We discuss everything from possible motivations, to an extremely different version of events provided in a police report, which version is true? We'll let you be the judge. Alanna closes out the episode with the history of Craig Price, a truly terrifying teenager that commits multiple murders that all fall under the definition of overkill. Jesse Pomeroy is the United States youngest serial killer, at only 11-years-old. Jasmine Richardson brutally murdered her entire family at only 12-years-old after being groomed by her 23-year-old boyfriend. Two very different circumstances, but both children who committed multiple murders. In the US each year, there are more than 300 cases of a child killing their parent or parents.  This means it happens around six times per week! In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast we discuss five horrific cases: Karly Cantrell was a member of True Crime Society on Facebook.  Her oldest son Levi was having some issues recently and she asked him to move out due to his ‘poor behavior'.  On October 10, Levi returned to his mother's home and brutally murdered her. Texas teen Tyler Roenz (17) had been in trouble recently.  He had been charged in April with sexually assaulting another teen.  On October 13, 2022, police asked people to be on the lookout for Tyler and his mother Michelle.  There was a police chase and Michelle's body was found in the trunk of the vehicle that Tyler was driving.  He has been charged with her murder. In July this year, Logan Lopez (24) asked his mother Mary Beth to bring some mail to his apartment.  When she arrived, he brutally bashed her to death with a hammer.  Police have said he planned the murder for over a year. Mauri Belarmino (40) wrote a lovely Facebook post for her mother in July 2022.  She wrote that her mother was great and amazing and that she had taught Mauri how to be a better citizen.  But in September 2022, Mauri snapped and strangled her 74 y/o mother to death. Hend Bustami (28) called 911 on October 26, 2022.  She told the dispatcher, “I think I killed my mommy. “I broke the table on her head. I broke the table on her head and I cut her neck off.”   Hend's mother Afaf was found dead in the home they shared.    Hend had been previously arrested this year and claimed it was because police had never seen anyone as good looking as her. We also discuss the huge updates in the case of murdered teens Liberty German and Abigail Williams from Delphi, Indiana.  Seemingly out of the blue, on October 26, a Delphi local named Richard Allen was arrested and charged with the girls' murders.  Richard does not seem to have been on anyone's radar in regards to this case and the news is shocking. If you would like to get straight to the crime content, please skip to the 9 minute mark.  The Delphi update starts at 51.07. You can read our blogs for these cases: https://truecrimesocietyblog.com/2022/10/28/breaking-news-there-has-been-an-arrest-in-the-delphi-murder-case/ https://truecrimesocietyblog.com/2022/11/07/kids-who-kill/ This episode is sponsored by: June's Journey -There is a detective in all of us!  Available on Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as on PC through Facebook Games. A young body found dead, without a single mark or sign of struggle on it. Strangled animals appearing mysteriously in yards. Playtimes that turn from harmless to violent in the blink of an eye.   Nature lays the foundation. But nurturing—or worse, lack of it—builds the rest of the person. And when children are denied affection, stability, consistency, love, and care, psychopathy can assemble itself…with devastating results. Team Kimberly and Team Edward yank open the history books and the DSM-V for a glimpse into the real-life consequences of bringing innocent lives into unstable families. Kimberly leads with the shocking case of Mary Flora Bell, a British schoolgirl with a strangulation fascination. Edward counters with Carroll “Eddie” Cole, a predator whose hunting started in grade school and never stopped. Master of Special Education and proud dad of non-psychopaths (so far anyway) Jared Loper declares only on of these tales “the winner.”Support the show

On a sweltering August night in Alabama in 1999, neighbors of the Liz and Deroy Nalls heard the desperate cries of the couple's 10-year-old granddaughter Mary. They discovered the child bleeding profusely as she stumbled down the dark road towards their home. The Nalls' house was ablaze and Grandma Liz sat critically injured on a lawn chair underneath a tree in her front yard. As firefighters fought the flames, they discovered the tortured remains of two more Nalls' family members. However, one person was unaccounted for that night: Mary's 14-year-old sister, Ashley Jones. We hear almost daily about mothers and fathers killing their children, sometimes their entire family.  You would absolutely be familiar with Scott Peterson, Susan Smith and Chris Watts. What you hear less often is when children plot and scheme and murder their families. The term for this is either familicide if many family members are killed, or parricide if only parents are killed. Today on the the True Crime Society Podcast we discuss three cases of ‘Kids Who Kill'. -In 2015 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Robert and Michael Bever who were 18 and 16 at the time, went on a murderous rampage using knives and hatchets. They managed to murder their parents and three of their siblings before they were stopped by police.  The brothers had planned to go on a cross-country killing spree, hoping to kill over 100 people.  Thankfully, two Bever children survived and a lot of the testimony that was given helped to put Robert and Michael behind bars for good. - Christopher Porco was in trouble in 2004.  He had forged his father's signature on financial documents and had obtained fraudulent loans.  His parents were not happy and frequently told him so.  In November that year, Christopher drove from his dorm to the family home, where he attacked his parents with an axe. His father Peter Porco sustained 16 major axe wounds to his face and head including penetration to his brain and part of his jaw ‘ fell' off following the attack.  Despite all this, Peter managed to get out of bed and go about his daily morning routine before dying.  He spent some time in the bathroom and at the sink, he loaded the dishwasher, packed his lunch for the day and wrote a check.  He finally collapsed and died at the front door.  Joan initially told police that Christopher was the attacker but then recanted. - The Van Breda family lived an affluent, high-flying life in South Africa.  Martin and Teresa were very successful and were raising three children Rudi, Henri and Marli. One night, an intruder allegedly broke into their mansion in a secure, gated community, murdering three members of the family with an axe.  Henri survived with minor injuries and Marli spent months in hospital recovering. Except it turns out, there was no intruder.  Henri had an alleged methamphetamine addiction and his allowance had been cut off by his parents, so he killed them. We have detailed blogs for all three cases, including crime scene photos, at TrueCrimeSocietyBlog.com You can listen on Spotify here - https://open.spotify.com/episode/1Jt0K05oS2zHL6TrdBP1sm?si=-Bn926_yQUiGt1IkKoqJfg And Apple here - https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/true-crime-society/id1504300714 Thank you to our sponsor BetterHelp! In the 3rd installment of the Kids Who Kill series, Erica and Billy delve into the story of one of the youngest multiple murderers in U.S. history, committing 4 vicious murders by age 15. But as a juvenile, the courts' hands were tied and he got just 5 years in juvenile detention. But good old Craig just doesn't know when to shut the fuck up and keep his hands...and teeth...and shanks...to himself. Boy, if Erica and Billy had a nickel for every time someone got bitten or stabbed in this episode? Well, let's just say it would be enough to put into a tube sock and turn it into a deadly clubbing weapon. If you're ready for a slasher, then dive in! On this week’s Past Present podcast, Nicole Hemmer, Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, and Neil Young discuss Bernie Sanders and the history of socialism in America, Fitbit, and why adults are now celebrating Halloween.  Here are some links and references mentioned during this week’s show:  Bernie Sanders’ bid for the Democratic Party’s nomination has raised the old question, “Why is there no socialism in America?” That question served as the title of Werner Sombart’s 1906 classic. Natalia mentioned the historian Eric Foner’s advice that Sanders should use moral language to defend socialism as Eugene Debs did in the early 20th century. Natalia also noted that Larry David’s portrayal of Sanders on Saturday Night Live could make the senator’s Jewishness more well-known among American voters. Some Wall Street banks have ordered Fitbit activity trackers for their employees, a decision they explained for improving workers’ health. But many see dangerous possibilities when companies track their employees’ personal lives. Niki recommended Sarah Igo’s book, The Averaged American, for thinking more about the history of data in Americans’ lives. Natalia noted the recent book The Wellness Syndrome discusses how Americans’ obsession with health and fitness may be becoming an unhealthy obsession. Natalia, our fitness history expert, has written about wellness culture in America for the Huffington Post.Once a holiday for children, Halloween has become a popular event for many American adults in part because of the dangers associated with it for children. Steven Mintz’s Huck’s Raft and Paula Fass’ Kidnapped were recommended as two books that historicize American fears about child welfare and safety. In our regular closing feature, What’s Making History: Natalia recommended Michelle Miller’s The Underwriting as a page-turning thriller about a Silicon Valley dating website’s IPO. Natalia noted the novel had originally been published online in downloadable installments, harkening back the older publishing traditional of serializing literature.Neil commented on the discovery that Mike Huckabee’s 1998 book Kids Who Kill was found to have contained numerous false and misattributed historical quotations from figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. Neil presented this as another cautionary tale in how politicians use and misuse history for their political advantage.  Niki discussed the Slate article, “French Tadpoles and Persian Pickles,” an excerpt from Jude Stewart’s book, Patternalia. The article presented a fascinating history of paisley, but Niki noted it also demonstrated how the history of a pattern was also a way of understanding the history of society and culture.
