Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcaster Russ Williams, Actor TJ Ramini and Matt Hayes as Nathan Ake's late goal gave Manchester City their first victory in six visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a place in the FA Cup fifth round. City looked likely to have to settle a replay after missing a succession of chances before Ake scored their first goal at this stadium after five successive defeats with two minutes left as Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario failed to hold Kevin de Bruyne's corner under pressure from Ruben Dias. It was a bitter blow to Spurs after a defiant rearguard action but just reward for City, who had been the better side only to miss the opportunities that had come their way before Ake bundled home from close range. Spurs barely registered an attack threat, while City had an early Oscar Bobb strike ruled out for offside, Vicario also saving well from Bernardo Silva. De Bruyne was uncharacteristically wasteful with a golden opportunity after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had gifted possession to Phil Foden. In a dramatic finale, with a replay looking certain, Ake struck to spark wild scenes of celebration among the 9,000 City fans who had made the journey to north London. Nathan Ake is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast. The Dutch international joined the Club in 2020 from Bournemouth and, over the following three years, has become a key figure in Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side. His versatility, consistency and intelligence have been of immense value to a City side consistently challenging on multiple fronts, with Ake often called upon to play in a number of defensive roles. It hasn't always been smooth sailing for the Dutch international though, and he discusses the important words of encouragement he received from Pep Guardiola after an injury-hit first season at the Etihad in 2020/21. The defender has more than repaid the manager's faith during his time at the Club and played the full 90 minutes in our historic Champions League triumph over Inter in June. Unsurprisingly, the podcast also involves plenty of discussions around that momentous occasion, including the preparations for the game and the celebrations that followed! Finally, Ake also reveals which former City player comes out on top as his toughest opponent to date. It's an episode not to be missed!
Hey podcast fam! We hebben weer een knaller van een episode voor je klaarstaan. Deze keer verwelkomen we niemand minder dan de getalenteerde aanvaller, Sam van de Kreeke!
Arsenal defeats Manchester City 1-0 thanks to a captain deflecto header by Nathan Ake, Chelsea's attacking form continues, Scott McTominay saves Manchester United in Fergie Time, Alexis Mac Allister continues to play defensive midfielder for Liverpool and Eden Hazard retires. It might be an international break but there's plenty to talk about.
Micah Richards and Theo Walcott joined Dave Jones on Super Sunday, and they watched Arsenal secure a late win against treble-winners Manchester City at a euphoric Emirates stadium. Substitute Gabriel Martinelli provided the pivotal moment, albeit via a crucial deflection off Nathan Ake. It sparked familiar jubilant scenes in the stands as the Gunners finally beat their rivals after losing the last twelve Premier League fixtures against the Citizens. Richards felt Arsenal were not at their best but said their performance was more intelligent than previous approaches to this fixture and highlighted the performance of William Saliba, who he described as ‘outstanding'. Theo Walcott singled out Declan Rice's performance in midfield and believes he has taken the Gunners to another level.Gary Neville joined the studio from the commentary gantry and questioned if Manchester City are struggling with a ‘treble hangover', as they have now lost the last three domestic fixtures in a row after achieving ‘eutopia' last season. There is also reaction from both dressing rooms with match-winner Martinelli and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, who feels the win means more than three points. Bernardo Silva conceded that the result was a setback for City, but said it is still very early in the season. Both managers also gave their post-match views, with Mikel Arteta praising the courage of his players, while Pep Guardiola said that he is not concerned about their recent run of domestic defeats.

David Mooney is joined by City fan Richard Burns and the Manchester City Fan Brands Editor at Reach, Dom Farrell, to reflect on the (fortuitous?) win at Arsenal and what was surely a textbook usage of the VAR. We look at some of the best recent goal-line clearances, after Nathan Ake's heroics - plus Dan Hunt from the Loathed Strangers Podcast joins us to preview the FA Cup tie with Swindon. Dan Burke takes a look at three key players City and Swindon have in common.
Manchester City 7-0 Leeds United. It was one of the most dazzling performances of the season from the reigning champions and it was a pleasure to watch - City hit fifth gear and were unstoppable. Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne (2), Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake all scored, as we moved four points clear at the top if the table. Foden's strike to open the scoring was our 500th Premier League goal since Pep Guardiola took charge in the summer of 2016. It's a remarkable record, with the 500 goals coming in just 207 matches – an average of 2.4 goals per game. That means he is the quickest manager to reach 500 in the competition's history. Jurgen Klopp, who sits second on the list, took charge of 234 Premier League matches before his Liverpool side made it to 500, with Alex Ferguson in third having seen his Manchester United side strike 500 times in his opening 265 games. After the game we heard from De Bruyne and Guardiola – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Goater and Shaun wright Phillips. On an incredible night of Champions League football that saw 20 goals scored across six fixtures, City were involved in a nine-goal thriller. Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish both scored their maiden UCL goals, Riyad Mahrez scored the perfect penalty, Joao Cancelo produced a screamer and Gabriel Jesus continued his fine start to the new season. Ten different players have scored in a City shirt in the past four games and we have now banged in 16 goals in our past three home matches. It was Pep Guardiola's 300th game in charge of City. He's now won 219 of them, winning 10 trophies. Incredible stuff. After the game we heard from Pep, Nathan and Jack - and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Wright-Phillips and Shaun Goater. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In the latest podcast episode, we preview the first major tournament in seven years that the Netherlands will be a part of, Euro 2020. First things first, We pick up from where we left off in the last episode, giving our thoughts on the squad that Frank de Boer ultimately opted to take to the Euros. We then analyse the warm-up matches that took place against Scotland and Georgia, picking out the good and the bad things to take from the games and the 5-3-2 formation that was used in them. Marten de Roon and Owen Wijndal fell into the latter category, and we talk through their issues and discuss potential alternatives to them, such as Ryan Gravenberch and Daley Blind. Central defence and the forward line are both stronger areas for the team, but who will start there isn't yet clear either. Jurrien Timber or Nathan Ake? Donyell Malen or Wout Weghorst? We take our picks... After some final thoughts on the system that De Boer seems set on using, we then put our necks on the line and make predictions, both about the first match against Ukraine and the tournament as a whole.
