EDINBURGH FRINGE LISTINGS INFORMATION:Katie Norris: Farm FataleVenue: Pleasance Courtyard, BelowDate & Time: 31st July – 25th August (excluding 14th), 20:30Duration: 60 minsInstagram: @katienorris26Katie's agent says...This year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe will see award winning comedian Katie Norris make her solo debut following success with her first foray into solo stand-up comedy. As part of the critically acclaimed double act, Norris & Parker, Katie gathered a cult-like following and has been featured in top comedy picks from The Guardian, Evening Standard and The Independent. Now Katie has dipped her toe in the stand-up comedy waters for the first time and she will be doing the full festival run with her debut show, ‘Farm Fatale'. Directed by Elf Lyons and original music composed by Chris Thomsonand Huge Davies.Straight from farm to stage, agricultural icon Katie explores the most challenging period of her life – when her cat Atticus went missing only to be found, unofficially adopted and well looked after by a woman who worked in marketing. She'll also touch on the grief of losing a parent and splitting from her partner – but mainly the loss of her twin flame and familiar, Atticus. Katie will also explore the classic stereotypes that are forced on women, the challenges of dating as a mid-thirties woman (and comedian) in London and ageing in comparison to her Gen Z flatmate, expertly weaving in a sax solo and some show-stopping songs along the way.As well as enjoying sold out Fringe runs and receiving critical acclaim as part of Norris & Parker, Katie was also a semi-finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards 2023 and won the Musical Comedy Awards 2023. She can also be heard on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, Newsjack and DMs are Open. Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Caroline E. King is the founder of Vocal Assets which is a speaking company based in Somerset, UK, focusing on you being able to show up as your best you and being able to communicate that with style, resonance and gravitas. In this episode we talk about how to use the natural sound of your voice, but to enhance it in a way which makes it pleasant to listen to and which carries its message perhaps more powerfully. Caroline sang with The London Philharmonic Choir which gave her the opportunity to sing in some of the best concert halls in the world like The Festival Hall and The Royal Albert Hall in London. One of her fondest memories was recording Mahler's Eighth Symphony under the baton of Klaus Tennstedt which received the Grammy Award for The Best Choral Performance in the 30th Grammy Awards in 1988. Caroline was the Principal of 6 Stagecoach Performing Arts Schools for 14 years, turning over £500,000 per annum. Many students have gone on into the profession like Katie Norris who is an up and coming comedian and has supported the likes of Hal Cruttenden on his recent tour. About Vocal Assets Caroline focuses on helping you rediscover your voice so that it resonates deeply with everyone you meet and has them hanging on wanting to hear more. She guides you in how to use the full range of your “leadership instrument”, your resonant natural voice, without stress, so that you are consistently heard and valued more highly. Transferring that voice to the “stage” (offline and online) is more tricky without sounding shouty, hard-edged or strained. She helps you to connect and command presence and impact by speaking from a more natural, authentic and powerful vocal resonance that doesn't need to be ‘switched on' or projected with overpowering force. This episode starts and ends with me catching up [gushing] with you about how I've been feeling lately and sharing some things I've been too nervous to share on the podcast before. I talk about saying yes to too much, buckets of life, my general feeling of overwhelm as well as sharing what I've been loving and grateful for in the last month. This week I interviewed the smart, genuine, and fascinating entrepreneur Karen Behnke founder of my favorite make-up brand Juice Beauty. I'm obsessed with their products so I'm real happy I loved Karen their founder just as much. She honestly was one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people I've ever interviewed for this podcast. In this episode we talk about how we're both from Michigan, wellness in the 80’s, being vegetarian, being an entrepreneur, why green apples are great for your skin and how much we both love eating them with cinnamon on them, using food for beauty, finding your passions and turning that into a profession, motherhood, body-image, the sexism she's experienced in her career, what working with Gwyneth Paltrow is like and so much more. This is a very robust episode, hope you like it all!
