2 Samuel 11 describes David's sin and how far David has fallen from being a man after God's own heart. It also shows however that God's grace is big enough for the sinner but also for those sinned against. (Trigger warning as this message touches on issues of sexual violence and assault. )

Is divorce a sin? What does God really think about divorce, agency, and staying in difficult marriages? In this deeply honest episode, I'm talking about one of the biggest fears many Christians and Latter day Saints wrestle with during divorce: “Am I disappointing God if I leave my marriage?” For years, many of us were taught that divorce should never be an option. But what happens when staying in a marriage begins destroying your emotional, spiritual, or mental wellbeing? What happens when fear, betrayal, disconnection, or dysfunction become the emotional climate of your home? In this episode, we explore: • What the phrase “God hates divorce” really means • The difference between sacrifice and self abandonment • Why agency matters in marriage • How fear and religious shame keep people stuck • Emotional adulthood vs emotional childhood • Patterns of betrayal, honesty, and accountability • How to approach divorce decisions with God instead of panic • Why divorce is painful, but not proof of spiritual failure • How to seek peace, truth, and discernment in difficult relationships This episode is not about encouraging divorce, and it's not about condemning marriage. It's about learning how to make honest, prayerful decisions with God while honoring truth, agency, and emotional health. If you're navigating divorce, questioning your marriage, or trying to rebuild your faith after heartbreak, you are not alone. You can schedule a Reclaim Your Joy Strategy Session You can also access the new Find the Joy App through Find the Joy with Jenn where you'll find exclusive content, encouragement, discounts on courses and programs, and the opportunity to submit personal questions about your divorce situation for guidance and support. (This podcast was previously published on July 29, 2021)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...   James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.   A friend is one who supports you in that which you are doing.   ***   Recently a woman asked me:  "Do you support Gays and Lesbians?"   My reply:  "No!"   And I sent the following scripture and several other scriptures to her.   Romans 1:26-28  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:   27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.   28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;   (I sent to her scriptures from both Old and New Testaments and told her, "This is God's view of homosexuals and lesbians and I support God's view of homosexuals and lesbians.")   This woman has not come to my house to "visit" since I responded to her.   If the unbeliever depart, let him depart.   This is the best way I know to separate in peace from the unbeliever, speak God's truth on the subject at hand when you are with the unbeliever and the subject surfaces.   Also we keep ourselves from being deceived by thinking we can have "fellowship" in the spirit with them when one has the Spirit of God and the other has the spirit of the world and the spirit of the various church denominations.   It is the elect of God we are interested in identifying, for they have the Spirit of God as we do.   ***   Do I support the churches where pastors perform wedding ceremonies between a divorced woman and a man?   I do not support these churches for Jesus said:  "Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."   (Matthew 5:32  Jesus says:  But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.)   ***   Do I support churches where they teach the divorced woman that she can remarry?   "No."  Multiple scriptures show that the divorced woman who remarries while her husband is still living is an adulteress.   Romans 7:2-3  For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.   3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.   I Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.   I Corinthians 7:39  The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.   Mark. 10:6-12  Jesus says:  But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.  7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;  8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.   9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.   10 And in the house HIS disciples asked HIM again of the same matter.   11 And HE saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.   12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. ***    I am a Christian.  I support the elect of God who are born again by the Holy Spirit of God,  those who live by the Bible, and those who demonstrate that they pray and follow the Holy Spirit of God and the Holy Scriptures.   Paul said concerning those who show a form of godliness but deny the power of God, just turn away from such.  That is what I do when I encounter such persons.  (2 Timothy 3:5)   But if I do encounter them, I speak as the door opens in the conversation to speak, I speak the word of God to them.   ***   Many people love their church buildings and their pastors and their stained glass windows and their choirs but they do not love the Word of God.  By their actions we see they are not of God though they love the religious trappings.  I do not support these persons.    ***   I support the elect of God and live in peace and fellowship with the elect of God.   *****   I believe we must begin to distinguish between "the elect of God" and church goers, for these are not the same.  Many are church goers, putting themselves into the church by their own will.  The elect of God are those persons chosen by God to whom God has revealed HIS truth and they have the Holy Spirit living inside of them.   Notice these scriptures in the New Testament Bible where the term "elect" is used.   2 John 1:13  The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.   Colossians 3:12  Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;   Romans 8:33  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.   Luke 18:7  And shall not God avenge HIS own elect, which cry day and night unto HIM, though HE bear long with them?   2 Timothy 2:10  Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.   Mark 13:22  For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.   Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;   Matthew 24:22  And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.   1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of th Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.   2 John 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;   Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.   Mark 13:20  And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom HE hath chosen, HE hath shortened the days.   Matthew 24:31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.   Mark 13:27 And then shall HE send HIS angels, and shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.    ***   The elect of God are those who are chosen by God and God has revealed HIS truth to them, causing them to be born again by HIS Spirit, and they are changed by God into new creatures immediately.   2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Has this happened to you? Only God can do this. (I suggest you fall down before God asking God to please have mercy on you if you have not had this experience with God.)

Jesus said that there is one sin that won't be forgiven. When people think of the unforgivable sin, they generally have a list of the so-called big and small ones. Things like murder and rape are usually at the top, while gossip and pride are lesser offenses in society's eyes. But the Bible breaks through the confusion and tells us what the unpardonable sin is and how to avoid it. We'll discuss it together in this episode. Please take a moment to rate and subscribe to this podcast. Romans 5:20, "Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more." Sin is not merely the breaking of a rule--it is rebellion against the infinite majesty and holiness of God. It is treason against the sovereign King of Heaven. It is a monstrous defilement of the soul, a willful choosing of darkness over light, a loathing of God's commandments, and a love for what He hates. Sin pollutes every part of our being--our minds are blinded, our hearts are deceitful, our wills are enslaved. Sin makes us loathsome in God's sight, and fit only for eternal judgment. Scripture does not soften the description: we are "dead in transgressions and sins," "children of wrath," "slaves to sin," and "enemies of God." The horror of our sin is not measured by how we see it, but by how God sees it--as that which nailed His beloved Son to the cross! And yet, into that blackness shines a light so glorious that no mind could have imagined it, and no heart could have hoped for it--the grace of God! His grace is unearned, undeserved, and unrepayable. It is His free favor poured out on the utterly un-deserving, ill-deserving and Hell-deserving. Grace finds us filthy, and makes us pure. Grace finds us guilty, and declares us righteous. Grace finds us enemies of God, and makes us His sons and daughters. Nowhere are sin and grace manifested as clearly, than at Golgotha. There, the horror of our sin is exposed in full; for only the blood of the sinless Son of God could make atonement for it! His groans, His wounds, His forsakenness--all cry out against our guilt. At Golgotha also, the wonder of grace shines brightest. Jesus bore our sin, that we might bear His righteousness. He was cursed, that we mig

Harnessing Divine Memory and Imagination

Unlocking Divine Potential Through Positive Memory and Imagination I. Introduction and Core Thesis The central message of this sermon revolves around the idea that believers possess everything they need for "divine healing, divine deliverance, favor, prosperity, perfection" within their spirit, which is where the Holy Ghost resides. The key to "releasing everything you have in your spirit" and experiencing a "forceful, powerful, and supernatural" life is a positive and God-centered use of memory and imagination. The speaker emphasizes that God desires to teach believers how to utilize these faculties in alignment with His thinking, moving away from dwelling on past regrets or future anxieties. II. Key Concepts and Themes A. The Spirit as the Source of All Divine Provision Indwelling of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Ghost, healing, the voice of God, and the power of the resurrection all reside "in your spirit." "Everything You Need": Citing 2 Peter 1, the sermon asserts, "I've given you everything you need for life and godliness. Well, I can tell you it's all in your spirit. Favor, prosperity, perfection, it's all there." Rivers of Living Water: The goal is to move from a "trickle and a drip" to a "forceful, powerful, and supernatural" flow, referencing Jesus' statement about "rivers of living water" flowing from one's "belly" (spirit). B. The Power of Memory and Imagination (Hebrew: Yet) Positive Memory as a Key: A significant portion of the sermon highlights the importance of using memory "in a positive way." This is presented as "a real key to releasing everything you have in your spirit." Avoiding "What-ifs" and "If-onlys": The speaker strongly discourages living in past regrets or hypothetical scenarios ("if only I would have done this," "what if I was born into a rich family"). "God is a today God." Imagination as Mental Image and Faith's Partner:The Hebrew word yet (translated as "thoughts" in 1 Chronicles 29:18 and "frame" in Psalm 139:15) is presented as referring to imagination. Imagination is defined as "the power of forming a mental image that is not yet present." It is directly linked to faith and hope: "This is what faith is. Faith is being sure of what you hope for. Hope is like the switch that turns on faith... Faith works with hope to produce a positive image of yourself. You're not going to be healed unless you see yourself in your mind healed." Vision and Purpose: "Where there is no vision, the people perish." God desires everyone to have a "purpose in life, a vision, some type of a calling." This ties back to the Catholic Catechism's purpose for humanity: "to know him, to love him, and to serve him in this world." C. Communion as a Tool for Positive Memory and Healing Remembering Christ's Sacrifice: Taking communion is presented as an act of remembering Jesus' "sacrifice," "finished works," and the reality of being "forgiven... healed... whole." Healing is the Children's Bread: The sermon emphasizes that "healing is the children's bread," citing the Corinthians' premature deaths due to their inability to "discern the body of the Lord" as healing. Practical Application: Communion can be taken "every day," even "three times a day," and does not require a church setting. Each instance has a "tangible presence of God" and "puts you in a status of Christ consciousness, not sin consciousness." Testimony of Healing: The speaker shares a personal testimony of his daughter's tumor disappearing after one cancer treatment, attributing it to taking communion and remembering Jesus' finished work. D. The Battle of the Mind and Overcoming Negative Imagination/Strongholds Imagination's Dual Nature: While powerful for good, imagination can be used negatively (e.g., Noah's time, Tower of Babel). Strongholds and Casting Down Imaginations: Strongholds are "something in your mind that occupies your thoughts, something that's just all consuming" (e.g., fear, hatred, anger). The battle is in the mind, and believers are called to "pulling down of strongholds... casting down imaginations... bringing thought every thought into captivity to obedience to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Paul's Example of Forgetting the Past: Paul, despite his past as a murderer of Christians, exemplified forgetting "about the things that are behind" and pressing forward, knowing he was forgiven. Thinking Like God: "As a man thinks in his heart, so he is." Believers are encouraged to "begin to think the way God thinks" by focusing on "whatsoever things are true, are noble, are lovely, are good, are excellent, are praiseworthy" (Philippians 4:8) and setting their minds "on things above, not on the things of the earth" (Colossians 3:1-2). Controlling Emotions through Positive Memory: Recalling a negative memory (like an Italian family member's 30-year grudge) illustrates how negative memories control emotions. Thanksgiving is presented as a powerful tool: "Thanksgiving will free you from every toxic emotion." God's Perspective on Memory: "You will keep him in perfect peace. Him whose mind [imagination] is stayed or focused on you." God's thoughts are not our thoughts; His ways are higher (Isaiah 55). E. God's New Covenant and His Forgiving Nature Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness: Under the New Covenant, God's nature is characterized by "grace," "mercy," and "forgiveness." The law made people "sin conscious"; Jesus made us "grace conscious" and "Christ conscious." God's Forgiveness of Sin: God's forgiveness is complete and eternal. "I will be merciful to their unrighteousness... and their sins, and their lawless deeds, I will remember no more." This means God "blotted it out of his memory." God Remembers Only the Good: At the judgment seat of Christ, God will remember only the "gold, with silver, and with precious stones" (redemptive, blessing actions) and burn away the "wood, hay, and stubble" (negative things). Believers are encouraged to emulate this and "remember only the good things of the past." God's Unconditional Love: "Father, you love them [disciples], As much as you love me." God's love is "beyond our belief, beyond our imagination." F. God's Foresight and Orchestration of Life Predestined Purpose: Psalm 139:15-16 is interpreted to mean that God "wrote everything in a book before you were born." He has "perfect foreknowledge without control," knowing when a person will choose Him and orchestrating their life accordingly. Imitating God: Believers are called to "be imitators of God as his dear children and walk in love as Christ also has loved us" (Ephesians 5:1). This means thinking and acting like Him. G. New Testament Laws (Laws of the Spirit) The sermon clarifies that "we're not under the law" of the Old Testament (10 Commandments, dietary laws, Sabbath), as they were "nailed to the cross." Instead, there are New Testament "laws" written in the mind and heart: Law of Love: "Love one another as I have already loved you" (John 13). Laws of Giving: "Give and it shall be given unto you." God desires prosperity to be a blessing to others. Law of Liberty: "Stand fast in the liberty where Christ has set us free." Not burdened by the "yoke of slavery." Law of Faith: (Romans 3:28) Not "name it and claim it." "Faith without works is dead." It requires action. Based on God's promises. Believing "they've received before you even get it." Looks back at "the finished work of Christ. It's already done." God speaks from the "inside out," not the "outside in," often through "thoughts and impressions" in one's own "vernacular." "Faith has a voice. It speaks. It's not silent. It speaks. It declares." Believers should "speak to the problem," not just tell God about it. H. Benefits of the New Covenant (Psalm 103 as Prophecy) Psalm 103 is presented as a prophetic psalm about the "finished work of Christ," not fully applicable to David in his time. "Don't forget all his benefits":"Who forgives all your iniquities." (Unlike the Old Testament's temporal forgiveness). "Who heals all your diseases." (Jesus' stripes healed us; healing is part of the atonement, "it's in your spirit"). "Who redeems your life from destruction." (Crossing from death to life; spirit is "impenetrable" by sin). "Who crowns you with loving kindness, which is the word hesed, which is grace. And he crowns you with mercy." Goodness and mercy "shall follow me all the days of my life." "Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like an eagle's." This refers to speaking life and experiencing renewed strength, effortlessly soaring like an eagle by "waiting upon the Lord." III. Practical Applications and Call to Action Daily Communion: Actively engage in communion as a daily practice to remember Christ's finished work and activate healing. Control Your Thoughts: Be intentional about focusing your mind on God's truth, positive images, and His character. Cast down negative imaginations and strongholds. Practice Thanksgiving: Cultivate a spirit of gratitude to overcome toxic emotions. Speak to Your Problems: Use your voice to declare God's will and truth over challenging situations, not just tell God about them. Live in the Present: Embrace the "I am" nature of God by focusing on "this moment" rather than past regrets or future fears. Document God's Work: Keep a "book of remembrance" of all the times God has supernaturally intersected your life. Seek Help When Needed: While God is supernatural, if struggling for years, seek help from those with spiritual gifts (visions, prophetic, word of knowledge) who can "lift you from the realm of doubt into a point of reception." IV. Distinguishing the Old and New Covenants The sermon frequently contrasts the Old Testament (law, temporary forgiveness, sin consciousness, God not forgiving all iniquities/healing all diseases) with the New Testament (grace, permanent forgiveness, Christ consciousness, complete healing, God's indwelling in the spirit). Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. And a big shout-out today to Michael Forte from Astoria, OR. Michael, thank you for being a part of this movement through Project23. You are making a difference for the Gospel. This one's for you. Today, we're looking at Mark 3:28-30: “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” — Mark 3:28-30 This text contains one of the most sobering statements Jesus ever made. He begins with an incredible promise: “All sins will be forgiven… even blasphemies.” There's real hope in that. No sin is too big for God to redeem. No past is too messy. But it's followed by a serious warning: “Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness.” So, what is this unforgivable sin? Understanding the context is key. The religious leaders were witnessing Jesus perform undeniable works of God—and claiming they came from Satan. They weren't confused. They were willfully rejecting the truth. They were crediting the Spirit's power to the enemy himself. That's not simple disbelief—it's deliberate rejection. Persistent hardness. A refusal to acknowledge the Spirit's witness about Jesus. This warning isn't for the tender believer who fears they've lost salvation. It's a line drawn for those whose hearts have completely closed themselves off to the truth—after seeing it clearly. The unforgivable sin isn't a moment of doubt—it's a life of denial. It's not a stumble—it's a hardened stand. So if you're worried you've committed the unforgivable sin—you haven't. That concern is evidence the Spirit is still working on your heart. But this is a warning worth heeding. We need to stay soft to the Spirit at all times. When He convicts—listen. When He draws—respond. Because the longer we resist, the easier it is to grow calloused. We all have the tendency to slide into judgmentalism and legalism—attitudes that resist the Spirit and reject the grace of the Father and the Son. So listen when the Spirit calls today. Don't harden your heart. Keep saying "yes" to the voice of God. ASK THIS: When has conviction prompted you to respond or resist? What attitudes or beliefs tend to harden your heart against the Spirit? How do you recognize the Spirit's gentle voice in your daily life? In what areas do you need to say yes to the Spirit's prompting? DO THIS: When the Spirit convicts you today, repent immediately to keep your heart soft. PRAY THIS: Father, thank you for forgiving every sin through Jesus. Keep my heart soft to the Spirit and help me say yes when he convicts me. Amen. PLAY THIS: Softly and Tenderly.

At our 5-hour prayer meeting, Overturn, Pastor Nelson shared a powerful charge on Hindrances to prayer: 1. Selfish Motives – Praying with self-centered desires places us at the center instead of God. 2. Unbelief – God gives freely, but we must ask in faith. The issue isn't His giving, but our receiving. 3. Under-Praying / Spiritual Warfare – Like Elijah and Jesus, we must persist in prayer. Don't quit too soon. 4. Sin – God accepts the man before the sacrifice. Cain's offering lacked what Abel's had—purity. Don't come before God with strife or unrepentant sin.Prayer is not time wasted, but time invested.

He highlights that the purpose of studying biblical characters' sins is to understand our own sin and overcome it with the power of God. Strachan offers five reflections on the restoration of Peter and how it shapes our ongoing discipleship with Jesus Christ. He emphasizes the need for a gracious approach to addressing sin, the importance of embracing accountability and honesty, and the necessity of focusing on love and recognizing God's sovereignty in our lives.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Email us at podcast@pursueGOD.org.Donate Now --God Created the Universe Out of NothingGod is eternal, but everything else is created. So at some point, God decided to create. We read about this in the very first verse of the Bible.Genesis 1:1 (NLT) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. At one moment, there was nothing. Then immediately, something existed. God began to shape and form creation, as we find in the rest of Genesis 1. The universe wasn't an accident. God put it here, and he created it for a purpose. Creation teaches us about the glory of God and the majesty of God. It also tells us that we're not here by accident. That's the next point in the story of the Old Testament.God's Plan for Relationship with Humanity Was Ruined by SinGod made us to be connected to him and connected to each other. This is a fundamental aspect of what it means to be human. The Bible also says that humans are created in the image of God - something that is unique to humanity.Genesis 1:27-28 (NLT) So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”God put us on this earth to take care of his creation and reflect his image. But sadly, sin ruined everything. It didn't take very long before the first humans - Adam and Eve - sinned. They went their own way. They didn't listen to God. The result was a terrible problem for humanity, and in fact, for all of creation. In fact, the connection we experience with God, and even with other people, was wrecked because of sin. But thankfully, God wasn't done with the human race! God had a plan to rescue the world, a plan he had decided upon before the creation of the world. That plan began to reveal itself in the Old Testament through a man named Abraham. All of this is introduced in the Book of Genesis, which opens the Old Testament. Genesis describes the beginning of everything. It describes not only the creation of the world and of human beings; but also the fall of humanity into sin and the effects of sin in human experience. Genesis leads up to and includes the story of Abraham, his family and his descendants. The Book of Job also comes from this timeframe. It is not about Israel or Abraham, but reflects on the power and compassion of God. God Gave Abraham Three Important PromisesIn Genesis 12, we find one of the most important passages in the entire Bible. This passage, in fact, sets up everything that comes after it in the rest of the Bible. In these verses, God...
