As the world confronts the aftermath of COVID-19, it is crucial to destigmatize mental health, leverage technology, and foster empathy to ensure open dialogue and accessible care for all. In this episode of Straight Out of Health IT, Lindsay Demboski, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Integrated Psychiatric Consultants, talks about the profound impact COVID-19 had on mental health worldwide. She shares her connection to mental health challenges, drawing on experiences with postpartum anxiety and her commitment to supporting people, especially children. Lindsay underscores the challenges posed by the pandemic, including heightened uncertainty and anxiety, resulting in a surge in mental health issues globally. She emphasizes the need to comprehend the current state of mental health post-COVID-19, particularly as societies transition into what is considered the "new normal." The stigmatization of mental health is something that Lindsay considers key to target, as she sheds light on cultural and religious barriers that contribute to the reluctance to acknowledge mental health struggles and raise stigma. Throughout the conversation, she focuses on the importance of fostering open discussions, normalizing mental health conversations, and educating communities to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health issues. She advocates for recognizing mental health as a real illness, encouraging individuals to seek help, and fostering an environment of empathy and support. Lindsay explores available treatment options and services, highlighting the significance of the 988 mental health crisis hotline. She provides insights into the role of technology, artificial intelligence, and telemedicine in improving access to mental health services. Lindsay also believes it is critically important for parents to be involved in understanding and addressing youth mental health, encouraging open communication, and emphasizing the need for kindness and support in the face of mental health challenges. Tune in and dive into the transformative role of technology, artificial intelligence, and telemedicine in revolutionizing mental healthcare accessibility! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christopher-kunney/support

In this episode, I chat with Cameron Blevins, a history professor at the University of Colorado Denver. Cameron recently wrote the fascinating and important book, Paper Trails: The US Post and the Making of the American West. I loved this book and was thrilled to have Cameron on the podcast to talk about the outsized but often overlooked role the US postal service played in the settling of the American West. We talk a lot about the history of rural post offices but we also talk about the Pony Express, the mythology of the American West, the role of government in rural America, how UPS and FedEx now rely on the rural postal network for last mile package delivery, and the return of the village post office idea in rural America. We end, as always, with the Road Trip Music Question - and I learn that Cameron asks a similar question to his students! The Rural Towns Project Newsletter is live! In this episode of "Keen On", Andrew is joined by Cameron Blevins, the author of "Paper Trails: The US Post and the Making of the American West", to discuss how the US Post wove together two of the era of supposedly limited federal government's defining projects: western expansion and the growth of state power. Prior to this, Blevins was an assistant professor of history at Northeastern University and core faculty member of the NULab for Texts, Maps, and Networks. A podcast about political cinema and our crumbling world. Hosted by Will Sloan and Luke Savage. Just when we thought we'd found the bottom of the barrel, we scrape a little bit further. From executive producers Van Jones and Meghan McCain, THE REUNITED STATES (2021) seeks to open a new chapter in the American story by highlighting people trying to bridge the left and right. But does a political "movement" that believes in nothing more than "listening to each other" actually do anything to address the issues allegedly dividing us? (Hint: no).

Today on the Signal, we explain the political war over the United States Postal Service, and what's hanging in the balance. Featuring: David Dayen, Executive Director, The American Prospect

There are those that are going to be surprised by today’s content. Why? Because I’m going to admit to making one of the biggest mistakes (if not THE biggest mistake) you can make in podcasting. This deals with your podcast feed. When you learn to shave, you have to learn how to hold the razor properly. The Radio Analogy Let’s start with some analogies. Radio is broadcasted on a frequency. That frequency is then deciphered by a radio receiver, which turns it into music. Podcasting is syndicated via your feed and is deciphered via an app. So you had DJ to Frequency to Radio. Now you have podcasters to feed to app. In radio, you had to make sure your radio tower was always operational. If the tower had an issue, you were no longer broadcasting, and your station went dead. With podcasting everything, I mean EVERYTHING is tied to your feed. Guard it with your life. Change of Address Forms The other analogy I want to bring here is the change of address form. I’m going to be moving later this year, and when I am finished set up,at my apartment, I’m going to fill out a change of address form with the US Post office that says,”Any mail going to Dave Jackson at his apartment should now be delivered to his house.” Here is the problem you want to avoid. What if your favorite pizza place was at 123 Main Street, and they moved. They had no website, and when you dialed their phone number it said it was disconnected. You LOVED their food, but you had no idea where to get it. If a radio station moved from 98.7 to 100.2 and didn’t let their audience know, you would have to scan the dial searching for your favorite station. When you move from one feed to another without doing a 301 redirect you strand your audience who is still looking at your old (dead) feed. How Did This Happen? So how did the guy who warns everyone to be careful when dealing with feeds shoot himself in the foot? I did this late at night (post-midnight right before I was heading to bed). Looking back we always have 20/20 vision, but I’m pretty sure this not when I’m at my sharpest. You might say I got, "Too comfortable with the knife." What I mean by this is if you do something dangerous over and over, after a while, you get comfortable, confident, and potentially end up cutting yourself. If this had been a client’s account I was working on, I would’ve shut off all distractions, double and tripled checked my steps, and things would’ve been fine. In my case, I knew the procedure, logged in, copied, and pasted and was getting ready to head to bed. I was too comfortable with the knife. In looking at my stats, it appears I came away with a bruise instead of needing stitches. I Appeared on the Krisk and Kristine Show You can check out my appearance on episode 48 of the Kris and Kristine show. Link to episode 48. Update on Conferences Podfest is doing and online conference while trying to set a Guinness World Record. I will speak at that event. Marketing ain’t what it used to be. Whether you are CEO of a large corporation, Director of an SME, or solopreneur—getting your marketing message out has never been more important than it is today when we are all so distracted. Lock-down may mean that we have far more time on our hands than ever before, but we also have way more things prodding and grabbing at our attention every second of the day—oops, there goes another notification. Today’s guest Barnaby Wynter is a leading marketing expert, keynote speaker, Founder of The Brand Bucket Co, Author and Serial Entrepreneur. He’s also a huge Chelsea fan, but I wont hold that against him—and Founding Freeman for The Guild of Entrepreneurs. Barnaby has been around long enough to have experienced the winds of change across the marketing industry and as Marketing guru Seth Godin says, he understands that powerful marketing is based on empathy, generosity, emotional labour and giving value. Listen in as Barnaby drops some real value nuggets of his own in this wide-ranging conversation, as well as his two favourite London places of course. This is Your London Legacy. “Marketing is about creating the experiences which enable people to form a relationship with a product or a service.” 6:30 Barnaby has been knee deep in the advertising world for most of his life and stationed in London for 35 years working at some of the worlds largest advertising firms, no doubt working for some of the largest brands in the world. But come 1995 the advertising world started to take a sudden turn at the advent of the internet—followed up by one of the world’s most shocking events with September 11th 2001 in the United States. So, in 2002 they set to reconfigure marketing as none of the old ways were working anymore as broadcasting, direct mail, and email wasn’t working well. It’s this shift that ended up having Barnaby with a cloud-based agency. “There is a fallacy called work life balance—there is no such thing work life balance, that’s a conspiracy of the business owners that they perpetuate amongst society.” 30:00 Barnaby has a plethora of insights into what marketing is, how its not stories that work in marketing—but showing a consumer what you can do for them, relating to consumers so they buy from brands that seem composed of people like themselves, and how the internet has changed the direction and purpose in which consumers contact a company for a product or service—a little tip: differentiating yourself from other competitors by stating a few percentage points isn’t emotionally engaging either. Barnaby’s insights don’t stop there, however. With all this talk of a “New Normal” amidst the Covid pandemic, many are talking about a major shift to remote work. A major and permanent shift at that. But Barnaby isn’t as convinced, as he sees that work provides on purpose in life and “home” provides another more emotional purpose. With these two intermixing he believes there will be many pushing back from having their work woes brought into the house, and a need for human connection will eventually prevail as people yearn to crawl back to their water coolers and go out after work for a few pints. While Barnaby believes he’s such a good marketer that you could find him with a simple Google search—we’ll do you one better and post to his website here: BarnabyWynter.com (https://www.barnabywynter.com/) Support this podcast
Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has said that the only way for India to end terrorism is by acting against it in the same way as America did after the 9/11 attacks. The question is does India have the global or military heft needed to carry out such aggressive campaigns. Even if it did, is such a strategy really advisable considering the huge financial costs America had to incur?

Im Blickpunkt stehen Apples irische Steuersparmodelle – aber auch die Tricks von Google, Facebook und anderen Online-Riesen.
