Send us a text✨ Grab Adriana's free Human Design 101 guide here!Today's the day! The Magnetic Rebellion, my new community, has officially launched! ⚡️ I always said I would never put a brand or a company title before my name — but here we are!To celebrate and to give you a little backstory on the genesis of The Magnetic Rebellion, in this episode I'm talking with Mariah Magazine and Shay Schindler, co-hosts of the podcast Curiously Guided.Mariah (1/3 Sacral Generator and Cancer sun / Pisces moon / Sagittarius rising) and Shay (2/4 Projector and Pisces sun / Scorpio moon / Cancer rising) beautifully balance spirituality and energetics with business and strategy in everything they do.And it's their guidance that helped me truly understand the need for this new community and what people need as they're going through their spiritual journey.I wanted a more expansive community, a place where people can find others to lean on spiritually and where we can collectively learn about systems, beliefs, universal laws, and all the things that put us in flow.People have been asking me for something like this for a while and I couldn't find a place that already existed — so I created it!In this episode, we're not just talking about The Magnetic Rebellion, but having a big conversation on what it means to be curiously guided and what we've learned as we've experimented.Stuff like:why it's easier to grow in community, because there's only so much you can reflect back to yourself“magic in the mundane” and how growth is happening every second whether or not you're conscious of it (because it's not always an epiphany about fulfillment and finding your purpose)why money isn't the goal (for us) and how we support ourselves by showing up with our spiritual giftsand an honest rant of what we're sick of in the spiritual growth / membership community space, so buckle in!Mariah and Shay are so good at nailing down their feelings on how to connect with spirit on a daily basis and the deeply individual journey that this is for all of us. While many spiritual teachers are held in high regard for their wisdom, leadership positions are still overwhelmed by those who've failed to address complex trauma in their personal histories. In this episode of Transforming Trauma, Emily speaks with Jac O'Keeffe, President and founding member of the Association for Spiritual Integrity (ASI), an organization committed to bringing higher levels of integrity to the culture of spiritual leadership. The pair discuss Jac's educational and spiritual evolution, the role of empathy and accountability within ASI's anti-authoritarian model, and the link between agency, trauma healing, and personal divinity. About Jac O'Keeffe: Jac O'Keeffe is a theology graduate from the Pontificate University of Ireland with postgraduate studies in adult education. Working as an independent spiritual teacher for more than 15 years, she guides people in the unfoldment of their own spiritual journey. In her books, teachings, talks and retreats, she supports the empowerment of individuals who are done with bypassing, done with hiding, done with outsourcing their spiritual awakening to gurus. Her books include Born to Be Free and How to Be a Spiritual Rebel. Dr. Emy Tafelski is a badass spiritual rebel whose mission it is to revolutionize how women heal and transform after untethering, shattering loss. In this powerful episode, we explore the possibility of going from loss to transformational healing and wholeness. Emy shares vulnerable stories of battling grief and unworthiness inspiring a healing journey of reweaving her life back together better than it ever was before. Drawing from her own successes, she now leads women who have suffered an untethering loss on a journey to reweave their souls into wholeness. About Our Guest: When loss shatters who you are into bits, it opens a portal to healing, to releasing, to reclaiming, to wholeness, if you're willing to walk through it. Dr. Emy Tafelski is a guide in this realm of reweaving your soul into wholeness. After a number of years as a mental health therapist she has turned her attention and expertise toward deeper soul healing. A big part of this work leans into her Divine Feminine Spirituality. Another part of the work is unweaving and releasing the threads of culture that we carry unconsciously within our soul's tapestry. Emy Tafelski has a PhD in psychology with a specialization in consciousness, spirituality, and integrative health. All of her doctoral work was focused on her own healing journey following the shattering loss of her mother (which occurred in her first semester of her doctoral program). She loves fantasy novels and cats (even better when the fantasy novel has cats in it!). She's been through the entire series of Schitt's Creek 8 times and counting. When she's not reading or petting cats, she's likely out riding her motorcycle or deeply engaged in spiritual practice…or both.
Spiritual leadership has been authoritarian for millennia. Perceived as infallible, spiritual teachers were not held accountable. Combine this with an absence of an emphasis on the teacher's personal growth and human evolution, and conditions become ripe for the abuse of power. An indispensable guide for seekers, those in spiritual communities, agnostics, atheists, mystics, and the spiritual-but-not-religious, Spiritual Rebel is for anyone who desires meaningful experiences without having to commit exclusively to one path or fear they might be doing it wrong. The diverse collection of interspiritual practices and resources will inspire the Force within you, by whatever name you call it.
Sarah Bowen is a member of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary's academic staff, Spiritual Directors International, and several recovery communities. She is the best selling author of the award winning book Void if Detached: Seeking Modern Spirituality through my Father’s Old Sermons and newly released follow up title Spiritual Rebel: A Positively Addictive Guide to Finding Deeper Perspective and Higher Purpose. Sarah seeks to help others connect with the higher power of their own understanding, in whatever way is meaningful to each. I just find her words to be way less angry and more sensical than mine so I really hope you embrace this discussion and walk away with some lessons as I did.
We are SO excited to get to chat with Sarah Bowen! One of our listeners, Jeff D., suggested we read Spiritual Rebel. We did. Then Lauren got the bright idea to reach out to the author because we felt we found one of our people! Sarah said so many things that we had said but thought we were the only ones! In our interview, we begin by asking her what it means to be an Interfaith Minister. We talk about the pushback to religious words, specifically God. And of course we talk about the Jedi and the Force. We hope you enjoy the video and even just the audio! Thank you, Sarah, for taking time out of your wild book tour to chat with us on Yoga Rebels. Safe travels. May the force be with you always. And Keep the Rebellion Alive! http://www.thisissarahbowen.com https://www.spiritual-rebel.com

Sarah Bowen talks about her new book Spiritual Rebel: A positively Addictive Guide To Finding Deeper perspective & Higher Purpose www.thisissarahbowen.com Sarah Bowen encourages people to explore their own personal spiritual style, most rooted perspectives, and life purpose. Rather than relying on adherence to a specific belief system, Spiritual Rebel guides readers to clarify the beliefs that are personally meaningful, redefine outdated concepts, mix and match practices, experience connection, and ask curious questions. Designed to create spiritual moments throughout the day, the practices invite healthful and heartful connections to self and others. For instance, on “Wonder-filled Wednesdays” exercises encourage readers to stop and contemplate the brilliance of life all around them. On “Seva Saturdays,” readers are given ideas for practicing selflessness. Each day readers chooses from a range of activities to try out including forest bathing, cat grazing, yawning, looking at art, or mindfully connecting with their community. Navi Gill is a Holistic Wellness educator, Ayurvedic Therapist, bodyworker, Lifestyle Consultant, and a Certified Yoga Teacher and Life Skills Coach. Her journey began as a child when she found herself immersed in books on healing, travel, astronomy, and nature, and began creating herbal remedies in her mother’s kitchen. Her curiosity to regain her family's indigenous healing practices took her back to India, allowing her to find her spiritual path and Ayurveda. It has become her dharma to explore the efforts of generations before her and offer the teachings authentically to those in search of light. When she is not in Vancouver, BC teaching, consulting, and manifesting light, she is globe trekking. Most likely in India with a spicy cup of chai, where she finds the flowers of her soul to grow most beautiful.
Yasmin is a Spiritual Coach and a gifted Psychic, Medium and Healer, Yasmin has helped countless people transform their lives. Her specialist area is in helping people overcome suffering and trauma from abuse. In doing so, Yasmin's clients are able to lead happy and fulfilling lives in their intimate relationships. Yasmin has a no nonsense, direct approach and uses humour and empathy alongside practical coaching accumulated over the last 20 years to remove limiting beliefs and self sabotaging behaviours. Born into an Indian family full of cultural traditions, Yasmin always felt like she didn’t belong. Yasmin ran away from home straight into a series of abusive relationships. Not quite knowing how and why Yasmin kept attracting the same type of destructive behaviours whilst all the while losing who she was. Yasmin suffered from huge low self-esteem, never fitting in anywhere, Yasmin had little value or love for herself – Yasmins confidence was in the gutter. When Yasmin thought it couldn’t get any worse but then in 2012 Yasmin was diagnosed with Cancer – this was her first realisation that her world had to change, Yasmin just didn’t know how. By 2014, in remission from Cancer, Yasmin found herself homeless and facing a major operation to remove a sizeable tumour. A single mum, Yasmin was in a relationship that was not making her happy and financially, spiritually, emotionally, physically bankrupt – Yasmin had nothing left in her and had hit rock bottom. The great thing about hitting rock bottom is that it can’t get any worse – this is where her life really began. Yasmin's surgery was life changing, Yasmin learnt gratitude, love, appreciation and at 44 years old began liking myself – that was new as Yasmin never really liked herself let alone loved herself! The psychic and intuitive gifts she had shut down from childhood reopened and learnt how to channel her new found super powers, heal herself and change her entire life for the better. So if she could do it, why couldn’t Yasmin help others do it? This is where Spiritual Rebel was born. Spiritual Rebel is about learning to embrace a conscious way of living without conforming to what society dictates. To accept your dark and light and actually like it. To embrace who you are and be completely unapologetic about it whilst living a life of happiness. We continue our discussion with spiritual teacher and dharma punk Noah Levine, and cover several more areas of interest, including the traditional Theravada ideal of enlightenment. We also discuss what it looks like to live as a Spiritual Rebel, Revolutionary, and finally a Spiritual Radical. Finally, Noah shares some of his thoughts on ways to engage environmental and political issues from a Buddhist perspective. Far from trying to escape samsara, Noah finds himself more and more interested in taking on the ideals of the Bodhisattva. We finish the dialogue asking Noah whether he thinks the Buddha was a boxers or briefs kind of guy. Be prepared to fall out of your chair (or cushion) in laughter when you hear his reply. This is the 2nd part of a two-part series. Listen to Part 1: Being Human and Suffering Less Along the Way.
