The Brass & Unity podcast is an incredible platform that offers a unique perspective on the experiences and struggles of combat veterans. Having served in basic training with Nick, I can personally vouch for his authenticity and genuine nature throughout our training. He was someone I considered a close friend, and it's heartwarming to see him continue to excel in the army. His ability to articulate his thoughts and emotions regarding his military journey is truly commendable.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is Nick's ability to convey the experiences of combat veterans in a way that captures every nuance and emotion. It's evident that he has put a significant amount of thought into each episode, carefully choosing his words to ensure they accurately reflect the complexities of life after serving in the military. This level of honesty and openness is refreshing, as it allows listeners to gain a deeper understanding of what combat veterans go through both during their time in service and beyond.

Furthermore, the podcast also serves as a powerful platform for Nick to shed light on important issues faced by veterans. Whether it's discussing mental health challenges, navigating civilian life, or sharing stories of resilience and triumph, each episode offers invaluable insights into the realities faced by those who have served their country. It's inspiring to hear about individuals like Nick who are using their platforms to bring attention to these topics and make a positive impact in the lives of veterans.

While there are many positive aspects to The Brass & Unity podcast, one area where improvement could be made is the audio quality. Some episodes could benefit from increased microphone gain and a brick wall limiter in order to enhance the overall listening experience. However, this minor issue does not detract significantly from the powerful messages conveyed in each episode.

In conclusion, The Brass & Unity podcast is an exceptional platform that provides valuable insights into the experiences of combat veterans. Appreciating Nick's unique perspective based on our shared training experience adds an extra layer of connection and admiration. The podcast serves as a powerful tool in raising awareness about the challenges faced by veterans and inspiring listeners to make a positive impact in their lives. I highly recommend giving this podcast a listen.

Chaplains cannot say God at Remembrance Day

On July 29, 2026, the Canadian Armed Forces quietly issued a new instruction governing what military chaplains may say during official ceremonies. There was no bill, no parliamentary debate, no committee hearing, and no vote—just a policy document posted to a government website. Four days later, it was already in effect. This episode examines what CAFMPI 03/26 actually says, what changed from the 2023 guidance it replaced, and why I believe the biggest story isn't what most people are arguing about online.I also explain where I think critics have overstated the policy. The instruction does not prohibit chaplains from praying at funerals, conducting religious services, providing private pastoral care, or wearing religious dress. Those claims don't survive a reading of the document, and I don't make them.Instead, I focus on a different question: how guidance became permanent policy, how its scope expanded beyond chaplains, and why I believe Canadians should pay attention when significant changes occur through administrative directives rather than public debate.I also examine one section almost no one is discussing—paragraphs 4.5 through 4.9—and ask why one set of traditions may remain within military ceremonies while another is moved outside them. Finally, I end with the one question I believe deserves a clear public answer before this Remembrance Day:**Does CAFMPI 03/26 apply to a military repatriation (ramp) ceremony?**If the Office of the Chaplain General responds to my written request, I'll publish that response in full, whether it supports my conclusions or not.Every source is linked below.**CHAPTERS**0:00 Nobody voted on this2:30 What changed since 20234:00 What the order says, including Remembrance Day5:30 Where the outrage gets it wrong7:00 How a right actually disappears8:15 Paragraph 4.911:45 The strongest case for the policy13:30 The ceremony that is not in the document14:00What rights are for14:30 The question I want answered before November 11Buy me a coffee! - https://buymeacoffee.com/kelsisherenDo No Harm? - https://www.amazon.com/dp/1683585763?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_SC8YGT87SPJ1VB8SAYP1Let's connect!Substack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenRumble - https://rumble.com/user/TheKelsiSherenPerspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsisherenSUPPORT OUR PEOPLE - - - - - - - - - - - -Ketone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://www.brassandunity.com

An 83-year-old Ontario woman told her family that MAiD conflicted with her Christian faith. She declined. Two months later, according to her family, the discussions restarted while her power of attorney was out of the country, her capacity was assessed in a meeting her family calls a farce, and her application was completed and witnessed by the facility's own staff after the date had already been set. This is a reconstruction of the last ten days of Brigitte "GG" Stegemann, built from her family's written public statement, an 80-minute recorded interview with her granddaughter and power of attorney, and the provisions of Canada's Criminal Code governing medical assistance in dying. The family has formally requested the underlying records — the death certificate, both eligibility assessments, the signed request and the identity of its witness, the medication administration records, and any waiver of final consent. None had been produced at the time of publication. Requests for comment were made to the physician and to the nursing home; neither chose to respond. The practitioners are not named in this episode. Anthony Fauci appeared before the Senate under subpoena on July 29, 2026, and declined to answer the committee's questions, invoking his Fifth Amendment right. He had already received a preemptive pardon from President Joe Biden before any criminal charges had been filed. This episode examines the accountability questions surrounding that decision: what a preemptive pardon actually protects, why Fauci's attorneys still advised him to remain silent, why the committee chairman now says the underlying legal issue has never been tested in court, and why Canada—which used the Inquiries Act to investigate the Emergencies Act—has never opened a national inquiry into its own pandemic response.I also explain where I stand on COVID-19 origins, and why. The FBI, the Department of Energy, and the CIA have all assessed a laboratory origin as the more likely explanation, while China has withheld the records that could help settle the question for six years. Harvard and two Canadian doctors want this rule “reassessed”

A new paper in the New England Journal of Medicine—written by two Canadian critical-care physicians and a Harvard Medical School bioethicist—asks whether the dead donor rule should be "reassessed" for MAiD patients. Specifically, it explores whether organs could be retrieved while a patient is sedated, unconscious, and still alive, with the organ retrieval itself becoming the cause of death. As reported by the National Post, the authors argue that requiring a formal declaration of death before organ retrieval may be "ethically arbitrary," and describe the proposal as "a Pareto improvement: no one would be made worse off."In this episode, we break down:- What the paper actually says, including its important caveats. The authors are not calling for the dead donor rule to be abandoned, no jurisdiction is currently considering this proposal, and they explicitly call for "open, transparent dialogue."- Why this proposal has unmistakable Canadian fingerprints. Canada now leads the world in organ donation after MAiD, with 41 cases in 2021 compared with 20 combined across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain. Since 2016, there have been more than 155 MAiD organ donors in Canada.- The five-minute "no-touch" protocol that currently separates death from organ retrieval, and why some researchers believe it should be reconsidered.- The objections from within the medical ethics community, including bioethicist Lainie Friedman Ross, who told NPR: "Which I think is murder."- The broader pattern: 2016 (terminal illness only), 2021 (terminal illness requirement removed), and March 2027 (mental illness eligibility). The phrase "No one is proposing that" has often meant "not yet published." This proposal is now published in one of the world's leading medical journals.I warned for years that euthanasia and organ donation were on a path toward convergence and was repeatedly told it was misinformation. Now, the discussion is appearing in a peer-reviewed medical journal.SOURCESSharon Kirkey, "'Death by organ donation': Doctors raise possibility of retrieving organs from MAID patients while they are still alive," National Post (July 23, 2026):https://unpublished.ca/news-feed-item/2026-07-23/death-by-organ-donation-doctors-raise-possibility-of-retrieving-organs"Contextualizing the Dead Donor Rule in an Era of Voluntary Euthanasia," New England Journal of Medicine:https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMms2601611NPR – Lainie Friedman Ross interview:https://www.northcountrypublicradio.org/news/npr/nx-s1-5883714/a-new-proposal-for-organ-donation-sparks-concernCanadian Blood Services – Professional guidance on organ donation and MAiD:https://professionaleducation.blood.ca/en/organs-and-tissues/professional-guidance/deceased-donation-after-maidNational Post (prior reporting) – American recipient of a heart from an Ontario ALS patient who died by MAiD:https://ca.news.yahoo.com/american-man-gets-heart-38-110042532.htmlPRE-ORDERDo No Harm?: How the Healthcare Industry Legalized Murder (Skyhorse, March 2027)https://www.amazon.com/dp/151078893XBuy me a coffee! - https://buymeacoffee.com/kelsisherenDo No Harm? - https://www.amazon.com/dp/1683585763?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_SC8YGT87SPJ1VB8SAYP1Let's connect!Substack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenRumble - https://rumble.com/user/TheKelsiSherenPerspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsisherenSUPPORT OUR PEOPLE - - - - - - - - - - - -Ketone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://www.brassandunity.com

Meta's own Advertising Standards state that ads "must not encourage suicide." Yet Canada's largest assisted-dying advocacy organization spent more than $1 million on advertising in 2025—$1,013,241, according to its audited financial statements. During that same period, Meta approved 6,782 of its ads and generated $720,193 in advertising revenue from them. The documents are all public. In this episode, I put them side by side and ask the question many fact-checkers never addressed: How is any of this allowed? The answer comes down to one word—and one legal distinction. MAiD is not classified as suicide under Canadian law. It is not recorded as suicide by Health Canada, nor is it listed that way on death certificates. That distinction changes how the practice is categorized and helps explain why these advertisements are treated differently under existing policies. Also in this episode, we examine the real story behind the viral "All Is Beauty" video. The film is authentic and was produced by Canadian retailer La Maison Simons—not the government or an advocacy organization. We also revisit the story of Jennyfer Hatch, who told CTV News before her death that she felt unsupported by British Columbia's healthcare system. Finally, we follow the money. Sometime this spring, Canada passed an estimated **103,000 Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) deaths** since legalization—and almost nobody noticed.Health Canada's official reports currently run nearly a year behind. The 103,000 figure comes from the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, which compiled the latest official provincial data released across Canada. In this episode, I walk through that methodology, compare Canada's 2016 MAID law with New York's 2026 law line by line, and examine what Canada's experience may mean as more U.S. states debate similar legislation.New York's law is scheduled to take effect next month. Illinois follows on September 12. Massachusetts is expected to vote by July 31. Seventeen U.S. states introduced or debated medical aid-in-dying legislation this year, and roughly one in three Americans already lives in a state where some form of physician-assisted dying is authorized.I also share what happened behind the scenes during my conversation with Tucker Carlson—and why I believe this debate is only beginning.CHAPTERS0:00 — 103,000: the number few people heard about1:00 — Why this channel tracks the data1:20 — Canada's 2025 numbers, province by province2:45 — Canada's 2016 law vs. New York's 2026 law8:00 — Promises vs. outcomes10:00 — A word from our sponsors10:30 — Inside the room with Tucker Carlson15:00 — Who's counting? But there is also a larger question about who gets to make decisions for minors and where parents fit into that process.Canada's legal system can recognize a young person as capable of consenting to medical treatment under the mature minor doctrine. Business investment has now declined for five straight quarters, while more Canadians are struggling with housing costs, rising grocery bills, and a cost of living that continues to outpace many household budgets. These two stories dominated the same week. This episode asks a simple question:How does the government decide where Canada's money should go; and do those priorities reflect what Canadians are experiencing at home? We'll examine the numbers, the government's own announcements, and what leading economic indicators are saying about the country's direction. Canada had already identified the Bishnoi network as a banned criminal organization. So why did it still take months—and in some cases years—for deportation proceedings and enforcement actions to catch up?This episode examines the timeline behind one of Canada's most troubling organized crime investigations, from the attack on AP Dhillon's home to questions surrounding visa screening, deportation delays, and coordination between federal agencies. In this episode, Kelsi breaks down:→ How members connected to the Bishnoi network entered Canada through legal immigration pathways→ The timeline leading from criminal convictions to deportation orders→ Why a deportation hearing was delayed after officials temporarily lost track of a convicted offender already in custody→ What the government's own documents say about the network's activities in Canada→ The questions Canadians should be asking about visa screening, enforcement, and institutional accountabilityThis isn't about blaming an entire community. The government's own documents state that many of the network's victims were members of the Indo-Canadian community. This episode examines whether Canada's institutions responded quickly enough—and whether the systems responsible for screening, tracking, and removing serious offenders are working as intended. All primary sources, including CBC reporting and Government of Canada documents, are linked below.Buy me a coffee! - https://buymeacoffee.com/kelsisherenLet's connect!Rumble - https://rumble.com/user/TheKelsiSherenPerspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsisherenSubstack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenSUPPORT OUR PEOPLE - - - - - - - - - - - -MasterPeace - 10% off with code KELSI - https://www.MasterPeace.Health/KelsiKetone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://www.brassandunity.com

Years ago, I sat down with Jon Bernthal for a conversation that was never released. Now, we're sharing the final chapter. In Part 3 of this three-part series, Jon and I reflect on what comes after military service, the lessons learned through adversity, and the experiences that ultimately shaped the path ahead. What began as a conversation about service and deployment evolves into a broader discussion about purpose, healing, leadership, identity, and the challenges of rebuilding life after profound experiences. We talk about the realities many veterans face when transitioning home, the search for meaning after leaving the military, and the people, relationships, and moments that can change the course of a life. It's an honest conversation about resilience, growth, and finding a way forward when the mission changes.Although this interview was recorded years ago, the themes remain as relevant today as they were when we first sat down. Questions of purpose, belonging, responsibility, and healing continue to affect veterans, first responders, and countless others navigating life after difficult experiences. This conversation was never intended to be a polished presentation or a carefully crafted message. It's simply two people talking openly about service, struggle, recovery, and the lessons that come from living through challenging chapters of life. For years, this interview remained on the shelf.Today, we're sharing the final installment. This is Part 3 of a previously unreleased conversation with Jon Bernthal.Part 3 of 3.- - - - - - - - - - -Buy me a coffee! - https://buymeacoffee.com/kelsisherenLet's connect!Rumble - https://rumble.com/user/TheKelsiSherenPerspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsisherenSubstack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenSUPPORT OUR PEOPLE - - - - - - - - - - - -MasterPeace - 10% off with code KELSI - https://www.MasterPeace.Health/KelsiKetone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://www.brassandunity.com

We talk about the experiences that shape people in uniform, the challenges many veterans face when they return home, and the often difficult process of finding purpose beyond military service. This part of the conversation explores the transition from soldier to civilian, the relationships that carry us through difficult periods, and the lessons that stay with us long after the uniform comes off. We also discuss resilience, accountability, personal growth, and the moments that force us to reevaluate who we are and where we're headed.Although this interview was recorded years ago, many of the themes remain just as relevant today. Three months later she crossed and refused to call one. This isn't politics. This is betrayal with a press release attached.I'm breaking down what this means, why accountability in Canadian politics is becoming a joke, and what voters in Sarnia-Lambton deserve that they're not getting.

Not because I lack compassion. Because I live in Canada — where we started with the same 'narrow, safeguarded' bill in 2016. By 2024 we were killing 16,499 people a year. Mark Carney announced $51 billion in infrastructure spending last week. In the same week, Ottawa cancelled a $12 million housing deal with Red Deer, Alberta — a city that had completed every federal requirement, eliminated restrictive zoning, reduced permitting times, cut development fees, and finished public consultation. Ottawa cancelled the deal because Red Deer's community said no to one blanket zoning requirement after proper democratic process. When Toronto did the same, the deal was maintained. That gap — between what this government announces and what actually reaches Canadians — is where tax dollars disappear. In this episode, Kelsi Sheren covers:— What the $51 billion announcement actually contains and what questions it doesn't answer— The full Red Deer Housing Accelerator Fund story and what it reveals about federal housing policy— Why announcement culture is the real accountability crisis in Canadian federal politics— Five specific things that real accountability architecture would require— The pattern of governance that Canadians need to understand and demand better fromThe Kelsi Sheren Perspective covers Canadian political accountability and federal spending — daily.
