Thank you for tuning in to another episode. This week I have a conversation with Courtney Bradshaw, CEO of Pretty Hair Strands Hair Products. Courtney Bradshaw is the creator of Pretty Strands Hair Products. She is a mother of 4, licensed cosmetologist, and innovator. Pretty Strands Hair oil, the first born baby of the line, was birthed from a need. Her daughter, who was a toddler at the time, suffered from a severe case of eczema. The eczema not only affected her skin, but her scalp as well. All of the products she used made the problem worse. Not being able to find relief from existing products, Courtney was often disappointed. Not realizing that her background of being a cosmetologist and the love for science had already prepared her for the creation of her very own products. She began her journey. Creating an amazing blend of oils that help heal her daughter's scalp and hair. When her family and friends witnessed the miraculous results, she was forced to share this oil with others. She is now living her life with the purpose of helping people with their hair issues with the best quality hair care products. She's helping people have the Pretty strands they always wanted. This week's episode is all about CURLē Beauty. Today marks CURLē Beauty one year anniversary. Mona El-Gharby is the founder of this amazing product. She recently did a campaign called "Love Your Roots." This is a multi-media campaign aimed at empowering curly hair individuals. In this episode, we talk about Mona's curly hair journey and how the company was founded. Mona, the founder of CURLē! Ten years ago this company was a dream. My mission behind CURLē has always been simple: to reframe natural hair as elegant and luxurious in ALL contexts. As an Egyptian American born and raised in Dallas, I had my own struggles with my curl journey. Growing up, I came to understand the beauty and uniqueness of curly hair. Growing up, the cultural norms made curly hair "exotic", "wild", "crazy", but never "elegant" or "sophisticated". As a middle schooler, my dream was to change that narrative. In that journey, I learned about the importance of premium ingredients for my scalp and hair health. My passion for finding the best ingredients and products that were entirely good for curly hair in the short and long run grew in college when I studied Biochemistry, Business, and Human Rights. I learned the injustices around natural hair and the science behind the most beneficial products and soon found myself with a business idea- a company that prioritized the natural crown like never before. CURLē is about the empowerment of natural hair and changing the narrative. It's about reshaping big natural hair as being elegant not just in a VOGUE magazine, but in a corporate room, not having to straighten it for a high executive meeting or news reporting. We all have a unique curly hair journey and at CURLē we learn and love each and every one. We strive to empower you to take charge of your natural hair by offering you solutions to your curly hair problems. Natural hair is unique and beautiful in ALL contexts, together we can push this movement and reshape the narrative around natural hair. Welcome to 2022! I pray that this year brings your good health and great wealth! This year we are taking Natural Hair Education Podcast to YouTube. It has always been a desire of mine, but the fear of being in front of the camera in front or potentially thousands of people kept be paralyzed. This year I am walking in clarity, confidence and courage. Many years ago I started a YouTube channel "Braiding Academy" where I taught braiding styles and techniques. Over the years I stop working on that project to focus on growing our Beauty School. Since then, we have moved locations, offered more programs and grew our enrollment. While working in the beauty school for the last 20 years, I've noticed a gap in the lack of natural hair education. I then created Natural Hair Education to help beauty school students, salon professionals and natural hair enthusiastic develop their skill and education in textured hair training and so far I am pretty proud and excited with the individuals I have been able to help. This year I will continue to create programs but I will so bring Natural Hair Education to YouTube. Now you will be able to visually watch the podcast and learn more about the guest that we interview. I hope this is exciting for you as it is for me. Have you ever heard the statement "Black hair don't grown long" or "my hair grows to a certain length and stop". Well, todays guest AJ Watkins had that same frustration just before she stared on a journey to learn how to grow her hair long. AJ Watkins has been a part of the natural hair community for over 20 years. During her first year of college in 2007, her fascination and excitement for hair-care began to blossom. Throughout her childhood, she dreamed of having long, flowing natural hair. Sadly, the length of her hair did not seem to grow. She refused to believe the myth of "black girls can't grow long hair", and was determined to figure out the hair growth formula for her coarse, tightly coiled textured hair. She then spent the next 9 years experimenting with natural oils, products, and styles to develop a successful hair growth process. In 2017, she created a natural hair-care product line and hair education platform that incorporated the techniques needed to grow curly and kinky textured hair. Now, she is able to share these handmade products worldwide to help others reach their hair length goals. Make sure to check her out! and be sure to use code "education" for your discount. In today's episode, I had the honor to discuss 4thAveMarket," a consumer-centric platform striving to bridge the gap between buyers and sellers providing access to brands made for us and by us— supporting the product innovators, styling professionals, and influencers who seek to fulfill the needs of the underserved market". CEO of 4thAveMarket, Salim Holder shares with us valuable information on the importance of driving greater transparency, accountability, and ownership among the Black community. This can result in greater reinvestment back into our own community. Salim also shares that we drive 85% of sales in the hair-care industry, but we are 7% of store owners and how we can start to think outside the box by taking on roles and creating manufacturing and distribution companies to support the black hair care companies. The category captain(s) and unfair business practices are just as alive today as they were decades ago. Welcome back to another episode. Today's episode is all about creating "A Safe Space For Black Girls That Never Learned How To Braid". Niani is the creator and founder of "A Safe Space For Black Girls That Never Learned How To Braid". She came up with the idea to teach mothers how to braid their daughter's hair. She felt as if many mothers were having to decide if they were getting their hair done this week or their daughter, and with many children not knowing how to care for their hairstyles, Niani felt that mothers should not have to choose between visits to the salon. Her original idea was to hold in-person workshops teaching mothers how to braid their daughter's hair, but COVID-19 interrupted those plans. Niani thought quickly and decided to teach braiding classes virtually for just $5 biweekly. Her idea went viral and since then she has been a feature on several media platforms such as New York TIme and Good Morning America. Today's episode is all about the steps I took to grow myself in the beauty industry. Growth comes in many different ways. I was a shy kid growing up and of course I would be comfortable around people I knew but because of my speech impediment I hid, kept quiet, and would rather not be seen or heard by others because of the fear of being judged and rejected, and if not careful those thoughts and mindset could have prevented my growth and development. Instead, I was intentional about my growth with the following 4 actions: Become the person you want to become Set time aside to grow your knowledge base in your industry Communicate Get out of your comfort zone Check out the episode and share with me things you do intentionally to grow as a person. This is the last episode in the series "What Beauty School Did Not Teach You". In the episode, I talk about the difference between cosmetologists and natural hair stylists and how they approach hairstyling. I take us through a quick chemistry lesson that will help you understand how product application, hairstyling, and the rearranging of textures break certain bonds within the hair. I also share quick tips on how to identify safe products from not-so-safe products that are on the market. It's Art and being proud of our crown is what we need to embrace more. It's March and I cannot let the month go by without recognizing a few women that have made history in the beauty industry, the natural hair movement, and even in my personal life. In this episode, I discuss 3 women that you may have heard of (Madam CJ Walker, Annie Pope Malone Turbone, and Cecily Tyson). The 4th woman I honor is my very own mother, Corinthian Carouthers. She is the very reason why I am in the beauty industry. She has created a solid foundation for me and I am very blessed and grateful for her. All of the women I mentioned above, including my mother, have made history in the beauty industry, by either creating a brand, a product, being a mentor, opening a business, training other women how to be strong, powerful, and proud of who they are. We must give women their recognition and roses now. So many women around us are making history and breaking barriers. Today, while you still have the chance, be sure to uplift a woman that you see that is taking a stand in her industry with her voice, her presence, and/or her belief. Janay Anderson is an accomplished speaker, bestselling author, natural hair coach, and self-esteem advocate for children. Born in the cozy and quiet town of Port Huron Michigan, Janay grew up wanting a bigger life than what she saw. That opportunity presented itself when her parents divorced, which sent Janay along with her twin sister and her mother to the busy city of Philadelphia at age 9. Having battled bullying and negative talk from her schoolmates for not being as “cool” for her hair, Janay made a decision to take her negative experiences and turn them into a positive lesson for little girls who experience hate and negativity because of their hair. As a mother of two daughters, Janay has reinforced positive self-talk in her children by raising them with strong positive self-images. Janay's positive affirmations began to spread to other little girls and many parents began asking her for a book. It was that encouragement that leads to the bestselling book, “I Love My Curls”. “I Love My Curls” is Janay Anderson's love letter to little girls all over the world who get teased or bullied for their natural hair. This episode is a "must listen". My fellow Flint, MI native Dawn Demps talk about reasons why she decided to join the #LOCGang. Not only does Dawn share her story with us, but she also speaks on our history, the black women, and our culture. Her passion for the black community is always at the forefront and her passion for "the people" is exhibited in this episode. Dawn is relatively new to the loc journey but is no stranger to the process. She believed that our hair will do what it's supposed to do if we just leave it alone. Her loc process consisted of two-strand twist, monthly visits to her loctician, and only natural products such as water, oil, and essential oils. Dawn decided to leave her bang area out, so she still has the flexibility to be creative by having both locd and loose hair. More about Dawn Demps Dawn has been involved with community advocacy and organizing since 12 years old. She utilizes her own lived experiences to connect with students and parents to promote tools for self-advocacy, structural reforms and strives to champion the concerns of these populations. She holds an MA in Social Justice Studies from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Arizona State University in Education Policy and Evaluation. She has published articles examining the possibilities of youth-inspired school leadership as exhibited through youth voice and participatory action research, unpacking the difficulties and potential of Black and Brown collaborative educational leadership and how art can be used to expose the experiences of Black youth who have experienced school exclusion. She is currently conducting a critical ethnographic oral history study of a grassroots community advocacy group comprised of Black natural and other mothers who are galvanizing to challenge and dismantle the educational policies and practices that exclude Black children from educational spaces Dawn has been awarded the 2020/21 American Association of University Women Dissertation Fellowship and Arizona State University Dissertation Completion Fellowship. A sample of her other recognitions includes the 2019 University Council for Education Administration (UCEA) Putting Research Into Action Award, 2019 Hilliard Sizemore Research Fellow, UCEA Barbara Jackson Scholar, and Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Honorable Mention. She additionally serves as a member of the Arizona Department of Education's African American Advisory Council and is the proud mother of 3 children: Journi, Jayanti, and Zora- ages 17, 15, and 8 respectively. Happy New Year! I am so excited to share with you what I have created for you! My family and I are owners of a beauty school and we just celebrated 21 years of owning and operating the beauty school. We have several different programs such as cosmetology, esthetics, manicuring, instructor training, and natural hair. Natural Hair programs are rare to find and cosmetology curriculums do not spend a great deal, if any at all on the proper education of working with naturally curly, coily textures and for years, I would see students from all over graduate these expensive programs to enter the real world still lacking in the education of their textured hair. It has been my desire to bring the education that I share with my natural hair programs to people all over that are interested in learning the hands-on and theoretical portion, improving their skills, increasing their income, and most importantly providing an excellent service to their clients. If you would like to become a Certified Natural Hair Specialist please email me at corinthian@naturalhairedu.com. I am looking for 5 students to take through this extensive 8-week program. This is the final episode in the Queendom Care Series and I have a good friend Janae Pollard known as Janae Doe covering pillar #5 Money. Janae is a Personal Finance Strategist and Money Coach who helps independent women buy back their time by gaining a better understanding and relationship with their money. She teaches wealth building principles and believes God has truly given you every resource today to have a better future tomorrow, you just have to take inventory of your current assets and learn how to use them to grow not just your money but build the life you desire. In this episode, the first thing Janae explains is the importance of having a mindset shift. Does the system you currently have work for you? Do you see an increase financially with the current way of handling your finances? Here are some tips from Janae: Money is currency Track what you are spending A Budget is giving your money a place to go Save and Invest A lot of times we have enough money we are just misallocating it Financial Freedom starts in the mind If you have kids, look at their activities as an investment, not an expense Using bank apps can help you track your finances You're either free or a slave to your finances Hire a coach to keep you accountable Know your financial triggers and what makes you want to spend money Peoples schedules tell them what they were supposed to do, but their bank statements tell them what they did Live within your means Janae also has a special gift for the listeners of the Natural Hair Education Podcast. Today's Queendom Care Series episode is all about SPACE! Special guest and industry leader in apparel construction, artistic development, and social change, Kala Wilburn teaches us about the importance of keeping our space clear of clutter. I believe energy is all around us, in the spaces that we occupy and even our relationships. Both can impact the way we feel, act, and think. Clearing the clutter creates clarity that creates creativity and in order to move forward with good energy a clutter-free environment is a must. Here are a few of Kala's tips: Successful people have a routine and if you don't have the space to help create a routine you cant be efficient in a routine. If you want to go to different levels in your life you have to be organized. Starting small can help you feel accomplished by checking that tasks off the list. Start with organizing your drawers. Everything within a space has a place and organizing trays can help. Confidence is hidden in cluttered closets. Why is your space cluttered? Asking questions creates conversations and can lead to breaking generational curses that you are not aware of. Let me start by saying this is a conversation every woman must hear. I knew that Reality is full of wisdom but this conversation went beyond my expectations. This episode is about Spirit, and how we can nurture our inner BEing, and Reality Edwards says that Affirmations are her go-to. It's her daily practice. Prayer, meditation, and affirmations are all cousins and either one you choose to practice will definitely benefit your inner BEing. Reality Edwards is the CEO and founder of TheRealitycreations.com, a Certified Herbalist, Fertility support, Womb Wellness Practitioner, Doula, and your favorite Self-Care, Self-Love advocate. She shares so many valuable tips in this episode. “We get our hair done, we get our nails one, we get massages but what do we do for our Yoni”- Reality Edwards She also practices and provides womb wellness which is becoming a way to heal past trauma and show self-love through Yoni Steaming. It works by absorbing the herbs and pulling toxins out of the body. Some benefits of Yoni Steaming is: Takes away abdominal pain Can help remove fibroids, endometriosis and help with the process of healing Regulates and heal damaged tissue Help you center yourself Helps with soul ties and attachments Removes bacteria Enhances sex drive and natural lubrication It's a ritual of self-care Here are a few highlights from my conversation with Reality: "Surround yourself with the things you need. People are tools. People can be your Sun, the Water you need to flourish" "Saying yes to conversations, yes to learning and being a student, and being okay with not knowing and allowing your Spirit to flow" "Staying connected to sisterhood" "You will find everything you need once you say yes to yourself" "Self Care Heals" Stay connect with Reality Edwards here: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therealitycreations_/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RealityyCreations Website: https://therealitycreations.com/ Are you interested in learning more about Natural Hair Education? What are you doing for your mental? The mind is the second pillar in the Queendom Care Series and Twanna Anderson is my special guest. Twanna Anderson is the co-founder of the encouraging organization, Whenupray, Author of “Anxiety is Not Me” and creator of The M;nd Ya Mental Experience, a platform dedicated to providing online and hands-on resources for Mental Wellness. In today's episode, Twanna and I have a conversation about mental wellness and steps we can do to nurture our mental as well as show ourselves some "self-care". She recommends seeing a therapist. You do not have to have years of trauma to speak with a therapist. This idea has been frowned upon in the black community, but as the years go by, we are seeing more and more African Americans have conversations and doing the work "on the couch". Twanna also says, massages, working out and yoga have great benefits to combat anxiety and help in mental wellness. Self-care may look different for each person and that's okay. Self-care can be coloring, resting, watching tv, taking a bath, and even having some alone time. Journaling is also a powerful way to learn patterns and triggers and to even see how far you've come. This is the first episode where we break down Pillar #1 the Body! There are so many ways we can support our bodies, but how do we start implementing and following through on positive behaviors when our emotions and feeling get in the way of that? Doing one thing such as changing your posture can help change your mood and possibly give you the energy needed to work on you. I chose the Body to be the first pillar in Queendom Care Series because it is where our inner BEing lives, it's our temple while here on Earth. However, women, being the natural caretakers and nurturers that we are, don't always do the best at self-care. In this episode, I cover 6 ways you can implement self-care. Be sure to create a schedule that fits YOU in your calendar. Here are 6 ways to incorporate self-care for the Body: Exercise- Walking, running, yoga, boxing, aerobics, and at-home workouts are different ways to dedicate to our health and body. There are many activities you can do to help build muscle, which in return helps the body sustain. My brother created 9 exercise movements that will support your body's range of motions and overall longevity. Those seven movements are 1. Push, 2. Pull. 3. Bend, 4. Twist, 5. Lunge, 6. Squat, 7. Gait, 8. Carry and 9. Crawl We all use those activities daily and he has created workouts that will help support our lifestyle. Learn more here! Breath- Taking in deep inhales and exhales. Breathing intentionally helps relieve stress and tension in the body. Also, saying "thank you" to your heart, lungs, and kidneys. Massage- Getting regular massages, help relieve tension in the body as well as help in workout recovery. If you stand or sit for long periods of time, I'm sure you can use a massage here and there to help ease the tension in your body. Nutrition- We are what we eat is a true statement. In this episode, I explain how I prepare to make better food choices. It's easy to eat unhealthy, but when you make better choices for your body and inner health, you feel good overall and is like to continue to make better choices. Rest- Do not run yourself down. If you cant do it, you cant do it and guess, whatever it is will still be there waiting for you. We have to learn to put ourselves first. To fill our cups, support our body and mind however that look. Resting for you could be, reading a good book, it could be watching tv, a bubble bath, time by yourself. However that looks for you, you must incorporate it into your self-care regime. Physical care- Physical care is taking care of your hair, skin, and nails. Getting facials, your hair and nails done is an act of self-care. I am an advocate of self-care and it's my goal that as women we all learn ways to fit ourselves in our life's schedule and that we pay close attention to our body and our health. Thank you for listening and sharing the podcast. Just last week I hit just over 1k downloads and that would not have been possible without you. Thank you all very much! Today is the day you get to identify areas of the Queendom Pillars you want to grow in. Special guest, Jateya Jones, Clarity Coach is going to help layout practical steps you can do to identify areas in which you want more clarity in. The Queendom Pillars are: Body Mind Spirit Space Money We all can use some attention and self-care in each of the pillars. This episode will help you identify the areas you can use some improvements and self care. In this episode, Jateya covers: What is clarity? A clear roadmap or crystal clear picture of how to get to a destination. Identifying the Queendom pillars that could use more clarity. To get to the clarity in any Queendom pillar, acceptance is required. Acceptance of Past (good and bad), present (even if you aren't where you want to be YET), and accept that you are worthy of your desired future. To get to acceptance, you have to keep your cup full and then you are able to give from your overflow/saucer. There are 6 cup fillers and you should set SMART goals for each. Faith - Fath w/o works are dead, Write the vision make it plain (importance of journaling), you take the first few steps of a stairwell w/o seeing the top. Finance - Do you know where your money is going? Don't create stress for tomorrow today. Fitness - mentally (affirmations, books, podcast, etc) and physically Family/Friends - Boundaries (self first is not selfish), loving out of fear, vibrations Food - It's not just what we consume for nutrients, it is also what we see and hear. Fun - This is necessary for the soul...knowing what brings you joy. The benefits of having clarity saves time and energy manifestation in 3D Increased income and impact (dr appt, more capacity to give) The negative effect of not having clarity Whispers of doubt, depression, complacency, feeling stuck, a constant state of IDK, broken relationships, physical/emotionally fatigue, short attention span, irritability, decreased health overall, frustration, not manifesting Steps to take to work towards gaining clarity: Accept Believe Brain Dump Plan to W.I.N. Prioritize your stressors Now that you have identified the areas you want to grow stronger in, you can use the tips Jateya suggests to help nurture and build up your Queendom. As women, we can get caught up in our daily lives and so busy that we forget to take care of our “Queendom”. We each have a unique beauty about ourselves and a strength that no one else can compare to. Yes, this is a Natural Hair podcase, but sis, we must do the work on the inside to give us the confidence we need on the outside. I started implementing these 5 pillars into my life during Quarantine 2020. I begin to learn so much about the person I am on the inside. “I” became my most important person. “I” being to cater to me and my needs and most importantly “I” gave up the things that no longer served me. In the weeks to come, we will break down each pillar and give you practical ways to improve your self-care. The guest I have for the podcast are phenomenal women who also believe that we should always make daily deposits into the activities that will benefit us entirely. Here are the 5 Pillars of Your Queendom and questions to answer to guide you to a solid Queendom: Body- This pillar includes your physical health, the foods you eat, and your skin hair, and nails. How do you take care of theses areas on a daily basis? We are what we eat and if you are not moving or exercising, one day your body will not serve you. Mind- This pillar includes your thoughts and emotions. How do you contribute to your mental health? What do you do to strengthen your mind? Music, television, and different forms of media are all feeding your mind. Are you satisfied with the consumption of what you seeing and listening to? Spirit- This pillar is all about your inner BEing. How do you nurture your spiritual self? Do you pray or meditate? Do you have time to sit still? You can get so much clarity and even inspiration from getting still and knowing who you are. Space- This pillar is two-fold, which includes the physical space around you and how that space serves you. The second part is the people that occupy space in your life such as family and friends. Are they an asset and build you up or do they drain your energy? Money- This is the final pillar and usually, the one people try to avoid the most. How are you taking care of your finances? Do you plan and budget? How do you spend your money? Are you an emotional spender? Money can create freedom and power. It is worth your attention Making positive daily deposits into these 5 areas of your life every day will being to yield you the results that will radiate you from the inside out. This past week has been difficult for many of us as the African American community continues to bear the pain and unfairness of our "Justice" system. A lot has happened this year from Ahmaud Aubrey, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the many other names that get silenced. It shows you the value of black life. How about not getting the job you are well qualified for because of your hair texture! We are in the year 2020 and we are still fighting for a voice in a county that was built on the backs of our Ancestors. In this episode, I share my thoughts and feelings on the social and economical injustice we face on a daily basis. I also share how we (especially the black woman) must support, praise, and validate each other because we are the most under-protected but yet the most powerful influencer on the planet. This episode is in no order, just me expressing my thoughts and feelings. Recent world events have begun to shine a light on the lack of diversity in different industries. Take the beauty and barber industry, many schools that teach future beauty professionals have had a standardized curriculum for many years. In this episode, Rodrick Samuels speakers to the importance of diversity and doing what it takes and seeking the education required to ensure you are a well-rounded hairstylist and/or barber. He has made it his mission to speak to the lack of diversity in the beauty and barber industry by creating #SolidHAIRity. With his wisdom and expertise, he has been able to help create curriculums that teach how to work with different hair types and textures. He also shares with us some of the struggles he's had to face, how he was able to surpass them, how to keep yourself encouraged, and how he met his beautiful wife Lauren, who is also an amazing professional stylist. I know the podcast is Natural Hair Education but let's be clear, hair is a very important part of our lives, but its not the only thing we need to pay attention to. I love the idea that as women, we need to be more loving and caring of ourselves, so from time to time, I will share non-hair relevant topics on the show so that we can continue to learn and take care of our Queedoms. Today's episode is titled: "Health Talk" with Mia Hopkins This is the perfect time to learn and adopt healthy eating habits. Mia's health journey began in 2016 after battling and winning the fight against breast cancer. She knew she had to do more to beat the fight of her then declining health. She adopted veganism and then incorporated organic cold press juice. From there she created two businesses: Natural Vegan Soul, LLC, and Alive Organic Cold Press Juice, LLC where her goal is to help as many people as possible make positive food choices before they get the diagnosis. This is the beginning of Season two, and in this episode, I discuss some changes that are taking place in the Beauty Industry. COVID19 had literally changed lives and the way we normally do things. As a beauty professional and beauty school owner, there are certain precautions that have to be made in order to ensure safety stylists, students, and clients. I pose two questions: 1. As a beauty professional what will you as a stylist need to do to create the confidence your clients will need? 2. Clients what will you expect from your stylist? I ask these two questions because many States have opened up Beauty Salons and Barbershops and there is a certain level of responsibility we must maintain to keep the spread of COVID19 at bay. Michigan Board of Cosmetology has not yet released any policies surrounding COVID19 and the safety of salons. Michigan salons and Barbershops have not yet opened either. However, when they do open, I am curious to know how will they proceed with accepting clients. I also want to know what will clients expect from their Beauty professionals. Will they be looking for license and sanitation protocol from their stylist? What are clients looking for to give them the confidence to return to the salon. One thing I know for sure is that Beauty professionals have done intense training in Infection Control, Sanitation Practices, and Disinfection Methods in beauty school, so for the professionals that will get back to work, I know they will know how to handle their environments. On the flip side, there are many people that not wanting the World to open back up and I can respect that. However, the work we do is essential and many people need the connection and outlet to help themselves feel beautiful on the outside. Whatever one chooses to do, safety should be #1! In this episode I share "10 COVID-19 Standard Practice Policy" procedures that can be implemented when the student and stylist return. I have also included these Standard Polices in my FREE EBook "5 Principles to Understanding and Performing Natural Hair Care Services" which can be downloaded here If you are back at work, do the necessary steps to make sure you and your clients are safe. To end Season 1 on the Natural Hair Education Podcast I wanted to speak to you about "Redefining Beauty From The Inside Out". Beauty starts on the inside and radiates on the outside, but many of us are focused on covering and masking the outside. Our skin and hair are a direct reflection of the things we put in our body so nutrition plays a huge factor in this. The wholistic approach to beauty is lacking. Yes, you can wear makeup, wigs, and extension to enhance the beauty that we were blessed with, but what happens when you look in the mirror and fail to see the true beauty you possess? What happens when you turn to the media to try to find your identity? What happens when our daughters are searching to find themselves in society? As Beauty professionals, we have a responsibility to nurture the whole client. To encourage them to do the work that it requires to have a healthy body and mind. When we work on your crown, we know when there are internal issues going on. We know the effects of different types of medication, stress, and a bad diet. We can see it, but how many of us have the real conversations with our clients and inform them of these factors? Redefining beauty takes a wholistic approach to you doing the work to heal from the inside out. Working on the "Queendom Pillars" can lead you in the direction of self-appreciation and most importantly self-love. Here are the pillar: Body Mind Spirit Space Money Ladies, remember you are beautiful the way God made you. You are perfect as you are. You are a direct reflection of your Creator. Let's begin to learn to love ourselves from the inside out and watch how your life begins to radiate and the people around you will begin to see you glow. As I conclude Season 1 I want to say thank you for listening, subscribing, and your comments. I appreciate you all so much. Season 2 will be dedicated to beauty school students and professionals but you are still allowed to listen. You will definitely learn a lot as your expectations for your professional become more apparent.
