Which brings us full circle to “Operation Metro Surge.”OMS is the muy macho PR slogan for the Republican Party's militaristic invasions of Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and other American cities they hate. Deploying ICE and other bastions of authoritarian power, thousands of massively armed federal belligerents in full assault gear have been rampaging through peaceful neighborhoods in violent and murderous mass sweeps.This is an un-American attack by America's own government on America's founding ideals of liberty and openness. The defining symbol of this government repression is that its forces are all hiding behind full-face masks.Of course, if I was doing some of the stuff ICE commandos are doing, I'd want to cover my face, too. But, like the Klan, masking up the oppressors is not merely about cloaking their personal shame — it's an added ploy by the perpetrators to terrify anyone who might dare to stand up to them.As usual, though, the authoritarian powers misunderstood America and underestimated the deeply rebellious nature of our gutsy, grassroots people. Some 30,000 volunteers in Minneapolis, for example, have become trained “constitutional observers” to police the police, and a citywide “whistle brigade” rushes like Paul Revere to alert neighbors when ICE agents invade their neighborhoods.Their ethic of neighbors-helping-neighbors recognizes their power to “do what's right.” It's the best of America standing up to confront the worst.Do something!Our friends at the Working Families Party are leading the charge to pressure Democrats to vote NO on any DHS bill that does not work to stop ICE's reckless attacks. Wayne Bellafonte Jr., 33, will be sentenced this week after being convicted last year for the double murder of Mark Andre Ebanks, 36, and Eldon Charles Watson, 55, outside the Globe Bar in George Town on July 1, 2021. - Masked Men with Knives Invade Bodden Town Home; Police Seek Witnesses Around 12:30 PM on Friday, police responded to an aggravated burglary near North Sound Estates, Bodden Town. The victim encountered two masked men with knives and fled, striking one suspect with their vehicle. The suspects, described as slim, dark-complexioned, and around 5'9", ran south down Leeward Drive. Police are seeking witnesses and information. - New Road Extension to Ease Traffic for Eastern Districts by Mid-Year the Infrastructure Ministry is extending Rex Crighton Blvd by a mile to connect Shamrock Road and Agricola Drive, allowing eastern district drivers to bypass Savannah Meadows. Kanesha Gaines, 21, was killed and eight other women were wounded when someone opened fire in the city's North Lawndale neighborhood early Sunday morning. Kanesha was a funny everything. She was outgoing. She was the queen of the world," Graham said. The shooting happened in the 1500 block of South Keeler Avenue just before 1 a.m. Police said as Gaines and a group of women, gathered there for a luau party, enjoyed the Hawaiian-themed birthday celebration, a black Jeep approached. Without warning, multiple unknown suspects, armed with guns, got out and started shooting at the women. The victims were all shot and wounded and range in age from 20 to 33 years old. Gaines was shot in the face and later died. A 28-year-old woman who was struck eight times remains hospitalized in critical condition. Relatives said Gaines was a home healthcare worker and part-time stylist. She leaves behind a 3-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.  Area 4 Detectives are investigating and sifting through evidence as we work to identify and apprehend the people responsible. Welcome back to the Miss Amanda Chen show podcast, I know it's been a while, but here I am. Today's episode I am reflecting on the 100 Masked Men Series, where I anonymously interviewed a hundred random men from all walks of life to understand and better my own relationship with men. And listening back to this last season, wow. Things have really changed not because I selected 25 better men, but because I became better.  This last season was about making the active choice to change our relationships. Check out this summary on the definition of masculinity and gender roles, relationships with fathers, women and sex, and the undervaluing of platonic friendships.  It was really tough to listen back to these conversations, but as I listened and heard the encouraging words from these men I realized I had at least two men in my life, every week, encouraging me and supporting me for going on this journey. Thanking me for giving them this time to talk and allowing them the space to share things that they never even thought about before. And that was enough to keep me going.
