Today's Song of the Day is “Mean Time” from Born Ruffians' album Beauty's Pride, out June 6.
This week we're joined by Luke Lalonde and Mitch DeRosier of the ever-evolving band Born Ruffians. Luke shares the incredible story of how he and wife rescued two Pariah dogs, Putty, a 5 year-old female, and Ru, a 3 year-old female, from India and Mitch takes us back 10 years to when he adopted his golden-doodle Charlie (sound familiar?) who has since become the social media mascot for the band.Born Ruffians new album Beauty's Pride comes out on June 6th via Rep Roc Records. Pre-order your copy today by visiting bornruffians.caLuke gave a shout out to Dharamsala Animal Rescue (DAR) whose mission is to create a better world for animals and people by ending the human/street dog conflict and providing spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, rescue and rehabilitation, and community education for rabies safety and compassion. To learn how you can make a world of difference to animals and people visit dharamsalaanimalrescue.org for more information. Mitch echoed that shout out since he and I both have dogs that've never seen a day of hardship in their lives. For more pics and clips of Luke, Mitch, Putty, Ru and Charlie follow the show on Instagram @rockerdogpodcast

The Road The Stage is here to deliver what was a very fun interview with the Sham Family, snuggled up tight in the back office at Bo's Bar & Stage. Sham Family were in town opening up for Born Ruffians, a show we've been eagerly anticipating for what feels like FOREVER. The recent Sham Family EP has been a pretty consistent earworm around these parts, so Patrick Bateman and Peter Michaels were excited to learn more about the dudes in a Dodge Caravan. We talk about perfectionism, pandemic timing, performance anxiety and at least one way to deal with it and MORE. Dig in and make sure you follow the Sham Family, they are great. And follow us too! Especially at the Communal Creative Studios YouTube channel - where you can watch every episode of The Road The Stage and see some seriously sweet content. Recorded and produced at Communal Creative Studios in Red Deer, AB.

The Toronto Blue Jays are busy right now. Really busy. They just acquired Matt Chapman in a blockbuster trade from the Oakland Athletics, with a prospect package headlined by Kevin Smith and Gunnar Hoglund going the other way. What does this mean for the 2022 squad? Is José Ramírez still a possibility? Just how exciting is all of this? Mark, Bryson and Jacob offer their instant reactions to the deal.Note: Apologies for Mark's audio. This was an impromptu episode and we had to make do. While Wake Me Up When September Ends was originally written in remembrance of Bill Joe’s father, the sheer reach and gravity of the song allowed for many different interpretations. The one that Green Day really seemed to run with was the 9/11 theme, and holy hell did they lean in for the music video. This thing is over 7 minutes long people, with nearly 4 minutes of dialogue embedded in the video. It’s a big one, but allow Tom to lighten the mood a bit with a weird outdoor sex story. This week on the Yellow Brit Road, acoustic performances, loud girls, Satanic experiences and ukuleles! We started off with acoustic performances from Muse's Matt Bellamy, covering Simon and Garfunkel's moving Bridge Over Troubled Water, only to have a live performance from the OGs from way back in 1967. New music on this week's show, Yorkshire band Guru, Bristolian trio Svalbard, and a compilation album released by Nottingham-based Punk 4 the Homeless, which can be found on Bandcamp. This week brought back our favourite music journalism feature, and it was a cracker indeed. Masala Chai this week was brought direct to your ears by Brazilian duo Overdrive Duo, belting out a spectacular cover of AC/DC's Thunderstruck on ukuleles, and Born Ruffians, who have a new album called Squeeze. Find this week's playlist here. Get in touch! Email yellowbritroad@gmail.com or tweet @YellowBritCFRC. Yellow Brit Road is live on air Sundays 8 PM on cfrc.ca
