Send us a text and let us know what you think of our podcast! It is the end ... but the moment has (not?) been prepared for...What we thought was a regular season finale turned out to be a Regeneration story as Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor bid farewell to us after two, too short seasons! In this episode of our podcast, we look at both Wish World and the second part of the finale, The Reality War and discuss a whole lot of things including...the overall feelings regarding the Fifteenth Doctor eraRTD and the "Yes" menanswers and their absence, particularly in relation to Mrs Flood talking to the audience!!wasting characters - we're looking at your decrepit corpse, Omega!was this always meant to be a Regeneration story?literally putting Belinda in a boxPoppy! Would that all have worked better with Ruby?Nonsense that doesn't make sense ...and of course we tackle two of the biggest bomb shells to come out of this episode......the return of Billie Piper as...maybe The Doctor? Our reactions are polarized on this! But one thing we do agree on is, the return of Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor is a glorious moment to treasure! And of course, we hear from our listeners with their thoughts too!Support the show Subscribe to Who Corner to Corner on your podcast app to make sure you don't miss an episode! Musician Olly Alexander was born in Harrogate, and discovered a love of acting at school, where tread the boards in Guys and Dolls and the bug had bitten. His role as Ritchie in Russel T Davies' acclaimed Channel 4 drama It's a Sin, bringing to life the horrors of HIV/Aids in the Gay community in the 1980's, brought him serious attention and plaudits, earning him a Bafta TV nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category amongst others. But it was as a musician where he originally made his mark as the vocalist for the band Years and Years, reaching number one in the UK album charts twice, and releasing a series of super catchy singles that made series dents in the mainstream charts. He went solo in 2024 in a big way by representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest last year and his debut solo album is Polari, recently released to rave reviews.

"The Fall Guy" with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt underwhelmed at the box office despite favorable reviews and audience scores. Is it a sign of a poor upcoming summer for blockbusters at the box office? "Unfrosted," Jerry Seinfeld's fictional look at the history of Pop Tarts, is the No. 1 movie on Netflix but has not faired well with viewers or critics. So maybe the biggest thing to come is the latest series of "Doctor Who," which debuted in 1963 but now finds itself as the newest, biggest show on Disney+. As an added treat, co-host Bruce Miller has an interview with co-stars Ncuti Gatwa, who stars as the Fifteenth Doctor, and Millie Gibson, who plays Ruby Sunday. Miller also talks with showrunner Russel T Davies. We also look ahead to summer, where "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is expected to rule. Contact us! We want to hear from you! And as always Dylan and Iain answer the burning questions:What do Michelle Collins and Sylvester Stallone have in common? Which pop star invented homosexuality? Just how big is East London? If all has gone according to plan, this episode has dropped the same day as the latest episode of Iain's podcast We're All Stories In The End, in which he and Dylan talk about the book  'Damaged Goods', which you should track down and listen to as the perfect accompaniment to this episode.https://shows.acast.com/were-all-stories-in-the-end

Years and Years est portée par un cast brillant.

Doctor Who tried to come back in the '90s, but it didn't take. Vinnk and Sean, along with guest host Miles (from sister podcast Casual Trek) examine what made the 2005 relaunch successful, areas where Davies wasn't so strong, and some of what we can look forward to (or are dreading) when he returns as Doctor Who showrunner in 2023. When Doctor Who relaunched in 2005 on the BBC after a failed (but serviceable) Fox US movie/pilot barely a decade earlier, many of us didn't know what to expect. We didn't expect Christopher Eccleston, and we certainly didn't expect Russel T Davies and his eccentric touch, but both rocketed the franchise into a new golden age the likes of which could only have been imagined by fans of the classic series. Vinnk and Sean, along with guest host Miles (from sister podcast Casual Trek) relive the reboot, ostensibly without the benefit of rose-colored glasses, and not at all influenced by RTD's return to the remade franchise nearly two decades later in 2023. If you have just listened to our epic episode with Callum Scott Howells and loved It's A Sin as much as I did, this episode dives into the issues raised in both. Today we are joined by two incredible and inspirational people who have been directly impacted by HIV: Jill Nalder who It's A Sin's character, Jill, is based on and Eugene Lynch who was diagnosed with HIV in 2013 and is now a Senior Positive Voices Coordinator at the Terrence Higgins Trust. In case you haven't watched It's A Sin yet - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN – the show which is nominated for 11 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards - explores the lives and loves of group of queer youngsters beginning a new life in 1980s London and soon find themselves struck by the HIV pandemic, ignored by most of the world at the time. Created by the iconic Russel T Davies, the show is now nominated for an incredible 11 awards at the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards including a nomination for Colin's diagnosis scene - played powerfully by Callum Scott Howells - for the Virgin Media Must See Moment Award. In this episode Jill Nalder who was not only the inspiration for Jill Baxter in the show, the character played by Lydia West (check out Lydia's Reign episode - it's episode four!) but also plays her onscreen mother, reflects on losing a number of close friends in the 1980s who were affected by the HIV pandemic. She also talks powerfully about allyship whilst looking back on her own experience of supporting her friends through this time, taking them tests and visiting them in hospital. Eugene Lynch joins us to talk about his own journey from his diagnosis with HIV to today, the reality of living with HIV today and looks back on the progress we have made with society's approach to HIV and what we can do to eradicate the stigma that still persists. Plus Jill and Eugene talk about the incredible work of the Terrence Higgins Trust, the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity which offers support, information and advice services for those living with HIV and affected by HIV or poor sexual health. This year marks 40 years since the death of Terry Higgins - one of the first people in the UK to die from an AIDS-related illness - and the formation of the charity in his name. And for 40 years their vision is for a world where people with HIV live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, and good sexual health is a right and reality for all. Both Jill and Eugene share some truly inspirational stories and advice we all need to listen to so I hope their stories strike a chord with you, like they did with me. I hope you love listening to this episode and I also hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives. If you love this episode, please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxxP.S. If you have been affected by any of the content raised in this episode, are living with HIV yourself or you know someone that is, please head to The Terrence Higgins Trust. And while It's A Sin centers on a group of gay men in London, Terrence Higgins Trust continues to work with a whole host of different people as HIV can, and does, affect anyone of any age, sexuality, ethnicity or gender. Despite this, 77% of UK adults have never had a HIV test. Routine testing needs to be increased to find people living with undiagnosed HIV in the UK. For more information on testing, for support of for more information visit tht.org.ukP.P.S I can't really believe that this and you will have heard all about it in the podcast but this very special episode of REIGN is brought to you in partnership with Virgin Media – proud sponsors of the British Academy Television Awards. Virgin Media brings together all your favourite entertainment under one roof. And, as the only award at the Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards that's voted for by us, the public, Virgin Media's Must-See Moment represents real TV fans and the moments we love! It's down to six unmissable TV moments, including Colin's devastating AIDs diagnosis in It's A Sin, which we've discussed in this episode. But there can be only one winner. So who'll be crowned Virgin Media's Must-See Moment of 2021? You'll have to tune in for this year's Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards on 8th May at 6pm to find out! I'll be joining you on the sofa in my evening wear finest! SEE YA THERE! X

Hold on to your tissues because you might shed happy and sad tears because in today's episode we are joined by the star of It's A Sin, Callum Scott Howells! ***And before we go any further, if you haven't watched It's A Sin yet, be warned there are serious plot spoilers in this episode***It's A Sin - which is nominated for a whopping 11 awards at this year's Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards - is the definition of a game changing show. Created by the iconic, Russel T Davies (the man behind the likes of Queer as Folk, Years & Years and Doctor Who) the show explores the lives and loves of group of queer youngsters beginning a new life in 1980s London and soon find themselves struck by the HIV pandemic, ignored by most of the world at the time. In his Virgin Media BAFTA TV Best Supporting Actor nominated performance, Callum plays the much loved Colin, a young Welsh lad who moves to London to become a tailor and experience queer life for the first time but is eventually devastated by the virus. Colin's diagnosis scene (it makes me cry just thinking about it ANYONE ELSE?!?) which shows him flanked by allies and his mother is also nominated for Virgin Media's Must-See Moment Award at this year's Virgin Media BAFTA TV awards, too. The award celebrates the diversity of British TV, and the moments that got our nation talking, tweeting, laughing, crying and so much more in 2021 and Callum's first ever on screen performance defines exactly that. And that's also why we only spend about half the episode on-topic. But it's really really funny so we think you'll enjoy it anyway. There is still a lot of Adam content. This week we dive into the TV masterpiece, It's a Sin, that has swept the nation and has been recommended to us on multiple occasions (thank you listeners!). It's A Sin arrives in all its glory and we are in love.
Synchronicity emerged in our reading this week, as Alex was consumed by Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters and Rhiannon sank into She Wants It by Joey Soloway. Both books offered incredible insight into the journeys and pluralities within transitioning. Alex shares another comedy song contribution, which is happening so frequently that it's almost ready to become a feature. Rhiannon drastically shifts the tone of the podcast by discussing cricket - we're as surprised as you are - and won Alex over with the drama of the Australian cricket team's journey to redemption, in the Amazon Prime series The Test. Finally, Alex shares her podcast hot tips, after listening to a fascinating discussion on Good Ancestor about white supremacy and erasure in yoga. We are an accessible podcast, you can find transcripts in our linktree in our instagram bio @thegrandthunk. Follow us on social media @thegrandthunk or email us - thegrandthunk@gmail.com.
