Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.Atlanta United traded Xande Silva to St. Louis last night for a guaranteed $100K in General Allocation Money, and St. Louis will take his full salary onto their salary cap. The fee could rise to $250K in GAM if certain incentives are met.Other moves around the league yesterday, the final day of the Primary Transfer Window, included Willy Agada going to RSL and Robert Taylor moving from Miami to Austin. More moves could be announced today, the deals had to be completed on paper by last night to be official. The window is now closed until the Secondary Transfer Window for MLS opens in late July. Vancouver hosts Miami tonight in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals in what should be a sold out BC Place. People are comparing it to Pele's visit with the Cosmos in 1977. Don't discount the Whitecaps in this one, they're currently leading the Supporters' Shield race in MLS and navigated tricky matches with Monterrey and Pumas to get here. Our old friend Juanjo Purata leveled the other semifinal late for Tigres against Cruz Azul. They head to Mexico City for next week's second leg tied at 1-1. Milan hasn't had a great season this year, but they've owned their rivals Inter. Yesterday, they advanced to the Coppa Italia final with a 3-0 win, ruining Inter's treble hopes. Real Madrid defeated Getafe 1-0 yesterday to keep pace with Barcelona at the top of La Liga. However, they lost Eduardo Camavinga due to a torn adductor tendon, he will miss the rest of the season with the injury. They play Barca on Saturday in the Copa del Rey final in Sevilla. Reading have gotten another extension in their deadline to sell the club, they are in the final stages of the transaction and have until May 5 to complete it. The new buyer, who is still confidential at this stage, will take over the current financial obligations of the club right now as they try to earn a promotion playoff spot in League One. Everton announced a new investor, Rangers confirmed the previously reported negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers, and Spezia was sold with Charlie Stillitano becoming the Serie B club's new President. The drama with Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid was covered a great piece by Mario Cortegana in The Athletic. Basically, don't believe the Spanish tabloids that a contract extension with the club is imminent and don't discount the possibility of Vini ending up in Saudi Arabia for an insane amount of money both to him and Real Madrid. And then, don't be surprised if Madrid go shopping in England to replace him. Check out the podcast for more money talk in the game around the world.More Espresso on Friday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.

Whaaatup and welcome back for episode 73. This week, we're talking everything Euro 2024. We break down every group, every team, and all the contenders as fast as we possibly can to fit everything in 1-hour . You're welcome. We talk the favorites between the stacked squads of France and England. Is Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, William Saliba, Eduardo Camavinga, and Tchueimeni enough to take down Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, and all those other super good players? I dont know at all.Plus, Portugal's ridiculous attack of Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafa Leao, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, and Joao Felix, and the Netherlands outrageous center back stockpile of Virgil Van Dijk, De Light, Mickey van de Ven, Nathan Ake, Stefan De Vrij, and Daley Blind.Enjoy!

SPS Weekend Review - Goal-Boy - Episode 374This week, Coach shows love to arguably the most underrated striker in Europe, Lois Openda, while Deen screams about kidneys & Eduardo Camavinga. Join us for our usual jaunt around the continent on a big derby weekend. Tap in!
Spain finish their European qualifying group top, with seven wins from eight, but there was nobody celebrating by the end of it. Join hosts Ruairidh Barlow (@RuriBarlow) and Paco Polit (@pacopolitENG) as they reflect on a sombre night for La Roja.Luis de la Fuente called it the most bitter victory he's ever experienced after Spain defeated Georgia 3-1, the only thing anyone was talking about was Gavi. The 19-year-old star came off before the half-hour mark with what is all-but-confirmed a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament tear. The impact of this is discussed, both for Spain and Barcelona, as it looks like it might keep him ouof the Euros next year. Paco tries to assess De la Fuente's spell up until now - the next time Spain play, de la Fuente will have been in the job over a year. The second half of the show unfortunately has to deal with injuries too: Real Madrid have lost Eduardo Camavinga and Vinícius Junior for multiple months. The upshot is a rather thin set of options for Carlo Ancelotti, who has nine injuries to deal with as things stand. Have Real Betis left Manuel Pellegrini with one too many miracles to work? Their defensive options are analysed. There was some bright news for Barcelona fans, who thumped Real Madrid 5-0 at Montjuïc, which wraps up a chastening show.
Long defined by small technicians like Xavi, Iniesta and Modric, Spanish football is seeing the emergence of a new generation of elite midfielders who bring a more physical presence. In this episode of the Real Deal, we analyze how the arrivals of Eduardo Camavinga at Real Madrid and Jude Bellingham's emergence at Borussia Dortmund, along with Barca's Gavi, signal a transition to a more athletic, box-to-box style of midfielder. Camavinga brings a rangy, powerful skillset from midfield, while Gavi plays with tenacity and aggressiveness belying his small stature. Bellingham adds goal threat and is an elite box-to-box presence. Their early success shows this blend of technical security, intelligence and athleticism is set to dominate for years to come, and change our view of ‘controlling' dominant midfielders set by Kroos, Modric, Xavi and Iniesta in the past.
Teenagers are fleeting - one minute past their 20th birthday, and they're gone into the big wide world of everyday footballers - so we have to give them their due whilst we can. And it seems only yesterday that we were punctuating this list with Ryan Gravenberch, Nuno Mendes - and even Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. But the seasons flow, players grow and new wonderkids wind up on the block every single season, so it's time to put them in order for 2022. We talk a host of names, from a Barcelona cohort including Ansu Fati, Gavi and reigning title-holder Pedri, Eduardo Camavinga, Borussia Dortmund's latest gems off the production line, Harvey Elliott (how is he still elegible?!), Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz and many more. Sam also chucks in a big prediction for this season for each of his top five. Things We Love focuses on Graham Potter's rise to the top table of European football management, a rake of late moments for the big guns in Serie A, and Sporting's recovery after a tough start to the season - with some love for some names who were maybe in danger of slipping into unfulfilled promise territory. There's a Melon of the Week out of Turin (or multiple, being frank) and we do a quick draft to select our teams that we'll focus on for the upcoming 2022 World Cup. It's Ranks!
