This episode is the perfect follow-up to the last, because I gratefully sit down with Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Licensed Cosmetologist, Jessica Rose. In a day where nearly everyone is concerned about aging and their appearance, Jessica bridges the gap between health and beauty by helping people of all ages make better lifestyle choices. In this discussion, she not only educates us on how our overall toxic load can accelerate the aging process, but she gives us several alternative beauty methods to look into. While so many opt for quicker fixes and more conventional options, Jessica feels that it is entirely possible and much healthier to approach beauty in a holistic fashion. She feels that we should care about our outer appearance, but that authentic beauty starts from within and it really is an inside job.We chat about several of her current, favorite holistic beauty techniques and routines, how lymph drainage and proper hydration are imperative for graceful aging, and she even gives us her thoughts on some popular not-as-aggressive treatment options. We talk about her view on sunscreen usage, she gives us some really cool information on hair care, and she even goes into how mental and emotional health play a vital role in how we age. At the end of the day, Jessica wants us all to remember that aging is inevitably a part of LIVING, and while we should embrace the gift that it is, we can also implement holistic practices to help us not only look beautiful at any age, but feel that way too.Jessica Rose's Newsletter: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/newsletter-sign-up Jessica Rose's Website: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/Jessica Rose on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessicarosewellness_/ Jessica Rose on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jessicarosewellnesssJessica Rose on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8AdX_Q1M3_SIYlLK4N98ZwJessica Rose on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jessicarosewellness/Jessica Rose on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JSROSEWELLNESSMedia Appearances: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/pressShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showThis episode is for informational purposes only. Today's Mold Talks guest is Katherine Poulos, Licensed Cosmetologist, Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, founder, and exposure survivor. Kali's experience with mold exposure has been a long and painful journey, but one that has opened her eyes to how dangerous this indoor contaminant can be. While she was previously familiar with mold illness and some of the effects exposure can have, she never considered that it was her environment affecting her body so greatly. After moving into an apartment, Kali began to experience a range of seemingly random symptoms but thought that it was a result of her Hashimoto's. As her condition continued to worsen, she eventually ended up at the hospital and was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. That's when the conversation turned to bone-marrow transplants, blood transfusions, and survival rates. It wasn't until her business partner mentioned her drastic health change immediately following moving into the new indoor space that she decided to take a look at what was in her environment. The results showed astronomical levels of chaetomium, the root cause of her degrading health. After the discovery, she immediately left the environment and began to feel her body slowly improving. It took years, but she's now well on the path to healing and is using this experience to help others who are suffering from exposure. After her experience in the cosmetology industry, she's also focusing on helping these professionals who are suffering from various exposures, including mold. She's working on navigating healthy beauty products as well. Kali's journey shows how seriously environmental exposures can affect health and the need for greater awareness and research. She experienced firsthand just how little the medical world is aware of contaminants such as mold, leaving it up to those who are suffering to be their own health advocates. We've got a long way to go, but sharing stories like Kali's will help shine a light on this issue and bring about the change that is needed worldwide. "It's crazy when you think back that your home can make you sick." "I do believe that every healer and those in service go through things in order to learn and be of service to others, and I know that this was part of my journey for that.""Start with what you can. Don't overwhelm yourself and don't become a perfectionist because that will just inhibit you from making progress. Do the best you can with what you have and start with what you can do at home now. Even if it's just drinking pure water."https://www.homecleanse.com/https://www.themoldmedic.com/Learn more about Kali at:https://www.kaliwellness.com/about-us/our-storyhttps://www.kaliwellness.com/lowtoxbeautyacademyhttps://www.instagram.com/lowtoxbeautyacademy/https://www.instagram.com/kaliwellness/

How did a night out while just having fun, dancing and being social end so tragically for a young 26-year old woman? In the early morning hours of March 26, 2000, Megan Curl was found brutally murdered in her apartment.Earlier that night, Megan had reportedly gone out dancing at Electric Cowboy in Lufkin, Texas as she often did. There, it was said that she met a few men whom she socialized and had a few drinks with. Megan then went to another club called the Sports Shack, just a little ways down the road from the Electric Cowboy club, where she met another man. Megan reportedly arrived home around 1:30 a.m. and she and her neighbor/friend had a brief conversation outside their apartment complex just before an unknown man pulled up in a car. Upon seeing the vehicle, Megan told her friend that she thought it was the man she had met at the club. The two then disappeared for the night into Megan's apartment.Around 4 a.m., emergency officials were called to her apartment on a report of smoke coming from Megan's building. Within the hour the fire had been extinguished and her burned body was discovered. Although there have been many persons of interest, Megan's murder still remains unsolved.Anyone with information in Curl's death is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 639-TIPS.Sources Used for this Episode:https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Megan_Curlhttps://lufkindailynews.com/news/community/article_238acf6a-3acb-11e3-9481-0019bb2963f4.htmlSponsorshipsCrime Critics & Chaos is sponsored by Hugo Granados and Tia Edwards.Hugo Granados is a major contribution to CCC Podcast for our wine and dine collection. Brandon Lawson went missing on August 9th, 2013 after leaving his home in San Angelo, Texas. The night that Brandon disappeared, he had gotten into an argument with his significant other due to him not returning home the day prior and the belief that he was under the influence of drugs. Before Brandon left his home, he called to notify his father that he was on his way over to his home in Crowley, Texas, which was about a 3-hour drive from San Angelo. About 45 minutes later, Brandon called his brother and told him that he had ran out of gas and that he was pulled over alongside U.S. Route 277 between San Angelo and Bronte, Texas. Brandon's brother claimed that while he was on the phone with Brandon, he seemed to have been hallucinating as none of what Brandon was saying made any sense. The strange events that took place that night still remains a mystery because shortly after, Brandon was never seen or heard from again and remained so for 8 years. On February 4th, 2022, the family of Brandon Lawson reported on the "Help Find Brandon Lawson" Facebook page that clothing had been located that matched Brandon's and was near his last known location. After further investigation, the Texas Rangers located human remains. It is believed that those remains are those of Brandon. With the recents events of the remains of Brandon Lawson being discovered, take a deeper dive as we reflect on the details about his case. On January 5th, 1984, 2-year old Tanisha Johnson went missing from her mobile home in Austin, Texas. At the time she disappeared, she was playing outside alone on the swing set while her mother was inside their home cleaning. Minutes later, Tanisha's mother went to check on her to find that Tanisha was longer on the swing and she was nowhere in the area of their home. After an exhaustive search, no sign or trace of Tanisha has ever been found. On April 2nd, 1986, 5-year old Ara Johnson also went missing from her mobile home in Big Sandy, Texas. It is believed that sometime after Ara's father went to check on her that morning around 2AM, someone entered the home and abducted her. Investigators strongly believe that whoever took Ara had some connection to the family or knew of their regular habits. Ara's parents along with another strong person of interest were questioned by police regrading Ara's disappearance. However, Ara's case remains unsolved and she has also never been found. It has been over 35 years since Tanisha Watkins and Ara Johnson vanished from their Texas homes and never seen or heard from again. Could their abductions be crime of opportunity or was this more personal? How could two young girls just vanish from their homes and no trace of them ever discovered? Could the families of both have anything to do with their disappearances or were their abductors total strangers? If you have any information on the whereabouts of Tanisha Watkins, please contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-0916 and if anyone has information regarding Ara Johnson, you are urged to contact the Upshur County Sheriff's Office at (903) 843-2541 or their local authorities.Sources Used for Tanisha Watkins' Story:https://truecrimediva.com/tanisha-watkins/https://ourblackgirls.com/2021/11/08/tanisha-watkins-2-vanished-in-1984-while-playing-in-front-yard/Sources Used for Ara Johnson's Story:https://charleyproject.org/case/ara-denise-johnsonhttps://ourblackgirls.com/2020/03/29/ara-denise-johnson-5-was-abducted-from-her-room-in-1986/SponsorshipsCrime Critics & Chaos is sponsored by Hugo Granados and Tia Edwards.Hugo Granados is a major contribution to CCC Podcast for our wine and dine collection. On August 2nd, 2006, 23-year old Brandi Wells made plans to gather with friends and hang out at a club. She first stopped to visit her mom in Tyler, Texas where the pair chatted for a while and Brandi got dressed for her night out. Before leaving her mother's home, Brandi mentioned to her mom that she was low on cash and gas in her car. Although her mother was not financial able to assist her at the time, this did not stop Brandi from proceeding with her plans as she still proceeded with her plans for the night.Although, Brandi did not mention to her mom exactly what nightclub she was heading to, her mother assumed that she had gone out to a local club in Tyler called the Electric Cowboy. The next morning, Brandi's car was found by a State Trooper on the side of highway I-20 in Longview, Texas. Brandi was nowhere to be found. It was then discovered that Brandi, in fact, had traveled approximately 45 minutes to attend a club called Graham Central Station in Longview. What happened to Brandi that night after she left the nightclub in Longview still remains a mystery. How was Brandi able to drive 45 minutes to away from her mother's home if she was low on cash and gas in her car? Did Brandi really meet up with her friends that night and if so, why hadn't they come forward with information? Why was her car found on the side of the highway with some of her belongings inside, but no trace of her anywhere? Did Brandi meet with foul play the night she left the nightclub? After 16 years of Brandi still remaining a missing person, there are more questions than answers. At the time Brandi disappeared, she stood 4'11 and was approximately 130 pounds. She was wearing a floral print brown and cream-colored tube top with a V cut over the hip, rust-colored gaucho pants, black strapless high-heeled sandals with a floral applique. She was driving a black four-door 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix.If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Brandi Ellen Wells, please call the Longview Police Department at 903–237–1110.Sources Used for this Episode:https://medium.com/the-mystery-box/missing-in-texas-where-is-brandi-ellen-wells-b25a04d0f96ehttps://www.ketk.com/news/special-reports/vanished/vanished-brandi-wells/https://charleyproject.org/case/brandi-ellen-wellsSponsorshipsCrime Critics & Chaos is sponsored by Hugo Granados and Tia Edwards.Hugo Granados is a major contribution to CCC Podcast for our wine and dine collection. As a result of her bad decision, Promises lost her job and went to jail, and was forced to carry a felony on her record for the rest of her life. That was 16 years ago, but it has taken her that long to break her silence. With experience from the law enforcement industry, Promises has developed and heightened her passion and vision to new levels. Speak Life Mentorship & Life Coaching addresses a specific arena of mental health, and particularly in the black community. They identify the walls formed from past beliefs and experiences that have blocked the focal and motivation to pursue and obtain a desired level of accomplishment or success. Her business began in 2012 while she along with her husband built an athletics program for a local charter school in Greensboro, NC. Their business became official in February 2020, Today, Promises seeks to help at risk youth, females and women who have been incarcerated or on their way out of prison/juvenile detention. She has written two books, “Broken Silence” which is about her prison sentence, and the other is “You Were Built For This” a 30 day devotional full of inspirational messages, that is co-authored by her husband and coach, William Huff. Moving forward, Promises plans to market the services of Speak Life Mentorship and Life Coaching. She plans to promote her books and conduct virtual book tours. She is also in the process of working with Rod Kirby and Kirby Media and Productions on turning “Broken Silence” into a mini-series or a movie. Today's episode is a very special one to me. I have a special guest whom is also a good friend of mine. She is a Wife, Mother, Friend, Business Owner, Product Creator, Licensed Cosmetologist and now published Author. She is Najeebah Pinson. Najeebah Pinson is a new Author and Amazon Best Seller of the book: "The Diary of the Ugly Black Girl". This short and sweet, yet powerful read tells the story of how one black girl begin to find the beauty within herself. This book has so many gems that can be implemented as you read and also throughout your day and ultimately life. In the book there is a poem she created called "My Majestic Strands" and OMG it is a powerful Poem encouraging black girls to rock their own Majestic Stands. The book is clever and creative. It starts out with the last chapter first and the first chapters last and either way you read it, it works out perfectly. There is a letter in the book that she wrote to her younger self that is moving and touching. Some of the quotes from the book that we discuss in this podcast episode is: "Suffering in silence is Toxic to the mind and body" "I prayed and asked GOD to bless me to come into the light of understanding" "I've learned that my scars run deeper than what the eyes can see" "I allowed others opinions of me to become my reality" "Self hate doesn't care about gender" "God will make us uncomfortable so that we can move" I cant be sharing all the gems here! Stephanie Ayler is the founder and creator of Nourish and Love Company. Stephanie is a veteran( albeit, a more quieter veteran) in the natural hair game. Having been a part of the Natural Hair Community before it was even a community, before youtube, twitter, and instagram! When online forums is all that we had, if you can picture that! Her passion for cosmetics and hair care began at a young age, from reading shampoo and conditioner bottle labels that she would find in the bathroom to getting trouble in elementary school for braiding her classmates hair. Stephanie’s natural hair journey began at age 15 after a disaster relaxer situation but her love for creating products to solve problems didn’t begin until years later. Stephanie graduated from VIrginia State University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a head full of locs. While in school, she made products to care for her locs and to keep them healthy. Two years later she would COMB OUT those locs and the real journey began. Nourish and Love Company with birthed in 2010 when Stephanie made whipped body butter and a healing salve for her dog. It was with these two products along with inspiring stories of Lisa Price, Miko Branch, Jane Carter, that she realized that “Hey I can do this too”. With a deep passion, an insatiable curiosity and a purpose to provide amazing products, Stephanie began a blog where she detailed her journey and her brand with a mission to enrich, empower, and educate. That blog has since transformed and evolved into what you see now. Nourish and Love Company; a spa-inspired company providing handmade, quality hair care products for highly textured hair. Nourish and Love Company provides spa-esqe hair products to promote a stress free natural hair journey. With her never-ending love for cosmetic chemistry, Stephanie has spent countless hours, made hundreds of product iterations, and blown through many a notebook personally formulating and developing the product range you’ll find within Nourish and Love Company. Nourish and Love Company’s products are engineered by the best that nature and science have to offer. Carefully curated, formulated with integrity and ethically sourced, each ingredient found in our products serve specific functions. As a Licensed Cosmetologist and future Trichologist, Stephanie takes haircare very seriously and is out to provide professional hair care advice and education along with providing high quality textured hair products through Nourish and Love Co. www.instagram.com/nourishandloveco www.instagram.com/digitalhairbestie www.nourishandloveco.com www.facebook.com/nourishandloveco

In this second part of HOW MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS ARE MADE, we are moving up the ladder. In this episode, I speak with two fully licensed marriage and family therapists. They spill the tea on how to sustain yourself as a therapist, how therapy is "soul work", and the importance of Latinxs becoming therapists! Below is must-have information on my guests! Maritza Plascencia, LMFT Maritza received a B.A. in Criminology and a B.A. in English from University of California Irvine where she interned for the OC Public Defender's Office interviewing minors in custody at Juvenile Hall. Upon graduating she was hired as a Victim Advocate assigned to assist victims in domestic violence cases going through the criminal justice system. She decided to pursue her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the California School of Professional Psychology after witnessing the effects of unhealthy relationships and the dysfunction these create for everyone involved; from the children who felt lonely and misunderstood in their own homes, to the adults dealing with the mental and emotional impact resulting from their unhealthy relationships. Throughout her career, Maritza has worked with individuals, couples and families addressing anxiety, depression, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), childhood trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault and relationship issues, to mention a few. Her style is to use an integrative, client-centered and emotionally focused approach that includes mind-body techniques and provides clients with practical tools. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which she finds helpful in working with individuals trying to address past traumas and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which she uses in her work with most couples. Zeahlot Lopez Zeahlot Lopez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Cosmetologist helping humans rebuild their spirit. This episode is a roller coaster ride of interesting topics. Liam grew up Mormon. Is there a difference between love and tolerance? Can you be spiritual and religious? Love, logic, and money are rarely mixed with equal parts, and how the most fruitful conversations begin with “We don’t know.” Liam Bonnie is a Seattle based traveler whose interests and escapades are mostly an exercise in circles. He grew up in LA County, joined the United States Coast Guard and sailed from the North Pole to Antarctica by the time he was 19. Landed in Seattle where he learned to write and play music. Like many of us, he has had a barrel of careers: Diesel Mechanic, Licensed Cosmetologist, Pipeliner, Bouncer, Sailor, Honey Hash Manufacturer, Copywriter and Pet Therapist.
