Could this be the first time the Wests Tigers score three straight wins this decade? After beating the Sharks and Dragons, Wests Tigers have the opportunity to make it three wins in a row this weekend. The club hasn't managed to get a win in three consecutive rounds since 2018. But, it's going to be a tough monkey to get off our backs; the consistently successful Melbourne Storm stands in our way. Oh, and the game is down in the southern capital as well! What else is on this podcast? On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we preview the big clash with the Storm, with opinions divided on our chances. Joel Helmes, Steve Stretton, and Declan McCutcheon also wrap up last weekend's win over St.George-Illawarra with all agreement that our boys have shown some impressive patches of play. There's a round of Buy, Sell or Hold on this mid-week pod with topics ranging from culture to depth, and Adam Doueihi. Talking about Doueihi also opens up discussion about the futures of Brent Naden and Starford To'a at the Wests Tigers. And, who wants David Fifita at our club? The giant edge second-rower looks set to leave the Gold Coast Titans imminently. Should the Wests Tigers be in the market for the big man? What might entice him to come to the Tigers? And what would he be like playing alongside Jerome Luai on our left edge? We try to answer all those questions. Speaking of questions, we also have Yioti's Quiz, and this week's quiz has us looking to answer some questions himself! Including, did you forget Shawn Blore and David Nofoaluma? Let's keep fingers and toes crossed for a win over the Storm this weekend so that not only can our beloved team cement itself in the eight, but that our big 400th episode is a post-victory edition!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Wests Tigers made it two straight wins with a victory over the Dragons in Magic Round. Travelling to Brisbane after last Sunday's dramatic win over the Sharks, the Wests Tigers held on against the Red V 34-28. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Nick Hayes try to make sense of the Tigers' most recent performance. Some bits looked great, other aspects of our performance were less impressive, despite our boys coming away with two valuable points. The boys put the game under the microscope and looked at areas we can still improve, and the areas that have some of us confident we're going to go at least darn close to the finals. Another discussion point is the difference in the team now, after eight rounds, compared to the Tigers' team that started the year. Some of the individual performances from the Saturday night fixture also get a mention, including Jerome Luai, Jahream Bula, Charlie Staines, and our Terminator, Terrell May. Saints and Sinners, Eddie turns to God? Yes, the man upstairs gets a mention on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast with Eddie thanking the all-mighty for his help in recent games! There are, of course, some great 'One Word' submissions from the many loyal and dedicated Wests Tigers fans on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Stefano Utoikamanu also gets a mention this edition, that's ahead of our big clash with the Stoem this weekend (three in a row??). And Steve Stretton, who did have a leave pass for this edition of the podcast, has turned up in the newspapers after taking a well-known (maybe not overly respected) rugby league columnist to task. How good is it!? A post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast! The Wests Tigers registered their fifth win of the 2024 season on Saturday night at Campbelltown with a two-point triumph over the Rabbitohs. Aside from beating Souths, a great thing at any time, the win lifts the team one win ahead of the totals recorded in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. It also keeps some hope alive that we might be able to hand that dreaded Wooden Spoon to another arch-rival, Parramatta. In this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Nick Hayes and Garry Watson to review the game, particularly the performances of some of the individual Wests Tigers players. This includes a look at the quite raw, but still quite promising fullback, Heath Mason. A stack of one-word submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum also features, and these range from 'Confused' to 'Relief' and everything in between! We take a look at two things that might affect the 2025 Wests Tigers team, firstly, the importance of beating Souths and thus ending a losing streak that we didn't want to take into the new season. Secondly, our new recruit Jerome Luai has a big challenge ahead at Penrith over the next six weeks, how will what happens to the Panthers in the finals affect our side when he lands at Concord in November? It's so good to be talking about a Wests Tigers win and we hope that means you really enjoy this much lighter and brighter edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
For NSW it was a victory that pushed back against Queensland mythology, aura and history. For the Maroons, coach Billy Slater got a rare taste of defeat and it did not agree with his palette. From both sides, we saw heroic defence, raw physicality and wild intensity. Today we're unpacking an Origin classic and asking if it's NSW's finest ever win and how it might shape the series to come. It's the return of Josh and Bill, and they indeed do talk a lot of crap, and today it has been recorded for a podcast episode. Why not stop by as these two buffoons of news offer you the following important discussion points: 1. Tetris has been defeated! And no one really knew that was a thing! But we discuss the worldwide implications. 2. Dogs eating homework? How about dogs so smart they avoid having to go on a plane by eating a passport! 3. Steamboat Willie starring a cartoon mouse that we are not allowed to name, is public domain, and we talk about cartoon horror movies that come as a result. 4. David Warner lost his baggy green caps. Or did he?! We contemplate the outcome. 5. Jerome Luai has signed with the Wests Tigers. One of us didn't know this. We ponder the likely outcomes. 6. The Melbourne Nude Cycling event has been cancelled after this year! Possible reasons for this outcome are collated. Eddie's back! After a self-imposed break away from the pod, and the Wests Tigers in general, Mr Otto is back in the host's chair. On this off-season edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie, along with Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson, cover everything that's been happening around our great club. That includes more talk around the review into the Wests Tigers. The guys ask whether the delay in releasing the key review findings, or there appearing to be no major moves occurring at the moment, is a good or bad thing? Should we be starting to grow concerned that significant reforms to the club's administration and governance are/were a bridge too far? Eddie, Garry and Declan have their say on all that. Also, should the owners of the club be concerned about our major sponsor leaving if the review leads to the removal of Chairman Lee Hagipantelis? The other big off-season talking point is the attempt to steal Jerome Luai off of the high-flying Panthers. There's a discussion around how that may pan out over the coming days. The boys give their thoughts on what Luai would bring for the Tigers, where he might play, and whether Penrith or the Bulldogs are a greater threat to get his signature. Addin Fonua Blake's future also comes up for discussion, including whether we should look at trading one of our current players for the big Warriors prop. Adam Doueihi has been in the news over an off-field social media issue, but on the field there are hopes he will play a part in the 2024 Wests Tigers team. The guys give their thoughts on how he might be used. We hope you enjoy the latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're back! After a little break to refuel and recharge, the Wests Tigers Podcast is up and running again just as the Wests Tigers hit the training paddock for season 2024. On this edition, Joel Helmes is joined by Declan McCutcheon, Steve Stretton, and Garry Watson, with one of the main talking points being an update on the Holman Barnes Group's review into the Wests Tigers. We also take a look at Benji Marshall the coach. What will his style be? Will he have the cattle to play the way Benji wants us to next year? Further to all that, what contribution are we expecting from the very experienced John Morris? And, should Wests Tigers be trying to lure Wayne Bennett to the club? Bennett will finish up with the Dolpins at the end of the 2024 season and there's been some talk he could be our future Head of Football. There's also some discussion around the future of Charlie Staines, and we fantasise about adding Addin Fonua-Blake and Jerome Luai into the Wests Tigers team. As part of that Luai talk, we tackle the question of whether the Wests Tigers should be giving new recruits Bud Sullivan and Latu Fainu a chance to prove themselves before making a play for the three-time Premiership winner. And we also take a good look at the 2024 NRL draw for the Wests Tigers. It's good to be back, thank you for your patience!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
