My oh my. What a wild ride we have in store for you. We all know that it's not Christmas until Noddy Holder screams the fact into your ear, but what else do Slade have in store for us? Kev's pretty sure that Corey only picked 1983 for this season so he could talk about Run Runaway, but will he give it a 10, 10, and 5? Will Kev believe in woman? And what shenanigans does he have planned for this album's game? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and slam the hammer down!Songs covered in this episode: "Slam the Hammer Down", "In the Doghouse", "Run Runaway", "High and Dry", "My Oh My", "Cocky Rock Boys (Rule O.K.)"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/76F8G8FEX8Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. Over the next few episodes, we're revisiting conversations we've had with festive icons - and what better place to start than with the literal voice of Christmas: Slade frontman Noddy Holder!Even though he's known for screaming "It's Christmas!" every year, there's so much more to Noddy's storied career as part of an era-defining band who have sold over 50 million records. Last year he spoke to us about his journey from singing in pubs to sold-out arena tours, life on the road and some unbelievable meetings with the likes of Diana Ross, Muhammad Ali and even John Lennon! For all the latest news, click here to follow us on Instagram!***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Back by popular demand, it's our annual Christmas party! And this year we're wrestling with TRADITION. Are you making a list, and checking it twice – just as you always do? Have you demanded figgy pudding from your local landowner – and threatened violence if you don't get some? Are you hanging up your stockings on the wall with Noddy Holder? What traditions define your Christmas? We've got Christmas tree gherkins, obscene Christmas jumpers, schmaltzy John Lewis adverts, and pop songs that make your ears bleed. It truly is the most cursed time of the year! Theme music: Mr Beatnick Artwork: Archie Bashford

Ever wondered what Slade's Noddy Holder is doing now? Curious as to whether he still sings? Or how he survived a terminall cancer diagnosis? Tune in to find out. Neville ‘Noddy' Holder is one of the great institutions of British rock. As the garishly trousered, top-hatted frontman of West Midlands glam yobs Slade, he helped soundtrack the early 70s with a string of Top 10 hits that peaked with the immortal festive anthem Merry Xmas Everybody. Since leaving the band in the early 90s, Noddy branched out into acting, most notably in sitcom The Grimleys, and writing (his 1999 autobiography Who's Crazee Now? was followed by 2014's The World According To Noddy). He is also the voice for the elevator announcements at his local Walsall art gallery. Born in 1946 in the Midlands, Noddy formed his first band, The Rockin' Phantoms, at the age of 13 and left school after O levels to take a job in a car parts firm while pursuing a music career. The band became The Memphis Cut-Outs and they became popular enough on the local scene for Noddy to quit the day job. He went on to join The Mavericks, who were signed to a record label in 1965, and his stablemates were The N' Betweens, a band that included future Slade members guitarist Dave Hill and drummer Don Powell. The two bands shared bills and bonded, laying the foundations for Noddy's next move. In 1966, Dave and Don convinced Noddy to join their new group, along with multi-instrumentalist Jim Lea. They called the band Ambrose Slade. After their debut album flopped, they changed their name to Slade and adopted a skinhead image for the following year's Play It Loud. When that failed to catch the public's imagination, the band turned to glam rock and swiftly became one of Britain's biggest bands, with Slayed? (1972) reaching No 1 after their breakthrough single Get Down And Get With It. The next few years saw Slademania take Britain by storm with a run of classic, hit singles (mostly chart-toppers) that gave English teachers the nation over sleepless nights including Coz I Luv You, Take Me Bak 'Ome, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Gudbuy T'Jane, Cum On Feel The Noize, Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me and Merry Xmas Everybody. Noddy Holder left Slade in 1992 but remained a familiar figure on BritishTV screens, most notably as a team captain on BBC1's music series A Question Of Pop and playing the music teacher Neville Holder in the ITV comedy drama The Grimleys. In 2000, Noddy was awarded the MBE for his services to showbusiness. Late in 2023, Noddy revealed that he'd been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer five years earlier and had been given six months to live. Thanks to some experimental chemotherapy treatment, Noddy has survived and is back on the stage doing what he loves to do best. Noddy Holder joins us this week to walk us through his illustrious career and talks warts and all. For more information about Noddy http://www.noddyholder.com/ Comments, questions or suggestions for future guests https://www.abreathoffreshair.com.au

DAN McCAFFERTY THE VOICE OF NAZARETH October 14, 1946 – November 8, 2022 'THE LOST INTERVIEWS' EPISODE 9 Scottish Rocker Dan McCafferty has been the quintessential and charismatic frontman for hard rock veterans Nazareth since the band's inception in 1968. McCafferty has fired up live audiences across the globe for 45 years with a heavy dose of undisputed hardcore crooning power. Most recently McCafferty has retired from touring with Nazareth due to a lung disease that makes breathing extremely difficult called COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Dan McCafferty will pass the microphone over to Nazareth's new frontman, 41-year-old Linton Osborne of Rosyth, Scotland. McCafferty will cease touring but will not cease recording in the studio. In fact, McCafferty and Nazareth have recently released a mammoth new hard rock gem entitled ‘Rock ‘N' Roll Telephone.' The album features Dan McCafferty on lead vocals, Pete Agnew on bass, Jimmy Murrison on guitars, and Lee Agnew on drums. It's the band's 23rd studio album and their first since 2011.The CD features 11 original heavy rockers and bluesy ballads. The deluxe digipack edition will include a second disc with two additional studio recordings and five live tracks and will also be available in a double LP gatefold vinyl version. Invigorating and commanding hardcore rock ‘n' roll are back, just the way we remembered it ...It's the rock we all listened to and partied with in high school …I gave ‘Rock ‘N' Roll Telephone' by Nazareth (5) Stars. NAZARETH: Over the years …critics and music aficionados alike have correlated Dan McCafferty's vocal styles with such artists as AC/DC's Brian Johnson, Slade's Noddy Holder, and Humble Pie's Steve Marriott. The band supported Deep Purple on tour during several occasions which led to Purple's bassist Roger Glover producing their third studio album entitled Razamanaz (1973). Subsequent Glover produced albums included … Loud ‘N' Proud (1973) and Rampant (1974). In 1975, while looking for a new direction, Nazareth appointed lead guitarist Many Charlton as their new producer. The band's new order resulted in their biggest selling album to date entitled …Hair of the Dog. The album spawned the self-titled hard rock classic “Hair of the Dog” and their popular Top 40 hit “Love Hurts” (1975 #8 U.S. Billboard Hot 100) a cover track penned by Boudleaux Bryant and first recorded by The Everly Brothers (1960) and Roy Orbison (1961). Nazareth has maintained modest popularity in the U.S. while enjoying significant acceptance in Europe. Across the globe, Nazareth remains a consistent concert-pleaser. Former band members that have contributed to the success of Nazareth were … original drummer Darrell Sweet (1968- 1999, Sweet died in 1999), original lead guitarist Manny Charlton (1968-1990), Zal Cleminson on guitars (1978-1980), Billy Rankin on guitars (1980-83,1990-94), John Locke on keyboards (1980-82, Locke died in 2006), and Ronnie Leahy on keyboards (1994-2002). ++++++++++Song-Tipps zur Folge++++++++++ "Get Down And Get with It" "Know Who You Are" "Coz I Luv You" "Look Wot You Dun" "Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me" "Look At Last Nite" "I Won't Let It 'Appen Agen" "Gudbuy T'Jane" "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" "Cum On Feel The Noize" "Just A Little Bit" "When The Lights Are Out" "Do We Still Do It" "My Friend Stan" "Everyday" "The Bangin' Man" "How Does It Feel?" Les, Kurt, and Jason were so energized by Don Johnson's Heartbeat in the previous episode (the promotional movie moreso than his actual pulse), so they're tackling some more music videos this week. But first, THE Pepper MaShay came to see Les's show, as did Lesley Ann Warren and Lifetime of Hallmark SUPERFAN Samantha (thanks for listening). Then Kurt shares what may be newly specific news about Blac Chyna as it relates to sobriety. Fun fact: Les is kinda dickmatized by Dick van Dyke (a conversation started after a June Squibb spotting). Then it's time to get into 3 different defining (?) music videos of the 80's, starting with Journey's “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” The Sherrie of Steve Perry's “Oh Sherry” almost killed this video, but she doesn't have to because it dies on its own (though without a soundtrack since the instruments keep disappearing). Then, the guys took a look at Slade's “Run Runaway” video, complete with a kilt-wearing dude swinging a giant phallic telephone pole all around a well lit castle while lead singer Noddy Holder is doing… something… with his mouth (Jason has a theory). Finally, Les subjects Jason and Kurt to the Pia Zadora and Jermaine Jackson classic (at least in Europe) “When the Rain Begins to Fall” from Pia's movie Voyage of the Rock Aliens. At least there's a vespa chase and some proximity to peak Michael Jackson. Facebook : alifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

For many, drinking is part of our national identity but the immediate after effects of alcohol, it turns out, are an under investigated part of the experience. This week Jaega Wise looks hangovers from all angles. from science, history and culture. She talks to Dr Sally Adams Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Birmingham about what a hangover does to our bodies and minds. Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall is a writer who for his book Hungover: A History of the Morning After and One Man's Quest for a Cure subjected himself to serious self-experiment in search of a cure. Jaega talks to him about his decade of drinking and investigation into the history of the hangover. She also meets Prof David Nutt for a drink. Previously the Government's chief drug advisor, he is now trying to create a replacement to alcohol that will create a pleasant effect without issues the next day. Timmy Mallet joins Robert Kirkwood to talk about the best gifts to give for Christmas and about how his late brother with Down's Syndrome was the inspiration for an epic journey detailed in his book, 'Utterly Brilliant, My Life's Journey', plus we hear from Noddy Holder about his acting career and how the Slade song 'Merry Xmas Everybody' was recorded.
In 1972 Chucky Berry was onstage in Coventry. Seeking some audience participation Chuck launched into a cover of an unusual novelty record called 'My Ding-a-Ling'. One of the men who can be heard in the crowd singing about their "Ding-a-Ling' was Noddy Holder whose band Slade were supporting Berry on his UK tour. This track became Berry's only UK number one and by default, one of Noddy's seven. Paul Gambaccini also saw Berry live in the 1970s and remembers him playing hits like 'Johnny B. Goode' and 'Maybellene', but never performing for a minute longer than the agreed contracted length of his set. Paul and Noddy join Matthew Parris to discuss the life of this influential pioneer who along with Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard is said to have invented rock n roll. They talk about Berry's musical influences, his rise to stardom, his shrewd approach to business and some of the darker moments that blight Berry's legacy. Produced by Toby Field for BBC Audio, Bristol.

Everything you normally get at an agency Christmas party, but with a special guest appearance from this year's Santa - Paul Grubb. Along with that, we discuss what Pantone actually does, what Paul got away with in the 90s, bands named after sex stuff, is past male or female, how to talk to a celebrity, Red Hot Chilli Peppers' new fridge, Noddy Holder the Grinch and Paul's New Year wish for the advertising industry. Paul tells us about Dave Trott's milk bottle wisdom and Paul pays a fantastic tribute to the recently retired Peter Souter. We play Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble as well as a wonderful karaoke tune, and we finally get to recreate Paul's encounter with rock god David Bowie! Learn more about your ad choices. "Cooking is like therapy to us. I grew up where my big extended family would come together in summer under the walnut tree. The adults would drink and we'd eat, stories would be told and we'd break into song. It was a healing process." In the first of a new series, the cookbook author Olia Hercules tells us why she's picked the Ukrainian artist and activist Alla Horska as her Great Life. A member of the Sixtiers, Alla was a part of the Ukrainian dissident movement of writers, artists and cultural figures who stood against the destruction of Ukrainian identity and rallied for greater freedoms. Growing up in Ukraine, Olia says she was taught so much about Russian culture, and so little about Ukrainian culture, that she wanted to fix that. Now in a time of war, Olia discovers how parts of Alla's life mirror her own. Joining her in studio is Tetyana Filevska, creative director of the Ukrainian Institute. Tetyana moved to London to escape the war in Ukraine. Future guests in the series include writer Olivia Laing on Christopher Lloyd, Bob Harris on Sir Matt Busby, and Noddy Holder on Chuck Berry. Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Caitlin Hobbs
Join Fleet Street Fox and Ashley Cowburn to discuss the big stories of the day, including the potential winter of discontent facing the Tories, the former Health Secretary's delayed return to Parliament, and Noddy Holder's wife getting sick of hearing 'IT'S CHRISTMAASSSSSSS!' What to expect of Slade now and in the future - listen to our exclusive interview and find out. Enjoy!

W/C 25th April 2022 Seeing Neil Morrissey yesterday has reminded me how much I used to enjoy a particular episode of Bob the Builder. It was a feature-length episode from 2001 called a Christmas To Remember and it featured (amongst others) Elton John, Chris Evans and Noddy Holder. It became a bit of a Christmas staple long before the kids came along, and tbh has always been appreciated more by me than either of my offspring. So even though Neil was looking a little grumpy when he walked past me yesterday, and certainly not up to being approached for a natter, I just want to doff my cap in recognition of this piece of work alone. It started out as a mechanism for me to clear my head, with the hope that by saying stuff out loud it would act as a little bit of self-help. It's remains loose in style, fluid in terms of content and raw - it's a one take, press record and see what happens, affair. Evergreen Assets with John Lamerton Evergreen Assets is the name of John Lamerton's latest book. This is John's third appearance on The Next 100 Days Podcast. Evergreen Assets - The Book BUY THE BOOK John wrote the majority of the book in the March 2020 lockdown. John's clients were concerned to receive his advice. Firstly, he told them to look after cash flow. Secondly, look after relationships. One of the recurring themes in the book is that it is not a numbers game, it's a relationships game. No one remembers what you did, but they'll remember how you made them feel. Thirdly, he told people to build evergreen assets. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Evergreen-Assets.mp4 Noddy Holder - Great Example of Evergreen Assets Even though Graham got his 70s bands mixed up, Mud and Slade. Noddy Holder was in fact the lead singer and writer of a very popular Christmas anthem. John tells the story... http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Noddy-Holder.mp4 It is rumoured that Noddy Holder receives £500k royalties, etc for the song every year. That is some return of effort deployed. John Doesn't Like "What's Working Now" He says the Guru's like to sell 'what's working right now. Why? It's because Guru's can say the reason you're now successful is you aren't doing what's working right now. You are using an outdated model. The world has moved on. He says, The Gurus will say, "I've got a secret, and that secret is what's working right now". It's all smoke and mirrors. A sleight of hand magic trick to rob you of money. Instead, John encourages business owners to focus on what works every single time. It's the "Merry Christmas Everybody" marketing strategy. What do you think of Social Media? "It's tomorrow's chip paper." http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Social-Media.mp4 The Social Network John points out that social media used to be known as the social network. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Disliking-Social-Media.mp4 John argues that it is far better for business owners to go deep with a few people, rather than spray stuff to lots of people. The Evergreen Assets Eco-System http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Evergreen-Assets-Eco-System.mp4 There will be one of the 6 seed classes that your business can most benefit from. Viral Class - R Rate John uses the R rate, used to reflect the Replicate Rate of the China Virus. So if you have an R rate of 1.5, for every 10 customers, they'll bring in 5 free. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-R-Rate-Viral.mp4 The gym wraps up a shareable story that can be put into a referral system, then you'll have a business that produces a huge number of referral clients. The trade is made with the client to say if I produce the results you are looking for, you will refer me to 5 other people. The Guarantee Meanwhile, John has noted his clients like the idea of offering guarantees. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Guarantee.mp4 John Lamerton's The Next 100 Days Podcast Testimonial http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/John-Lamerton-Testimonial.mp4 The Next 100 Days co-hosts… Graham Arrowsmith Finely Fettled helps organisations that want to market to affluent and high net worth customers with direct marketing campaigns and data services. In not quite the words of Noddy Holder and the rest of Slade (ask your parents) IT'S ALMOST CHRIIIIISSSSSTMASSSSSSS. OK that's a stretch given it's the middle of November, but you really should be making decisions about what you are doing with your podcast over the festive period. Every year the question "should I have a break over Christmas" is asked. This year my answer is a bit different. In this episode hear why I think you should consider more than before keeping up your regular publishing schedule and a few ideas for content too. I also spend a lot of time laughing at my own jokes - but don't let that put you off.
