To rematriate is to return the sacred to the mother. Join us today as we talk about the collective work of Rematriation with Dr. Dian Million (Tanana Athabascan), Michelle Schenandoah (Oneida Nation) and Marquel Musgrave (Nanbe Owingeh). In this episode, we acknowledge that rematriation IS the work of decolonization; we talk through Indigenous Feminism, Sky Woman, and we even make the connections between Ruth Bater Ginsberg and The Doctrine of Discovery.Dr. Dian Million, is Tanana Athabascan,  and is a Professor in American Indian Studies at the University of Washington. She recieved her Ph. D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2004.  She is the author of Therapeutic Nations: Healing in an Age of Indigenous Human Rights, as well the author of “Felt Theory: An Indigenous Feminist Approach to Affect and History,” “Intense Dreaming: Theories, Narratives and Our Search for Home,” and most recently “A River Runs Through Me: Theory from Life”. She is currently a member of the Tewa Language Committee for her pueblo, and serves on the Board of Directors for Pueblo Action Alliance. They are also co-founder of the Rights of Mother Earth and Water Beings Coalition. The Library Rematriation Project defines this topic, and they say, “By “rematriate” we mean “give back,” but unlike the legal term “repatriate,” which signifies a simple transfer of ownership, “rematriate” means something more profound: a restoration of right relationships and a true action of decolonization, aimed not just at righting a past wrong but transforming our collective future.+++Shout out to our All My Relations team that makes this possible. As part of our third episode in our series of live recordings from Santa Monica College, we had the chance to take a deep dive with her on her film created in collaboration with artist Cherokee artist Keli Gonzales, ᎤᏕᏲᏅ (What They've Been Taught), which explores expressions of reciprocity in the Cherokee world, brought to life through a story told by an elder and first language speaker. Welcome to our Dominating Social Show, episode #65 of Boroughs & Burbs. This week we have two experts on the intersection of social media with luxury lifestyle and real estate. How important is Social Media in the world of luxury goods and real estate? Very.First, there's Samantha Yanks, the Queen of the Hamptons and NYC. Yes, that Samantha Yanks, formerly Editor in Chief of the region's two powerhouse publications and now she's all-in on Connecticut. With her move to Westport, and the launch of her digital media platform, The Connecticut Edit, Samantha Yanks has proven that Connecticut is the chicest new place to dwell and she is making noise through social domination. When I discovered they asked Samantha to join the Real Housewives cast  I had to include that tasty bit because it's just fun and we're going to ask her about it. For more on the amazing career of Samantha Yanks scroll down. It's not enough to ask the tastemakers. We've also got one of the superstars of New York real estate on the show. Jonathan Stein has been leading one of the top New York City (and Hamptons) teams for the last 10 years. Jonathan has a more than respectable 14,000 followers on Instagram, and members of his team have 10 times that (see below). How important is social media to Jonathan's business? Is there a difference between social in Manhattan versus in the Hamptons? Is social media a gateway to finding new potential clients, to connecting with past clients? I'd like to understand how Jonathan strikes the balance between being authentic and spontaneous on social media versus putting out there a professional and well-curated presence. And, I'd like to know if he's getting help, or doing it himself.

Acheshverosh found "it was written" about Mordechai having saved his life. The wording sounds like it had been recently written. What aggada is told about this and what can be learned from here? When his officers told him that nothing was done with Mordechai for saving the king's life, it was to point a finger at Haman for not having taken care of it. The rabbis expanded on the conversation between Haman and Achashverosh when Achashverosh told Haman to ride Mordechai on the king's horse, etc. What transpired when Haman reached Mordechai - what did Mordechai think? What conversation took place between Haman and the rabbis that were with Mordechai? How and why did Mordechai delay Haman? When Haman's daughter saw the scene of someone leading another on the king's horse, she assumed Mordechai was leading her father and she emptied the chamber pot on her father's head. When she realized her mistake, she fell from the roof and died. Haman's wise advisors understood that Haman was going to lose the battle to Mordechai - how did they know this? Haman came to the party in disarray as he did not have time after having the chamber pot dumped on him to clean himself up. Esther told Achashverosh at the party that Haman had advised him to kill Vashti and was now trying to kill her. Esther first wanted to point to Achashverosh to accuse him of being wicked but an angel came and moved her to point at Haman. Achashverosh felt threatened by Haman from a few different directions - what were they? In Egypt, Joseph send 5 extra clothes to Binyamin, which was a foretelling of the five clothes that Mordechai, a descendant of Binyamin wore when he left the king's palace. The Gemara brings drashot about Binyamin and Joseph meeting up after so many years as well as the interaction between Joseph and his brothers after Jacob's death. "For the Jews there was light, happiness, etc." What is that verse referring to? The ten sons of Haman in the megillah should be recited in one breath. They are also written in the form of poetry but different than the way most of the poetry in Tanach is written - in two columns one opposite the other, rather than a "half brick on top of a whole brick and a whole brick on a half brick." The parchment of the megillah needs scoring - where is this derived from? Why was Mordechai accepted by "most of his brothers" and not all of them? It seems that since he was busy with community needs and neglected Torah study, some were not pleased with him. the Gemara brings several statements about the importance of learning Torah.

We also find that insightfulness often comes from the people we least expect, like Rahab in Jericho. Hi, I’m Gerri Willis from the Fox Business Network and host of the podcast, Rich Is Not a Four-Letter Word. Today, we’re talking to Jonathan Stein, the founder and CEO of Betterment, an online service that automates investing. Some folks call Jonathan’s business a robo-advisor. But as you are about to find out, his business does much more than that. Here are the takeaways: Betterment automates investing using an online interface that allows investors to make their own choices. This new age brokerage has no account minimums and charges a quarter of a basis point in fees. In other words, if you kept $100 at Betterment, you’d be charged a quarter for the privilege. These days, though, Betterment is doing more than just offering low costs, providing users with financial advice developed for their specific situation from certified financial planners. The key to Betterment’s business model is that it removes the conflict that was at the heart of many of the brokers’ businesses. Advisors were paid commissions for selling product, setting up a situation where commissions could drive advice. Stein says he has solved that problem by putting advisors on salary, freeing them up to recommend whatever makes sense to customers. Stein says that too many Americans are still shy of investing in the wake of the financial crisis ten years ago. In a survey conducted by betterment, two-thirds of folks said they were investing less now than before the crash. In the interim, stocks have embarked on the longest-running bull market in history and those that stayed home, well, they’ve missed out. Take a listen to the podcast!
