Send us a textKnob Creek 9 Year serves as both an incredible value at $35 and a meaningful journey marker for bourbon enthusiasts seeking authentic whiskey experiences without breaking the bank.• Knob Creek was established in 1992 as part of Jim Beam's small batch collection created by Booker Noe• The name pays homage to Abraham Lincoln's childhood home in Kentucky• After temporarily losing its age statement in 2016 due to inventory shortages, the 9-year age statement proudly returned in 2020• The classic mash bill consists of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley• Knob Creek's single barrels come in at a robust 120 proof while the standard 9-year holds steady at 100 proof• For its modest $35 price point, Knob Creek 9 delivers a flavor profile that rivals bourbons costing substantially more• The nose presents distinct vanilla ice cream cone notes while the palate offers vanilla frosting that transitions to caramel with leather on the finish• Jim Beam allows their barrels to age naturally in Kentucky's climate without rushing the process• The current batch earned an impressive 15/18 rating, demonstrating exceptional quality for its price pointRemember, good friends and good bourbon equal good times. Earlier this month, a group of Thompson Hospitality employees made their way to Bourbon Country in Kentucky to ensure the company's restaurants were able to provide a little extra something special for their guests next year. Those employees embarked on a tour of the James B. Beam and Maker's Mark distilleries for the purpose of selecting bourbon barrels exclusive to the company, or single barrel selects. The group was able to choose their own single barrels by sampling from several barrels selected by the master distillers. Those barrels will then be bottled and shipped to the company – with an estimated delivery in the spring – where they will be used to create unique cocktails only available at Thompson's restaurants; no two barrels are ever the same. This uniqueness is what has drawn the Thompson team to Kentucky a second year in a row for this process.

It's easy to be a leader when times are good — but when times are tough, the true measure of one's leadership is revealed. For the last 225 years, Jim Beam, one of America's oldest companies, has grown through historically tough seasons, including past pandemics, wars won and lost, and the Great Depression. How? By putting people and purpose before profit. In today's episode with talk with longtime client and friend Tom Bufalino of the James B. Beam Distilling Company on how he and his team work to combine growth with doing good — and how they've used Meridian, Plenty's strategic process, to amplify both. It's a lively, energetic conversation with one of our favorite people. Come join us!

The farming village of Knockdhu has 29 residents, 17 dogs, a bunch of sheep and cattle...and one distillery. Gordon Bruce has called Knockdhu home since 2006 as the manager of Knockdhu Distillery, the home of Inver House's anCnoc single malt Scotch Whisky. We first met Gordon in 2011 during a tour of the distillery, and caught up with him again at the recent Wonderful World of Whisky Show in Cornwall, Ontario - one of his rare trips away from that tiny farming village in Aberdeenshire. You'll hear our conversation on WhiskyCast In-Depth. In the news, the University of Kentucky's distilling studies program has a Bourbon benefactor after Beam Suntory donated $5 million to establish the James B. Beam Institute for Distilling Studies. Bushmills has received local approval for a $39 million expansion project that will add a second stillhouse and double the distillery's capacity. We'll also look at the week's new whiskies and much more, along with announcing the winner of our latest WhiskyCast competition!
