SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #263 - Vixen - Season 2 | Recap & Review - Mere weeks following the events of season 1, Mari crashes a lecture by traitorous-yet-apologetic Professor Macalaster who tells her (and a hall full of intellectual types) about the five Zambezi totems earth, fire, air, water, and spirit (sounds like the planeteers) of which they have found one: fire. Mari of course has the spirit totem. He reveals they’ll be keeping it at the Detroit Museum. Cisco calls Mari to help with a situation with Weather Wizard, who has created a number of tsunamis at Monument Point, and Mari gets hurt stopping him. Meanwhile, the fire totem is stolen from the Museum. Mari searches for the thief, and finds Benatu Eshu of Zambezi. Eshu claims that Mari looks just like her mother and then kicks her ass with fancy new fire totem powers! Mari and Macalester go to find her sister Kuasa in an African hospital, and she suggests going with them to find the water totem which just happens to be in Star City. Kuasa of course double-crosses Mari, but is stopped by Mari’s plan B, The Atom and Black Canary. Eshu begins destroying Detroit. Kuasa and Mari with the help of Atom and Black Canary try to stop him. Eshu kills Kuasa, and after he defeats Black Canary and Atom, Mari fights him and drowns him. At Macalaster’s instruction, Mari summons all the strength of her animal spirits to crush the fire totem to destroy its power. At the end, Mari decides to team up with Arrow, Flash, and a number of other heroes as they take on a new, undisclosed threat.

Fight/stunt 3 Battle in the oculus chamber. Lots of firing, heat gun, cold gun etc. Time travel: Thoughts on the tropes and mechanics Nice flashback to start, back to the recruiting scene in 2016 Great to see the team back before all the messing with the timeline Jax - “Something called time travel - the team's in trouble”. Very Bill and Ted showing up in his own past once he's left the room. (Marty! It's your kids!) This timetravel model, there is no free will - only free will at the vanishing point Nothing you can do to change time? Part 2: The Characters Rip Hunter Rate on a scale of 1 (Capt. of the Titanic - Edward John Smith) to 10 (the best - Picard) Freaking out with “NO ONE CONTROLS ME” which breaks him. “You lot guard the entrance”. I'm sorry, but is “you lot” the official way to address the crew. Well, it's either that or walk the plank Argggg! Shrinks Ray to carry him. Vandal Savage “An appointment I have… with Destiny” kinda sounds like an exotic dancer Execution of Rip's family - still murders Miranda and Jonas Time Masters The Reveal of the oculus and the reveal of the master manipulation of the entire crew Ordered Savage to kill Rip's family to motivate him. Super dick move. Guy doing the induction process kinda enjoys it. Love the time ships preparing to jump in the hangar, like the rebel fleet about to attack the death star or the Mass Effect Pelicans getting ready for a combat drop or the Space Marines about to assault the Alien Queen with Ripley The Atom - Ray Palmer Still cares for Kendra - freaked out when she was shot by the prison guards. Continues the theme of believing in the face of adversity Interesting bonding with Mick & how he survived not being turned into Chronos “All I wanted to do was make a difference.” Keeps working even though that's how he dies. White Canary - Sara Lance And she's a badass pilot. “Punch it Gideon” “Want to steal a kiss from me… you better be one hell of a thief”. Dammit, I really wanted these two to get together. - then the final kiss just kills me. Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders Kinda loses it when she realizes Savage is going to kill Rip's family. That was the whole point of the mission… well, that and saving the earth from Savage's destruction and reign. They arguably failed at all of that and made it worse. No barista reference. Hawkman - Carter Hall In stasis - not in this episode Captain Cold - Leonard Snart I freakin' love Snart in the past Dammit - I want an entire show of just Sara and Snart “There are no strings on me” Frickin beautiful line. He was a hero. Heatwave - Mick Rory Soliloquy when faced with becoming Chronos again - “I focused on vengeance. I focused on how much I hated all of you” “Oh yeah, that's good… break my arms” - Mick has the best lines “For a time master, you sure waste a lot of it” Executes the a**-hole time master “Get me out of this stupid robot suit” “If you tell the team I actually care, I'll shave your head” - focused on the team Firestorm - Professor Martin Stein Arrogant interaction with Jax in the past Nice speech to Jax about something having gone right on the mission re: Jefferson maturing and he being less of an asshat. Firestorm - Jefferson Jackson “It's the best decision I never made.” re: being roofied and going on the mission. Waverider/Gideon Calls on the ye olde fashioned phone - uploaded into the latency core. Love the firing effects on the vanishing point EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS: Season 1 Episode 15 “Destiny” (Date: 12 May 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/05/13/legends-of-tomorrow-things-you-might-have-missed-in-destiny/ Thanagar: Legends of Tomorrow made Thanagarians - DC's alien hawkman species and home to Nth Metal with strong ties to Hawkgirl and Hawkman, this just became cannon for the DC TV Universe. Lots of comic references and lore, and on the cartoon Justice League Unlimited Smugglers Hatch: Pretty obvious reference to Star Wars and the Millennium Falcon Time Sphere: When Jax heads back to 2016, we get a look at he and Martin working on the Time Sphere that was broken in the season finale of The Flash last year. In the comics, the Time Sphere (also sometimes called a Time Bubble) was the primary means of time-travel used by Rip Hunter, Time Master...as well as Booster Gold, The Legion of Super-Heroes, and other characters. “I'll shave your head”: The threat Mick uses against Ray -- that he'll "shave your head" -- is presumably a nod to the fact that all season long, he's referred to Ray as "haircut.". “No strings on me”: Iconic Pinocchio line, used by Ultron in the second avengers movie Tabula Rasa: While "Tabula rasa" has a broader cultural meaning outside of DC Comics, meaning "blank slate," as explained by Ray… it's worth noting that there are two major DC Comics uses of the phrase: one is a Batman story in which he is forced to work with Bane -- and the other is an organization in the Wildstorm universe whose actual name is Tabula Rasa. Darhk begins taking control over the world's nuclear missles. The team seeks out Felicity's father, Noah, to help disable the "Rubicon" program. Darhk sends Danny Brickwell and Michael Amar to find and kill Noah, but Oliver and his team are able to rescue him from Darhk's men. Noah agrees to help, but requires a high-powered processor from Palmer Tech. Felicity learns she has been fired as CEO and is unable to get the processor, forcing the team to break in and steal it. H.I.V.E. locates the team when Noah hacks into "Rubicon". As H.I.V.E. attacks, Felicity and her father shut down "Rubicon" and stop all missiles but one, which launches and heads to Monument Point. Felicity can only redirect it to a less populated town, where it detonates. Oliver and Diggle find Darhk in a nexus chamber, gathering more power from all the deaths caused by the explosion. In flashbacks, Reiter escapes the caves, but Oliver and Taiana steal the idol again. The idol soon begins to affect Taiana.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN # 176 - Arrow 4x21 – Monument Point | Review - HIVE is hacking the world’s nuclear missiles, and it’s up to Felicity and her dad The Calculator to keep them at bay! Unfortunately, they need a quantum processor or some such non-sense ... which Felicity has at palmer-tech ... except she gets fired and escorted out of the building for being a shitty CEO. So she and her dad have to break in with Oliver, use a ridiculously well-placed electromagnet thing to get the processor, and clone the device before security shows up. And when they get back to the bunker, they succeed in stopping every missile… but one. Rather than let the nuke take out a couple of million people, Felicity hacks and directs it to a smaller location, choosing to kill tens of thousands of people instead. Ouch. Meanwhile Thea deals with Malcolm and Anarky (who seemingly kills Alex), and in the flashbacks, Oliver takes on Reiter some more.Follow DC on SCREEN on Twitter @DConSCREENFollow DC on SCREEN on FacebookE-mail us at DConSCREEN@gmail.com

When you want to see everything that's going on around you, climb up to "Monument Point". Then you may see Damien Darhk trying to use Rubicon to launch Russian missiles and destroy the Earth to start anew. And you'd see our heroes using everything at their disposal to try to stop him. That includes Felicity's hacker father, Noah Kuttler (aka The Calculator). Darhk is well aware of Kuttler's abilities and sends Brick and Murmur to kill him before he causes any trouble. Our heroes rescue him, but they have limited time to stop the nukes from killing everyone. Thea tries to stop Lonnie Machin (aka Anarky) from destroying the safety dome that Hive has set up to take care of the survivors of the nuclear holocaust. She just needs to get him to focus on Darhk instead. Jay and Josh try to fit in with a criminal, an IT girl, and 2 guys in Halloween costumes, on this week's Green Justice: An Arrow Podcast. Listen in and justice will be served...to your MP3 player!

VOTE![poll id="172"] VOTE Maus II Spiegelman’s Maus, A Survivor’s Tale (Pantheon, 1987) was a breakthrough, a comic book that gained widespread mainstream attention. The primary story of that book and of this sequel is the experience of Spiegelman’s father, Vladek, a Polish Jew who survived the concentration camps of Nazi Germany during World War II. This story is framed by Spiegelman’s getting the story from Vladek, which is in turn framed by Spiegelman’s working on the book after his father’s death and suffering the attendant anxiety and guilt, the ambivalence over the success of the first volume, and the difficulties of his “funny-animal” metaphor. (In both books, he draws the char acters as anthropomorphic animals– Jews are mice, Poles pigs, Germans cats, Americans dogs, and French frogs.) The interconnections and complex characterizations are engrossing, as are the vivid personal accounts of living in the camps. Maus and Maus . . .
