Send us a Text Message. There's been a push over the last few years to pull away from "hot mess mom" culture, because moms don't have to be sacrificing themselves and showing up disheveled and drained to be considered "good enough." And I'm 100% on board with that. I am a huge proponent of moms prioritizing and taking care of themselves, and completely do not support messages that say otherwise. But here's the thing, I've always been a "hot mess," and becoming mother definitely did not make that less true. If anything, having kids has made getting my sh*t together even more of a challenge. And so here and now, I'm reclaiming the title "hot mess," because showing up as a bit of a mess does not mean I'm not caring for myself. And if you feel the same about yourself, this episode is for you!If you found this episode valuable, share it with other moms in your life. In this episode, we discuss how to identify negative roots in our hearts that hold us back from our destiny in Christ and how to uproot them. We also discuss how to say "YES" to God and step out into your God-given purpose and dreams.
You get to choose to drop the hot mess mom vibe and show up as the mom you want to be. I share an experience in this episode that really brought me back to the days that I used to struggle showing up as the mom I knew I could be. I was overwhelmed, frazzled all the time, and falling victim to the belief that it was how it was supposed to be. I promise you that motherhood doesn't have to be hard all the time. It's not always a walk in the park with sunshine and skittles, but it doesn't have to feel bad. You need to expand your capacity to hold more of your kids big emotions and handle what life throws at you. I'm talking all about it in this episode so that you can also see where you may be struggling and how you can take back your power and show up how YOU CHOOSE. I'm a mentor for ambitious moms and I love supporting you on your journey in this space and through my breathwork and coaching practices! On today's episode of To The Core, Gina is talking about the whole "I'm his better half" cliche! Social media & televsion play such a huge role in what we are learning and how we are learning. Statistics show a HUGE incline in how society as a whole labels men as , lazy, over worked, dumb dad's who are inept and incapable of taking care of their children or themselves for that matter. Not to mention, the hot mess mom fad! Do you think the hot mess mom culture is something to aspire to or find entertaining? Hopefully not! A hot mess mom is defined as a relatable mom who is a total mess and her life is spiraling. Her mind feels totally frazzled and out of control. Where do we find the humour in this? How is this entertaining to watch? We need to go back to the days where we all had roles and capabilities that were appreciated by the other half and looked at for what it is, doing our best and supporting each other while doing it. This NEEDS to change ladies!! Join the Revitalized Sisterhood Connect with Gina Trimmer on Instagram Join the Free Revitalized Womanhood Facebook Community
Do you ever feel like you're drowning in the chaos of motherhood while trying to keep up with your own health and wellness? I'm Rebecca, a 40-year-old working mom of two, and I've been there too. In this episode, I open up about my struggles with weight, acne, and feeling overwhelmed, and how I've learned to take control of my health by making small, consistent changes and becoming my own advocate. We'll discuss the importance of setting a healthy example for our kids and how reaching out to friends and family for support can make a world of difference. I hope that by sharing my journey from hiding in my closet with snackwells cookies and diet pills, to feeling more confident and in control of my health today, I can inspire you to take that first step towards making a change in your own life. So join me and let's tackle this hot mess mom health journey together!
Hey everyone! For Braving the Mountain this week I wanted to talk about dropping the hot mess mom vibe and creating a life you love! Something I've found out about the hot mess mom vibe is that it basically is just viewing your circumstances in a negative light. Thinking things like my kid will never go to bed, or I won't be able to shower until at least noon today, are all things that allow you to feel sorry for yourself and you end up getting stuck in this negative and bad mindset. But a big part of changing that is doing things for yourself. I've found that if I am happy and living the way I want to live, it's easier for me to take care of my kids. Breathwork is also something that has helped me release a lot of that stress. If you need to know where to start or feel lost, send me a DM on Instagram @amandaclarkstudios! Let's chat and figure it out together! Go brave your mountain!
True story: for the first 7 years of my motherhood, I was the definition of a hot mess. I had a bun on top of my head, no makeup or bra, was mortified to be seen in public, and just lived in sweats. While none of the above is necessarily “wrong,” I didn't feel good most days. However, I fully accepted that that's what motherhood looked like. In this episode, I'm going to tell you when and how my mind shifted, and how it has made all the difference for me!

So many of us are quick to label ourselves a hot mess mom. It's easy to feel like we don't have it all together. But I'm challenging you today to consider the alternative. What exactly does a mom look like who isn't a hot mess? What is this opposite, ideal version of motherhood where you don't act like a thrown together mess? Is this ideal even a reality? Let's dig deep into what we believe about ourselves and if we're not happy with where we are at, what to do about it. The first simple steps to take to get yourself out of feeling like the stereotypical hot mess mom. It's an important topic and one I hope you share with your friends. It's a movement we need to stop. It seems funny and harmless on the surface but can quickly grow deeper roots that lead us to low self esteem, low productivity, and setting up for dealing with a lot of physical and emotional mess. Hot Mess Mom culture has become quite the trend. It perpetuates the idea that if you are a mom, you're automatically a hot mess. It can be silly and funny as we joke about the difficulties of motherhood, but it can also become our identity. In this episode, we talk about how this is not the identity in Christ we are called to take on. The reality is that we are messes without Christ. We talk about how we can't save ourselves, and we need Him to save us. But THAT is our new identity. We are a new creation in Him - and that's what we should be sharing with the world - our identity in Christ - as messed up, but saved mamas. I would love to hear from you! We are all trying our best to be the best mothers we can be, but like many, we have our days when giving 20% is all we can give, and that is ok! Its OK to be a hot mess and not have it all figured out. But having people who are hot messes like you makes this journey called life so much more fun.
Motherhood in the 2020s, or what I have termed “modern motherhood” is a very big job. This is the version of motherhood that you and I are in right now. It's the motherhood with extremely challenging issues like social media, ADD, anxiety, depression, food allergies oh and most recently Covid. The sparks of many issues are out there. And without the right skills, flames ignite. If you don't know how to manage all of this, motherhood will scald and sear. This can all feel very daunting if you don't know how to tame the flames. And these flames are the flames that lead to burnout! Sometimes your level of mom burnout is obvious, but sometimes it just looks like plain emptiness. Like you have nothing left to give. In this episode we go over the three degrees of burnout in modern motherhood: The Hot Mess Mom, The Sometimes Together Mom & The Good on Paper Mom. The good news is that regardless of the degree of your mom burnout, I know how to extinguish the flames. Join me for this foundational episode of Banishing Mom Burnout, as we begin your journey out of the depleting vortex of exhaustion motherhood has become and claim the empowered motherhood you've been dreaming about. In this episode, I'm sharing with you:Why I'm so sick of the phrase “Hot Mess Mom”How this phrase tends to get thrown aroundHow using this language to describe yourself and your life is affecting youWhat are you comparing yourself to?Our default assumptionsA belief that many women have come to believe over timeDeep-seated beliefs that we don't always recognize and don't benefit usMassively high expectationsWhatever your self-concept is, is how you show up in the worldProving yourself rightHow do you want to show up?Who do you want to be in this new year?We get to write the rules and create our own expectations. If you'd like to work on this further, be sure to reach out and book a Clarity Call with me hereYou can listen to this podcast on any platform or app you listen to podcasts, just search The Dream Builder Society! 96. There's this thing in motherhood that's become socially acceptable… Not just socially acceptable, but the “norm” actually. Hot mess mom culture. We speak it, we embrace, we live it and we create more of it. Yep, I said it. We create more of it… We say things like “I'm a hot mess. That's just the way it is.” While motherhood CAN be messy… (spit up, throw up, poop explosions anyone?!) It can also be beautiful and… intentional. And it can even be peaceful. It doesn't have to feel like we're riding the hot mess express every hour of every day. The Lord has been speaking to my heart about this lately, so I grabbed the mic and recorded a podcast about debunking the embrace of hot mess mom culture. Not only that, but I'm also sharing practical tips and strategies from my own #MomLife about how I intentionally set myself up for success as a mom in the four most important areas of my life. Get ready for less stress, and more JOY, mama friend! These simple solutions are about to change your life! With Great Joy! Feel Better in Five Minutes: An Empowering Guide to Gain Control Over Your Emotions By Amanda Hainline The Bible of Short, Fast and Proven Energy-Fixes for Whatever Ails You--Depression, Anxiety, Pain, Disconnection, Loss, Trauma, or the Overall Blahs... Amanda Hainline has Assembled the Most Complete and Useful Protocols, Practices and Resources to Release Pent Up Emotion--79 of Them! From suburban mom to a full-blown psychic in 30 seconds! Amanda Hainline called it her path from "Hot Mess Mom to Emotional Freedom." Gripped with depression, anxiety, apathy and overwhelm as a mom raising two kids, she had trouble just getting out the door most days. As it got worse, she followed the advice of a friend to seek an energy healer. Entirely new to energy work, Amanda experienced a deep relaxation on the first visit, but the second visit was life changing-- when all of Amanda's chakras blew open simultaneously as she experienced the kundalini energy rising from the base of her spine up through her head! Flooded with emotions that were trapped for years, that kundalini awakening also triggered an ability to hear and perceive new information from unseen forces that opened Amanda to her own healing techniques. And following them, every day, she felt better than the last. Thus, begins a fascinating journey of how Amanda developed the initial core of healing techniques that transformed her life, continued to experiment on her own as her personal laboratory, and then launched into a 15-year career as a heralded energy healer, who attracts clients from around the globe. The highly effective array of her energy-transforming techniques -- which often take only minutes -- have all been compiled in her new Amazon #1 bestseller, Feel Better in Five Minutes. This comprehensive set of protocols, practices and resources are a roadmap for releasing the emotional pain and trauma, physical ailments, self-judgement and general dissatisfaction with life that plagues so many. In most cases, Amanda offers you a quick version that can provide an instant energy transfusion (Transform in Five) and one that can be done over a longer amount of time to anchor in the transformation (Transform in Ten.) Using case studies with her clients and her own experiences, Hainline shows how these tools upended the trapped energy and lethargy, giving rise to renewal, passion, purpose, joy, health, forward movement, and physical stamina. She starts by providing an in-depth "Feel-Better Assessment" to undertake - a baseline look at what is driving you...and an evaluation that can be used time-and-again to realize your progress, or reveal the next level that needs attention. And then she takes you in to specific practices that unlock the chains binding you emotionally and physically -- using color, focused conversation and visualization with specific organs, breathwork, light balance, candles, salts, oils, crystals and angelic invocation -- each protocol designed to address the specific issues or emotions that are weighing you down. You'll find 79 shortcuts to emotional freedom in this book! There are customized and highly-detailed "Feel-Better Plans" that focus on depression, anger, physical pain, and anxiety as well as detailed information on more than 50 other emotional states. Furthermore, Amanda gives you the tools to create your own protocol to address precisely what keeps you from being your most magnificent self. The level of detail here is the magic! Amanda Hainline has become a world-renowned hands-on healer using the techniques she offers in Feel Better in Five Minutes. She believes everyone should have these tools at hand for a quick pick-up or a life changing transformation.
HOT MESS MOM Culture -- Have you ever referred to yourself as a hot mess? I think most of us have called ourselves a "hot mess express" at some point or another. This phrase isn't anything new. It's actually been around for a couple hundred years. Today I'm giving my opinion and stance on this somewhat controversial term. Here's the deal - regardless of where this finds you, the words you speak to yourself hold power. And research shows that your brain will look for and find evidence of what you look for. This one is going to be good, so pop in your headphones, plug in your phone and let's get started!Take a screenshot as you listen and tag me to let me know your thoughts on "hot mess" mom culture. In this week's episode of Intentionally Human we dive in to the human need for connection and all the things that can get in the way of creating authentic, meaningful bonds with others! We explore the Hot Mess Mom culture and how our brainwaves may determine who we connect with!
On this episode of Tales of a Hot Mess Mom, Tepin is joined by longtime friend and host of Adult-Ish podcast, Afiya A. Valentine's day is approaching, and the ladies are discussing love languages and gifts that may result in humping.
For many of us, it’s easy to fall in love with the ‘hot mess’ mom. The mom who leaves her house in pajamas, has misbehaving kids, and no plans for dinner. We love that. We connect with that! But has this comfortable and relatable role trapped moms in a race to the bottom? Can you deeply connect with your kids if you only see yourself as a ‘hot mess’? In this episode, I discuss society’s perception of the ‘bad mom,’ the ‘perfect mom,’ and how to sit right in the middle for a full and present motherhood. Show highlights include: How the ‘hot mess mom’ set foot in our culture (and why we relate to her so much) (2:14) Why Instagrammers and comedians have turned the ‘perfect mom’ role into a nightmare (6:18) Why you are more comfortable celebrating your losses than your wins—and what this says about the time you spend with your kids (7:39) How combining disaster and perfection helps you raise healthy, happy children (10:39) Come follow along! There are many reasons to consider a person a friend, but are looks one of them? For some, this may actually be the case! In this episode of "Adult-ish," host Afiya tackles the topic of an Insta meme with friend and fellow Aquarian, Jen aka the original Hot Mess Mom. The two HS friends mull over the idea of maintaining friendships due to a physical — and possibly romantic — attraction. Do you hang on to friends because you're attracted to them? Do you often find yourself becoming attracted to your friends? And can you maintain a friendship once you've passed the point of attraction and something else has happened? The duo attempt to tackle all these questions as well as dive into the dating pitfalls that may come up when looking at friends in a new light. With a topic so loaded, don't be surprised if this conversation continues in another episode! How many times have you read an article or seen a YouTube video describing or making fun of a "Perfectionist Mom" or a "Hot Mess Mom", but at the same time you laugh at it and exclaim "OMG that is so me!". Or maybe you take quiz after quiz to find out what type of mom you are, even though you already know you're 100% a "Workout Mom". Identifying your own mom type, or knowing that your friend is mom type A and your mom type B, is something that sort of bonds all of us...because as moms we kind of all do it at one point or another. We're breaking this topic up into two parts since there are quite a few and we don't want to overwhelm you with a super long episode. We enjoy one of my favourite ciders, Tempt 9, talk about our love of Pop Tarts, and give a shout out to LORELAI GILMORE! As Christians, we are called to deny ourselves. But there is a difference between self-denial and self-sacrifice and it is SO important to know the difference between the two. (Especially in this Hot Mess Mom culture we live in) To put it simply: Denying yourself- is actively choosing not to have or do something in order to make room for God’s Kingdom to be grown in and through your life. Sacrificing yourself- is to physically, mentally, or emotionally die off or withhold a basic need that inhibits you from fulfilling God’s purpose in your life. Water Challenge!! This week’s guest is Jennifer Douglas, a mom of two and the creative mind behind Goldfish and Chicken Nuggets (the website and social media accounts, not the foods). After reading Jen’s blog post on The Hot Mess Mom’s Guide to Throwing Your Kid A Solid Birthday Party, I knew she would be a great guest to help break down pro tips for birthday party planning. In our conversation, we talk about when kids should start having birthday parties with friends, how long the parties should last, good locations for a party, what to eat, party gift ideas for guests and much more. I also ask Jen about her time as team captain for UCLA swimming and representing Canada on the National swim team. Isn’t that so cool?

Today, I'm getting as honest and real as I can about the pervasive "hot mess mommy" culture that's swept through motherhood over the last few decades, and giving my thoughts on why we at Mother Like a Boss™ choose to take a very different approach to empowering women. Is it really helping us to be told that motherhood HAS to be a struggle, day- in and day-out? Not that is "can" be a struggle, or "will feel" like a struggle, but that it is absolute and we have no choice in the matter? What if instead, we acknowledged the messy days and messy seasons without creating a culture that perpetuates negativity in motherhood. Moms deserve a life-jacket, not a boat to circle us round and round telling us that drowning in mom life is just something we should have to accept. If you're ready for truth and some real mom empowerment, this is your episode, mama. Want more from this episode?
