Staring into the abyss of mortality via albums on vinyl and trash food. You deserve a break today.
Birthday boy! Birthday boy! All hail the birthday boy! We're back for a Jim-selected birthday bonus featuring.... who else? Steven Wilson. Let's all gather around and check out his first solo album, Insurgentes, released in 2008.
Get the most for your holiday dollar with these All-Star values!"Wow, did you see that?""Oooh, look at that guy!""I wish I brought *my* roller blades!""That looks like great exercise.""You're good! Where'd you get those roller blades?""At MVP Sports. They've got the best prices around! I got my LA Gears here, too.""Us too! Mine were just $44.99 and my husband's were just $49.99. My daughter loves her LA Gears, and I love MVP prices!"MVP SPORTS!Oh and we listen to a Huey Lewis & the News album for Patrick's birthday this year.
We're back for a celebration of Christopher's birthday in which he selected the second album by Beastie Boys, "Paul's Boutique", as his pick. The boys discuss the desire to eat bad things, assigning seven minutes in heaven between members of Fleetwood Mac who are yet to do so, and the kind of people who visit Red Lobster with optimism in their hearts. Somewhere in there we talk about the album, as well.
The boys are back for one more go as they discuss an obscure 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. They also talk about houses that meander into sink holes, ways to get rich on Route One (the answer may surprise you!), and Patrick may or may not get his Rundgren revenge. Jonathan Sasor joins in. Honk honk, Funnie!
The lads join up with former guest Erik Marks to discuss Joy Division's 1979 seminal post-punk monolith "Unknown Pleasures". Despite a distinct lack of blastbeats and major 7th chords, both Jim and Patrick manage to find some things they like about it. Also, wait... has Jim's name actually been Tim this whole time? That would certainly be embarrassing to admit nearly 100 episodes in.
The dumb dumb juice is flowing on this latest installment of OMYAC. Joining us to discuss Pink Floyd's DSOTM is World of Commotion host Danielle Brown! Tune in for your chance to win one of Nick Mason's cars!
Why not come on the Sloop John B and join the lads as they examine The Beach Boys's landmark record "Pet Sounds"! Or don't! I'm not about to tell you what to do with your time.
On this here latest episode of our little program, we discuss whether it's worth going to Chipotle in the face of e coli, soggy, weird, and limp fries, hole through the Earth physics, and the need to throw some pasta sauce on the wall in regards to the film "Sing" (2016). Scott Kurland (Writer's Bagel Basket) joins as we also sort of discuss Pulp's 1998 album "This is Hardcore".
Happy New Year! May all acquaintances be forgotten, keep your eye on the grand old flag!.. that's how that goes, right? For this installment of our little trash program, we're tackling a heavy hitter. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Zeppelin IV. Helping us navigate through the stylings of Plant, Bonham, Page, and Jones is returning guest Clinton Degan. The claw machine of nightmares also returns.

Come one, come all, as the 'men gather round to discuss Live's 1994 album "Throwing Copper". Joined by Clamshell Case Files' Quintin Marcelino, things are barely kept on track as Jim enters a Google Maps-inspired fugue state, Patrick imagines visiting Jerry Harrison and being treated to chicken nuggets, and Christopher faces a looming hard exit time as he has a Dungeons and Dragons game to get to on Zoom. Quintin also teaches us what is and what is not hockey music.
Another one of those "informational" episodes. Strap into your rocket seat for some bullshit about NASA, drowning, Christopher's high school GPA, and also a good ol' fashion neutering. We also, at some point, discuss The Flaming Lips' 1995 cult classic, Clouds Taste Metallic.
On this installment of Old Men Talk About Dogs, we regale many a canine anecdote. Christopher's dog Sóley is getting over a seasonal cold, Patrick's dog Duke is opening up his heart to the wide world of (poisonous) acorns, and Jim's dog Rigby really likes Jim's nipples. Other topics of discussion include Genesis's 1983 self-titled release and its multitude of merits and drawbacks.
It's Jim's day again ya frigs, so we're doing a Toadies album. Make sure your thumbs are intact and your not eating too many Ritz crackers before dinner. You don't want to be meeting the great farmhand in the sky too early.
The old men are together for the first time since February of 2020 to record an episode in one single location. Or are they? Jim may be in South Carolina looting Patrick's home. There's some healthy discussion about the difference between Waffle House and Huddle House in regards to both digestion and the reproductive process of both chains (spoiler: they're Xenomorphs) as well as The Rolling Grapes, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, and OK Cupid. We also talked about Radiohead or something. Later, Jim provides us with another net worth challenge, and Christopher forces the others to discern the meat of yet another clickbait Alternative Nation article. Always respect the glass.
The boys get together once again to discuss sugar tits, hot sauce, and Nirvana's 1993 In Utero. Joining us for this hour of Internet gold is returning guest Michael Levesque.
WE'RE BACK BABY! After our (very first) hiatus, the Ol' boys are back in studio to discuss Tom Wait's wild 1992 outing "Bone Machine" with return guest Tim Howd (of The Only Humans). Patrick is down in South Carolina now, so get ready for even more Huddle House/Waffle House discourse. It only gets worse from there.
In celebration of Christopher's birthday the gang busts out of hiatus to discuss some more gross bathroom stuff, pork roll/Taylor Ham (again), and we reveal how we pay our employees (spoiler: it's via mailed balogna). Somehow we also manage to discuss Soul Coughing's 1998 swan song, El Oso. Abram Taber returns for the festivities.
Grab a bun and finish your F's! It's the only way you're going to get your fix of Jammin 94.5 tonight, Denny! Anyways, the boys are back in town and we're lickin some metal with Metallica. We've got all the favorites... James.. Lars.. that other guy. Also, Patrick drops a Smashing Pumpkins studio bombshell. You're not gonna wanna miss this one!
Hey, Funny! Do you like post-punk?That's right, this week the boys are Dougin' their Funnies to Boston post-punk heroes Mission of Burma and their 1981 post-punk classic "Signals, Calls, and Marches". Other discussions include Peggy Lawton cookies, contentious restaurant owners, and some rather ribald Roger Klotz impressions. Honk Honk!
In this installment, the boys remain guestless as they discuss a new product called Computer Gun (probably used by some kid in Quincy), where to get space suits, and getting Columbo'd. All this happens while the lads have a paste party, and manage to discuss Depeche Mode's 2005 album "Playing the Angel". Also, Christopher knows that Alan Wilder is not in Erasure. He misspoke.
Making our way through the 13 step program with the help of a very special eight-legged guest whose been skulking around the studio for quite some time. Udders... how do they work?
Comin' in hot (AKA 4 days late) with a particularly THICK and monolithic episode of OMYAC, taking on Soundgarden's 1994 magnum opus "Superunknown". We are joined once again by Tyler Kent (of GEPH) as we navigate the massive and murky waters of this 90s classic, with plenty of detours into attempted Michael Beinhorn impressions and Jim's trademark clown stories.
Christopher done goofed and thought his pick this time was for April 1, so we're coming at you a little late. Allow us to make up for it by discussing Warren Zevon's third album, "Excitable Boy". There's a lot of sandwich talk up front, as well as talk of Bob Seger's teeth. Jake O'Donnell (https://distantsigns.bandcamp.com/) joins us.
Classic albums live! With Old Men Yell At Cloud!... well.. ok, so it's not live. It is, however, one of the best classic albums ever written, or at least the four of us seem to think so. We're doing Fleetwood Mac's Rumours! Joined with us tonight is veteran guest, Tyler Loiselle. We dive into this timeless gem of a record and take a trip down memory lane. Oscillators, taste bud therapy, dog shit experiments, cat turds, and cocaine abuse. It's all here, folks!
On this installment the boys tackle their first (and hopefully not last) offering from the Boss himself, 1984's "Born In The USA". Joining in on the Springsteen discourse is fellow Rampikes member/former guest/actual New Jerseyan Jonathan Sasor. That's the sort of authenticity you can come to expect your trusted pals at Old Men Yell at Cloud. Also, completely unrelated, please just don't fact-check any of our episodes.
The boys are joined by World of Commotion co-host Danielle Brown as they listen to and discuss Jarvis Cocker's 2006 solo debut. Also on the table is Patrick's recently colonoscopy (and subsequent McDonald's visit), free ways to get into the Museum of Science, and some horrifying management techniques in Rollercoaster Tycoon. This episode is brought to you by the Barry Establishments of Ireland, who assure us that they are not charlatans.
Pour yourself a nice cold glass of pork soda, we're finally doing it! We're finally subjecting Christopher to a Primus record! The results may surprise you. As with any zany record we do here on the OMYAC program, joining us again is veteran guest, Tom Ribeiro. Burgers, bodies of water made of processed dairy, and some bass-heavy riffs. It's all here folks!
The boys kick off 2021 a bit on the nose with a shared appreciation for the U2 smash single "New Year's Day", as well as a discussion of its respective album "War", the lads' third album. As per usual we also air our fast food sins, discuss the Edge's potential for evolutionary regression, and the legacy of Ernest P. Worrell.
Well, we really get into it on this one. We manage to talk quite a bit about the Foo Fighters' excellent 1997 album "The Colour and the Shape" but the real star of the show is the McRib, which has recently made its triumphant return across these united states. Jim consumed one (as well as many other items) and feels sick, Patrick is behind the bench ready to defend the good name of the sandwich, and return guest Jarrod Staples has his own recent McRib tales. Christopher just has many questions because as of this recording he had never had a McRib. As of this writing, he has very recently. And he's getting sleepy. This album is very good.
Grab your pork and grab your pie! It's another Porcupine Tree episode featuring your favorite porcupals featuring 2005's Deadwing! Once again gracing us with his presence, veteran guest, Nate Heroux. Join us as we finally convince Nate to join us on the FBI watch list and indoctrinate him with a free coupon book for stale Wendy's fries. We also get into the great musical math debate of 2020.
Holy moley we are thirstin' for Thurston, krazy for Kim, and longing for Lee on this installment of OMYAC. Abe Taber of Nickelbackin' joins the Old Boys as we review Sonic Youth's 1988 magnum opus "Daydream Nation". Other lively discussions broach the work of world-renowned saxophonist Dave Sanborn, subjective experiences with 5G, and Mike Watt's comical pronunciation of the word "window".
Fall is here again and once again Christopher is reaching into his inner sadboi by selecting another album by the Cure. This time, 2000's Bloodflowers is on the docket, and Christopher goes into why he may be biased towards this album. We also discuss defunct New England store chains Paperama and Ann & Hope, the net worth of Herb Alpert, and the times that Jim is sitting on the poo-poo can. Austin Scholl (ThornBrain, Sophomore Slumps) joins in.
Listen to us give birth thanks to Jim on this birthday bonus extravaganza. Oh, we also review an Oceansize album too.
Another most joyous episode with your favorite OMYAC boys! This week we're doing 2001's Lateralus by Tool with return guest Jimi Corbett. Tune in to learn Jimi's exclusive email address just this one time only. Put your spiral caps on everyone and grab a crispy boy (and some crispy skin!) because this one's a long haul!
The three cabelleros are back in the studio to discuss Peter Gabriel's fourth self-titled record (AKA Security) as we descend into Fall 2020. Sick of hearing about music? Fear not, we branch off into several illuminating discussions on flat-earthers, airline humor (classic!), and how many miles of baby back ribs Chili's blows through in a year. Seriously, this episode is JAM PACKED with useful information.
We're ringing in Fall over here at the OMYAC Factory the best way we know how: by listening to Type O Negative's 1996 goth dirge opus "October Rust"! We're joined by Todd Bowes (Downcity Armory) as we parse this album by Brooklyn Vampyrs, in addition to looking for condos in Boston (spoiler: throw a rock blindly and you'll hit one), the dirt lot where they filmed Judgement Night, Gary Young's "Plant Man", and Patrick in general just acts like a big baby. The usual sort of thing around these parts.
Grab yourself a cold crispy boy and fire up the grill! That's right, we're doing Lynyrd Skynrd! Joining us is first time guest, Ryan Minichiello!
The lads convene once-a more to discuss the lads from Swindon XTC, specifically their 1979 landmark record "Drums & Wires". We're joined once again by Matt Ohanian (bass player for DAEVES, Bears For Years, and all-around goodboy) to discuss Colin Moulding's absolutely stellar bass playing, how many Nigels there actually are in the world (the final number may shock you), and the life expectancy in Bulgaria. It has to do with their jelly-like milk or something?
Come one come all as we dive into Sigur Rós's 2008 ray of sunshine that is "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust" (With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly)! We're joined by Scott Kurland (Hell is a Musical, Writer's Bagel Basket, and Where in the World is Steven Quincy Urkel?) as three fourths of the gang struggle with pronunciation as one struggles slightly less. We also manage to discuss Tommy Wiseau's gamey piece of meat, how we may actually be living in an M. Knight Shyamalanesque film as ghost podcasters, and how everything has turned into an Ames catalog. Also, Patrick makes an Air joke that is featured on an episode of the Gilmore Girls.Remember when this used to be a music podcast?
Perverted powerful podcasters preferably plug Perturbator while perturbating playfully. Yea... that's a good description.
Patrick picks a Rundie classic for this installment; Todd Rundgren's "A Wizard, A True Star" released in 1973 (one day after Dark Side of the Moon, oddly enough). The record is often cited as a huge influence on the "bedroom pop" phenomenon of the 2010s and is heavily revered by artists like Trent Reznor, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala), and Ariel Pink. So anyway, Christopher and Jim hated this record and so did our wonderful repeat guest Tyler Kent (of GEPH and the "Thriller" episode) so things get spicy. Also in our robust spice rack of discussion is rogue state Radio Shacks, starch moguls, Rundgren's unfortunate influence on incel culture, powerdads, and jfc we really need to cool it on our greasy spoon chatter.
As we approach the Summer Solstice, the boys are delving into an album that revels in the warmth as well as occasional iciness, Sóley's 2015 album "Ask the Deep". A personal favorite of Christopher's, they discuss the album as well as alien abductions in New Hampshire, Crime Animals, Bring Backs, a love of Jimmy Stewart, and all of the ways you can die in a recording studio. John Greene (Fifth Business, Nickelbackin') joins in.
It's the month of Christopher's birth so that means he gets a bonus pick for a bonus episode! He selected Oasis's massive 1995 album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" and the gang brought back Oasis superfan Jon Sasor to discuss. Also up for discussion are subway martial arts, the coolest dancing man on the MBTA, when the milk is too hot, and a perpetrator known by many names who we will just call Curly Sam. Please do not commit any Lawful No-Nos.
Just the three amigos today on this, the day of our lord, June first. Can you guess what weird nonsense we talk about today? I bet you can... I bet you know it's fast food-related. Ugh. We're getting too predictable, so we had to throw some dark shit in too. Nothing ever good comes of the three of us rambling in the same (virtual) room together. This is why we invite guests to check our reality. Anyways, we've got AIC's Tripod for you this week!
