for us that we will dwell in as heaven his his throne, for us to rule like he rules in heaven. He knew that if the free moral agents he created would lovingly accept the Holy Spirit that his power could manifest in so many ways. Same Spirit, different operations, like-minded folks used, but different characteristics. God created lots of different moving parts none greater than the other, which when all fitly joined together in unity will be a spiritual atomic bomb on the emeny!!! God has giving us the power to speak words audibly and we have the ability to understand God's voice and listen, comprehend so many blessings come with being God's child. Like with any loving parent will love on their children God is the epitome of love because he is just that pure unadulterated love. There is nothing missing and or broken about God's love. In fact it will cover the multitude of sins. Since Jesus became sin something God hates, even though he never sinned and Jesus is God made flesh. Jesus was willing to be born to became what displeased God and die so when God would see us he would see Jesus because he will remember Jesus' sacrifice for us and then have mercy on us. Therefore we are the multitude and our sins are far greater but through Jesus' passion, his Death and his resurrection we are covered by love and are no longer subjected to the things of this world. We are in this world but are of the kingdom of God therefore greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world and though this life be temporary it's but for a moment God really established his kingdom with Jesus and now in and through us. He didn't leave us without giving gifts to all mankind but not for us to sit on but to use!! Since God didn't make clones our individual impact is necessary and much needed in the world today like never before. So with all that being said we need the manifestation of the Holy Spirit to lead us and see us through 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (7) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: (8) for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, (9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, (10) to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. (11) But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. That's why it's God's Holy Spirit within us once we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour but our characteristics that God uses to get his message through to others that are simular to us that can relate to us or we them based on our testimonies and us expressing how we have made it over and come through. So don't think you have to fit a mold of others God only made one you there is no one like you or I we are the designers original after his image and likeness our character, our love, our mind, and emotions which is why we still need God because we have been marred by the Potter being a lot of us have had trials and tribulations so God knows we are imperfect. But if we decrease and allow God to arise in us and let his emenies be shattered God can put his perfect on our imperfect and reveal our reflection of him and he gets th --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/courageous-beauty/message

Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.' Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.' And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.” Genesis 1:28-31 (NIV)The Bible gives us very little detail of Jesus' life between the ages of twelve and thirty, when He began his public ministry. One of the only things Scripture notes about this significant chunk of time is that Jesus was known in His community for His work as a carpenter. This is remarkable! The only thing the Bible tells us about what Jesus was doing for half of His life was doing the work of a creator and entrepreneur, revealing to us this important characteristic of the Trinity.Given Jesus' ultimate purpose for coming to earth, you might have expected God to choose for the Messiah to grow up in the home of a priest, like the prophets Samuel and John the Baptist, or maybe in a Pharisaical household, like the Apostle Paul. Instead, God placed Jesus in the home of a carpenter, where for eighty-five percent of His working life, He would reveal God's character as a creator and an entrepreneur, creating new things for the good of others. In just three years of public ministry, Jesus revealed countless characteristics about His Father. To the five thousand, Jesus showed us that God is our provider. To Lazarus, Jesus showed us that God is the giver of life. And on the cross, Jesus showed us that “God so loved the world” that He would sacrifice His only Son in order to spend eternity with us. If Jesus was able to reveal so much of God's character in such a relatively short period of time, the fact that Jesus spent twenty years revealing God's creative and entrepreneurial spirit should stop us in our tracks.Think back to the first week of this devotional series. What God created in the first six days is astonishing, but what's equally remarkable is what He did not create. After six days of work, God left the earth largely undeveloped and uncultivated. Then He called you and I to join Him as His co-creators, “filling and subduing” the world. When we create, we are emulating the entrepreneurial and creative character of the Godhead: Father, Spirit, and Son. Your work as a creator is not “secular” or “less than” the work of a “full-time missionary” or pastor. No, you are doing God-like work for His glory and the good of others. Glorify Him through your creating today!
"In the book of Psalm 107:21 we read where the psalmist is declaring all the wonderful works that HE does toward the children of MEN! The Bible declares that GOD's goodness rains on the just and the unjust. It is for this reason that weall on the whole Earth are to give praise, hionor and glory to GOD our creator. yret we know that everyone doesn't give GOD praise and many don't care to believe in HIM. Jesus tells three stories in Luke 15 that give us some insight on God's perspective of reaching the one. While the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son reveal a distinct person of the Godhead (Father, Son & Holy Spirit), they also have some very common themes. In today's message, Pastor Fred shares how God reacts to the lost one, how He responds when the lost one is found and how He restores everything that was lost.
Christ expects that His new creation (that's those who believe in Him and confess Jesus as Lord), shall bear an abundance of fruit. Romans 8:14 says that ‘For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.' Where do we get this abundance of fruit from and how do we bear it? We should never consider any alternative source but that of the Holy Spirit. Therefore in last week's program we briefly touched on the fruit of the Holy Spirit by looking at Galatians chapter 5 verses 22-23. Colossians 2:9-10 (AMPC) states 9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. 10 And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. Since the Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead, and since the believer is in Him (Christ), the Holy Spirit is in Christ where we are, at the same time as Christ in us the Hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27). Therefore, the source of that fruit comes from the Holy Spirit, which is the best source and the purest fruit. The only thing in the way of this fruit that we are trying to bear and the person in front of us who desperately needs the fruit on our branch, is our free will. Is our free will focused on the things of the Spirit or the things of the flesh? We cover in detail in Galatians 5 in this program. This program covers the following Scriptures from the Amplified Classic version (AMPC): Galatians 5:13-24.

God wants the eyes of your heart enlightened, flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints His set-apart ones, Ephesians 1:18 Which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. Ephesians 1:20-21 And God has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the churchWhich is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself. Ephesians 1:22-23 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority of every angelic principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Philippians 2:9-11 The Name (ha-shem) is used by many Jews in the place of Yahweh-the divine name for God. Christ is your Sufficiency in All Things N In All Ways - He is Your LifeGod wants you to be aware of your Insufficiency, so you will Rejoice IN CHRIST SUFFICIENCY!The LORD JESUS says to you, My GRACE is SUFFICIENT for you, for My Strength Is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, you can boast in your Insufficiency, in your Weaknesses most gladly knowing that MY POWER Rest upon you. (2 Corinthians 12:9)The fact is that we possess all sufficiency for all things in Him.Today we want to focus on all that is bound up in this lavishly bestowed and given to us IN CHRIST JESUS.My goal is that you may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that you may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, IN WHOM are hidden All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Colossians 2:2-3)Scripture says, IN CHRIST dwells all the fullness of Deity, the Godhead IN bodily form, and you are COMPLETE IN CHRIST, you literally have been filled up, you have been brought to fullness IN CHRIST. For you are IN HIM, made full and having come to fullness of life IN CHRIST for you too are filled with the Godhead–Father, Son and Holy Spirit–and reach full spiritual stature. Who is the Head of all rule and authority of every angelic principality and power. (Colossians 2:9-10)This is the surpassing theme of the New Testament, which is distilled and articulated in this phrase. Everything from Matthew to Revelation speaks to the issue of the sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Yes from God, you have your life in Christ Jesus, He raised us up together with Christ and made us sit down together, giving us joint seating with Christ in the heavenly sphere by virtue of our being in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6)Whom God made our Wisdom from God, to reveal to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as our Righteousness, thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God, and our Consecration making us pure and holy, and our Redemption providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin. (1 Corinthians 1:30)In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it says, “My grace” – that is the grace of God in Christ – “is sufficient for you.” In Ephesians 1:3 it says that, “We have in Christ been blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus.” And Hebrews 10:14 says, “By one offering He has perfected forever them that are His, or sanctified forever them that are His.” So all of these Scriptures speak to the fact of our total sufficiency IN JESUS CHRIST for every need for ALL time and eternity. And no clearer statement exists than that of Colossians 2:10, “You are complete in Him.” Having the LORD Jesus Christ is to have everything you need. To have Him is to have everything, not to have Him is to have absolutely nothing at all. All love, joy, peace, meaning, value, purpose, hope, fulfillment in life now and forever is bound up in Christ. And when a person receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they enter into an all-sufficient relationship with an all-sufficient Christ. 1. Jesus is your Scriptural Sufficiency.2. Jesus is your Resource Sufficiency.3. Jesus is your Strength Sufficiency.4. Jesus is your Redemption Sufficiency.I pray that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, to exercise every kind of endurance and patience, perseverance and forbearance with joy, Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God's holy people) in the Light. The Father has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, which means the forgiveness of our sins.Colossians 1:11-14 Claiming the sufficiency of Christ, and realizing our sufficiency in Christ, is the absolute key to being victorious in our battles. Yes, we must be free from our attitude of self-sufficiency. We must have the might of Christ in our challenges, and in our weaknesses allow Christ to be our strength!
When Jesus hung on the cross, giving His life for you and me, he cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?" But had God really forsaken Christ on the cross? Listen as Glen shares the beautiful truth of how all three persons of the Godhead--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--suffered together at the cross to redeem humankind!
If we are to have true church unity then we must understand our calling and live it out. Unfortunately, most churches have forgotten their calling. That is what the apostle reminds us of here in Ephesians 4. The Lord has determined its purpose is reflecting the Godhead (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Paul puts it this way, live worthy of the calling we have received from Godhead, means, in a very essential way with humility, patience and love preserve the unity of the Spirit.
