In conversation with Jo Piazza Acclaimed for her ''knack for writing beautiful stories that speak to the anxiety of forging a new road for oneself'' (Bustle), Rebecca Serle is the New York Times bestselling author of One Italian Summer, In Five Years, The Dinner List, and the young adult novels The Edge of Falling and When You Were Mine. Serle also adapted her YA book series Famous in Love into a hit television series of the same name and her book When You Were Mine was the basis of the 2022 film Rosaline. A tale of romantic aspiration and exasperation, Expiration Dates is a novel in which for each potential partner she meets, a woman magically receives a slip of paper that lists his name and the amount of time that they will be together. Jo Piazza is the international bestselling author of twelve books, including the Good Morning America Book Club pick We Are Not Like Them with Christine Pride. She's also the host of the critically acclaimed Under the Influence podcast. Her work has been featured in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among other publications. What if every time you met a man, you would know how long you would spend with him? That's the premise of Rebecca Serle's new book "Expiration Dates." Our host Whitney Clark got a chance to talk to Serle about her latest project and the story of Daphne Bell. In this podcast episode, Whitney and Rebecca dive into faith versus free will, the significance of female relationships and how they change throughout your 30's, and Rebecca's secrets to a successful book club! Serle is known for incorporating magical realism into her stories and "Expiration Dates" is no different. She's a New York Times best selling author who also wrote "One Italian Summer" and "In Five Years."
On this episode of Complicated Conversations we welcome back Rebecca Serle, New York Times bestselling author of One Italian Summer and In Five Years, to discuss her new novel, Expiration Dates, a story about the search for love and finding yourself in the process. This is our third time chatting with Rebecca and every time our minds are blown by what we take away about the interplay between fate vs free will and life's big questions. We discuss the scene that moved Rebecca to tears when writing it and what it taught her about not abandoning herself; the radical act of putting yourself first; magical realism as a natural extension of external things occurring in life; the energetic footprint of love; the mantra that she tells herself about the Universe; and how the “twists” in her novels tell her what the story is really About. Rebecca told us, of her writing, that she just wants “to make people feel.” Mission accomplished! Expiration Dates is out now. Buy it, read it, share it, and listen to our spoiler-free chat wherever you get your podcasts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dr Amy T. Matthews is an award-winning author, an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at Flinders University, and the co-host of the podcasts Word Docs and Love on Campus. Her most recent release, Someone Else's Bucket List, a P.S. I Love You for the digital age, is about an outgoing social media influencer who leaves crippling medical debt behind after her tragically young death from leukemia, and her final wish is for her introverted younger sister to take over her accounts and complete her bucket list while her millions of fans follow along. Perfect for fans of Josie Silver and Rebecca Serle, Amy T. Matthews' wryly funny, bittersweet new novel puts a uniquely poignant, achingly uplifting twist on life after loss, dreams that can come true—and how a strong sister bond can be timeless. Amy also writes under the pen name Amy Barry and has had huge success with her western romances. She also previously wrote historical romances under the name Tess LeSue. Amy lives in Adelaide with a collection of beloved people both real and imagined, and in this episode she chats to guest host Rachael Johns about her new release, writing process and her love of the romance genre. Grab a cuppa, pop on your headphones and enjoy this chat between two best selling romance authors. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve long afternoons at the library and then reading late into the night. More than ten years ago, she began journaling about the books she read and turned that passion into writing about books. Her first forays were as a guest reviewer on a friend's blog, but she soon realized she wanted to be reviewing and talking about books on a blog of her own. From there, Novel Visits was born. That was in 2016 and, though the learning curve was steep, she loves being a part of the book community. Novel Visits focuses on new novel reviews (print and audio), previews of upcoming releases, and musings on all things bookish.
In this episode I am in conversation with best-selling author Rebecca Serle. I've known Rebecca for a long time and it's been a true pleasure watching the world fall in love with her and her writing over the last few years. Rebecca has a new book out called One Italian Summer which follows the relationship of a young woman to her late mother during a magical summer in Italy. I listened to it on audiobook and loved listening to Lauren Graham's performance of Rebecca's beautiful words. Be sure to grab a copy at your local bookstore and let me know what you think! As always, you can follow me on Instagram or learn more about nocrumbsleft at my website.
