In this week's episode, we talk with Nick Holt, a passionate health coach and personal trainer, about the ins and outs of DEXA scans. These scans, Nick explains, are not just for measuring body fat and bone health (which is important to keep an eye on as we age), but are also vital for understanding overall metabolic health.Additionally, Nick shares insights on the difference between subcutaneous and visceral fat, emphasizing the health implications of each. We also explore the significant role of muscle mass in our bodies, not just for physical strength and function, but also for metabolic health and glucose regulation. What kind of SuperAger are you? Key Moments“I think it's a powerful tool to see how your training is going and if you're on the right track or if you need to change or modify anything which gets into the muscle mass conversation too, which is just as important for metabolic health in addition to performance.”“So a lot of the guys that I'm working with, we're on sort of a 6 to 12 month cadence with the test. I think it's a really good idea to have it as sort of like a baseline test at first and then chart out sort of a goal 6 to 12 months later to try to hit either a body composition goal, or a lot of people use it for some of their female friends who have had some osteopenia, osteoporosis.”"Visceral fat, which is in and around your organs is really inflammatory and can be quite problematic. But subcutaneous fat, the stuff that's kind of in between muscle, the jiggly stuff that's soft, and maybe doesn't look as nice, but is pretty innocuous." This week we're talking about yesteryear's satirical thriller The Menu. We discuss how mixed and half-baked some of the themes are, our favorite worm boy Nick Holt, and propose several questions we're not prepared to answer, such as: how many psychopaths are there (in this movie)? How many oceans are there (in the world)? Also, why we hate the shelving of Coyote vs. Acme. (Recorded November 10th, 2023.)

US Congressional Democrats and Never-Trump Republicans have launched the January 6 Resurrection Show in the form of a House subcommittee. On this week's WilmsFront I'm joined by Nick Holt from the Independent News Network to dive deeper into this reboot released just before the mid-term elections. Nick lives in Queensland but has been focusing more on US political developments on his Substack and podcast. This is because Nick believes what occurs in the US will eventually filter down to Australia, he doesn't believe much has changed here with a new Prime Minister and Federal Government and our decline will continue as part of the wider decline of the West. The main aim of the January 6 House subcommittee is to disqualify Donald Trump from running for the Presidency in 2024. The US Primetime opening night was produced by former ABC News President James Goldston. Several lies were repeated such as that 5 Capitol police officers were killed during the occupation, only 1 Trump supporter was killed that day Ashli Babbitt. There are still Trump supporters who were in the Capitol that day who are still imprisoned without facing a trial. The US mid-term elections take place on Tuesday, November 8 with all 435 seats in the House of Representatives up for election, 35 seats in the Senate, and 36 gubernatorial elections. Polling suggests that Republicans will retake Congress. This is another reason why January 6 subcommittee is occurring now. Biden has begun referring to Trump's supporters in Congress and those running in November as Ultra MAGA. All this political theatre by Biden and the Democrats is to distract from the fact the cost of living for Americans is increasing with inflation out of control at 8.1% the highest rise since 1981. Gasoline prices have topped $5USD a gallon (3.7 liters) for the first time and interest rates have just gone up by 0.75%. Topping that off is a national shortage of baby formula and now tampons. The Democrat-controlled Congress has sent billions to Ukraine while Americans at home struggle. But the other reason why there is a backlash against the Democrats is because of their support for the indoctrination of school children with critical race theory, degenerate sexual education programs and pushing masks and other pandemic mandates. Left-wing terrorism has increased since the draft US Supreme Court decision overturning Roe vs Wade was leaked. A man was arrested outside Justice Brett Kavanaugh's private home planning to assassinate him. A pro-abortion terrorist group Jane's Revenge, has claimed credit for recent attacks on pro-life pregnancy support centers. Antifa and BLM violence of the past year went uncondemned by the Democrats and mainstream media. On his podcast, he has interviewed Miranda Devine of the New York Post about the social media suppression and censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the lead up to the 2020 US Presidental Election. He has also interviewed Australian basketball legend Andrew Bogut who has been one of the leading voices of the celebrity counter-cultural revolution speaking out against the pandemic narrative and Melbourne's record-breaking lockdown. On Substack Nick has published further details about the Victorian Government's dealings with Communist China outside of the Belt and Road Agreement. During the recent Melbourne protests, Nick believes the special operations teams we saw as part of the Victoria Police response could be outside trained mercenaries. They could possibly be linked to the city being part of the Strong Cities Network. Nick and I also discuss this week's local developments, he shares his view on Dom Perrottet's rise to the NSW Premiership, and if delivers on his political philosophy of freedom by overseeing the state go back to complete normalcy. At the federal level, Nick believes there is now little difference between the two majors and predicts at the next federal election there will be a significant increase for pro-freedom minor parties. In Episode 28 of #Onthetouchline, Jason Broadwater @SoccerCoachJB talks to Jay Hammond, @ Coach_JayT on Instagram. Hammond is a coach at Birmingham United Soccer Association in Birmingham, AL. “You either win or you learn.” That is a quote coach Jay Hammond subscribes to in how he approaches the game of soccer. Hammond is a coach at Birmingham United Soccer Association in Birmingham, AL. A previous guest of this podcast, Nick Holt is a mutal coaching colleague of Jay and I’s and helped connect us in a roundabout sort of way. Like many coaches I interview, I got connected with Jay via social media. Success means creating a legacy. Jay has been influenced by the Messiah Method. Those not familiar – Messiah College here in Pennsylvania has been one of the most successful college programs in the country. During a 10 year period their men’s and women’s programs won 472 times, lost 31 times, and drew 20 times. So what is the Messiah Method? · Pursue a higher purpose than winning. · Be intentional about everything. · Recruit the “Both-And” players. · Cultivate team chemistry. · Link training to the match. · Choreograph match day. · Play to a standard. Jay talks about how he has used this to shape goal setting and action plans with his players. Hammond also talks about grit and determination. Is it something a player is born with? Or, do players learn how to have grit and determination? Special Offer for my listeners: Go to https://www.duktigbrand.com/ Place your order. With absolutely no apologies for quoting Slade, AMS Editor Nick Holt and AMS Deputy Editor Gareth Price see this Christmas as the ideal time to look back at a selection of topics featured in AMS magazine during 2018. But this is no nostalgia trip as the past 12 months have given us ample opportunity to see how automotive manufacturing is shaping up for future demands. Nick talks about his visit to the BMW C Evolution electric scooter assembly plant in Berlin and recalls some of the material science advances being explored by Covestro. Gareth talks about his visit to the historic Rouge Center, part of Ford real estate for more than a century but a truck plant shaped for modern times. We also look at how Industry 4.0 techniques such as 3D printing and wearable tech is continuing to change the landscape of automotive manufacturing around the world. AMS Podcast Episode 03 is produced and presented by the AMS editorial team, Nick Holt and Gareth Price.
We focus on emobility for this episode as Gareth Price sheds light on Volkswagen's Transparent Factory. The unconventional facility in Dresden repurposed to assemble the eGolf is also a showcase for the VW’s e-mobility philosophy. We hear too from Mike Nash and his visit to Honda's manufacturing facilities in Indiana. The plant recently began production of the 2019 Insight hybrid model, one of five electrified vehicles Honda has launched in just the past 18 months. The company is striding hard into emobility as, by 2030, Honda wants two-thirds of its global sales to be electrified vehicles. In the second half of this episode, we look at how the automotive industry's powertrain component suppliers are responding to the technological shift brought about by electrification. Is the noise around the battery electric vehicle drowning out the real story, one which sees the internal combustion sticking around for a couple more decades, made cleaner and more efficient by innovation? Gareth Price speaks to some of the key players from powertrain component supply sector; Borg Warner, Federal Mogul, Delphi and Honeywell. The onset of the electrified age has sparked hybrid innovations – so there's plenty life yet in the internal combustion engine... AMS Podcast Episode 2 is produced and presented by the AMS editorial team, Nick Holt, Gareth Price and Michael Nash.

There aren't many true heroes left in this dog-eat-pizza world of ours, but Nick Holt, Defender of Stoners In Confusing Apartment Complexes, is one of them. In December 2016, Nick told the tale of one of his greatest adventures in delivery driving, and it was an epic truly worthy of the Bard himself, complete with comedy, tragedy, altruism, betrayal, and a pitfall that may have actually been a bear. From Nick's Odyssey bio: Nick Holt is a 20-year-old college student. His major is theatre and he is trying to become a stage performer. He currently works at Dominos as a delivery driver and attends full time classes at Pima Community College. His hobbies include sleeping, eating, and staring at his wall thinking about productive things he should be doing. This episode was performed and recorded in front of a live audience at The Screening Room in Tucson, AZ, on December 1st, 2016, and was curated by Molly McCloy. Todays guest on Join Up Dots is going to give us a different perspective to a story which we have already told back on a previous episode of Join Up Dots. His girlfriend and business partner Julie Gohring, came on the show on episode 330, and told us how together with todays guest she has created a life splashing around happily on the beaches of Costa Rica. But it isn't all about having great fun and the life that he wants. Yes, he is passionate about using fitness and health to enrich peoples lives. As he says “I've been an athlete my entire life which has given me a unique set of tools to educate and motivate others to live healthier, fitter and more joyous lives. I love training on the beach and getting after it in the gym. Good nutrition (most of the time) solid recovery, and a little mindfulness practice round out my core beliefs.
