In this podcast, Kushal speaks with Daniel Bordman about two separate topics. They start the podcast by talking about two Canadian Michaels. In 2018, Canada apprehended Huawei's top financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, who is also the daughter of the Chinese tech giant's founder, in response to an American warrant claiming fraud. The problem worsened when China arrested two Canadians, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, on spying allegations within days. The Western world rallied with Canada, claiming that the two Michaels' arrests were nothing more than Chinese reprisals. However, a report in Canada's 'Globe and Mail' citing two individuals claims Spavor is now suing Ottawa for multi-million-dollar compensation amid charges that he was "unwittingly" made an espionage agent. They then talk about the controversy surrounding the Hanuman Idol that will be built in Khalistani den Brampton, which has seen countless anti-India and anti-Hindu acts. On social media, the Hanuman statue provoked Hinduphobic insults. Many people grumbled about the statue's "in your face" size, while others urged for an immediate halt to all immigration into Canada. The nearly finished Hanuman statue will be revealed on Hanuman Jayanti in April of next year. Two Canadian entrepreneurs, Tyler Dyck, Co-Founder & COO, and Brandon Goode Co-Founder & CEO, have partnered with global leaders in the mental health space to solve a growing issue in Canada. Despite the increasing ubiquity of antidepressants, their use cases, treatment durations, and side effects are widely misunderstood. The drugs have undoubtedly helped many Canadians facing anxiety and depression (candidly, including myself), but a sharp rise in long-term use (treatment guidelines say they are only supposed to be used for six-to-nine months!) has led to a growing problem: people don't know how to get off of them safely—and no one is talking about it. When Tyler Dyck decided he wanted to discontinue his antidepressants after years of treatment, he was met with a lack of information and resources surrounding withdrawal and ended up yo-yo-ing, much to the detriment of his mental and physical health. He found a major gap in recommendations he was receiving from doctors, psychiatrists, and psychologists, and chatted about this with his former colleague Brandon Goode, whose background in the healthcare space had him investigating similar issues. They quickly realized that there was no existing solution to a major issue more and more of their loved ones were facing. Together with world-leading scientists and healthcare professionals, they created Outro Health, the first patient-focused, science-based off-ramp for antidepressants, which just launched in Canada. Outro's user-friendly platform provides science-based, personalized tapering plans to slowly reduce medication dosage. It also provides proactive symptom monitoring, one-on-one chats and video appointments with practitioners trained specifically in safely stopping antidepressants, and a patient-first approach that minimizes the risk of relapse and maximizes the chance of successful tapering. When millions of people around the world tuned in to watch Saturday's broadcast of the coronation ceremony of King Charles, one of them was Manitoba's lieutenant governor, the Hon. Anita Neville. Neville felt a particular attachment to the new sovereign—and not just because her job is to represent the King in her province. Neville had, just weeks earlier, flown to London for an in person tete-a-tete with her new boss at Buckingham Palace. They talked about the environment, Indigenous Canadians and the inner workings of the coronation ceremony itself. “I think he's going to be a very fine King,” Neville declared. Meanwhile, Ontario's only Jewish cabinet minister, Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, found himself facing the same dilemma as other observant Jews in public office. The coronation was being held on a Saturday, and Kerzner had to keep Shabbat while attending an official ceremony in Toronto to mark the coronation. Kerzner and Neville join _The CJN Daily _to share their royal experiences. Two Canadian explorers Mike and Wade travelled to remote location accessible only by boat. They went all the way to British Columbia in Canada to witness what was left from small town of Anyox constructed in 1912. In the mid 1920's the town of Anyox reached a population of 3000 with each home being supported by electricity and hot water from hydroelectric plant. In the early 1920s dam engineer John S. Eastwood designed the dam and it became the tallest dam in Canada at that time. Two podcast guests shared their story of traveling to abandoned town of Anyox and they described what this journey was like and how was it to explore this unique location. On the way back both explorers visited another ghost town called Kitsault. Mike & Wade shared an incredible story about this Canadian most preserved ghost town. They mentioned the story of it's eccentric owner Krishnan Suthanthiran and descried why the town became abandoned.
