Des vitrines brisées, taguées, des événements interrompus, des salariés injuriés... Ces derniers mois, des dizaines de librairies ont été visées par des actes de vandalisme, des menaces et des intimidations à Paris, Lille, Rennes, Lyon ou Marseille. En toile de fond : le conflit israélo-palestinien, mais également un climat de « guerre culturelle » qui durcit le débat public en France. Devant la façade rose vif de la librairie féministe Violette and Co, dans le XIe arrondissement de Paris, Lu, co-gérante du lieu, observe la vitrine balafrée par des graffitis durant l'été 2025, aujourd'hui recouverte de dessins et d'une poésie. « Cette vitrine-là était dédiée à la Palestine et à l'extrême droite. On a eu deux immenses tags de peinture mélangée à de l'acide sur toute la largeur des vitrines, avec les mots ''Islamo complice'' et ''Hamas violeur''. L'acide creuse le verre, l'inscription restait visible. On a dû changer les deux vitres pour plus de 10 000 euros », raconte-t-elle. Derrière l'apparente convivialité de ce café-librairie, où l'on trouve des ouvrages rares de littérature LGBTQ+, des classiques de l'afro-féminisme ou des essais sur l'antifascisme et les batailles culturelles, l'inquiétude est bien réelle parmi les salariés et salariées. « On a porté plainte début septembre pour les tags, mais aussi pour une campagne de cyberharcèlement : appels téléphoniques menaçants ou insultants, propos misogynes, lesbophobes, homophobes... Des personnes entraient dans la librairie pour crier sur les libraires. Il y a eu des menaces de mort, des menaces de venir brûler la librairie », détaille Lu. Une perquisition inédite Début janvier, la situation a pris une tournure inédite. Violette and Co apprend que sa plainte a été égarée… au moment même où la librairie fait l'objet d'une perquisition policière. « Quand la police est venue, ils ont pris tous les cartons un par un. Ils les ont tous ouverts, ils ont sorti tous les livres », raconte la co-gérante, se remémorant le choc des salariés confrontés à cinq policiers et un procureur. La perquisition visait à saisir un album de coloriage édité en Afrique du Sud, From the River to the Sea, qui raconte la vie quotidienne et l'histoire du peuple palestinien. Un ouvrage qui ne faisait l'objet d'aucune interdiction officielle au moment de sa mise en vente, en juillet 2025, au moment – justement – de la mise en vitrine d'ouvrages liés au conflit israélo-palestinien. L'album n'est plus en stock depuis longtemps, mais il s'était retrouvé au cœur d'une croisade menée par des élus de la droite parisienne sur les réseaux sociaux qui qualifiaient l'ouvrage d'« antisémite ». En novembre 2025, la Commission de surveillance et de contrôle des publications destinées à la jeunesse (CSCPJ) a émis un avis défavorable à l'importation de cet ouvrage. Ni l'éditeur, ni les libraires n'en ont jamais été informés. « On m'aurait dit qu'une librairie serait perquisitionnée pour un livre de coloriage, je n'y aurais pas cru. J'aurais dit : "Peut-être dans l'Amérique de Trump", mais pas en France », confie Lu. Pour la libraire, l'affaire s'inscrit dans un contexte plus global de criminalisation des soutiens à la Palestine, mais aussi d'attaques répétées contre des lieux féministes et LGBTQIA+. « On est à l'intersection de plusieurs choses : la Palestine, les luttes LGBT, le féminisme. Et, ce qui dérange, c'est aussi la convergence des luttes. Les librairies sont des lieux de diffusion des idées, et aujourd'hui, la droite et l'extrême droite mènent une véritable bataille culturelle sur ce terrain », analyse-t-elle. Plusieurs librairies vandalisées À une quinzaine de minutes à vélo, dans le IIe arrondissement de Paris, se trouve la librairie La Petite Égypte. Pour le gérant, Alexis Argyroglo, ses homologues de la librairie Violette and Co subissent « un acharnement politique » dont la perquisition « choquante » est le dernier épisode. « ​​​​​​​C'est le symptôme d'une police politique, manifestement diligentée par des alertes venant du bloc de droite », insiste-t-il. Sa librairie généraliste a également été prise pour cible par un groupuscule d'extrême droite. Le 15 novembre 2025, sa vitrine a été recouverte de tags sexistes et diffamatoires (« ​​​​​​​Albanese, la putain du Hamas ») à l'encontre de Francesca Albanese, rapporteuse spéciale de l'ONU sur les droits humains dans les territoires palestiniens occupés, invitée ce soir-là pour une rencontre autour de son dernier livre Quand le monde dort. Récits, voix et blessures de la Palestine. Les tags étaient signés d'une étoile de David cerclée d'un cœur. Une plainte a été déposée, restée sans suite à ce stade. Dans ce quartier du Sentier, très lié à l'histoire de l'immigration des communautés juives en France, Alexis Argyroglo sait à quel point le sujet est sensible. « Il y a une mémoire, des affects et des positionnements politiques forts. Dès lors que vous proposez des livres qui documentent la réalité de l'occupation en Cisjordanie ou du droit international à Gaza, vous êtes perçu comme “pro-palestinien”, voire hostile », explique Alexis Argyroglo, entre inquiétude et dépit. La Petite Égypte, très engagée contre l'antisémitisme, propose de nombreux ouvrages sur le sujet et a travaillé, entre autres, avec le Mémorial de la Shoah. La profession s'alarme En quelques mois, des dizaines de librairies ont été attaquées. La librairie La Libre Pensée, dans le Ve arrondissement, pour avoir retransmis un colloque sur la Palestine, déprogrammé par le Collège de France. La librairie Transit, à Marseille, pour avoir organisé un événement en présence du collectif juif décolonial Tsedek. La librairie Les Jours Heureux, à Rosny-sous-Bois, en Seine-Saint-Denis, en réaction à la présentation d'un livre de Martin Barzilai sur les refuzniks – des objecteurs et objectrices de conscience refusant de servir l'armée israélienne. Face à ces pressions, le Syndicat de la librairie française (SLF) craint que des librairies plus isolées, en province et dans le milieu rural, s'auto-censurent par peur de représailles. « ​​​​​​​Ce qui est frappant aujourd'hui, c'est que ça touche toutes les librairies, partout en France, et pas seulement Paris », indique Guillaume Husson, délégué général du SLF. Pour lui, ces attaques ne relèvent plus de faits isolés. Elles traduisent un changement profond du rapport au livre, qui n'est plus « sanctuarisé » dans un contexte de « décomplexion » de la violence. « ​​​​​​​Les librairies sont des lieux où cohabitent des idées différentes. Le jour où on n'accepte plus ça, on a un vrai problème pour la survie de notre démocratie », insiste-t-il. Le SLF juge également la posture des pouvoirs publics vis-à-vis de Violette and Co incohérente et dangereuse. « ​​​​​​​C'est une librairie agressée à plusieurs reprises par des groupuscules d'extrême droite, qui aurait besoin d'être protégée et accompagnée, pas perquisitionnée », s'indigne Guillaume Husson, qui invoque par ailleurs des irrégularités juridiques. Suite à l'avis défavorable à l'importation, aucun arrêté ministériel n'a été pris par le ministère de la Culture pour interdire le livre de coloriage incriminé. Celui-ci n'était donc pas légalement proscrit au moment de la perquisition. Plus largement, se pose la question d'une « censure de circonstance » : « ​​​​​​​J'invite chacun à lire cet album. Il ne répond en rien aux critères permettant d'interdire un livre : la haine, la haine raciale, la discrimination, l'antisémitisme. C'est un livre engagé, militant, mais on peut être militant sans promouvoir la haine », estime Guillaume Husson. Quand l'affaire devient politique Dans un contexte de fortes tensions politiques autour du conflit israélo-palestinien, la droite parisienne – le groupe Changer Paris, coprésidé par la ministre de la Culture Rachida Dati, candidate aux prochaines élections municipales – avait voté en novembre 2025 contre l'octroi de 500 000 euros de subventions aux librairies indépendantes, au prétexte que la librairie Violette and Co avait donc mis en vitrine un livre qualifié d'« antisémite ». Le financement à l'ensemble des 40 librairies parisiennes a finalement été adopté le 18 décembre dans une nouvelle délibération, mais les soutiens politiques restent timides. Plus de 400 librairies, éditeurs, auteurs et collectifs ont alerté sur la multiplication des actes d'intimidation dans une tribune, dénonçant une polarisation de la vie publique qui « ​​​​​​​exacerbe les antagonismes et menace la liberté d'expression ». In today's episode, we talk with Dr. Robyn Underwood of Penn State's Lopez-Uribe Lab. We've invited Robyn as she has researched and written about the Spotted Lantern Fly and how its presence can impact honey production. Have you ever tasted your honey and thought was a bit off, or perhaps… way off?  Maybe even awful?  If you are along the East Coast of the United States and now even parts of the Midwest… check to see if you have the Spotted Lantern Fly in your State and locale. If you do live in an area with the SLF… then what you may be tasting… what your bees may be collecting, is the ‘honey' created from the sweet ‘honeydew' excrement from the this imported leafhopper from China. (Yes, the bees can collect enough of the honeydew to produce frames of SLF ‘honey'…) It is a fascinating discussion of yet another invasive species you need to be aware of. Even if you do not live in one of the 13 states currently dealing with this leafhopper, you should know about it. The SLF is spreading fast, preferring the sweet sap of over 70 different plant species, especially grape plants, maple, and the Tree of Heaven. To add insult to injury, the excremented honeydew, attracts not only honey bees, but other insects including wasps, plus, it builds up and promotes the growth of a dark sooty mold can will cover everything. Sen. Mitch McConnell's anti-establishment super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), plans to spend $141 million on fall campaign ads, Politico reported on Monday. Starting in September, SLF has reserved eight-figure ad flights for North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as well as for Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada, according to Politico.
