McKay examines the transformative power of words and how they forge our identities and destinies in today's episode. Exploring the significance of the labels we adopt and the profound effect words have on our perception and actions, our host invites listeners to reconsider their self-perceptions and strive for excellence.Expanding on this theme, McKay shares captivating stories, such as a rancher's encounter with a federal agent, an MIT classroom experiment, and Harper Lee's inspiring journey, each underscoring the influence of language on our lives. These anecdotes, coupled with scientific research, illustrate the dramatic shifts that positive affirmations and constructive self-talk can initiate, propelling us beyond mediocrity to embrace our exceptional selves. McKay's narrative here today is a compelling reminder that the words we choose to internalize and the labels we accept can either constrain us or catalyze our growth, highlighting the essential role of humility and faith throughout.Episode Highlights:The deep impact of labels and perceived authority on our sense of self and our actionsHow the labels we adopt can shape our identity and influence our life's trajectoryThe significant role a single word plays in altering our perceptions of others and ourselvesCelebrating the power of belief and encouragement in overcoming obstacles and achieving greatnessThe transformative effect of positive affirmations and self-talk on personal developmentHow words scientifically influence our mental and physical well-beingHow humility and faith in the words we internalize can lead to meaningful changes in our livesEncouraging a reevaluation of the words we hold onto as a path toward growth and escaping mediocrityQuotes:"Words do create worlds.""Sometimes labels are nothing more than a meaningless badge in the arena of life.""One word, one label can change our perception of ourselves.""Every day and in every walk of life, ordinary people do extraordinary things.""Words are a big deal. They can bring joy, answer prayers, give belief, and change perspectives.""What you believe, the words you lay hold on, matter.""Remember the power of words to change your life, to change your mind, to give you gifts meant for you.""Mediocrity is pretty darn comfortable.""The truth is we often place labels on ourselves, such as talented or unable, unworthy, fake, selfish, ugly.""You are extraordinary. Sometimes we and you need a reminder of just how precious you are in the eyes of your Maker."Links:https://www.mckaychristensen.org/

Teachers have a ton of responsibilities that pull them in a million different directions. Planning lessons, differentiation, grading papers, collaboration, classroom management, behavior management, IEPs, parent teacher conference, just to name a FEW.It makes sense that you're feeling overwhelmed. And you may be tired and exhausted… like, ALL the time. You may feel like you CANNOT do it all. But you know what? That is NOT the biggest mistake teachers make. The biggest mistake that you could make- as a teacher trying to do it all- is comparing yourself to other teachers who seem to have it all together. That is what we are talking about on today's podcast - how to stop comparing yourself to other teachers or homeschool parents. Many of us compare ourselves to the teacher next door. Her classroom is always neat and tidy. Her students always seem to be well behaved. She is happy and cheerful all the time and maybe even leaves school at a decent hour. It always leaves you wondering- how does she do it all?! And why do I seem to be such a hot mess compared to her? We're sharing tips on how to stop these thought patterns.Did you know that there is psychology behind why we compare ourselves? Humans have evolved to compare themselves to others as a way to gauge their own abilities and social standing within their communities. This behavior likely evolved as a survival mechanism to assess one's fitness for resources and protection within a group. The social comparison theory suggests that people have an innate drive to evaluate themselves against others in order to reduce uncertainty and improve self-evaluation. This process can influence self-esteem, motivation, and emotional well-being.Those are just two ideas we dive into in this episode which is full of methods and ideas to help you understand why we compare ourselves to others and how you can stop comparing yourself to other teachers or homeschool parents. Whether you're a confident teacher or need a boost, you won't want to miss this episode that is sure to help you understand and stop comparing yourself.Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/stop-comparing-yourselfKey points about how to stop comparing yourself:Why you should stop comparing yourself to other teachers and homeschool parentsHow comparing yourself leads to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteemHow you can reframe your mindset can help combat the comparison trap. The urge to compare ourselves to others is a natural survival mechanism, but it doesn't necessarily benefit our self-esteem or well-beingHow social media amplifies the tendency to compare ourselvesThe importance of focusing on your own strengths and achievements instead of comparing yourself to othersAttend the Wife Teacher Mommy Mindset MasterclassJoin Wife Teacher Mommy Club. From the moment I met Damla, she exuded a real calming energy. And that's exactly what she does. She work to create calm, peace and healing though energetic work including inner child exploration, journaling and crystal connecting. In our interview we touch on many ways to heal and connect with our souls, exploring the idea that our wounds are not here to make our lives painful, but rather to show us our light, to lead us directly to our highest and truest potential. In the episode we get into: Getting beyond living through out minds and bodiesTapping into our energetic beingHow crisis can be a calling to guide us to exactly where we need to healHow to be proactive in our energetic wellness rather than waiting for rock bottomsOur inner child an energetic being to connect withPast life and ancestral patterns and wounds and how to heal themHow our wounds manifest in the body Why it's important to first connect with your inner child before getting into healing Why our wounds are our gifts and our entrypoint into our true potentialHow our children are specially designed to heal us rather than us healing themWhy it's so important we each need to have the dignity and growth opportunity to heal our own woundsJournaling as a spiritual practice and a connection to your soul Connecting with crystals in your healing practiceI had always worked under the assumption that healing is a practice or a way to get rid of trauma or pain. This interview really opened me up to the concept of full acceptance of ourselves and the understanding that it ALL is showing us our light. What a magical and revolutionary lens through which to view life. Don't look at it purely and simply as receiving the teaching, but also keep a journal of your responses to the teachings, to the stories. And when something touches your heart, write that down. And write down what it was and what it made you think because sometimes those momentary realizations are like a lightning bolt in a dark sky, and for one minute everything is clear.
