-Remember Tanner Lee? Of course you do. He was the Golden Boy that some thought could be a 1st round pick, before he sunk to a 6th round pick following a subpar season and a 4-8 record-That wasn't all on the offense, as the defense was very bad under Bob Diaco. But the offense certainly wasn't good enough. A lot has gone down since we last got together. Spring football is on spring break but we always have plenty to talk about with the football program. We start off the show talking about Trae Young declaring for the NBA and we hash out the demise of OU's basketball season. We are pretty much blaming everyone. OU seems to be making a lot of strides with recruits all over Texas. We also hit up plenty of the goings on between OU, Texas and Texas A&M on the recruiting trail. It started as a sort of therapy session for jilted columnist Jeff Jacobs, who came up empty in his search for his beloved ConFLiCT trophy earlier this week. But, inevitably, the latest episode of the UConn Insider podcast shifted its focus to the man behind the manufactured rivalry that’s still haunting him more than 1,500 miles away: former UConn football coach and current Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco. Jacobs joined beat reporter Mike Anthony and online producer Chris Brodeur to discuss the strange odyssey of the rivalry that wasn’t between the Huskies and UCF (7:00), their favorite Diaco-isms (9:30), where the coach’s career appears to be headed (12:00) and the parallels between a Diaco press conference and one featuring Jim Calhoun (15:00). Then, the guys consider whether the battered Bryant Shirreffs should return as the Huskies’ starting quarterback this season (20:30). They discuss the idea, posited by coach Randy Edsall, that many of the younger players on this team are “hitting the wall” (27:00) and wrap things up with some attendance talk (38:00).

It's a stripped down Cobcast this week. Why? Because Nebraska doesn't deserve to be recognized with a full-fledged, production-filled spectacle like in normal weeks. Also, because Tweedy left town with some of the equipment. This week, Joe and Pat lick their wounds after the Huskers' schizophrenic effort in Oregon. They examine who's most at fault. Bob Diaco? Tanner Lee? Mike Riley? Injuries and depth? Our expectations? They also get a little positive. They celebrate Matt Farniok, bid farewell to David Knevel's career, and revel in Stanley Morgan Jr's second half. But there's also a lot of misery. Like Stanley Morgan Jr's first half. The whole first half in general. Four interceptions. And then the guys move on to Northern Illinois. How does Saturday's game and its seemingly two different halves affect the expectations for this season, and do the Huskers take it out on the Huskies this coming weekend? Will we see Tre Bryant? Does any of it matter any more because good God we gave up 42 friggin' points to the Ducks in one half? Also, if you see Tweedy, tell him to bring back the equipment.
