What if the most dangerous person in the room looked nothing like what you expected - and had lessons for your business, your discipline, and your life that no MBA could teach you? Join Nick Lamagna on The A Game Podcast: Real Estate Investing For Entrepreneurs for one of the most inspiring and eye-opening conversations we've had - Karel "Silver Fox" Pravec, 5th degree black belt under Renzo Gracie, author, app creator, and one of the most respected teachers in the global Brazilian jiu-jitsu community. This isn't just a jiu-jitsu episode - it's a masterclass on longevity, leadership, discipline, and what it really takes to build something that lasts, whether that's a martial arts school, a business, or a legacy. Whether you're a competitor, a school owner, an entrepreneur, or just someone trying to show up every single day and get 1% better - this conversation will change the way you think about consistency, ego, and what it means to truly master something. Karel built his game not on athleticism or natural talent, but on technique, adaptability, and showing up - training alongside legends like John Danaher, Matt Serra, and Ricardo Almeida out of Renzo Gracie's blue basement, and going on to teach students on every continent in the world. Now he's sharing the exact mindset that keeps him rolling - and winning - decades later. While most people are looking for shortcuts, Silver Fox breaks down the real game: ✅ Why discipline - not talent - is the only thing that separates good from great, on the mat and in business ✅ How to train smarter as you age so you can stay on the mat (and in the game) for decades ✅ The biggest mistake passion-based business owners make when they open a school - and why most don't survive the shakeout ✅ Why ego doesn't get eliminated in jiu-jitsu - it gets managed, and what that means for leadership ✅ What 99 straight days of training during the pandemic taught him about accountability and keeping your word to yourself ✅ How he built a global student base through YouTube, a BJJ app, and weekly live sessions - and why the live connection is everything + more   Connect with Karel "Silver Fox" Pravec and the Academy: silverfoxbjj.com Silver Fox on Instagram Silver Fox on Facebook Silver Fox on YouTube Silver Fox on Twitter   Download Silver Fox BJJ app: Silver Fox BJJ on Apple AppStore Silver Fox BJJ on Google Play   --- Connect with Nick Lamagna www.nicknicknick.com Text Nick (516)540-5733 Connect on ALL Social Media and Podcast Platforms Here FREE Checklist on how to bring more value to your buyers

Let's react to a recent essay from a lifelong martial arts practitioner who trained at Renzo Gracie Academy and has spent decades watching warrior culture grow from a niche interest into a mainstream identity. The piece raises uncomfortable but fair questions about what happens when the wisdom earned on the mat gets treated as universal expertise, and what happens when men who have never trained or served adopt the warrior aesthetic without the practice. This episode walks the line between defending the real thing and being honest about the hollow version. Because the practice is real, the wisdom is earned, and the moment competence gets confused with authority is the moment a warrior becomes a costume.Send us Fan Mail

Founder of the pioneering band Cro-Mags, Harley Flanagan is a punk rock/hardcore legend who's defied the odds - along with neglect, sexual abuse, drugs, violence and PTSD -- and lived to tell the tale. The feature-length documentary, HARLEY FLANAGAN: WIRED FOR CHAOS, dives headfirst into the wild life and times of this larger-than-life icon and is a no-holds-barred ride, that isn't just about the music; it's about a man forged in fire who's lived to tell the tale.Raised by a Warhol Factory "it" girl, Harley was thrown into the Lower East Side's underground scene in the '70s. Left to fend for himself, by his teens, he was squatting in Alphabet City, stealing food, dodging gangs, and living in a world that he describes as "some serious Lord of the Flies shit." But, as his life descended into a hellish day-to-day, he was simultaneously becoming a punk rock legend: at the age of 11, he was drumming at CBGBs and Max's Kansas City with his aunt's band, the Stimulators. Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll weren't a choice - they were survival. But Harley was a fighter. Whether on stage, in the streets, or in the Jiu-Jitsu gym with Renzo Gracie, he never backed down. As the ferocious frontman of the Cro-Mags, he pushed NYC Hardcore into uncharted territory. But violence, addiction and a traumatic past left deep scars. The streets made him, but they also nearly destroyed him.Directed and Produced by Emmy and Peabody Award-winner Rex Miller (Citizen Ashe) for Rexpix Media, and produced by Laura Flanagan, HARLEY FLANAGAN: WIRED FOR CHAOS dives deep into Harley's past, but it's not just war stories. It's about what happens after. Friends like Flea, Henry Rollins, Ice T, Roger Miret, Keith Morris, Michael Imperioli, Matt Serra, Jocko Willink, Darryl Jenifer, Glenn Danzig, Brooke Smith, Marcia Resnick, Kate Schellenbach and the late Anthony Bourdain reveal the man behind the legend - confronting demons, raising a family, and sharing the knowledge of his experience to help others. Harley Flanagan didn't just live hardcore - he is hardcore, and WIRED FOR CHAOS is his story - loud, unfiltered, and real as hell. Here's the trailer;Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojOfP12Glok Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Full episode on Patreon. Harley Flanagan is an iconic figure within the New York Hardcore scene. At age 13 he founded the Cro-Mags; one of the most influential hardcore punk bands of the 1980s and 1990s. At age 11, Flanagan began his involvement with music drumming for the New York punk band The Stimulators.Flanagan's early years were spent in New York City's Lower East Side, where he lived through the realities of the time. By age 10, he was living on the streets, often staying in abandoned / burnt out buildings within a neighborhood ravaged by economic decline, gang violence and social unrest. This existence would profoundly influence his later music. Many of the songs in “The Age of Quarrel” describe the day to day living of those years. Flanagan is a black-belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Renzo Gracie, having started training at the gym early on when they were located above a methodone clinic. His love for the art and deep relationship with both Renzo and the late great Ryan Gracie led to a home-like environment in the gym, where he eventually spent time working as a professor. http://livingproofnewyork.comhttp://patreon.com/livingproofnewyork

Kris and David are guestless as we discuss the week that was August 26-September 3, 2000, a Patreon request from Ted Bell, who dropped the $25 for us to cover this week. Topics of discussion include:Changes coming for the WWF creative staff, which comes at an interesting time because....Raw and Smackdown focusing on Triple H and Chyna interacting on TV for the first time in almost a year, which angers their onscreen significant others, Stephanie McMahon and Eddie Guerrero. We talk about how insane this all was, how it seemed like it was building towards a Triple H/Chyna reunion, and why we think it only lasted one week of TV before being dropped cold.SummerSlam 2000, which features the WWF's first-ever TLC match with Edge and Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardy Boyz, as well as Shane McMahon being a maniac and Kurt Angle finishing the main event with a concussion among lots of other news and notes.Kazushi Sakuraba dislocating Renzo Gracie's elbow at Pride 10, which was quite the newsworthy show in general, as it also featured the infamous “Petey, my heart!” fight with Ken Shamrock quitting against Kazuyuki Fujita.Atsushi Onita returning to AJPW while Masahiro Chono vs. Masa Fuchi at the Budokan officially kicked off the AJPW vs. NJPW feud.Otto Wanz folding his CWA promotion in Austria.Fishman losing his mask at the infamous debacle of a super show from GWAS in Mexico, which he never got paid for.Night two of ECW's debut weekend at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC as they put on what was arguably their last great show.WCW, of course..featuring VINCE RUSSO IN THE DESERT, plus Mike Awesome becoming That 70's Guy, Paul Orndorff being jacked as hell while starting his feud with the Natural Born Thrillers, Kevin Nash eating some Korean, and tons more insanity. This one is damn wild and a CAN'T-MISS SHOW!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 WWF2:20:54 Int'l: Pride FC, AJPW, NJPW, BJPW, FMW, Jd', LLPW, AustraliaWF tour, CWA folds, GWAS, Tijuana, & Puerto Rico TV ratings3:34:22 Other USA: ECW, Midnight Express, Ron Fuller-Terry Landel feud, MemphisCW, Power Pro, & XPW4:07:35 WCWTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron.
