The news that local officials had feared for years could come finally arrived Tuesday, when NASCAR officials confirmed they were yanking away Richmond Raceway's spring race weekend in 2025 and moving it to Mexico City. Richmond Raceway may be losing its June NASCAR race weekend in 2025. NASCAR officials are planning to award NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series races next year to Mexico City, Mexico as soon as Tuesday, Jordan Bianchi wrote in The Athletic Monday, citing multiple industry sources. Due to the threat of bad weather from Tropical Storm Debby, Richmond Raceway officials have cancelled all pre-event activities at the raceway through 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. The decision was made in order to prepare for the weekend and ensure the safety of fans, officials said. "Who's Your Driver," a campaign from DRIVE SMART Virginia, will be the presenting partner for the NASCAR race weekend at Richmond Raceway Aug. 10-11, track officials announced this week. The campaign is aimed at promoting safe and sober driving. Motorsports Christmas has come and gone. Feels like we all got socks this year. We're going over all the action from the first lap of Monaco and the world's fastest parade that followed. After a four-hour delay, we finally got to see an action-packed Indy 500. We talk all about Newgarden going back-to-back and Larson skipping his day job to do his side job. Spent last weekend driving down to North Carolina with Will Kittelton and my dad, Brian Youngblood and meeting up with our old buddy Mason on Lake Norman in Denver, North Carolina. The spur of the moment trip also included the NASCAR Cup race on Sunday afternoon in Martinsville, VA. We sat down Saturday night and figured we'd record a show while we watched the Xfinity Series Race on an iPad in a little cabin on the lake.
