We've always been taught that power corrupts. But lots of people have power and aren't corrupt. What corrupts is pressure. When you're given responsibility for managing other people, often there aren't resources to help you manage yourself. And the pressure that any new or even seasoned manager can feel in their role can be crippling.Sabina Nawaz discovered this firsthand in her executive leadership role at Microsoft. She recounts a harrowing return from maternity leave that left her scrambling to prepare the CEO, and along the way, she found herself becoming a person she didn't recognize. In her new book You're the Boss: Become the Manager You Want to Be (and Others Need), Sabina shares an evidence-based framework for managing pressure and power with grace and intelligence, with actionable tips to help you succeed. You can find Timeless Leadership wherever you get podcasts. The second in command in any job gets neither the attention nor the respect that the chief does.By virtue of their timing, the founders and those who came first tend to command the spotlight. And yet, those who follow them do more than continue a legacy; they need to forge their own path and determine how to create something sustainable.Lindsay M. This is the power of stories. I don't have to literally say to you I care about you…because of the stories I choose to tell, I am the type of person that cares about the fate of others.”Neal ignites the storytelling ability in others with his course, Storyfire. Bonjour! Stephanie here. I am excited to share the inspiring insights from my recent conversation with recording artist Aaron Shust on the Gospel Spice podcast! Together we invite you to journey deeper into faith through worship. Aaron opened up about his faith journey, music career, and deep connection to scripture and different cultural influences. Aaron and I discussed the importance of experiencing Scripture through different perspectives and interpretations, emphasizing the value of humility and teachability in growing in faith. He shared how diverse cultural influences have shaped his songwriting and deepened his understanding of God's word, with a key focus on the Messianic Jewish culture. Aaron remains truly humble and teachable, as well as always curious to learn more. This is the hallmark of someone who is walking closely with the Lord. God gets all the glory, and we get to delight in Him through it! It is essential to surround ourselves with people who inspire us to walk closer to God. Inspired by his experiences and love for Scripture, Aaron shared his ongoing desire to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, leading to the creation of his latest song, "Pray for Jerusalem" based on Psalm 122. His commitment to writing songs based on Scripture is truly a testament to God's faithfulness and goodness, and the depth of Aaron's faith and creativity. MORE ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS CONVERSATION Stephanie welcomes acclaimed worship leader and songwriter Aaron Shust to discuss his inspiring journey as a musician and a devoted follower of Christ. Aaron shares how his deep-rooted faith has not only shaped his musical compositions, but also transformed his spiritual walk. Aaron Shust's artistic evolution presents a compelling narrative of exploration and cultural immersion. His pilgrimage to Israel in 2016 served as a catalyst, reigniting his fascination with ancient traditions and compelling him to delve into the practices of messianic Jewish communities. This journey ignited a creative flame within Aaron, prompting him to infuse his songwriting with influences from his global travels, including the captivating sounds of Scottish music and the evocative melodies of Middle Eastern traditions. By embracing sonic elements from his expeditions, Aaron adds a vibrant and culturally diverse dimension to his musical repertoire. Aaron Shust's latest endeavor, "Pray for Jerusalem," stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to encapsulating scriptural inspiration within his music. Rooted in the profound call to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, this poignant composition echoes the enduring devotion to scriptural narratives, weaving together the threads of prayer, faith, and melodic exaltation. Through this musical creation, Aaron extends an invitation to unite in prayer for the ancient city, encapsulating the spiritual essence of the Scriptures through his heartfelt melodies. Growing up in a family immersed in a love for both the Bible and music, Aaron's childhood was shaped by the harmonious fusion of these two elements. His early exposure to the Hebrew scriptures, coupled with his mother's affinity for music featuring the word Yeshua, laid the groundwork for a profound connection between faith and melody. Central to Aaron Shust's creative process is the imbuing of his compositions with the profound essence of Scripture. His deep reverence for biblical teachings and Jesus' words has led him to craft songs that serve as soul-stirring embodiments of faith and reverence. By weaving the timeless wisdom of Scripture into his musical tapestry, Aaron breathes life into age-old verses, ushering his listeners into a realm of spiritual contemplation and melody. His musical creations exemplify a harmonious marriage of faith and artistry, igniting the hearts of his audience with the eternal resonance of God's word. Aaron Shust's captivating account unravels the profound interplay between faith, musical expression, and the timeless resonance of scripture. It is a joy and a delight to welcome him on Gospel Spice this week! A FEW OF AARON SHUST'S MOST POPULAR SONGS: My Savior, my God (2006) To God alone (2009) My hope is in You (2011) Cornerstone (2014) No one higher (2014) Ever be (2016) MORE ABOUT AARON SHUST Aaron's fascination with music—with unique sounds, melodies, progressions, and techniques—has always been a salient part of who he is. From an early age, Aaron has felt most at home in front of a piano. Just as innate to Aaron is his love of God's Word—of wrestling with the Scriptures, with the hard and beautiful things they say, and the way they foretell and fulfill a picture of a suffering servant, King Jesus. You'll hear these twin loves in Shust's music, from his debut success with “My Savior My God,” winning the 2007 New Artist, Songwriter and Song of the Year. Later, as he grappled with a surprise Down Syndrome diagnosis for one son and waged a war with chronic illness for two, he continued to declare “My Hope is in You,” a song which spent 14 weeks at #1, and “Ever Be,” which debuted at #3 on the NCA chart. Aaron bolsters the faith of his listeners and surprises them, too, as with his 2014 Christmas Album Unto Us, recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. With this collection, Shust turns conventional classics into something fresh and adds his own work to the canon of Christmas music. Over the past several years, Aaron has delved deeply into friendship with Messianic Jews, both in Nashville and Israel, as well as into the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish tradition that they yield. Here, Aaron and his family have found not only friendship, but also a depth of insight into the rich background of the Yeshua Aaron proclaims, and what this depth of meaning can bring to believers today. You'll hear the reverence Aaron has developed for this Jewish heritage in Heaven + Earth: The Psalms Project. From melodic patterns and Middle Eastern instruments to passages sung in Hebrew and collaboration with Israeli musicians, Shust is determined that the listener will steep in the Psalmist's musical vocabulary and therefore, have an intimate and imaginatively accurate experience of this ancient treasure of praise, lament, and contemplation. Shust, a native of Pittsburgh, makes his home in Nashville with his wife Sarah and their sons Daniel, Nick, and Michael, as well as a growing menagerie of pets. On his latest album release, titled “Waiting For The Sun To Rise”, the Juno award winning artist has penned several original songs, blended with a few new arrangements of some well-known tunes, such as the Tears For Fears classic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”. The album contains a harmonious blend of jazz, folk, and pop. Lyrically, Marc reflects on his time living in the American West, thoughts about the problems our world is facing, loneliness sparked by the pandemic, and the joys of the natural world. This is arguably his most introspective collection of songs in his vast canon of work, backed by lush strings from the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, with collaborations from Lou Pomanti and Randy Brecker. Synopsis The late Australian composer Barrington Pheloung's music might not be familiar to concertgoers, but if you watch public television's Mystery series, you've probably heard a lot of his work. Pheloung composed music for the British Inspector Morse TV series, chronicling the cases of a Thames Valley police inspector and his loyal assistant, Robbie Lewis, and once explained how he came up with the haunting “Inspector Morse” theme: “Morse is a very melancholic character ... and he was a lover of classical music ... He has a very cryptic mind and loves doing crosswords; we came up with the obvious idea – his name is Morse and so we used Morse code in the [theme] music.” Pheloung said the tapped code for M-O-R-S-E created a rhythm and even suggested a harmonic structure: “I picked up my guitar and there was the tune.” Barrington Pheloung was born on today's date in 1954 in Sydney, Australia, played drums and guitar as a kid, discovered Bach as a teen, and ended up earning a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London. He composed music for dance, films, and TV, including “Lewis,” the sequel to the successful Inspector Morse series. Mike Score is Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist and a founder member of the band, A Flock of Seagulls. The band was one of the most influential of the 1980's and has shaped much of today's electronic music. Mike was a hairdresser in Liverpool until in 1978, when he formed his first band. When this disbanded, he founded A Flock of Seagulls, with his brother Ali Score(Drums), Paul Reynolds (Lead Guitar) and Frank Maudsley (Bass). Mike was now vocalist and played keyboard, guitar and this new line up began relentlessly playing in local bars and venues. This paid off, as they eventually got rewarded with a record contract. Mike brought the band a unique New Romantic style, infusing futuristic notes through pioneering work with synthesisers, experimental vocal tones and space age costumes to create their eccentric image. Mike was also best known for his signature, trademark haircut. Their self-titled debut album, ‘A Flock of Seagulls', was released in 1982. The album received a lot of attention, and achieved international success. Their follow up album, ‘Listen', was released in 1983, and the band went on to an extensive world wide touring regime, playing shows alongside bands like The Psychedelic Furs, The Cars, The Police and The Fixx. The eventually drifted apart and band broke up, following mixed reviews of their subsequent albums, ‘The Story of a Young Heart' and ‘Dream Come True'. When he decided to reform the band again in 1988, the other members declined to join him. Score performed and toured A Flock of Seagulls with an alternative line up. In 1995 he released the album ‘The Light at the End of the World' which unfortunately did not perform very well commercially, and saw the band fall away again for a while.. In 2013, Score indicated that he had started a solo career and planned to release a solo album followed. These plans were delayed by the theft of the van containing Score's equipment, clothing and hard drives with the album tracks on. On 1 March 2014, Score released ‘Zeebratta', his first studio album. It was announced in 2018, that the original four members of the band would come together to record a new album, featuring the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The album ‘Ascension' followed, and was to be their first studio recording since 1984. They got together again for another album, ‘Inflight (The Extended Essentials)', this time reworking their original hits from the 1980's, but once again this reunion was short lived. Mike Score is currently working on various solo projects, and he still tours and performs regularly with his band, spending time in both Liverpool and Florida. Bonnie Tyler Interview

Bonnie Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, was brought up in Skewen, a small village near Swansea. She grew up to become one of Wales' best known performers, achieving chart success all over the world. She is recognised for her distinctive husky voice, and a long list of hit singles including Total Eclipse of the Heart, It's a Heartache, Holding Out for a Hero, Lost in France, More Than a Lover, Bitterblue and If I Sing You a Love Song. In her 50-year career, Bonnie has performed for audiences in countries across the world, and she has enjoyed critical acclaim for her recent albums Rocks and Honey and Between The Earth and the Stars. Her latest album The Best Is Yet to Come – due for release on 26 February 2021 – is a contemporary approach to the sounds and styles of 80s pop rock.   As a teenager, Bonnie was influenced by the biggest female voices of the 60s, especially Tina Turner and Janis Joplin. After spending several years performing in local pubs and clubs around South Wales, first with Bobbie Wayne & the Dixies and later with her own band, Imagination, Bonnie was discovered by talent scout Roger Bell in 1974. RCA Records launched Bonnie's recording career two years later with her debut single My! My! Honeycomb. Her breakthrough hit was Lost in France, written by her managers Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolfe. The single peaked at no. 9 in the UK, and spent six months in the German charts. After enjoying further success with subsequent singles More Than a Lover and Heaven, Bonnie finally broke into the Billboard charts with It's a Heartache, which reached no. 3 in the United States. Of the four albums that Bonnie recorded for RCA, Natural Force was the most successful, selling over half a million copies in the United States. Ready to embrace the new decade, Bonnie moved to CBS Records to work with Jim Steinman in the early 80s. Their fateful collaboration resulted in the groundbreaking international hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, a multi-platinum selling single that still enjoys cultural relevance in the 21st century. It is lifted from her fifth album, Faster Than the Speed of Night, which saw Tyler become to first British female artist to make her debut appearance on the UK Albums Chart at no. 1. During the 80s, she recorded several songs for movie soundtracks, including the UK no. 2 hit Holding Out for a Hero for Footloose, and the Grammy-nominated single Here She Comes for a restoration of Metropolis. Hide Your Heart became Bonnie's third album for CBS, produced by Desmond Child. It features several songs that became hits for other artists, including The Best for Tina Turner and Save Up All Your Tears for Cher. In the 90s, Bonnie signed with German label Hansa Records for three albums. The first, Bitterblue, rivaled the success of her career-defining album Faster Than the Speed of Night in some European countries, earning 4x Platinum status in Norway. Her follow-up albums Angel Heart and Silhouette in Red also became Platinum records in parts of Europe. Bonnie reunited with Jim Steinman in 1995 after signing with EastWest Records. She recorded epic cover versions of Making Love (Out of Nothing At All) and Two Out of Three Ain't Bad for her album Free Spirit, which featured the work of top producers including Humberto Gatica, Christopher Neil and David Foster. Her second record with EastWest, titled All in One Voice, arrived shortly before the new milennium. The celtic-influenced pop album was recorded in Dublin and Hamburg, and features a haunting cover of “I Put a Spell on You”, produced by Mike Batt.   In the early 2000s, Bonnie signed a one-off deal with EMI to record Heart Strings, an album of classic rock covers featuring her touring band and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Bonnie recorded her next two pop-rock albums, Simply Believe and Wings, with producers Jean Lahcene and Stuart Emerson. Bonnie received an ECHO Music Prize for ‘Best International Pop/Rock Female Artist' in 1994. She has also received three Goldene Europa awards, three Grammy and BRIT nominations, two AMA nominations and one ACM nomination. She is the recipient of an honorary degree from Swansea University,  and she was presented with a Gold Badge from BASCA (now The Ivors Academy) in 2013. Bonnie has represented the United Kingdom at two international music contests. In 1979, she won the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival with her song ‘Sitting On the Edge of the Ocean'. After competing in the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Believe in Me' in 2013, Bonnie picked up two ESC Radio Awards for ‘Best Song' and ‘Best Singer'. Over and above the timeless tracks that made her a household name, Bonnie has proven her versatility by enjoying a bilingual number one album in France, and performing duets – past collaborators include Vince Gill, Cher, Fabio Jr., Shakin' Stevens and Todd Rundgren. In 2013, she released her country-influenced album Rocks and Honey, recorded at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville with David Huff. In 2019, she released Between the Earth and the Stars, another contemporary record with nods to past moments from her 50-year career. She recorded it with David Mackay, who produced her first two albums back in the 70s. Songwriters include long-time collaborators Kevin Dunne, Brian Cadd and Stuart Emerson, with new contributions from Sir Barry Gibb and Amy Wadge. The album also boasts three exciting duets with Rod Stewart, Cliff Richard and Francis Rossi. Her follow-up album The Best Is Yet to Come will arrive in February 2021. The release was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now Bonnie feels ready to celebrate: “I hope these new songs will lift your spirits. I am so happy and proud of this new album. It simply rocks and brings a smile to my face every time I put it on. The moment we can get back on stage and see your smiling faces will be extra special. I promise the best IS yet to come.“

New Wave band Berlin has gone through multiple incarnations during its four-decade tenure, seeing members – including lead singer Terri Nunn – come and go over the years. After Nunn rejoined the band in 1980, the underground success of Berlin's second single led to their debut EP, Pleasure Victim, which spawned the national hit “Sex (I'm A...)” in 1982, followed by “The Metro” the following year. The band's music would go on to be iconic, thanks to the massive success of the Giorgio Moroder written and produced song, “Take My Breath Away,” featured on the soundtrack to the 1986 action film, Top Gun. That song would go on to win both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and has come to the band's defining cut. The band would break up in 1987, and while Nunn would reform the band–sans any other original members–in the late '90s, it wasn't until an episode of VH1's Bands Reunited in 2004 that the group's founding players would get together. However, just last year, fellow founding members John Crawford (bass and synthesizer) and David Diamond (synthesizer and guitar) reunited with Nunn once again for the band's Transcendance album. Now, Berlin–with Crawford, Diamond, and Nunn–release Strings Attached, a re-imagining of many of the band's best-known songs with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. That album is out this Friday from August Day, and it was a real joy to hop on the phone with Nunn to discuss the band's catalog, the new album, and performing once again with Crawford and Diamond.

The English New Wave / dance pop band, Wang Chung, formed in 1980, and rode a wave of success in the mid-'80s, with such hits as "Dance Hall Days," "Everybody Have Fun Tonight," and "Let's Go," along with the soundtrack to William Friedkin's 1986 crime thriller To Live and Die in L.A., as well as "Fire in the Twilight" from the soundtrack to The Breakfast Club. In the decades since, the band's music has become synonymous with the '80s, and featured in dozens of films and TV shows. This Friday, May 10, Wang Chung releases Orchesography, which sees original members Jack Hues and Nick Feldman recording reimagined versions of their classic cuts with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. I spoke with Jack Hues by phone about all this and more.

Oceania at the Royal Academy is the first ever major exhibition in the UK of art from the Pacific. It is very ambitious, showing 200 works from across that vast ocean, from Hawaii to New Zealand, New Guinea to Easter Island. It spans time, too, the earliest piece being about 500 years old, the latest completed last year. A Hawaiian writer, Vanessa Lee Miller, and a western maritime historian, Robert Blyth, assess the exhibition. As the former Britpop band Suede release their eighth studio album, songwriter and lead singer Brett Anderson and bassist Mat Osman discuss The Blue Hour and their exploration of new sounds, including Brett's own field recordings and the spoken word, as well as working with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. How do crime writers gain knowledge of the police to inform their writing? John speaks to Peter James, author of the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series of novels, and to crime writer Clare Mackintosh, who worked in the police force for 12 years before becoming an author.Presenter: John Wilson Producer: Julian May

"It creates a very varied sound," agreed Marcela Bovio, one of a handful of vocalists that makes up Mayan's sound. "We have five vocalists in total but we all have very different sounds so the palate is very, very wide. I think it also makes the live experience more interesting because we are jumping on and off stage like a little tag team (laughs). One will be busy and giving it their all and then they get off and the next one comes along so it also creates a very dynamic and explosive performance. The whole experience is just so much fun!"In the full interview Marcela discusses Mayan's upcoming album 'Dhyana', the concept behind it, the addition of The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra on the album and the different things the band has to adjust to when writing and performing with an orchestra, more on the dynamics of having so many vocalists, her role in the band when she joined in 2014 and how that has grown since then, how the band has changed musically over the years and more.

Rock N Ramble with Lucia And Glynn Episode 1 with Xavier Boscher, Tripod, and NewClue Hello everyone, my name is Lucia of www.luciaandglynn.com a local celebrity who loves to travel and loves to listen to local music from around the world. Since we are out of local NEPA music to share, we are continuing down our list of MusicSubmit.Com artists to unleash to the masses. In this episode we will play one song each from Xavier Boscher, Tripod, and NewClue Let’s start off with Xavier Boscher from France: Xavier Boscher is a French pop-rock-prog-metal artist who has released many albums since 1999. For himself and other projects (Nebuleyes, Misanthrope, Continuum, Déborah Hofer, Mlle Julie, Mon ami Mío, Michael Resin, Benjamin Karmer and more…) He is known as composer, guitar player, producer, singer and writer. After 8 albums relayed by the US media; a new album in which the artist will focus all its multiple influences is announced at the end of 2016 Here’s Le corps des femmes from the album Album: Pentagramme … Next up Tripod from trondheim, sør trøndelag, Norway: The Norwegian rockers, Tripod, find themselves in between the two worlds of stoner metal and grunge rock, making them twice as soothing to take in. Groovy and catchy riffs, with amazing vocals. With killer live performances, heavy drums and a rumbling bass, the quintet is trying to take back the raw purity that once existed. Since the release of their debut album “Nevermind This Black Album” in 2008, including hits like “Another Monday” and “Tomorrow”, the band has been delivering their massive sound to the masses. After touring Norway, they started working on their second album. The album “Four Coins”(2012) was released in China, as well as Norway. Mixed by legendary producer Beau Hill (Alice Cooper, Ratt, Warrant and more). “Catchy tunes that rocks your balls off!” (“Four Coins”: 7/10) – Icon Music Mag “With the song “Jack and Blood” Tripod manages to bring back Kurt Cobain from the grave!” “Efficient and well played” –Firdaposten “Amazing songs, which they exploit to the max in their live performances.” -IMM. After touring Norway and China with “Four Coins” they started once again to work on songs for their next album. The summer of 2013 Tripod recorded a new album in legendary Sono Records, outside of Prague, Czech Republic. This was the first album to include new guitar player Jørgen Berg (ex-Torch). The album also featured Apollon Quartet (members from Prague Philharmonic Orchestra) and Norwegian solo artist Martine Rygvold. The album will be released in 2014. Tripod’s sound is now even more massive than before. Heavier! Rougher! Keeping the purity of 90’s grunge and metal intact.   Last but not least: New Clue New London, Connecticut, USA NOSTALGIC METAL REBORN with a NewClue Sure, we all have our bumps in life, but NewClue has been through the trenches. As formed in the very late 80’s, (and after about 6 years) all disbursed and went their separate ways. Neil (the vocalist) almost died, when he slammed his motorcycle into a telephone pole back in 2000. With TBI, he had to learn to walk & talk (as well as sing) all over again. With the reformation of yesteryear’s "NoClue", the band rejoined into today’s "NewClue". The guys came back, full circle. Neil's heartwarming story, and his willingness to never give up on a dream, fueled the fire and sparked the embers for pure passion and the love for music. Here’s Mystic Winds by NewClue from the album Album: Mystic Winds --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/luciaandglynn/support

It's Otto Preminger's turn to be Mr. Freeze! Why does his version keep saying "wild"? What aspects of this version are better than the George Sanders version, and which are worse (aside from his demeanor on the set)? The script itself has more than its share of head-scratchers, as well as some bits of comedy (and camp) gold. And, wait... are there references in this arc to the 1940 film His Girl Friday? This episode, we go up against an in-office blizzard, an arm-injuring explosion, and worst of all... a little boy's "boo". PLUS: the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra's version of the theme, and a new iTunes review (have you written yours yet?)!

Grab your hip waders--this month, we slog our way into the murky depths of 70's schlock documentary waters with a little nugget of paranoia from the Pacific Northwest called "Overlords of the UFO".  Supposedly banned and suppressed for decades (but now somehow available for free on YouTube), this film was the brainchild of reporter W. Gordon Allen, who struggles mightily with not only the conspiracies he perceives are working to keep the truth of "The UFO" away from the public, but also grammar, sentence structure, and basic logic as he pontificates through this film like a latter-day Criswell.  Also featuring an appearance by noted charlatan and spoon-bender Uri Geller.
